Hi all!
I'm looking for an Android RDP Client that works with Windows 8 in a home network.
On Win 7 I used the fabulous "remote RDP" app but until now this one doesn't support Win8.
Anyone has any app tips?
greez Zero
Would suggest do not use a rdp server
I have been trying a few different ones, I do not think using a server on Windows 8 is wise.
Itap seems to be working good, but I am testing it on a phone, rather than a tablet.
Minimum resolution for Windows 8 is 1024x768 is important.
I would not hurt to try various ones, but I would again say should not need an application on the host.
Ive been looking for too!

I want to use my pc from my tablet to play runescape has anyone got any clue how?
The image quality/fps over a remote connection may not work too well for a flash game, but it might be playable. I have attempted vnc and remote desktop clients on android in the past, but my favorite is LogMeIn which is $30 in the market but has no monthly fee. LogMeIn works really well and gets around firewalls without any effort.

I was looking at that at one point..not sure...would be easier if this ran java lol
I use Vino (linux VNC server) on my netbook and access it using my Android devices using androidVNC. There's hardly any lag, and you could use that to play Runescape.
Both VNC and Team Viewer work wonderfully. I have both and regularly access my home pc with TV.

may help. They seem to use an vnc client called mocha (available on Market), and RealVNC on the windows machine. I haven't personally used this.
I use PocketCloud on the tablet with TightVNC server on the windows machine. The performance is good, but not good enough for games.

I am looking forward to getting my hands on wp8 most likely a lumia 920. My question is does anyone know of remote desktop software? I was really dissapointed that wp7 did not have one that was as easy as teamviewer. I have emailed teamviewer with the usual reply " if something is developed we will let you know." I have tried all the remote apps onn my wp7 to log into my work pc and no success. I have to resort to teamviewer on my laptop or my tablet. Does anyone know any inside knowledge or is it due to fact that I had a wp7 rom on my hd2 that prevented the remote control apps to work?

I have tried pc remote but my works ip address is hidden. I need something that works like teamview where you just log in and connect. I may try pc remote again and see what i can tinker with
I'm looking for something as well. The RDP metro app on Windows RT is really neat, I don't know why they just don't have it on windows phone 8. The thing that is killing me is the lack of VPN. Even Windows RT has built-in VPN and it works great.
I have been playing around with Splashtop 2, it's great but the one thing that makes my sphincter tighten is the monthly/yearly pay plans to use it on other networks.
I would like to see if there are other options for remote desktop apps that also work exactly like Splashtop 2, I.E. full support for Windows 8 gestures that do not have pay plans, one payment to use forever, or perhaps even free.
Another thing that bugs me is that Splashtop does not fill the entire GTab screen, it just picks a resolution that comes close.
For now I guess I'll keep using TeamViewer, but that whole thing is a pain in my knuckles.
I have been using xtralogic remote desktop for a year now to connect to my win7 desktop.
It is a full featured rdp client that connects to any rdp enabled machine.
Since 4 months the company I work for is even using this to remotely connect to a win7 server on a professional and daily basis.
What I like most about it is that you don't have to install any software on the server side, just be sure rdp is enabled.
One time payment and working great.

I'll check it out and see how it works with Windows 8.
Thanks!
UPDATE:
This is a nice application, works just the way I want it to.
The only thing missing is hardware acceleration to make it a bit smoother but otherwise it's excellent.
Thanks again!
Tips for the best remote desktop app for Windows running on a Nexus 9?
What exactly do you mean? Being able to connect to a system running windows via windows remote desktop?
Or connecting to your device via windows remote desktop?
For the first one.. hooow about... something by M$? Like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.rdc.android
For the latter: I don't know if this works at all. It's hard enough to get it running properly on a non-windows-system. (XRDP for linux) Android? No way.
Cheers.
Thanks, meant the first alternative.
How about Chrome remote desktop?
Splashtop

Maybe Splashtop for lowest latency?
I can highly recommend you Splashtop!
If you want to remote games I would recommend you limelight!
Try Google Chrome Remote, or Teamviewer.
Teamviewer works incredibly well for me. I have it on all my windows machines and my Android phone and tablet. Makes remote access a breeze!
Splashtop works with N7 Flo running latest L preview. I have Windows 7 on PC. Love Splashtop.

Chrome Remote Desktop is amazing. And very easy to use. I like it a ton more than splashtop or teamviewer.

VNC too
The Microsoft RDP Client on Android L works really well, especially with Windows 10.
You can actually use win+shift+left/right to switch desktops quite easily on the MS RDP client on Android.
On a Nexus 9 however the default resolution could make desktop items look too small.
My humble opinion is that Microsoft should update their RDP client on Android to
allow for a few different resolution settings
allow hiding of the top navigation toolbar
allow optimization preferences for slower networks
take back win+tab and alt+tab from Android selectively
I know they are dealing with some technical limitations/hurdles and possibly some political ones.
But that's how I see it.
i liked splashtop at the start, i purchased the premium paid versions of their phone/tablet versions. Then they started to change their tune and seek more money from me. I sinced moved to team viewer and have it on approximately 6 MS computers as well as 3 phones/tablets. It works a treat and have not had to pay a cent. Connection is rather smooth but does have its issues. I mostly use it to grab files off a device while away or for a quick debug, nothing graphic intensive anyway

I never moved from the free version. It works for me. I even avoid the $15. Slingbox app by going through Splashtop Remote. Good to know there are great alternatives, though.

Wow! I thought they were $30. when released (didn't have the slingbox then). The ipad one works great but haven't read very great reviews on the Slingbox on N7 Flo.
You scored one there! :good:
Teamviewer , it has free version. Ammy need license for VPC.
I like Chrome Remote Desktop since I have macs and pc's that I remote into. Once the N9 gets here I'll try the new windows remote desktop app (RD Client Beta). I tried it on my phone and it looked pretty nice. JUMP is also pretty nice.
As a Windows admin I use Jump Desktop. It supports Win8 & Srv2012R2 touch features plus it allows custom resolutions and the use of RemoteDesktop gateway. Very good program!
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ and I'm trying to replace my windows laptop with it.
Is there a good alternative to the Oracle SQL developer and IntelliJ on Android?
Thanks in advance.
I'm trying to do something similar, I don't have a replacement for Oracle SQL developer but for an IDE gitpod.io is brilliant. It's an online IDE built on Theia (basically the same as vscode). It spins up a full environment from a git repo and has build tools, db, etc. Here is an example Java + Spring project you can jump right into https://gitpod.io/#https://github.com/gitpod-io/spring-petclinic
I have a ThinkCentre Tiny that I use for Plex and as a media server. I have all my productivity apps loaded on it so I can RDP in to it when Android versions of apps won't cut it. Android Excel for example is maddening. MS RDP on Samsung's tablets is the next best thing to being there. .
I also set up a Remote Desktop connection to my Windows PC. With Wake on LAN I can start the PC from anywhere and then use RD Client on my tablet. That works perfect for some programs, where I don't have an Android version on the tablet.
