My S2 doesn't shows it in the setting - status.
It look like this...

Kind of funny as my Note still showing it as it also been upgraded to official ICS.
Does anyone experiences it? How can make it appear if it's possible?
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my Noble Black Note

If I remember correctly this could be because of using the older bootloader.
Are you using the ICS bootloader?

Thanks for the reply...
I couldn't answer you bout the bootloader. Actually i bought this 3 weeks old S2 secondhand.
How can i check if the phone was rooted before? I get it after he factory reset everything. Running official ICS guess...
The IMEI number same with the box and official receipt.
Thanks
Sent from my Noble Black Note

You can't if he wiped it.
As long as the serial number on the sticker on the chassis of the phone under the battery & the serial number on the box match & the IMEI matches up & is OK/you're not having any problems using the phone, not having the serial number show up in settings makes no difference to anything.

I9100G!! Just incase you want to tinker....Don't flash any bootloader etc that's not specifically for the "G" model.
Like MB says it's not a problem software wise. I can't even remember if I ever saw mine.

Just wondering.... As it only 3 week olds and long period of warranty, is it still valid for official warranty?
I did text the first owner but no reply from him on how did he update to ICS.
Thanks.

I think you should still have manufacturers warranty if the device is only 3 weeks old.

It's kind of weird that my buddy S2 also not showing serial nr. I check on S2 running GB 2.3.6, there's no serial nr column.
I GUESS ( my personal opinion) is that when GB upgraded to ICS for Malaysia firmware. It will only show 00000000000.
Maybe some forumer here can give their S2 status.
Since then, I think i've got my answers....

I got a brand new handset replacement from my network provider and also had the same issue. I'd love to know why this is and hope it's got nothing to do with the Windows/Kies connectivity issues I've been having.

As per the above it's a bootloader issue. If you run a recent bootloader (ICS & above), you'll see your serial number in settings.
No, it shouldn't have anything to do with any Windows/Kies connectivity issues.

[Q] v4.03 losing phone network connexion

I've got SGSII XEU Vodafone SIM but SIM free phone, updated via Kies, no mods at all (I'm a lurker, rather than a Do-er).
My phone worked a treat on 2.3.4 and I updated the official way. Since then I've had a problem with the phone losing the network periodically.
I've read up on SoD and did have a slight problem with wifi til I set it to 'never sleep' and that's been fine since, but the only way I can get the phone network connexion to revive, once down, is to restart the phone. (thank heavens they included a restart option on the power button *ahem*).
Is anyone else having this problem? I've searched here and couldn't find anything ICS related and I've sent a message to Samsung and heard nothing.
A googler friend mentioned that there was a radio issue which was to be sorted by v4.04 (not specific to my phone BTW), do I just need to be patient and wait for that release or is there something I can try in the meantime.
Apologies if this has been done to death, I found issues logged with gingerbread and rather more serious stuff (the aforementioned SoD), but not this.

One backup data and factory reset .
Fails then take to service centre .
or join XDA developers forum and flash stock Samsung firmware or a different modem or both .
jje
did u check imei no the pic u shows no signal/no sim symbol
When it's working, it does have an IMEI, but it drops off several times a day.
I guess I will just have to backup/restore and see if that helps.
I went the 'official' Kies route as I think it's important for regular consumers to test a company's official systems and I will get on to them again about this - all feedback is good, right?
jje, pardon my ignorance (and thanks for replying so fast!) but aside from the official Samsung FW I've used so far, what should I try next?
no do a factory reset first an if ur restoring titanium bck then stop, cause a bad bckup will carry on....

