Below is the modded zip file:
You have to have a custom recovery installed to use this, this is the HQ camera mod by NODO-GT modified to work on T-Mobile/Telus stock based/odexed and deodexed roms.
Fixed the script, should work on ANY rom based on Telus or T-Mobile Stock ROMs, mainly made for the stock Telus or T-Mobile ICS.
signed_HQ_mod_working for T-Mobile users.
signed_telus-HQ_mod for Telus users.
The stock T-Mobile Camera app with the tweaked xml file is now attached with a flashable zip.

Tweaks the settings and lifts the file size limit to lift the compression, hence increasing the quality of the pics taken to it's actual quality and not the software compressed version of stock.

Tried this script as well, same issue, keep running into some sort of error, what are you using to compile your scripts? Think the prog I'm using might be the issue.
Found a way to make it work, modded the script from the original zip file.

It's the same, just made into a flashable zip, with the files modded to suit TMO apk file names and the script customized to delete the odex files of the stock roms.
If you edit the xml file you can change the bitrate I think, but there's a limit/increments it has to be set in, so do some googling before going about that.

Yes. Sometimes, I want to be able to lower it because I recorded a videos and the average bit rate is 36M.. With a 6minutes video, it's a 1.6G file.. It took me 7 hours to upload to youtube..
I want to change it but not always keep at a low bit rate..

quick question
Hi nightmare is there any way to have the stock T-Mobile camera ui. I don't like the panorama mod in this ui. Stock ui is more intuitive.
I tried to change the XML file but no change.

Leave your stock camera apk file in place, extract the apk, copy the xml file in the system/etc folder to your phone's system/etc folder, you'll have the stock UI and some of the tweaks. If you don't have the stock camera let me know and I'll upload the apk/odex file for you.

Ive always noticed that when I take a pic, and then look at it in gallery, I never get the pic I just took, ie its like a thumbnail of it. I often take a quick snap of writing or lists etc, but this low res version sometimes makes it very hard to see.
I also remember when I was trying to show off the screen, id take a 4mb nat geo pic, try and zoom in, and it looked like ****e really quickly because it was taking a thumbnail.
Do you think its possible with the resources available our phones would smoothly be able to handle the high res [or if not a higher res] version of the gallary?

Not sure if it views it in hi-res but I have noticed that Astro views it a bit better and loads it faster as well. Perhaps give it a try and see if it help at all..
B&B Multi Touch Gallery was working for me to view full resolution, but I feel like it's been abandoned and probably isn't worth buying. Really wish the built in gallery could get it's **** together. Wish they had an options menu with the ability to reduce visual effects to improve picture loading speed and quality.
Just got my N1.
Does it record in 720p or is that a feature only available through root?
I'm on FRF91, thanks!

I think you need to root and load a different ROM. Try CyanogenMod. Search is your friend!
At this second no N1 on Froyo records 720p, theres a bit of trouble porting it. But yes, you would have to root to get it when its release.
I too prefer the default gallery to get its **** together, as its the one which is always there, and the one linked to camera.

I really like this music player because its so simple and fast, but the album art never was displayed properly, the art itself was ok but the case was cut off which for some reason bugged me (im 99% percent sure its because of Wildfire low-res screen). Anyone have a mod or instructions on how to mod? I dont think resizing the pngs will do... Im on 2.2.1 stock if that helps.

Yes, it happened to me some time ago with a music app. I had to resize the png and also the xml. I don't remember exactly. If you just downsize the png, it will probably be resized to the size the xml says.
Thanks, any idea of what to resize it to? And whereabout the xml and png are in the apk?
UPDATE: found album_border_large and album_border small...do i resize both?

Hey, tell me something. The easy way is just resizing the album png if always is shown the default unknown album cover.
But if sometimes you have the real cover, is it also shown bigger? Let me know what kind of modification you need.

