I'm having problems with my Dodge Ram 2500 U connect, the truck connects just fine, no problems, but the sound for both send and receive makes it unusable, has anyone had any problems with this?
I have been to Sprint, they are thinking of changing the phone, I use this for business so have to be able to be in communication, hands free so I'm not distracted and a hazard!
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Start with the basics... Have you tried to unpair and pair the phone?
Tried all the basics
I have tried all the basics, unpaired it, deleted it from both the phone and the uconnect on the truck.
Just has bad connection, it pairs easily, I have had one successful call, but that was it!
Every call made to the device, or from it is messed up, it works perfectly with any other phone I have tried!
My EVOlte connection (2012 Jeep GC) is flawless. This is not much help to you other than the fact that it should not be a compatibility issue. Have you checked to see if there are any Uconnect updates?
If not you may need to exchange the phone. Good luck!

I drive a 2010 Dodge Charger RT Plus, and the uConnect system in there works perfectly on my phone. No issues with pairing or maintaining a call, only beef would be a 2-3 second lag between the call ending and the system announcing "phone call completed!", but it did that with my 3D too.
I will say, however, that I tend to get some annoying feedback in audio when I try to have the phone charging and playing music through an aux cord, which I think is due to the unibody design.
I have a 2012 Dodge Durango R/T with Uconnect and haven't had any issues. As a matter of fact the stock music player with the Beats audio sounds amazing. Sounds like it may be your phone.

Have you tried taking off your back cover on the Evo and putting it back on making sure all the antenna connectors are still intact and touching the plate?

I have a 2012 2500 and it works fine. No issues for me. Maybe the phone it sounds like, or maybe just try another at a sprint store to try?
Just chiming in, works flawlessly in my 2011 Charger, and music over blue tooth with Beats sounds great.

Seems it was defective
Thanks everyone for the input, I had it exchanged for another one today, I have made 5 calls on it since I paired the new one, it seems to working I tried it again the following day and it's not working at all now, well it connects OK but the interference is abysmal! I am going to have to change the phone for another one, I'm going to try the Samsung Galaxy S3 when it comes out.
My truck is a Dodge Ram 2500 Turbo Cummin's Diesel Laramie, 2007, no fancy connections, just a simple press to talk interface.
I'll confirm tomorrow if it was a defective phone, I hope it was, the phone is pretty good.
Dodge only lists devices from 2009 and above, they must seem to think that they didn't make bluetooth in 2007!
If anyone has any further input please let me know.
Thanks In Advance.

I was just wondering if anyone else is having issues with their car bluetooth and evo 3d? My old mytouch 4g (htc) worked flawlessly but the 3d will connect but drop constantly. It will sometimes connect sound but will drop it 2 min into the call. Other times ill be on a hour call and it will be solid. Sometimes it wont connect at all. I have a Chevy Cruze.I know its not the car other phones work fine. I talked to HTC and they basically said I was SOL. Anyone out there have anything? I love my Evo but this is a deal breaker for me. I am military and spend a lot of time on bases. You are not allowed to be on a handset on military bases and I hate ear pieces. The bluetooth was a big reason I got the car lol.
I have mine paired with my 2010 Silverado. I don't talk that long, but so far no issues. I do however have an issue with the usb port not recognizing the 3d. And yes I did try it set as hard drive.
Tonight I was pulling up songs for my daughter to sing at karaoke (they didn't have a good selection) and every time I approached the table with the amps and sound equipment, the 3vo freaked out. First it started backing out of YouTube. Then in the middle of YouTube it called the first number on my call log: wasn't even touching the phone. Then I tried music from the media player and it was skipping forward/playing fast. Finally I move the phone away from the equipment and set it to the side and it started behaving.
Seems like the 3vo needs better RF shielding. I was still getting a 3G signal yet the phone was losing it's mind anywhere near that audio equipment table. I've done the same thing with my Evo 4G with no problem.
Mike
Shouldn't really bring a phone near audio equipment anyway. Att phones make the equipment go crazy whenever the phone gets a text.
How close were you when it started though?