Has your problem been fixed? I'm facing a similar issue. You did say "When it's working, it does have an IMEI, but it drops off several times a day." As in when you have the signal loss, it does not show an IMEI number? (or 0?) And when it comes back you have the IMEI again?
I did a factory reset and it's gotten slightly better, I get signal drop offs but it usually comes straight back up again without a restart (probably my hand covering the aerial). As to the IMEI I haven't checked recently, will do next time I have to restart (which does still happen occasionally)

Why doesn't it work

Every time I try to use the code *#7465625# I get this error

Any idea as to why this happens? I I'm on stock firmware LFB just rooted
Sent from my GT-I9300
Just means it's not an S3 code like most on that list you probably read.
Are you sure, but this is the code to check your uock status
Sent from my GT-I9300
worked for me
I am not sure what this code does.
I checked this code, and got,
Personalizatiob Status - not sure if it has to be Personalization.
Network Lock
[OFF]
etc..
I am on Stock ROM.
This why I'm a bit concerned I'm just using a stock Rom just rooted and the code doesn't work any ideas. I my phone did come with a branded rkm from three UK but I flashed it with a unbranded stock Rom
Sent from my GT-I9300
First why that code ??? Samsung give it to you or is it the usual secret codes poster where the codes are plain wrong .
jje
EGAN is right.most of these "secret"codes are taking from gs2 forum and usually ppl just assume they work and in some regions they do,some they don't.
We need someone find the codes specific to gs3
this code is used to check network lock status etc it is working on most of the samsung phones.
it was working on GSIII on le8 stock(atleast on my phone), after updating to latest one its not working anymore.
the message you are getting is because u have pressed green button(call)
normally when u enter those codes all u have to do i put # and the result will be displayed.
This code is not working on GSIII with firmware higher than LE8.
Ok i managed to check on SGS3 firmware later than LE8 and it works .
But i repeat many of the secret codes posts are a total secret and don't actually work and the poster never tested them .

I can confirm that code *#7465625# doesn't work on my Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300, Android 4.1.2, Kernel 3.0.31). And I don't have other network micro SIM to check if it is locked or not.

Yes I do and 8 months is not 8 years, people still can find this thread. So it might save somebody's time to go straight to that thread explaining why:

[Q] Invalid MMI code????

Hi,
I tried the following codes on my phone:
*#06#
*#1111#
*#1234#
*#7465625#
and all I get is the message: "connection problem or invalid MMI code"
I do not think any codes works on my phone now....
Has anyone else come across this and can help?
This may have nothing to do with it but the Phone was unlocked using Voodoo sim unlock, and the original EFS files were backed up.
Arghh..!
I have now restored the original EFS files [with sim lock], and still no joy.
I am using a UK, Three, SGS3, SotMax V8.0 Rom and Yanks Kernal.
I have just read that newer FW are not compatible with voodoo sim unlock method.
Perhaps this might be related to the problem??
Anyone got any suggestions?
Anybody please?
Which rom are you using? If its anything Aosp based these codes will be likely not to work. If its stock or a Samsung custom rom then it usually should but not all the time. I use omega 33.2 and certain codes don't work. Try using *#0011#. That works on my rom so ...

Sounds like your Radio is the problem because the codes are not getting to the service provider...switch radios and your problem will go away with the right radio
Almost certainly the feature has been removed from the Rom, go to thread and ask

You need to use SEARCH suggest you look in the faqs and guides modem section .

I had this problem before. Updating to the latest modem (XXELLA) may help, but you may need to wipe data/cache and reflash your ROM as well. Reflashing is what worked for me.
XELLA is not the latest

This thread is 18mths old, fyi.
You don't have to replace that chip, you can either "reflow" it (if you know what you're doing), or put a small piece of credit card or something to put pressure on it.

[Q] S3 recover from IMEI and Modem issues - need help please!

Phone has been working a treat for sometime and I settled on the "StockMod Rom", see below:
What I didn't know was that the S3 has an issue where the it stops registering the SIM on the network. Note that it did show the correct IMEI number. The first time this happened I just turned it off/on a dozen times and reset the SIM. But the second time this didn't work. So I spend about 10 hours trying to fix it and I only made it worse. One of the options was to reload the modem files which I did from the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898
and that made things worse. Now I have no network at all, see screen shot:
Also I note that the above status is showing the phone as model SGH-T999, which is the T-Mobile version. So thats obviously a problem.
Can anyone guide me through how to recover my phone. This would be hugely appreciated as working with my old rooted and rom'd motorola MB860 is tiresome.
Many thanks Darrin.
