Hi, as the audio recording with the built in mic is very poor, i wonder if there is some kind of USB dock with audio "line-in" capability!?
I think i have seen that for the "bitten fruit" pad...
Does anyone know how to get a good audio recording quality?
My target is to record my guitar (electric and acoustic) while practising with great guitar apps on the tablet.
This would completely round off the guitar practising experience.

Thanks, do you plug it into the Headphone Jack of the prime?
That means that the jack has a line-in feature right?

Yes, The jack's 3.5 mm, so it has a line in aswell. I think.

Amp simulation is not really my thing so I don't have much experience there. The audio stuff I've done with my Prime has been straight recording and a little editing.
For multitrack recording check out Audio Evolution

Tascam works wonders if you use it with headphones directly connected to it and no modeling.
We, Android users, are screwed when using real time or low latency modeling/amp simulation cause Android audio drivers are quite bad right now.
The latency of what gets in the phone and what you hear is an abomination hehe, it makes impossible to use an app to simulate a pedal or add add an affect for example. The issue relies in the Audio driver used by Android.
As far as i know l, it has been in the Android bug tracker for like 3 years now and it hasn't been fixed. You can search for Android issue 3434.
That's why for example AmpliTube has not released any app for Android

Might want to clarify what the acronym stands for. I have no idea what a DAC is.

+1 for posting in the correct section though. Developers DO read the general and q&a sections of forums. Just not as often as ppl want them to - so they post in Development to get an answer faster... which is not the right way to go about things.

I don't know but it's clearly sub-par, as audited by audio-gd compass and D2000 ... And you can't change it so it kind of irrelevant.
Mayby also someone know is it possible to have direct digital stream from Atrix (bypassing DAC)?

With HDMI out, obviously, but I was also hoping for digital out over usb, like in the car's usb port. I doubt these car controllers know what to do with that connection, unless you can put it into mass storage mode and treat it like a flash drive.

So I traced this out, seems like it has been dead in the water since nVidia bought portalplayer in 2007. Kicking around on the rockbox wiki, I found this android port:
http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/AndroidPort
I read through forums, searched, and looks like an apk for qHD needs to be developed yet. Would like to be wrong. Anyone have info on this?
I hate to dig up an old thread, but this is kinda what I was hoping for. I'm in the process of building a "portable" device that would have a Digital port interface, feeding professional DAC and HiFi headphone amplifier. Never actually tried to connect a phone to a receiver with HDMI connector, but it should work, bypassing phone's DAC and feeding digital PCM signal to external device.
As far as BlueTooth connection goes (for the last poster), then if you are looking for good quality, looks somewhere else. Bluetooth compresses the sound on the fly before sending it to the paired device. For some it might be unnoticable, but to me it is unbearable.
According to http://www.head-fi.org/t/549644/motorola-atrix-sound-quality, it is a Wolfson 8903 L. From what I have read, everything points to the Atrix and the Tegra 2 using a Wolfson DAC. Don't forget that the amp and preamp are just as important to sound quality. Supposedly, ICS may support USB DACs.

Wrong,
Just contacted ('PCWAR'), he said he is unsure, he saw such info on xda forums.
WM8903L is made for Harmony Tegra 2, or tablet Tegra 2.
All Tegra 2 Ventanna uses WM8994 DAC
Yay, we've got the highest end DAC, par with the S3 and Note 2 except bit higher stereo crosstalk.
As the other thread is set as [solved], I made a new one, as it is not solved for me...
To check what happens I got me the left/right test track from binkster.net
And it definitely puts all audio on the left channel, the left channel data a lot quieter than the right channel data, but everything together onto the left front channel.
I guess the receivers show 5.1 because the hdmi data is indeed a 5.1 channel format, just without any sound on most of its channels. And I believe the reason it works on some TVs, is that they just detect a mono signal and put it on all speakers, or they only have one speaker in the first place.
As the audio and hdmi HW is inside the Tegra 3 SoC and the same test file plays fine on the same hdmi setup with my Tegra 2 LG P990 phone with microHDMI out, I doubt this is a hardware problem, but that Asus somehow uses the mixed up mono signal from its own single speaker as output over hdmi as well...
But maybe I am wrong, is there anyone who actually gets this left/right test to play "left" on the left speaker and "right" on the right speaker ?
I marked my thread as "solved" because I found (notes in the thread) that the prime and cable "work". But they don't "work correctly" for all connected displays. Some didn't work at all, some didn't have correct audio (as you have). Some worked perfectly. Maybe "solved" is not correct. "Understood" would be better.
My TV doesn't have correct audio either, but at least I know where the problem is. And I could buy a new TV if I had the $$.
I have opened a case with ASUS and hope to get some more info from them later this week after the holidays are well behind us.
I suggest you open a case with ASUS as well to motivate them.
Good luck.
Is there a way to look into the audio configuration? Is it alsa? Maybe they mix channels to mono there?
I poked around with various market apps and couldnt find any info.
I haven't had time to look thru the kernel code. Hopefully ASUS will post an update.
NOTE: the audio is fine with some devices. So it doesn't appear (as I first wondered) that its a mixer problem.

