Beats audio mod - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello and good morning fans of vibrant. I have a hot question that's been on my mind for a while. Beats audio mod has been out for a while and I haven't heard many people talk about it. I seen it in the kernel bible but not sure if it works for us users. My question is has anyone tired it and if so then what's the method of installation?

[Q] (Q)Bluetooth HID wiimote

hey guys love the forum thank you to all the Devs for there great work
now i must ask i know its been asked before but i never found a clear answer im currenty on bionix v 1.2.1 with the DOW14HD kernel....and i also love to use me vibrant to play games on my LCDTV iwould also like to connect my wiimote as so many already do for there phones is there a way to get bluetooth HID into my phone to do this?
is there a rom for the vibrant that has HID in it i dont know about?
Thanks
anyone....anyone....anyone........ you in the back
There currently isn't a Rom for this phone that has a compatible bluetooth stack other than cyanogen which is unstable. Or at least one that im aware of... There are other devices (zeemote or whatever it is) that work but I personally don't like the look and feel of it...
I will personally go find and post the solution in all of the threads concerning this when I find a reasonable method
hey thanks for the reply.....do you hapen to know if the CM7 scrizz pointed out in q & a forums supports it?

This was asked in that thread...but no one answered. While CM7 seems 'stable enough' there's a series of procedures you need to perform post flash in order to get everything working properly, so it's not recommended if you aren't willing to get a little dirty. I want wiimote functionality real bad as well, but not so bad that I can't wait for CM7 to be 100%
yea thats true im on bionix-v.....we will have to wait and see....guess theresnot enuff mobile gamers to get the wiimote development going.
patiences is a key.......
I'm running Cm7 right now and setup only took 15 mins and its really stable i dont have a wiimote tho so i cant say if it does work or not
see the only thing im worried about with CM7 as of now....is that theres no TV out....thats one of the best features on SGS line.....im ganna wait until thats fixed...but also the BLUETOOTH HID san also be used by a bluetooth keyboard or mouse.....just to try.
agreed agreed
Wii remote does work in CM7, but as mentioned, no video out (or GPS).
Are there any roms that support tv out as well as bluetooth controller support? I haven't noticed any but I don't follow too many of them...

[Q] Does the vibrant 3g roms work for vibrant 4g

I just purchased a new vibrant 4g which is currently on its way. My question is will I be able to root it with the same process as the 3g vibrant and will I be able to use Masters/Team Whiskey roms on them can anyone please explain. I never post on xda so hopefully this is where this type of question belongs.....
No they are different enough they will not just flash, but converting Say a trigger or other Rom to the 4g will be totally doable, just depends on whether the devs actually get that phone. My guess not many will.
thanks for the response that really sucks I know I could have done the modification for the ffc on my own I really needed the 4g tethering so that was the only reason I gave up my vibrant. Looks at the specs the phones are pretty much exactly the same I see most devs taking the vibrant 4g and porting them over to the vibrant 3g I was hope I was going to be able to use some of the roms which sucks. I may just keep the vibrant 3g and not sell it not... thats dissappointing news thanks for the info

Now to give you an answer: I have both phones. The 4g will have custom ROM's infact there are already 3 of them made by team whiskey. The problem is not having CWM working on our 4g phones yet. However, someone over at TW will be looking into getting this going this weekend. Once that is finished we will be capable of running custom ROM's
One good thing that bruce lee doesn't understand is that all these new PORTS the vibrant have been getting will require less modifying to work on the 4G.. Much smoother.
Bruce Lee sorry to kinda kick ya there, but how about not being a **** when your asking some noobish questions in your thread yourself. Everyone learns by asking questions.
Omg! just joshing. Although it is funny how all these people sooo anxious to hop on the latest and greatest where so sure 4g was going to be the natural progression of development. And despite many saying a ride on 4g wagon was illogical since theres no real advantage, an unlucky few still jumped.
Hey look, stop lying to these people; exclusive development for the 4g will likely never pick up. Even on tw own forum, was a guy advised to return the 4g because of its grim future. Every two years your carrier gives you the option to "upgrade" to a better phone not "side-step" to an equally comparable phone.
And just to be clear, I'm not trying to poke fun at the questioner. The above post is correct to state that no question is dumb are irrelevant and I live by this philosophy, as my previous post prove, and I am not ashamed of that. This was just a knee jerk reaction to some who i consider delusional in thinking 4g is so much more superior. Just thinking out loud