Interesting I am a sound engineer have not had that problem yet I work for a large church and been laying the 3d down on the Midas Desk we have not affected by that or the MediaMatrix NION, TC Electronics EQ Stations, numerious effects processors that are anywhere from 10 to 20 years old. Might be the way they shielded the audio equipment if you could let me know what type of equipment was in that area I might be able to tell ya what is happening a lot of the lower end equipment is not so good on the shielding.
I don't have a problem around my sound system and amps. Maybe the shielding issue is with the audio equipment.
I've noticed that my phone does the same things also. It does it when any head phones are plugged in then moved slightly. It does it every time too. Launches voice command then calls most recent number on my dail list. Quite annoying.

Sounds like it may be more of a problem with consumer grade equipment, than pro gear or low end pro gear. I will have to test that on a few other sound systems

Yes, YES! That's exactly what it was doing! I sat at the table in the restaurant and had everything queued up on YouTube (that's where all the karaoke song versions are). The song would be queued up and I made sure the whole thing loaded (bar got all the way to the right) so I knew it wouldn't stutter during the song. Then I'd take it up and as soon as I plugged the headphone thing in (which was connected to their amp of course) that's when the phone went crazy. Sometimes it'd back out of YouTube. Once it actually placed a call and I had to hit "end call". And once... it kept bringing up the voice command menu on top of YouTube. Did that over and over until I had to back out and let someone else sing until I could regroup.
So it seems the problem might be the headphone jack and some type of interference coming through that.
Mike
Every HTC phone I have owned has had issues with the headphone jack making the phone go crazy. You're definitely not the only one experiencing this. My 3D is completely useless using the headphone jack even if I leave the phone alone and don't do anything other than press play in the music app. It just skips around, opens different apps and calls people whenever it wants to.
I use headsets with my phone all the time, from cheapy ear buds to Bose noise canceling headsets and my phone works flawlessly. No weird behavior. You may want to exchange your phone before your 30 days are up because that is not normal.
Sounds like the machine your plugging into is sending current or interference back to your phone and messing it up.

Any headsets or earbuds work fine. The problem only happens when you hook the phone up via headphone jack to some amp: receiver, guitar amp, etc. I'll try the headset blocker app. Sounds like it might work... but in the year I owned my old Evo 4G I hooked it up to dozens of different amps. Never a problem.

Wow,
I thought i was going crazy, but my phone is displaying the exact same symptoms as you two. It's fine on normal headphones/earbuds, but when i hook it up to a tape adapter (work truck), it keeps launching voice command, mystically fast forwarding through songs, and redialing my last placed call - very annoying!!!

Installed it but I guess I have to give up and ask: which way is on? I put the widget on my home screen and it goes on there looking grayed out. If you click it, the icon (lettering) turns white and a green bar appears on the bottom of the widget. Click it again and it grays out. All the time it says "Block Headset".
WTF does that mean? Is it showing the current state... or is it telling you that if you press it, it will "become" that state? I'd rather know before I have to test it only to find out it's the opposite of what I thought. A simple checkbox on the widget with a check mark that appears/disappears would have been a lot better.

Thats because your amp equipment is either: A: Feeding back to the evo, and every other device you are connecting to it... (Aka, Enjoy broken stuff eventually when it sends a good jolt to it)
B: Your equipment does not support the control-talk interface that most modern cellphones have now days not only allowing for audio, But control signals to be passed to the device through a new third contact. (Example: Take any iPhone earbuds, Or other headphones with a mic in them, And examine them next to the plug for your amp, or just standard headphones without a mic... Two Contacts become Three...)
C: Both of the above, Amp lacks third contact, Feedback hits evo through the third contact in the phone which is now connected twice to the same contact on the plug.
Side Note, I have never had issues with low grade equipment and either my Evo 4G, My Evo 3D, My HTC Vogue, Mogul, or Apache because I have tested the plugs for feedback... Grounded Outlets are your friends, Also, Un-Overloaded ones help alot too... Also Sometimes, Crap wiring in a place is just going to f*** with equipment no matter what you do...
Only GSM phones have that issue... I've been an audio engineer for the last 8 years...

