[Q] MMI problem? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I recently updated my sister's S2 (Virgin Mobile) to ICS using Samsung Kies recently and she notices and showed me this odd problem. It is showing a MMI error if she uses a speed dial and it did not do this prior to the update which had Gingerbread initially.
For instance, if she presses 2 on dial pad, then dial, it gives the error. If she holds 2 on the dial pad, it speeds dial normally.
Is there something which needs to be adjusted to remedy this?
Thanks

Try this
Try removing the speed dial then try to re-add them. I had a friend with this problem and this solved it. I would recommend trying it with one first, though, if it doesn't work for you than that's alot of work for nothing!

[Q] Unable to send text message...retrying

Can someone please help me with my long going problem?
Intermittently, when replying to a text message (either in stock messaging or handcent, etc) the phone does not send the text message, and refuses to send for up to a minute after retrying, then the message will eventually send.
This has been happening for MONTHS, and I have had my HTC hero replaced through orange several times regarding the issue, as they had identified it as a handset fault. I then got a replacement SIM from orange aswell to try and rectify the issue, but shortly after registering my new SIM, the issue still occurs.
It seems someone in this thread has the same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=665932
I tried the "fix", ie. making sure all numbers were in international number format (+44...) but this made no difference.
As I said, this issue is intermittent and RANDOM, but happens around 3 times a day. It is very frustrating especially when trying to reply to a text urgently.
Is anyone else having the same issue?
Before anyone asks, yes my message centre number is correct (+447973100973).
It only seems to be when replying to a text message, well that is when i notice it anyway.
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks
I started to get this when I rooted to VR12, it did it alot the first couple of days then didn't do it much. I've now unrooted to orange 2.1, its done it twice in a week. It didn't do it at all on 1.5, maybe a coincidence. Location doesn't matter either.
I noticed this issue. I updated to 2.1 and found im having the same problem. Its intermittent so i cant tell what is forcing it to "retry". Only noticed this since going from 1.5 ---> 2.1.
I installed Darkstone's Froyo Sense v1 and just today gave me the error. Friend of mine actually mentioned it earlier today. We tested it a few times. When I sent him an mms, I got the error, but he still got it. The little envelope icon remained on my message. Tried it again with another friend and same thing, but after 2min the message was sent.
I had the same problem.
I fixed it by entering the service number in the service-menu of the radio. DIAL *#*#4636#*#* and you will see the menu comming up. Take the upper option. Scroll down and update your servicenumber there. While you are there check if the prefferd network is " gsm auto prl" instead of "wcdma". It can save some power.
Goodluck.

Hi mcall_r
just wondering if any of these suggestions fixed your problem as I'm having the same issue. mach2005 where do you get the service number from to enter?
Me too!
Hi,
I've been having this issue too. Along with all the other bugs introduced with 2.1 it's been driving me nuts.
The issue seems to occur intermittently and with a variety of numbers. Normally I get the notification sound, a text icon with an exclamation mark in the notification bar and the text 'unable to send text message'. After a while it normally resolves itself and the message is sent however with one number, my mum's, the problem always persists.
Initially I tried checking the message centre number, ultimately I tried a master reset, without any joy. Then I got a new SIM from Orange, which still hasn't resolved the issue. I can pop the SIM into another phone and send messages to her number so it's definitely the phone.
Just today I noticed that I had an unread text from 'Anon' deep in my message thread, which apparently had come from nowhere (I have observed this before). After deleting the thread I was again able to text my mum, is this just a coincidence? Seriously pissed off with this issue but hoping it is now finally resolved. The messaging in Android/Sense seems fubar, I've also had issues with it resolving to the wrong contact when selecting 'Send message' from another contact. Anyone had these same issues in combination with the 'cannot send text message' error?

[Q] Can't dial or send text message

Hello.
I think I soon have search the entire internet for my problem. Well I found someone with the same problem, but no answers.
My problem is that I have a friends X10i that I shall try to fix, but the strange thing is that it can't make a dial or send a text message.
I can get the phone to go on the internet with 3G.
We have tried to use 3 different simcards, all from a different brand.
I thought the problem maybe was the old 1.6 android, and I have updated to the 2.1, after that it send 2 text message, but could'nt dial. After turning the phone off there was no network again.
I have flashed to Cyanogenmod 7, it works fine, but still It can't make a dial or send a text.
Anyone that have a answer to my problem?
Just want to bring this up again, anyone with a solution?
Have you done a master reset? I had a problem where the phone would not receive any txt messages, and after a master reset it worked ever since.

[Q] Stock/Official 4.0.4 Update broke my *#2263# function

Hi all, I'm an Australian user of an unlocked/unbranded i9100. I use the stock ROM, and received the 4.0.4 update a few days ago.
Since the update, whenever I type *#2263# into the dialer, and try to run the code by pressing the call button (previously, it would run as soon as I hit the last #, I didn't need to press call), the phone appears as if it's about to start running the code, but I get the following message instead:
'Connection problem or invalid MMI code'.
Now, presumably this has something to do with changes they made in regards to the 'security flaw' that was uncovered last week, though interestingly, *#0011# still works fine (doesn't help me though, that just gives me info, it doesn't let me change what band I'm on).
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get control of my phone back? (Preferably without rooting/using a custom ROM)?
Thanks.
Same for me and more

I can manually get to where I need to by going through *#0011#, and navigating back through the menu, but the proper shortcut would be nice...
I guess the current method will work in the meantime.

[Q] No keypad tones during call - i9300 Samsung Galaxy S3

Hi all,
I´ve just changed networks on my UK international i9300 Samsung Galaxy S3 so I can use a H20 wireless (AT&T network) SIM.
I tried a few different modems via the GetRIL app, but couldn´t get any to match. I then used GalaxSim Unlock to unlock the phone. The IMEI was temporarily removed but I restored the original modem via GetRIL and it appeared to be unlocked still.
I can now dial with the phone but the only difference is the keypad tones fail to work during the call. When dialling, the numbers come up on screen correctly and make the normal keypad tones. The problem is during the call when an automated line will ask for numbers to be input. They will come onscreen but make no noise, so the other end considers I´ve not entered anything.
There are no settings available to alter, I´ve tried a reboot etc. but nothing has helped. Í´ve had a look on Google but I can´t see anyone else who´s had this problem. Any ideas?
P.S. It is possible the RIL/modem works for texts, calls but isn´t quite the right one to produce DTMF dial tones?
