Create a script with Script Manager (from the market) and run it at boot (or you could put it in system/etc/init.d/ if your ROM supports it).
This is the script:
cd /mnt/sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails
rm *.*
rm .*
This should clean up your thumbnails folder on every boot
What is the format of script file (script file.***)
Can I put the script file with root explorer?

1GB? You have a million photo's on your sd card?
Well, I have more have 1,000+ photo and all
BTW, I Moved All my Photos on MY PC and deleted from my NEO and problem solved
delete SD Card DCIM\.thumbnails folder and use quick pic instead of xperia **** gallery...
Stopping Thumbnails
Actually there's an easier method to solve your problem without having to delete photos, if youre on linux, just right click, create a new file and rename it to ".thumbnails". Then delete the thumbnails folder on your android, and copy this file there, the result is that a folder cannot have the same name as a file, thus your thumbnails cache wont be generated. For windows users, youll have to download notepad++ application, and click on new file, dont type anything, click on save> change file type to "all types" and enter file name as ".thumbnails", Problm solved!!
SOLVED

I don't know why or how but all my ringtones/music files don't show up in media library or sound picker anymore.
This was after re formatting my SD card in order to create an EXT and a swap partition.
Since then I deleted all partitions and re formatted my card just the way it was originally.I also tried clearing data of Music app and Media storage app.I also rebooted countless times and my last resort was re flashing kernel and Rom.
Still nothing to my surprise (!).
What's going on?
Please help me cos I think I be tried everything...

Brov try move tha MP3 files to Media/audio.. if there is no such folder, create & move dem there den reboot!!! Lets see if it will work.
I think something is seriously f*cked up big time software wise. The phone can't play its own ogg files such as alarm sounds. Also it reports no audio files at in internal memory (!).
All these even after Factory Reset in phone and CWM,restoring a perfectly working ROM and even flashing again MESA kernel 1.4.
Nothing seems to fix the problem.
What's next? I m at a loss here.

Try flash GB .62 & lets see buddy........
Can you see your mp3 files with an app like ES Files?
If you can, can you launch your files with this app? Have you tried another app to launch mp3?
For the ogg, when you said "Can't read his own ogg" you mean when you choose the ringtone or smthing like that you have an error message?
Your sdcard has to be in FAT format, else it won't work.

- Are you really sure you need all those mods?
- You can always move apps to sd card, even if they are system apps - just convert them to user apps and move them.
- Integrate updates into system apps, and them move them to user (like gmail, maps, youtube...)
- Delete things like live wallpapers, xperia wallpapers, any app thats basicly just pictures, use the smallest size defaulttheme apk you can find: run file explorer, go to system/app, sort by size and start deleting things from the top (that arent really necesarry)
- save all images you got trough mms, and delete messages. They take up a lot of space (mine took up 14MB) Use SMS backup or something, save them and delete them in the phone, also clear dial history
Other than that, what the hell did you isntall that takes up so much space? Are you REALLY sure you need all those things?
Oh yeah, that 1gig you 'dedicated to internal memory', thats only really useful for android <2.1, which didn't support native app2sd. Link2sd allows you to move any app to sd card with native app2sd. And you can only store apps trough link2sd on that second partition, system doesnt see it as system (unless you remounted system as /system + /sd-ext but thats only my theory, I have no idea how that would be possible.

No it look like that, and every time i try to copy or open it say error.
Looks like corruption to me. Download h2testw.exe (Google it) to Test the card. It needs a reader (or mass storage mode).
Set it to test the full capacity (it will take an hour+ maybe) but worth doing

Hi everyone.
I've a Nexus 5 which runs Android 6.0.1 but I think the problem is not especially related to the Nexus 5, so I post here.
What happened ? Few days ago my phone crashed (I didn't use it) and was slow to boot up. So I tried to force the reboot by pressing the power button for 15/20s and it worked.
But 5/10min after I saw the "Select language" menu ... The phone performed a factory/reset by itself. I don't know why.
First, I plug my phone to my computer and I've seen that 26GB/32GB were already in use.
So I tried to recover my pictures and videos with many apps and the one which worked was "Undeleter" (5$) but it didn't recover all my data.
Yesterday, I wanted to understand what happened really. I ran "DiskUsage" which give me this result for /storage/emulated/0 :

How can I access to the "System data" partition which has a size similar to the storage space used before the crash ?
Regards,
Laurent
EDIT :
Finally I backed up all my data !
Indeed, files of my memory (/sdcard) before the crash was in /data/lost+found/#1351681/0
Then, I was able to move them to /sdcard and to copy the files on my PC.
How to ?
Make sure your phone is rooted and install a file explorer such as Root Browser.
Open Root Browser and navigate until /data/lost+found/#xxxxx [in my case, with a Nexus 5 it was 1351681/0]
(Look for the directory which corresponds to your previous "sdcard".)
Now, you can see the files but you can't open them. So move (not copy!) them to /sdcard (I suggest you to do that folder by folder).
Great, you've recovered your files ! But now, transfer them to your computer to prevent damages (I was forced to do that and remove files after to continue because the storage was full).
You can do it in connecting your phone to your computer and via the explorer or you can use adb (adb pull /sdcard/directory_to_move path_to_a_dir_of_your_computer)
I hope it will be useful.
Laurent

The term System data is absolutely errleading: Downloads never go to Android's /system partition but always to Android's /data partition.
So you just need to look for files in /data that take up the huge amount of space - if any.
The real way to check Android's storage is to go to Settings -> Storage
Example:
Thank you for your answer but I have found the solution to this problem. You see there is something called File Guardian which is a part of Galaxy Labs on Samsung phones. Now the thing is I know exactly where all my files are stored on my phone since I like to keep it tidy ? but since I moved all the downloaded movies to external HD these files were nowhere to be found. Going into storage analyser was showing 283gb in "other storage". This app File Guardian serves as a possibility to restore moved/deleted files but even when I went to search for apps which might be taking much space as I thought there could be some temp/cache data left over from the transfer I could find nothing. Then I remembered to check this File Guardian and there was 512 files there. As I said you cannot find these anywhere except in this app. I deleted it from there permanently and voila the memory is OK now. What's really strange is that I looked all over internet and couldn't find solution to this problem, I was already getting afraid I would have to factory reset my phone. It might be really useful for some people to know about this though.