It's little different but,
My phone was plugged to the AC charger, and whenever I moved my USB cable it went absolutely crazy.
I re-plugged micro USB cable and it didn't happen again WTH?
Hey guys, I had the same issue yesterday when I hooked my phone up to my car's Aux port. It gave me problems for about 2 minutes going completely crazy. I than exited the music program and unhooked my phone.
I than hooked my phone back up, went back into the music program and havent had the problem happen again.
Wanted to report that my wife told me her 3vo went bananas when she hooked it to the Aux jack on our GMC Acadia's radio. Songs fast forwarding, making calls, etc. I confirmed it by trying it first (couldn't get even one song to play) and then I downloaded headset blocker from the market and turned it on. Not a problem since! So headset blocker seems to be the solution but the bottom line is that these 3vo's seem to be overly sensitive to getting random commands via the headset jack. And we've been using standard 3 prong cables. I still think it's a problem with the phone, but at least headset blocker is a workaround.

I enjoy listening to my podcast's all day long. However, my bluetooth disconnects without warning nor is it predictable. The bluetooth indicator is lit blue as if is connected. Also, in settings, there is no sign of it being disconnected. The only way to get my bluetooth to reconnect is to toggle my bluetooth off and then on again.
I tried to replicate the issue at the Best Buy where i bought the phone, but had no luck getting this to happen. Best Buy replaced the phone only to find out that i still have the same issue.
I typically use Dogcatcher for podcasts. Uninstalled it and started using Stitcher. Unfortunately still getting this issue. Even went as far as buying a different brand of stereo bluetooth headset.
Any one have any ideas?
Sorry, no idea. Try posting in the Motorola Owner's Forum and see if the Moto techs can shed some light on it.
Just for reference....I use a Blueant Q1 headset and Motorola S10HD headphones and no issues with disconnects, at least with music or audiobooks.
I was actually going to post something about this but haven't got around to it. Mine disconnects all the time, I have to shut off/on and then it will reconnect. It sucks. Also, when I put my phone in my pocket when I'm on my phone I get some very crappy sounds through my BT. I mean, its like 3 ft away max, through cloth, why would that matter? Is the BT radio on this phone really that bad? Anyone else having similar issues?
I remember this happening with my first phone but I thought it was my earpiece. I have upgraded my earpiece, still doing the same thing and has gotten worse lately. But the other thing is that I can walk pretty far away 30-40 feet before she disconnects, in my house around walls and such, so I don't get it.
-DJ
I'm having the same bluetooth sound issues as you DJ, except I don't hafta have the phone in my pocket. If I put the phone to my other ear I can hear the caller thru the headset & it stutters in the bluetooth.

I'll give Moto techs a try. Otherwise, its too difficult to replicate the problem at the Sprint Store. All they do is wipe the phone and hand it back to me which is not acceptable. Especially when i explain to them that i have tried this with no improvement.
Thanks guys for your input.
This used to happen with my EVO as well so I wasn't shocked when it happens with the photon from time to time. What happens is that the media connection gets lost while the headset is still connected to the phone audio. I use a Jawbone ICON and ERA and it happens with both. I listen through my headsets all day every day so I'm pretty used to it. Usually if I un-pair and re-pair the headset it solves it for a while. Just make sure the headset says its connected to both phone and media audio.Hopefully it will be corrected through an update soon. I'm sure they have a long list of stuff to repair...
I have the same BT audio disconnects as others while I was listening to stream music, very frustrasting, I had the phone swapped due to other issue, but this still happened very randomly. Infact, as the other poster said above, BT audio disconnects also happened to my previous HTC phones(Diamond, EVO 4G & EVO 3D)as well.
im having same issue with blue parrot headset
glad to know I aint the only one with this problem, hopefully a fix is in the works
I have a Plantronics Voyager Pro+ and my Photon practically refuses to play my visual voicemails through it. When I attempt to play a voicemail, the scrub bar runs through it in like 1 second even though the voicemail may be 2 minutes long and no sound is heard through the BT. If I then disconnect and reconnect the BT, the message(s) will play properly for a short time. So most times, I either disconnect BT to play my messages through the speakerphone or earpiece or I dial into my voicemail with my BT. Overall, it is a frustrating situation. However, I guess things could be worse.
I have a similar issue with Bluetooth for HID devices (mouse / keyboard). I have the webtop hdmi hack in place. I haven't tested this with the latest ota yet.