I opened a case already, but I think it will not really help Asus much, actually more the opposite and confuses them rather, as I mixed up right with left in my report to them
Can you download the left/right test file from binkster.net by any chance and test it on those TVs where you thought it worked and listen closely if the two words actually come from the correct speakers or just from the middle of the TV ?
In the audio track, the word "left" is spoken only on the left speaker and the word "right" on the right speaker
Thanks !

Yes, I just wanted to make sure the TVs did not "intelligently" spread out the mono signal onto both speakers, which could be verified by the test file.

Does the Onkyo controller app from the market work on the prime?
I am on 8.3.3.33 now and STILL got the mono sound problem.
I connect my TF Prime with my Onkyo TX-NR509 receiver, which is quite state of the art. Besides, I am using a very professional HDMI cable with 1.4 standard.
Sound is only playing on the left and the center channel.

Not for me. Audio was working perfectly until I installed ICS now I don't get ANY sound over HDMI.
Has the output type changed or something? Perhaps my amp's settings need to be changed after the ICS update. There isn't a problem with the cable as the same file played ok from my computer using the same HDMI cable and input. A small chance the micro adapter is broken I suppose, but can't really test that as have no other input sources.
so i have a thunderbolt and a bionic and soon a rezound and of course have a tfp. i was wondering if there will ever be a port for beats to the prime. i have beats on the t-bolt and it is amazing because i have the bluetooth beats. beats only works if the headphones are connected in to jack tho. i would really like beats on here. as a matter a fact i will be trying to port it over. (next two days off and alot of adderall :x)
not that I know anything about this, but I coulda sworn it had something to do with the actual hardware or drivers or something, not something you could literally port over, or I would think most phones would have it..
Entirely software based.

yeah just software based. people say other eq are better and what not but just the little icon and knowing you have beats audio is good enough. i played around with equalizers and what not and this is just way better. so stick around ill be getting it
If you cant get it going, Volume+ available from the market does the trick.
It has volume boosting capabilities, along with equalizer settings. One of which is, Beats Audio emulation.
Works for internal speaker, headphones, or bluetooth.
I mean, I just cant get how its possible that this phone's stock ROM and kernel have a decent MHL support, and a super customized ROM, like Cm, AOSP, AOKP (wich all of them include awesome tweaking capabilities....) doesn't have it?
I mean, most of the stock parameters appear on files that are editable on Notepad. So, is there any one referred to MHL setup? And so, why don´t you just "paste" it into the root of a custom non-stock ROM to get that feature available?
Today I got an "advance" in my hopeless quest on getting a decent MHL look on my phone (for those who read my older threads...). I recorded my phone screen using Screencast app on a Dead Trigger playing session (wich looks horrible on my HDTV through MHL...). I was expecting that the recording has a decent quality, but due to the S2 hardware capability, I could get an awesome, sharp and smooth looking recording of my game.
The surprise came, when I plugged my computer on the TV. The default output resolution is 1080p, and in the TV, it looks "too" sharp, with a little colour and quality loss. But in windows 7 I can change it, so I did it to 760 (or something like 764) and voilá, suddenly the screen was showing my desktop flawlessly (not losses of any kind), so I decided to watch the recording of the game in my pc through Skydrive... and the results shocked me. The quality was perfect. Super smooth, fast, awesome looking 3d graphics.
Now, thats a progress. A video in 1080p output resolution looks bad through DNLA, and HDMI out (on pc); the same on 764 looked perfect (and both were faaaar too better than the same video on MHL...)
So, it seems that lowering the MHL output to 764 would be a kick up on quality. Will be possible?? Only masters can talk...
Thanks for your time and hope you can bring your light on my research.

You are right. It is due to the parts being closed source and not part of the AOSP source code. Without this there is nothing the devs can do to make it work.
And exploring the phone's files? Maybe a trial or error test to find the MHL related parameter?

As this is very dependent on the kernel even if you could find the files without the proper kernel source code there is nothing they can do. Until it becomes part of the AOSP code there is little to no hope of it working properly
Now THIS is a progress:
http://mobility.forumsee.com/a/m/s/p12-9400-0110676--aokp-and-hdmi.html
It looks like a solution, just editing the build.prop
some ROM not supported HML as NFC
Actually, I added that line and now my phone is MHL compatible, although its ROM originally wasn't.
But only to play music and videos, nothing more shows on screen.

I was referring to the strix go 2.4z.. Asus should have developed an integrated system for both of them.. It will be great to have compatible devices.. The current audiowizard on rog II does not have an equalizer.. As to the strix, they are marketing it as a versatile device. If they'd upgrade the audiowizard to have equalizer settings when it is connected to Rog II, that would be definitely great..

When was the last update bro? I am waiting for the xiaomi line free bluetooth headphones that I ordered, it has aptx adaptive codec.. will try to make review about it... The latency is upto 80ms..
Now back to the ROG Strix Go, is the audiowizard compatible? Setting it's soundstage to wide is great advantage in shooting games... I had 90% accuracy in pinpointing the location of the enemies... I am currently using the fiil t1x TWS, the latency is the reason of that 10%, however the sounds are great.. It was immersive in playing online games, watching movies, and listening to songs..
Try testing the ROG Strix Go with the barber shop test, it's available at youtube.. There's a portion of that audio soundstage test that would make you freak out due to realistic sound effects... Please do reply hear after you have done that.. It will be a great help to all of us..
Will share hear also my experience with the xiaomi device
