[Q] Force close on Settings / Owner Info

Really strange issue, have the Rogers I747 version of the S3, and when you go to Settings / Security / Owner Information it just fades out, and says 'Unfortunately, Settings has stopped. [OK]"
Any clues?

This is a general question, it happened to my Galaxy S3 i9300.
If I don't post it here, you would prefer me to create another thread with the same title and topic?

According to the email I received from Samsung support a factort reset would fix this issue. But I don't wanna do that cause I'm pretty sure there's an app which is messing it up.

I am trying to avoid using factory reset also.
I think maybe we have to uninstall the apps one by one.
Sorry to bump this, but I only just spotted it.
I have an I9300 international version with the same problem.
I never set the "owner information" but it was automatically downloaded into the phone when I swapped out my old HTC Desire.
The correct information displays correctly on the lock screen but I cannot change it. I think that what's happened is that the saved information is bigger than the dialog box han handle and it crashes when trying to edit the saved information.

Please help

After I flashed the dragon Jellybean on my tmo gs3. It's totally dead. No response. I can't even get into the download mode. Please help. Battery is charged. I just got the gs3 today. Anyone please help, thank you.
Firstly, you have posted this in the wrong section, and looks like you didnt search either
if i remember correctly, the T-Mobile Galaxy SIII is not the International i9300...so you have flashed a firmware that is not compatible with your phone
You may have to send it back...

No, it's US version.
Anyone knows how to unbrick it?
I would suggest looking in the T-Mobile Galaxy SIII section
In this case only with a JIG it is possible to go into download mode.

Thank you guys for not flaming. :victory:
OP, questions belong in the Q&A section and not development section. Thank you.
I would also try taking it back to the store, simply saying that it just won't boot. I have a feeling they might just give you a new one right away. If they ask whether you have modified it somehow, just pretend like you're stupid and don't know what they're talking about.
That's what I would do.
But then again, I'm a bad guy and have no shame. I don't know about you.

Sell S3 for an LG Nexus 4

Does anybody else think selling the S3 and getting a nexus 4 is a good idea? If so why and why not? Is anybody going to do that?

[Q] Can I replace a i9300 motherboard with a i747 motherboard??

Hello Everyone,
I bricked my galaxy sIII i9300 bought in Europe. Now I am looking for a motherboard replacement and found a i747 motherboard in ebay. My question is can I replace the i9300 motherboard with i747 motherboard? If they are not compatible, can you suggest me a way to replace my motherboard?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Madan Raj
Although to save you having the thread moved or reposting.... the answer is no. You do not want a US model motherboard

Thanks!
Thanks for the answer, but can you please tell me why is not a good idea? I would be glad to know the reason as well.
And about reposting: where should I repost this question?

...because you wont be able to use the phone!
Its a completely different phone with different CPU and graphics card and connects to completely different network frequencies to the rest of the world.

Just outta curiosity, regard hardware and frequency, if their screen are same, is it possible to switch motherboard?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
No idea. Don't even know if the screen is the same or has the same fittings. How many essential components that aren't part of the motherboard need to connect to the replacement and work? What voltage do those components need?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I think you can switch the screen setup of both models, but not sure. I read somewhere that its possible to switch screens. Let me lookit up and share it with you guys.
I was worried about the motherboard and now it seems I have no other choice than dumping my s3 or wait untill I get a i9300 motherboard
Anyways, thanks guys for sharing the information. Just let me know if have to keep something in mind before buying a motherboard. Any help or suggestions are appreciated!
Cheers!

Yes and also it is a different phone now. You get same result by putting motherboard in plastic bag.
