sorry that i have problem when i install 3rd party apps. i was accept to install 3rd party apps but when go to install, i cannot press "INSTALL" to continue. I have reset my phone yesterday and it is okay after that. I don't know which apps cause this, how can i solve this problem, i don't want to reset again
I get this as well, I thought it was because the apps weren't compatible with the phone but one of them worked when downloaded from the play store. Unknown sources install is ticked.
i had no such issue but u must hard reset ur phone, and that if no working u gotta demand new unit from the shop or give it away for month so they can flash working rom....
or flash it ur self a better rom like dooom lord speed thing
some apps there is not at play store, I only can install from apk, now i cannot install those apps, that mean's i need to reset again and again when i get this problem, I don't know which apps is not complicate to XS....
it is really disappointed to this issue...i need to reset this every time, if this issue cannot improve after ICS update, I think the only way is change other phone only...so sad, I like xperia design so much, from X10-->arc-->XS
Try to tick unknown sources.
I think here some incomrativity between some apps.

Hi, I am based in HongKong. I received a Prime purchased in US 3 days ago, already updated to ICS pre purchase and with latest market version. However I have been facing couple of serious issues :
1. While I can see all the paid apps while browsing the market but if i try to purchase anything, it given me "error: item you are trying to purchase cannot be found". I tried purchasing same app from my HTC DHD (rooted w Android Revolution ROM) and did not face any problem! HongKong does have paid app availability so I dont think root should be necessary unless ICS changed that?
2. The search in the market seems horribly broken. I dont even get Skype to show up if i search for it. I had to google and follow the link to market to download it..
Any suggestions? Do I need to reinstall ICS? I have already tried doing a factory reset but it dint help..
China firewall censored it. LOLJK but I don't know.

hehe.. well thnks for trying! i wud have actually thought something like that too but given it works all fine on phones.. had to eliminate that option.
good news.. think the problem got solved for me after I did a hard reboot. Hold the power button down+VolDown button during startup till it takes you to the Wipe Data screen. After wiping data when it restarted I DID NOT ENTER MY GMAIL ID. (i dont know if that made the difference but thought will mention it). I skipped the gmail entry at startup and went straight to the market and entered gmail id there when asked. Could start to purchase apps fine now
Hope it helps anyone else facing the issue.
PS: I did a reinstall of ICS prior to trying the hard reboot.. but just reinstall alone did not help.
First of all, Droid RAZR xt912 running PACman ROM 4.22. For some reason, no matter what ROM I use (Albeit some that I used a long time ago), I am unable to install applications from "unknown sources". Yes. I do realize there is a setting for that. Yes, I do have it selected. The applications download just find, but when it gets to the screen where it displays the permissions and inquires "are you sure you want to install this app? (Cancel/Install) I am unable to click the install button no matter what I do, and it's pretty frustrating. I am, however, able to select "cancel". Any help/ ideas/ suggestions would be appreciated.
Its kinda funny problem and I've never heard about this kind of problem but its ok , do a full wipe and wipe ya caches too and try installing third party apps . I hope this would work but if it doesn't just let us know
Please hit the thanks  if i ever helped ya !!
Check if there's some other security app that might be causing it.
Turn off Google app verification.
There are some package installer available, try that too. ES file explorer also has a package installer, try that.

It was an app I learned, for some reason it was "twilight" from the play store. It is intended to remove blue light at night to help you sleep. It had an option to fix this known bug.
Actually, the option says it fixes it, but it doesn't' seem to for me. However, moving the .apk file into system apps seems to work.
Hi people!
I need someone who has the aforementioned files to gently hand me, because I was messing up with root uninstalling apps with a app named root uninstaller, and I had the unfortunate luck of the app being bugged and instead of clicking on the app I wanted to uninstall, it choosed the next app (which was the Contacts app) and voila, I accidentally clicked on the uninstall button, no going back. Now I can't dial anyone or add contacts.. Because I simply don't have any valid Contacts apk. Any suggestion to solve this irritating problem is welcome! I want to stray away as much as possible from ROM Flash/Reflash or factory reset so don't suggest me that unless there is really no option.
Thanks in the advance,

Download a call/sms app from Play then. You don't even mention which device....

I haven't mentioned my device cuz i don't think it is worth it.. It is very far from being a known device, being restricted to Portugal very mainly.. It is a meo smart a12, and the technical name is ZTE Blade C2 V809(chinese manufacter, unless I flash a custom recovery, the recovery mode is in chinese, which complicates the things by a pretty big amount shall I need it..) I think that the contact apps around in the Play Store interface in one way or another with the Android Contacts app.. So I don't think it's worth giving a shot, but if you know any apps, let me know too..
Bump! I really need help people!

Make sure you install your root app (SuperSU or Superuser) and Xposed into /system/app if not already. For backing up apps and Settings, I prefer Titanium Backup. Reset in recovery.
If you want to know what's causing the lag, it's possible that a logcat could tell us what's going on. There's plenty of info on here and Google about how to run a logcat.

