Install cmw

Sorry for the noobie question but i'm thinking about intalling a custom rom on tab 10.1 and keep reading here to do a full wipe and to install cmw before flashing. How exactly I do a full wipe in the tab? And what is cmw?
thanks!
Is your tab rooted first?
No, it's in stock 3.1. I'm starting to get the picture but a post in that threat got me confused: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20022691&postcount=2966
he says: "but you wont neet to root to flash my rom. my rom does that for you. just flash cmw, then my rom, done!" but i dont get it, from the cmw intalation guides I read they all say you have to root your device before flashing it. So, do I have to root it or not?

Any questions now?
+1 s15274n's post. That's the guide I used and it couldn't be easier! If you have a 7510 install Galaxy Task v7 by 'Task650' after CWM installation then one of b00sted's themes, that's as good as it gets.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001 - Root and Clockworkmod, which one first?

I am new to Android phones, I have Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001 and I wanted to know do I have to root the device before I can flash the CWM. Or maybe I have to get Clockworkmod and then root. I searched the forums but I didn't find any answers. I just don't know which should I get first.
To make it more simple: Do I have to be rooted to install ClockworkMod? Or can I install ClockworkMod first and then root?
I'm rooted now. Can I just install Clockworkmod right now or do I have to unroot my device first?

But its messy to install.
Here in this tutorial -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776095 from broodplank1337 you can read how to install CWM with Odin on Galaxy S Plus. There are many pictures, so it should be easy.
regards
after rooting you can flash cwm, dont worry its easy, just flash cwm 6 through odin and then you can flash any stock rom you want.
take backup after flashing cwm ,is must.
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda premium
i would suggest installing the latest CWM using Odin and then rooting and unrooting becomes really a matter of installing some .zip files.
pls help me

[Q] Reboot returns me to stock recovery

Hey there, I'm trying to root my S3 and a first step I wanted to make a nandroid backup, so i downloaded Odin and I used it to install recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.1.0-i9300 onto my device, i rebooted into the recovery screen and I found myself in the stock recovery menu.
So i tried it once more, to no change in my situation, so I looked through the forums for a while and I found a thread by mskip about installing CWM and thankfully it had this
Stock Recovery being reflashed after a reboot?
There is an auto recovery restore system on stock roms that will reflash the Stock Recovery on a Stock Rom. If the restore files are renamed then CWM Recovery should not be overwritten after a reboot.
You need to be rooted and then delete or rename the following files:
Quote:
/system/recovery-from-boot.p
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
You can then flash recovery without it being overwritten.
You can also do all this through the S3 ToolKit

My problem being that I can't rename said files bacause my phone isn't rooted and the S3 toolkit requires rooting to do backups and such, and I can't root it because (unless I misunderstood) I need CWM installed.
So my question is : What can I do now? Can I root my phone in any other way ? Is there a way to get past this Stock recovery screen onto CWM?
Already thanks for reading and sorry for it being this long
Also I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 I have Android 4.1.1 And I run Windows 7 on my PC
Ok, so I looked around a bit and I just rooted it without a backup, it seemed safe enough.
Root went well, I backed up right after just in case.
Use cf root and flash via Odin that will give you root and flash cwm. Then you can continue with your nandroid backup. All though you can do the full root procedure using that toolkit, its one of the options. Hope I could help

[Q] Easiest Method to Install CWM on SGP 4.0 US

Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 US and I want to install CWM so that I can do a nandroid backup. What is the easiest method to install CWM? Is ROM Manager safe to use on the SGPs? I have read other posts on XDA that say there are issues with using ROM Manager to install CWM on some models. If not ROM Manager, is there another suggested method other than replacing the kernel? I tried installing CWM.zip (downloaded from the XDA site) from the system recovery menu and got the dreaded "E:signature verification failed" message. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Why not replace the kernel? It is imho the quickest and easiest method.
I think you have to flash a custom kernel.
See Q7 in the following thread
Frequently Asked Questions - Samsung Galaxy Players
Nobody ever made a separate CWM package for the players to my knowledge. Certainly not supported officially with updates.
Ok. Looks like it's time for a custom kernel.
