Hello, I'm new here and this is my first thread so if it's not in the right place i apologize...
Firstly, I know nothing about developing and nothing about what a kernel does or anything like this, I just know how to flash things and read tutorials haha
Few questions for my LG p990 - 3 UK
I've looked around and haven't found anything about tethering that helps me, I'm wondering if there's a way of tethering with out being charged for this? I've got completely unlimited internet for my phone but i will get charged if i tether, Is there anyway to bypass this and use my 3G internet on a laptop?
Also about xbmc, I've used xbmc since the original xbox and actually still use my old xbmc xbox on a daily basis but using it for HD films obviously doesn't work, Now xbmc on the optimus is fairly stable but i unerstand that no one's got the tegra2 optimized to work with HD unless it's on the original ROM, Will this change soon or am i going to have to upgrade my phone (Running CM7 and love it and would hate to go back to standard ROM)
And... I've tried other kernels and they just don't work well with CM7 if atall! but i would like to be able to overclock my phone, It's powerful enough but more power is never a bad thing. Is there any very stable released kernels and ROMS that will allow me to overclock and be awesome?!
And the last thing... I read somewhere that S2 korean keyboard is apparently almost as good as the iphones and some mentioned backporting it to work on any android phone? First thing would it be in english? and would it be better than the jellybean keyboard i've got installed at the minute (tried every keyboard on the android market and this one beats them all!)
Thank you, And please go easy on me for being a pain... I'm only 19 and i'm more of a graphic designer and nowhere near a developer.
Hi,
I really intersting in android tv box, and I found many types with its own features but unfortunately, there is no one had all these features.
The best one I found till now is ug007 and imito mx1&2 ( the MINIX NEO X5 is large) but all of them dont have built in camera and mic, and I know that there is other tv boxes have these 2 features but they lack powerful CPU and Bluetooth hardware.
So, I want to aske if there is an application can be installed on my android phone to use it as a webcam and mic for that android based TV Box (for skype and other chatting programs)? And if not, please can any one make it?
Yes, I know that there are ones like this application in google play market, but as I thought they are for Windows PC! Correct me if I am wrong.
And yes I also know that I can use external webcam, but actually I dont want to buy multiple one to test which is worke and not.
Thank you, but really it will be great to make a video call while you lying down on the bed in front of your tv

Hello I just ordered the minix neo x5. After my gbox midnight arrived (terrible box!) I plugged my 14 dollar Web Cam and mic I got from a local radioshack worked just fine. So i think its just trial and error. Look for a cam/mic set that is compatible with linux that will 90 percent of the time work.

The Minix X5 needs its ow forum. How do you system update it to 4.1.1, How do you get rid of the onscreen virtual keyboard etc...?
I'm waiting delivery of my Minix Neo X5 to see how it goes.
In the meantime I've dome some reading and found some info..
I haven't tested any of these apps yet though.
Null Keyboard app will get rid of the onscreen keyboard.
TV Box Launcher will help organize the screen into a more TV Box compatible view
And the link below "should" have some info on upgrading.

Got everything done. The 4.1.1 update made vast performance improvements. I'm going to search for null now. Thank you for your reply.

I am looking into getting a android tablet for my upcoming school year. I currently have a dell inspiron 1521 as my main work horse machine for the school day and i have a dell optiplex 745 at home for a desktop, both run windows 8.1 and i am happy with them. However, i find a 15 inch laptop to be cumbersom at times. I also carry around a samsung galaxy player 4.0 running cyanogenmod 10.2 and it works fine, yet a 4 inch screen is a bit small. I want a quad core tablet with a snapdragon processor like the new nexus 7 but the problem is that i am weary of all of the touch screen and gps problems. is there another tablet out there that people would recomend over this or is there a bug fix in the works taht is coming out very soon.
Well I got excited when I saw XBMC on android a week ago and I know its been out for awhile but it does not load on my Google TV (Sony GSZ-GT1) surprise surprise. Nothing ever loads on this.
My question is though, I see that it works on almost any android that is above 4.0. I was thinking about buying a little cheap android stick from my Chinese friends over at DX but was curious if anyone saw an issue as to why it wouldn't run on a generic device? The device I am looking at is 4.2.2 so it should run without questions right?

Hello Guys,
I have bought a Dell Latitude t02g Table. The specs looks great - Windows 7 Pro - 1.5ghz atom processor, 2 GB Ram, 64GB SSD.
I think the specs are great but its just too damn sluggish when i run facebook or any flash games on it. very unresponsive on normal browsing.
I think this tablet can be great on Google Android x86 platform but After doing a lot of research - I see that people have installed LUBUNTU on it or windows 8 on it and are in a compromised situation. Where Windows 8 has blue screens and etc and moving on Lubuntu, has limited the functionality of he hardware graphics and rotations.
So much money paid for a device that promises a lot and so much disappointment .
I just wish if we could have a forum for this device where the XDA Team can make something super for this device - maybe an android port over that fully works and makes teh tablet smooth like other tablets.
Do you think there is something already out there that has fixed the tablet and makes it shine like a star as advertised? or will there be further enhancements on this and i can wait for it?
Or should i just sell it off for literally peanuts and forget about it
Any help/ hints would be great.
Thanks
AJ

I also wanted to know if for the dell latitude 10 st2 there was solution?
Try the latest windows. That's what I did. To make good use out of it. I installed Kodi n hooked it up to my TV via HDMI worked well. N then sold after a few weeks. Let me know how it goes
There's a fork of android for x86 architecture (http://www.android-x86.org/ ). Some year or two ago I tried few of provided builds but with mixed success. The issues is that bundled drivers are either generic and performance is bad, or different builds have different modules working ( like WiFi but no sound or sound but no WiFi)
It's not that difficult to get two kernel .config files from two most "working" builds and merge them together and build a new kernel, but the process itself is very time consuming (you have to compare files option by option manually, automerge is not an option in this case)
Builds were tegav2, asus_laptop and eeepc
Looks like http://www.android-x86.org/ project moved quite far since that time so maybe you want to give it a try. It's rather brick-safe and you can always go back to Windows/Linux.
Speaking of which, right now my ST has Win10 installed, but performance is bad. I'm thinking of installing clean ubuntu (from Minimal CD) with i3 WM to get maximum out of that hardware. On other laptop with similar specs such setup looks very promising