Lovemysgs is correct, there are a couple- 3, And without CWM flashing them is not as easy as most are used to, So, depending on your understanding of how to mod the phone and how to use some of the other tools like adb SDK and Odin, I usually tell the less skilled or the less familiar to wait until the beta becomes a normal release.
Also, when they do mod these roms it WILL be much easier like lovemysgs said. The only real problem is alot of devs will have moved on to other phones since this is not really a new phone just an upgrade to the Vibrant. So I would guess there will be less support.
Good question BTW
The roms wont work but u can still change a few things on it. The Linda sounds posted in the theme section works. You just have to move the files with root explorer. Also the transition animations done through metaphorph work. And you can change the touchwiz launcher with sgs tools. And you can change the shutdown but not the bootup animations.

ICS ROM integration with Beats audio kernel?

Setting all debate aside about whether or not Beats audio actually sounds different, how hard would it be to splice together Beats from the Olympus ROM and Joelz' or preludedrew's ICS roms? I know Beats relies on specific kernel elements as well as integration in both the system (Sense-dependant?) and the Music app. Would the issue only be porting over sense-dependant elements or is there more getting in the way?

From what I understand, it would be almost impossible or take a ton of extra work. I believe it goes a lot deeper then just an .apk or two. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Plus, you can't have full beats support ever again.

Whats this?
It was illegal to port beats which is proprietary. But if HTC included with the ICS upgrae they promised us then it would be legal to hack it up for our device
Yep, I literally just read in the dev forums that the Beats part of the kernel was affected as well... however many still have the RLS9 kernel from chad
No AOSP ROM has Beats yet, just much much nicer audio drivers. I don't think is going to happen, and since the hardcore CM devs will turn their noses up at such a thing as Beats, I wouldn't count on it in the future.

[Q] testers needed for a port

Hello guys, I'm killswitch and I'm normally over at the samsung captivate and galaxy s2 sections of XDA, but i have come here with a request. A little background story first: My friend got an HTC Evo design 4g because a cute girl talked him into getting it. Dead serious right now. He was disappointed to find no ROMS for his phone, and not too long ago i searched and found no roms either. He asked me to port anything for him, preferably AOSP since he hates sense. If i were to port an AOSP rom like CM7 to his phone, what are the chances one of you has an evo design you wouldn't mind testing the ROM for me with? I'd just hate to mess up and kill his phone. This would be my very first port, ever. However, if it makes you feel any better, i would be using a porting guide with very good feedback from here at XDA developers. I can post a link if you'd like.
On a similar note: for months now I've been wanting to get into ROM development/porting. Now is a great time for me to start. Anybody know where i can find a mentor/good starting thread/information?
All is greatly appreciated, thank you very much

[Q] CM9/AOSP/AOKP Bluetooth Question

Hi,
I'm currently S-ON rooted running a Senseless ROM. I've been tempted to go full AOSP/AOKP/CM9, but I keep seeing a caveat for the ROMs that there are issues with Bluetooth Calls. Before I plunge down that path could someone please elaborate on what the specific issue is? What should I expect? Are there workarounds?
I use bluetooth frequently in the car, so it has the potential to be quite important to me.
My understanding is that it is related to the kernel source being used and that is why it plagues all the versions, is this something that can be expected to be fixed, or will it always be an issue?
Thanks!
Bluetooth media will work fine. The issue with the calling is u only hear static. There's no fix or work around at this time.
Its being worked on at the moment. Could be tomorrow or next year. You never really know with these things.
Nobody is working on it right now. Chad wants to get to it, but he is really busy. (Devs have lives outside of XDA)
Wow your nitpicking? Hell must be freezing over right now! OK its not being worked on right this second but when Chad gets more time he will continue to work on it. Btw who said devs don't have lives and that we think they have to do whatever we want when we want?

Thanks for the clarification guys, these were just questions and clarifications, not a commentary on the fantastic devs we have [/no snark] I do predominately make calls in the car via bluetooth so I'll probably be holding off until there is a fix/workaround.
I did see it mentioned directly related to CM9 for other devices, not sure if it's related... http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=5349