You'd have to run the logcat when it starts to lag and post it for others to take a look at. Copy and paste to pastebin.com and provide the link. It's not my forte, though I understand some of it. Hopefully someone else will come by and check it out.
Thing is the lag is sooo fast, like its just spikes?

Sounds like a badly coded app causing memory leaks which is utilizing too much RAM. After a reset, might be best to start adding back apps a few at a time to try and pinpoint the problem.
Hey XDA!
I have this unique problem where my phone refuses to install anything outside the Play Store. Manually downloaded APK will not install, updates from System App Updater also will not install. Anything from MI Store will also not install.
Apps from the Play Store install just fine.
I've checked every single setting that could cause this. Only thing I haven't tried is a Factory Reset.
Please advise.

I would think that you have set another app to install apks, like firefox, and that app is failing or has failed following the update. See what apps can install apks and see whether the app has the right permissions in settings. If necc remove the app and reinstall. OR - there is a setting under Security which has to be enabled for unkown sources. Perhaps the 10.3..7 update has reverted the status of this setting?
All settings are in their default state.
I reset app preferences, unknown sources is also enabled. This problem is preventing even Xiaomi from installing its own apps. I cleared data of package installer. As I said above, I tried EVERYTHING.
Any thing from the Play Store installs and updates just fine. Anything else gets stuck at the "Installing" screen and then twenty minutes later says... "Xyz App failed to install."
I have plenty of space.
Phone is pure stock.
For APKs you need an all installer app. Don't know why other apps do not install. I am on 10.3.7.0 Global Stable Rom stock locked bootloader and do not have any problems at all. Phone runs perfectly.

Try disabling Play Store Protect. I had similiar issue once. But only with few apps (like Lucky Patcher)

Mentioning WAREZ on XDA means you're liable to get an infraction/ban. Please don't do that and edit your post to remove it.

Warez - Illegally obtained or compromised software.
It is not a warez, its not a website with it. Its a tool, so how can It be banable, I don't I encourage anyone to use it so ban would be out of context. Also I am pretty sure no one would know What is L*** P******
can you try APKPURE ?
First of all, I appreciate all of your replies. But I am slightly annoyed that most of you either did not read what I typed or are suggesting I circumvent Android's built in protection just to get around a bug.
That is NOT a solution. Especially considering I'm the ONLY one facing this issue and that it isn't a wide spread one.
Regardless, as I've mentioned before, I'VE TRIED EVERY SINGLE LOGICAL THING POSSIBLE within my knowledge...
I eventually Factory Reset my phone.
And now everything is working as it should.
I have a feeling this problem arose because of either a bug with Xiaomi "Security" app or with the Xiaomi "Themes" app. But I'm not an expert. I've sent logs to Xioami through Feedback App.
I hope none of you face this issue.
Again to summarize : Factory Reset Solved My Problem.

this is a communty forum! non of us liable to provide any solution to anyone but to share our experiences like at the end you did!
everyone of use face problems which for us is unique and some times the solution is also either unique or at the end its either reflashing or factory reseting the device which we all know will fix any problem but will it reach to the cause? thats another story!
so where on xda we all just share our experience this is not a helpline
Hi, I face this problem too for my father's phone red mi 2. As I can tell you, after factory reset, I face this problem after a while again. I don't know what is it.

Check the security app. Tick off the scan before installing. I'm on the latest 11.0.8 stable and everything works fine on my end. But from what I can see that may be the cause of your problems

You know you are being disrespectful. First of all this is a tech page/group/whatever. Have you seen most of the posts here? Most are about rooting, bypassing, etc. And you yourself have said that you have tried everything except doing a factory reset right? Well people are providing you solutions before doing that. If you have nothing good to say then just don't say it. Didn't your mom or guardian or whoever teach you manners?
If you didn't want to do anything like rooting or whatever, then right it down. Don't expect people to be psychics to know what you want. ??

Now, which part here did you say that we didn't read what you said? And which statement said that we disregarded "Android's builtin protection"? Are you alright? You do know that the security app is not a "builtin" android protection software right? That's Xiaomi. The only builtin security from Android are security patches and play protect, or didn't you know that? You said you tried everything, but aside from downloadinh apks, did you say from where you installed it? Did you install it using Chrome after downloading them? Did you ever try opening the apks from a file manager? Did you try turning off play protect? Or turning off the security scan toggle wherein it says "scan before installing"?
You said this is only your issue, yet you are annoyed at people giving you advice and options when you yourself never even mentioned whether you are rooted or if you didn't want to "turn off security".
Glad you solved your issue, but next time if you want specific advice note it down and don't be a jerk to people who only want to help.
I had this issue and solved it by using the original file manager instead of ES file manager.