I made the album cover smaller. It is latest v1.8. The CD looks wider than tall, but it can be easily fixed if the whole thing works for you. As I said, I don't think it will properly show the real album cover in case you have some.
Let me know
I've been trying out different ROMs and boot animations and a few times ago I noticed the animation was playing extremely fast. So I tried switching back to some old ones and even those were playing way too fast. Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

sense ROMs play bootanims faster than aosp ROMs. You can change this by adjusting the fps in one of the xmls but I can't remember which.

not in the xml(that i've ever seen, but i dont know everything, lol)but in the desc that comes with the bootanimation(if you unzip the animation(Sprint_bootanimation.zip not the flashable one if there is one) make sure when you zip it back up that you do so with zero compression

Hey, I'm wondering if you've find a way to modify the birghtness on the camera? I'm currently using energy rom too and it'd be great to be able to edit the brightness on the camera (instead of the full birghtness).
Sent from my HTC Ruby using xda app-developers app
Or you can pull the camera.apk out of the rom with the brightness you want it set at.. and put it in /system/app then reboot. problem solved.
I'm pretty sure it isn't the apk itself tho, if you download the HQ camera mod, you will see it has camera profiles, I think if you modify a value in one of those files, that is what will accomplish what you want.
Do not be afraid to do it yourself, if it doesn't work or you have issues, you just reflash the rom without wiping, or reflash the mod. Either will take you back to whatever you had before.
But like I said, I am pretty sure it isn't compiled into the APK itself.

So, I just changed from energy rom to speed rom and the camera seems to have brightness in auto mode (or it just follow my current brightness setting) instead of a certain value...
If you think I can just edit the camera.apk, can I just grab the camera.apk from speed rom and push it to energy rom? Will that work?

Any chance to port MIUI 6 or MIUI 7 stock camera like this way ?
Hola guys. I know this reply is kind of irrelevant but I have been looking for help from anyone who had this problem. To all of you. Particularly the ones who are familiar with MIUI. I will just stick to the point. If you ARE familiar with miui then you must have come across those flashy themes. You must also have found out the way to bypass the infamous theme policy WSM tools and Xposed and all. But I recently started taking interest in those flashy themes. You know that once you download a theme from the default Themes app the mtz file starts getting downloaded and as soon as the downloading has finished it gets unpacked into bits (com.android.contacts, com.miui.home, icons, lock_wallpaper, locksreen and so on) and gets copied to the MIUI folder in main storage and again into data/system/theme. This is the first problem. I can't copy the whole mtz file to a safe place because it gets unpacked as soon as it has been downloaded which is basically a zip file containing several other zip files that is, the 'bits' I was talking about. Second thing. the default themes app does not recognize mtz files downloaded from the official miui themes website. It declares them as third party themes. What I did was, took some of those 'bits' and replaced some XML files inside them and some png elements and put them back into data/system/theme. But miui has a way to prevent this from happening. As soon as it detects a modified file present in data/system/theme it reverts back to the default plain theme by deleting all files from data/system/theme. My guess is it keeps checking out verifying in regular intervals the checksums that it must have generated earlier. The same thing happens if I just replace a bit in the mentioned directory with a bit from another theme. So my questions are:
1. Is there a way to preserve the mtz file downloaded from within the default Themes app as a whole mtz file?
2. Can I make changes to just the Themes app so that it would apply any mtz file?
3. Is there a way to prevent miui from continuously checking or verifying the checksums that it has generated? (just a guess but I reckon thats what it actually does) because for an hour or so after replacing or modifying the 'bits' everything works fine but the reverting process takes place in an hour or so.
Thats all folks! jk. Any help or suggestion would be really appreciated because I think a thread like this was long since needed here. And dont talk about visiting MIUI's official forums. Most of the guys there don't know half the things that is really worth discussing. Thank you guys.
note- dont want to use WSM tools nor can I find one for miui7.
note2- if I change the permissions of the folder (data/system/theme) to 444 allowing READ permissions only, the phone would just reboot without warning and continue to reboot until the permissions are changed back to normal (755).
Good one from MIUI, thx.
