I have this problem sometimes where new files won't show up for a while. Try take a look at this app on Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.addz.mediascanner&hl=en
When I copy new media over and it doesn't register I do this:
1) Go to Settings -> App Manager -> ALL -> Gallery -> (Force Stop and Clear Cache/Data)
2) Go to Settings -> App Manager -> ALL -> Media Storage -> Clear all Data and Cache (and force stop is possible).
3) Run the Media Scan app linked above.
4) Wait 35-80 seconds
5) Reboot phone.
If that still doesnt work I try taking SD card out and then rebooting with it out and putting it back in ^^

I installed omega ROM v2 ics 4.0.4
I noticed that there is something called (media) drain my battery
I didn't have this problem with omega v1
Any idea's ?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
1) Apps/all - media storage; clear data
2) Whenever you reboot the phone, close the media process manually if you need to.
Dr Droid ???? Physician heal thyself ????
jje
maybe a fix
i had the same problem after wipe clean and fresh install of JB.
I dont know exactly what solved it but here is what i did:
1. disable media store
2. clear media store data
2.5 executed playerpro application while media store is disabled
3. deleted all .nomedia files i could find
4. deleted the Player Pro album art directory content.
5. deleted all image caches of all applications i could find
6. enabled media store
im on sgs3
I ran the HTC bootloader unlock last night, and now the gallery app doesn't see any of the photos that were in my dcim photos folder before I ran it. It sees any new photo I take, but but not any of the old ones in the same folder. I've remounted the sdcard and power cycled the phone with no luck. Any thoughts?

Have you tried to run a fix permissions to see if that allows the files to be indexed properly?

Not sure what you mean by that, so no, but they show up correctly in es file explorer (if that helps). How would I be able to find out if I need to fix permissions? It's probably also worth mentioning that other image apps, like quickpik, have no problem seeing all of the photos in that folder.
Thanks
Well if other apps see them, then the permissions may be fine.
have you tried clearing the cache through the Apps menu for Gallery?

I have - not only that, I've moved some pictures into a temporary folder to see if it would see them in a different folder, and it did. I've moved them back to the regular folder, and it still sees them in the new folder I created. I've even deleted that new folder completely, but it still sees all of those photos in this now non-existant folder.
What the hell? How do you get the gallery app to refresh properly?
Edit - and now it's duplicating gallerries. WTH? Is there any way to reinstall the stock gallery?
Here's what I did. Presumably this will fix all sorts of gallery issues.
1 - install SDrescan from the play store. This is the fourth sdcard rescanner I've tried to use to fix this, and the only one that worked correctly
2 - in app manager, stop the "Gallery" app, and clear data and cache
3 - in app manager clear data for the "Media Storage" app
4 - run the SDrescan app from step 1, wait for it to finish
5 - wait a few minutes, reboot, wait some more, and the gallery should be correct.
Hey,
I have a navigation folder with images in it. I put a .nomedia in the file to prevent the images from showing up in gallery. However, they do still show in gallery. Am I doing something wrong? Im dumbfounded now....
OK Well I have quickpic installed. I added .nomedia file to a directory and it instantly disappeared from quickpic but not from the samsung gallery, even after a reboot.
I removed the file and it instantly showed back in Quickpic. Added and it went again.
So either;
1) The Samsung gallery ignores this .nomedia
2) The Samsung gallery does not necessarily scan the SDcard on a reboot and hasn't found the .nomedia file yet.
All I can do is wait to see if at somepoint, that directory disappears from samsung gallery.
As a work around, use quickpic as a gallery replacement perhaps.
Samsung gallery only scans it on first time, so
Place .nomedia files in all the folders you do not want displayed in Gallery
Go to settings - apps - gallery
Clear cache, clear data, force close
Go to settings - apps - media storage
Clear cache, clear data, force close
Hard reset (cold boot) this will not delete any data

that worked like a charm. Stupid me, this happened to me before on CM9 using sgs2. The AOSP gallery was exactly the same.....
I think it also works if you :-
unmount the SD card,
run the gallery app and let it sort itself out,
close the gallery app,
mount the SD card,
run the gallery app again
It's WORKSSSS !! THAAAAAAAANKKKSSS...
All my picasa album gone from my phone gallery.. lool
Send from my GALAXY S !!!
put a .nomedia file in folder where gallery doesn't scan, it will exclude subfolder too.
rename that folder as .foldername and try to open gallery, it will crash.
rename back to foldername and open gallery ... no more unwated pics.
I have a DOMO Slate N9 SE tablet running on ICS 4.0.3. Everything is working fine but I cannot sign in to YouTube.
When I click on YouTube for the first time, it crashes saying 'Unfortunately Android System has stopped' and the next time it gets stuck on 'Signing in'. If I clear data, again it says 'Unfortunately Android System has stopped' and then keeps on getting stuck at signing in.
But when I use applications like Opera Mini and Flipboard and load a video, the YouTube app opens and runs the video. When I click on 'like' to like that video, I get a pop-up screen asking me to log in using my Google account. When I click on it, I get the same error, 'Unfortunately Android System has stopped'.
I think there are system files missing in the device. The ICS ROM did not even have CalendarSyncAdapter.apk and I had to manually install it. So I think even the YouTube error is due to some missing system files.
I have tried several other versions of YouTube app too but I get the same error.
What shall I do? Please help. BTW my device is rooted.
Thank you.
Alright I took an apk file of YouTube from the internet and placed it in with my 'system/apps' folder with the permissions being 'rw-r-r' and I am able to sign in now.
But well I want it on my SD card, what can I do now?

Also were you able to root it bro?
Can't remember the last time i used it, but tried to open it today and system says app isn't installed.
Icon is in the app drawer, but can't find it anywhere.
What's going on?

Strange. You or something has changed settings. Doesn't happen on its own.
Check your default apps and that it is set correctly:
Settings>>>App Management>>>>Default App
Check Phone is set to "system default". If not go into the list and select.
Hope that works.
If not...looks like a factory reset or update via recovery
Had the same issue.
I fixed it by going into "Settings>>>App Management>>>>Default App" and then change the System Launcher back to the default one that comes with the phone. I was using Microsoft Launcher before. Then, find the Phone Manager app and run it.
This is absolutely stupid. No idea why you can't run the same app in a different launcher. Oh well.
hii
a common issue
Sometimes the phone manager App doesn't come pre-installed, install it from play store.
For me, I clicked phone manager and then a message came out: Error 101. What is that?

A quick search helps:
Solve Error Code 101 in Google Play Store
The error 101 occurs due to the memory issue, which can be ROM / SD-card storage / Cache memory. But this error mostly gets solved by deleting some unused apps or by freeing the SD card memory.
Solution 1: Free memory card space by deleting unused Apps or content. Also, free up the Phone internal storage. It should solve the problem.
Solution 2: Remove the Google Account and open the Play store again and log in.
Solution 3: Uninstall Play store Updates Go To Settings Select Manage Applications or APPS Manager Tap on ALL Scroll and Look for “Google Play Store” Clear Cache and Data Click on Force Stop Select Uninstall Updates Reboot you phone and try again
Solution 4: Clearing cache and Data for Google Apps Go to Settings Select to Application Manager or Apps Under All , look for Google Services Framework Clear Data Cache and Click Force Stop NOW do the Same With Google PLAY STORE, Google Play Services, Download Manager Reboot your Phone, it should be working fine now.
