[Q] Any plan for official AOKP? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I am not trying to be rude, but curious about it. When can I expect AOKP officially support AT&T SGSII? Probably I9100 has to be first officially supported by AOKP, then AT&T version will be supported next.
I know task650 keeps very wonderful AOKP rom. But one feature I miss from official version is keeping old ones. I think task650 updates about every two days, and it is hard to follow his every move.
Love you task650.

You'll know just by following the thread. Task will most likely know first before we would.

Nah

AT&T version means all the bloatware included. AT&T is working on a ICS version for our phones, however the guy they hired to do it has probably never touched a phone before and is the only one working on - hence the reason it is taking so long to get released. They are more worried about new phones then old ones, and this will always be the case.
I also don't think AT&T will ever release a Vanilla build of Android for any phone. Heck even look at the Nexus, even that had some AT&T stuff in it.

I'm pretty sure that the OP meant that he wishes the i777 was officially supported by the AOKP team on their website, which has nothing to do with AT&T.
That said:
1. No one knows when if/when it will be officially supported. I think the AOKP team would need to own the phone first. Regardless, I think Task does a way better job maintaining his build, fixing issues faster than the AOKP team.
2. If you need an archive of older versions, just go to Task's repository: http://goo.im/devs/task650/aokp/i777

I don't believe the AOKP team will ever support the SGS2. If they want to, they already would. Right now, task's AOKP is an official.

Yeah I'd have to agree. Tasks version will be as official as it gets. I won't complain!
I <3 task. No homo.

You got my question right. I used a word "AT&T" to differentiate from international SGSII. Thanks for the link, sort of things I wanted. I just want Task to make a some reference stable version, such as Milestone used in AOKP.

Yes, but he doesn't support them. I think what he's wishing for is a datum build, a build that it is kosher(or even expected) for people to continue using after newer builds are released. Such a milestone build would be supported until the next milestone is released.
This isn't how Task operates though, and it's his rom, his rules. To him every build is a milestone build.

Exactly lol and it shouldn't be an issue unless you're having a problem

Every build is stable. There are really no major issues or Task wouldn't release it. Minor bugs always are gonna exist. So pick the latest release ans just stick with it for a while. Bam. Stable release. ;-) on a side note old releases are unsupported so if u have a question and yer on an old release it won't be addressed.

That's not what we're talking about...

Half of these posts are not even on what the OP asked.
Task basically makes it official for our device, it probably won't come our way in another form.
This has nothing to do with AT&T or Samsung firmware for future posts.

I agree. This has been answered to the best of our ability. Frankly, we just dont know if there will ever be any "official" AOKP for our device... but Task is doing a damn fine job giving us as close as we can get.

Hopefully we'll get a slightly less Macgyvered MIUI sometime soon, with more ROMs to follow.

Please note that AOSP developers have asked that prospective downloaders wait for the greenlight to download ICS, as it hasn't entirely propogated through their system, and you may end up with a hodgepodge of files from ICS and Gingerbread if you download now.
Moving this to General as there is no development going on in this thread... just informing everyone about the release of 4.0.1

Source code release means ROMs are basically done, and we should all prep for installing them by running backups.
Remember last year how the GB ROMs for the captivate started flowing 48 hours after GB source dropped.

CM tends to be unable to go very far without the vendor-proprietary bits.
It's possible but EXTREMELY difficult. The CM team has said it'll probably be at least 4-5 months to integrate in general, that's not counting device-specific bringups.
The fastest route to ICS is likely going to be porting an I9100 release.

Thanks for the dose of reality. I hate getting all worked up anticipating something that wont be around (or at least stable) for several months. Now i can just put this in the back of my mind and be pleasantly surprised if it happens sooner.

If nothing else this is all but official confirmation that there will be an official CM9 for the AT&T Note (albeit this was always likely) but it might also (but probably doesn't) hint that Cyanogen himself might help maintain it. (I bought my G2 for the specific reason that it was his daily driver at the time)

This was announced months ago on the cyanogenmod blog.
Order of operations (in true geek form, the pun was intended):
1) Exynos based systems would come first.
2) Next would be MSM86xx based systems...hence the skyrocket and our Note.
Old news is no news.
Thanks for the update, it's much appreciated to see that we're nearing a release. I'll be refreshing get.cm twice as hard now.

Awful how? I have tried two ICS roms and they bludgeoned GingerBread to death.
Performance is absolutely awful. I have been ready to return this thing a few times but I am trying to hold out until the kernel source is released to see if we can get any bump in performance. Scrolling is awful, period, on every rom I have tried. I am really hoping this isnt a snapdragon S3 issue, as were ****ed if so. Then the constant redraws, lag, app hangs, etc just make me want to switch back to WP7.
Have you tried the Unofficial rom? It is fast and clean and super stable.
It sounds to me like you have a bad Note. I had one and exchanged it. It took forever for screen transitions and the SPen was super laggy which made me originally wonder what Samsung was thinking. Until I went in for a different issue (the backlight bleed on the white notes) to swap it out with a black one.
Even the Hybrid is very fluid with all of its customizations.
yeah I ran TPC, unofficial ICS, and now dagr8s hybrid at 213 dpi. Tablet mode is awesome, but useless with all the lag. I have 3 home screens and maybe 7 widgets, and its painful to use at times. My Sensation 4g SMOKES this thing.

This is just one bad experiance.......the ics roms out right now are GOOD and smooth and fast. scrolling on my note is very smooth. you may have a bad note, or are just setting it up wrong. everyone has little tweaks they do that they think help the smoothness. so in the end what im trying to say it IS NOT THE ROMS......

[Q] Will Jellybean spur development?

When jellybean leaks or is officially released do you think there will be more devs working on custom roms?? Im ordering mine on tuesday no matter what tho. cant wait
Probably not. Already a number of devs working on things.
I would imagine that you will see a few new devs and roms when/if the first person figures out a reasonable way of converting N4 / ASOP roms over though.

The Base rom will probably be updated to 4.1 or 4.2 depending on what's released.
We probably won't see more devs immediately but, keep in mind Christmas is coming up so a lot of people will be getting new devices and have no free time till Christmas..
Then after Christmas people will have less to do, more time, and a new device to play with.

Great point. Plus, we really only need a few devs. Give me one that can compile CM10.1, one that handles AOKP and maybe a few that make some hybrids. I mentioned it simply because I saw the Android Police article. And yes, it has moved into the official line up of supported devices as of 7/21. I understand the AOKP home is rootzwiki but thought it should be mentioned here with all the rest of other ROMs being developed.

This device is so underrated and is now becoming a real beast in the dev support community. We have AOKP, CM 10.2, Clean, Mallidus, Vanir AOSP, roms with more development showing up everyday. It may not be an offical "nexus" device, but with LOKI and root, it's beginning to feel that way. I came from the GNex and I remember the support that device got. I made the right choice!!

What!? I think you are confused or maybe I misunderstand you. Vanir is AOSP and while AOKP may share many hardware repos I'm not sure I'd consider is CM based especially since the whole caf debacle. And by stock you mean based off LG ROM?
Many of the devs worked tirelessly together to bring these to fruition at the same time. I dont think any one dev or team can take credit.

There are actually 4 American models. Sprint currently doesn't have their section yet. It's just the sad way things are done over here. Carriers like to lock in their customers and each tends to offer a slightly different variant. Whether that be the slight difference in physical look or the type of radios included for a GSM or CDMA carrier, American carriers like to limit customer options.