Looks like I have same issue,if I am in my car and talking over car bluetooth build-in system it will disconnect after some time, need to toggle bluetooth button on phone screen to send it back. I never had this problem with Epic4g before. I am in battery safe mode is it possible that after awile phone think that it can shutdown bluetooth. I am rooted but using battery mode without ant 3rd party app. Also can someone post link to related Motorola tech forum described above gor Photon 4G?

I have just recently gotten a rezound about 3 weeks ago and I have noticed issues with my bluetooth. Not all, but most people I talk to on the other end say my voice is muffled and has lots of static. I can't figure out how to remove it. I've attempted turning everything off (wifi, gps,4g) and the static is still there. I've read about some people having issues on vzw site and HTCs site but haven't seen it mentioned anywhere here. I'm am running the latest ICS leak, which has nothing to do with it because the phone did it before I updated the firmware. This is all on a Plantronics M100 that worked flawlessly with my Dinc. If I can't resolve this I may have to return this phone for something else because I HAVE to have a working bluetooth. If anyone has a bluetooth that works great let me know and ill try it to see if I can get one that works. Who knows maybe this bluetooth doesn't like this phone. Anyways, thanks in advance...

I know what you are talking about. I use a samsung hm3500 for videos and audio because it supports A2DP. But it is also just a Bluetooth headset. Probably the coolest one I have found. Great for watching videos without headphones.
(Sorry that was me babbling)
Anyway, yes I have the same issue with the HM3500. People tell me my voice sounds muffled, but when I switch to the phone mic, it sounds much better. I assume it is just a low quality headset? I only paid #10 for it.
I use a jawbone era. It works the same on this phone as it does on my dinc and my charge.
I mean.. I MIGHT be the phone. Call and get a replacement, if its still a problem then get something else I guess.
The best thing to do to check it, is to call yourself and leave yourself a voicemail. Talk with the headset, turn it off and talk with out it. Go back and forth s few Times.
Repeat with the dinc.. compare the quality yourself. It has been my experience that other people are bad at accurately describing problems.

Quick troubleshooting
I have had occasional problems too on my phone, but the wife's does not.
Check how you hold the phone. There is a mic hole on the bottom edge you do not want to cover with a finger, I did. Take off the back cover and check that the mic hole is open, not clogged.
Does the audio input accessed by the keyboard (for voice recognition text input) hear you and work well? If that does not, the phone isn't picking up your voice. You could also try making a voice recording and playing it back to check the quality.
Try a bluetooth headset or car radio handsfree. If those work fine then the problem is likely with the phone/mic. That will involve a replacement.
Ill try the voicemail thing. The problem is with my bluetooth not the phone mic itself. When I switch to that people say I sound much better. I have tried several different ways of holding it with all the same result. I made several phone calls last night and some were land lines. My wife said one time I sounded staticky and the rest of the time it was better. Other calls I made the other people said static as well. I don't know what would cause it to be intermittent like this.

Bluetooth
I would try a different bluetooth set. I use mine with a bluetooth motor cycle helmet head set and it works just fine. Also with a Motorola stereo set sounds good to.
Ok really starting to get pissed at this Rezound. Got another headset to try and....same results. Callers on the other end say I sound extremely loud like my mouth is right on the bluetooth and the audio is very muddled. Why is this all the sudden a problem??? My other bluetooth worked great with my original incredible. If I can get this resolved I'm ditching this phone and getting something else because I NEED bluetooth. Someone please tell me a headset that works for theirs and I will try that one!

Hi I am hoping one of you can help or offer some advice. My EVO lte will not keep a pairing with my Parrot CK3100 car kit. It paired one time but will not pair again until I delete it and start over. I am in my car all day long and have never had this issue with previous phonesl Any thoughts? thanks in advance
I am having a similar problem with mine connecting to my car. It will connect and it will show it is connected but it won't route calls through the bluetooth until about a minute into the call. It also seems it will pop the connection in and out.
With my old evo it would connect almost immediately in the can and the bluetooth would ring before I even heard my phone ring.
For what it's worth:
I had problems maintaining a connection with my car (BMW 335i). It paired fine, just wouldn't keep a steady connection. I ended up deleting the pairing on both the car and the phone, re-paired but did not allow the car to share the contact list, as it asked to do during the pairing process.
The connection has been solid, however I'm at this point unable to send the contact list to the car.
I reported it to HTC CS, they are aware of it, and seemed to indicate they are going to have an update available at some point. I understand the One X variant also has some Bluetooth issues.
Something may definitely be up with this. I can't get my Evo to pair with anything! My desktop, laptop, tablet, Jaybird headphones or the Ford Sync in my Taurus. My EVO 3D & E4GT paired with no problems. I'm just glad to see that its not just my phone with the problem.

Same thing here. I have it connect to the bluetooth in my 12 Chevy Cruze (Just for my phone calls)and then to a bluetooth reciever i purchased to play my music.
When i connect the two of them my phone connection keeps dropping and then reconnects, causing my music to hiccup while disconnecting.
so right now i deleted my phone connection so i can play my music hiccup free.
When i had my HTC EVO 3D i had no problems connecting the both of them?
HTC please fix...............

Thanks, I was aware BMW had the capability, however "This offer is available for selected vehicles manufactured after March 2010." and mine is a 2009 model.
Missed it by that much
As much as it makes perfectly good sense to me to purchase a new automobile so my cell phone will work with it, I'm not sure that line of thinking will find much acceptance with the Department of Finance and War (aka, my lovely wife)
Appreciate your interest in helping with my Bluetooth issue, though...
I'm unable to hold a conversation for longer than 30 seconds when making and receiving calls in my 06 325i. Sometimes there's a loud high pitched sound that goes off and the call connection still seems to be live, but I can no longer hear the other person, which forces me to hang up. At other times, the call quality is choppy, like I'm traveling through a tunnel every 2 seconds, and eventually the other party on the line, or myself, hangs up. I've never had this problem with any other phones (Palm Treo 755p, EVO 4G and EVO 3D).
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I think it might be specific to the BMW car model and year. Thanks

Confirmed! Turning off WiFi "fixes" the problem. This "phone" has a below average antenna, slow 3g speeds, and conflicting bluetooth/WiFi signals (all confirmed by numerous users). Sprint and HTC really need to come up with a solution to all these problems.
Here's a fun one: Just picked up my Evo LTE today.
I tried connecting it to my car stereo tonight.
The stereo sees the phone and pairs with it. Right after they pair i get "com.android.phone as stopped unexpectedly." on the phone and then bluetooth disconnects and my cell connection disconnect for a few seconds.
The stereo is a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X995
Since i've owned the stereo i have connected my OG Evo, an Evo Shift, Nexus S 4G and a Photon 4G all without any issues.
I'm gonna play with it a little more and see if i can get it to pair. So far it's the only issue i've come across.
Edit: My phone is stock / rooted
Edit 2: Was just out experimenting. The phone seems to crash when it syncs the contacts list to the stereo. If I hit "cancel" on the phone when it asks to sync it pairs just fine and the phone doesn't crash.
Also made a 7 minute phone call and it didn't disconnect on me.
My wife's EVO LTE would consistently disconnect from her Rav4's Bluetooth after a minute or two.
This is a deal-breaker. I tried to take the phone back a day after purchasing and the Sprint store mgr wouldn't waive the restocking fee. I explained systemic issue and merchantability laws but no dice.
Sorry for the mini rant but Sprint sucks.
