firmware update for I9100UHKE2

hello guys
i am new to android OS...that means a n00b... but i have successfully root my phone with this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
currently Kies gives me this info:
Current firmware version: PDA:KE2 / PHONE:KE2 / CSC:KD1 (VNO)
Baseband ver: I9100UHKE2
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE2-CL187606 [email protected] #2
Android ver: 2.3.3
Build number: GINGERBREAD.UHKE2
what i would like to do now is to update to the latest firmware is that possible?
thanks
Hi,
If Kies shows no update, you'll have to go the route of manually updating via Odin.
This guide shows you how, don't make the mistake I did of downloading the kernel only tar file - you need the big file around 250/260 MB.

Hi,
but this file has the latest firmware in it? because from the info:
UHKE2
Firmware info
PDA:UHKE2
PHONE:UHKE2
Build date: 11/05/2011
Generic CHO (Chile): http://www.multiupload.com/J3L6OOPXC7
UHKE2 Stock Kernel:http://www.multiupload.com/18GRITPN4M
Password: [email protected]
the build date is 11/05/2011 is almost same as the 1 current i am using...?
Then their is no later firmware on XDA you will either have to source it yourself or use Checkfus .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834884
You could even look at the Chile thread right under this thread .

Hi DM-Man,
As far as I know there is no official update for any Chilean device.
The only way to enjoy other versions is as already said to "manually" change via odin.
The "Chile thread" can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104410
Best regards.

You can always update through Odin and get the latest software from e.g. Intratech's ROM thread. Carriers usually do not update that frequently and you may be stuck a long time to a version.
If you want to use the Chilean CSC then you have either the old seldom updateable official ROM option or you have an always manually updateable "Frankenstein" ROM option.

different baseband

Hello guys i am new to this forum and i have question.
I have some problems with my S3, now i want to return it.
My phone was rooted now its stock (download mode is normaal and system status too.)
The only problem i have is that the baseband version is different!
Does this matter for my warranty??
If this does how can i see my of baseband version because i don't remember it.
My phone is unbranded and i live in the netherlands.
One last question i already updated my phone with Kies does Kies change baseband too?
thanks!

baseband and build versions are ok. No need to worry about it. And yes kies can change baseband if there was a modem update included in firmware update

*#1234# does not work ?!
Ok, usually the PDA is the same as the Build version/number => DXLP9.
Maybe you have to reflash the kernel or the whole ROM to get the *#1234# work again on your phone.
Dial codes will only work only stock Samsung ROM's. With it being “build 4.2," I'll assume it isn't a stock Samsung ROM. Flash one if you wish to use these dial codes.

This is not accurate, sorry. PDA version is the build number of a stock Samsung firmware. Not baseband. Baseband is the same as phone/modem.

You're running Slim ICS; which is NOT a Samsung stock firmware. So technically, you don't actually have a PDA version.
Anyone else this this looks unusual?

Not really. Looks like a Gingerbread modem was flashed to an ICS firmware. That is only unusual in that it would never come like that packaged from Samsung. But it still should work just fine. Modems are cross compatible between Gingerbread and ICS.

Okay... got it.. also Jkay works with stock roms or custom roms which have support for it and i dont think that slim ics support it as of yet.
Thanks.

I have been apprised that there is an update for my Note, but I don't know if I could download it instead of doing it OTA...I have Cyangemod installed, and the update won't work...I've looked on sammobile.com, and didn't see it...and thanks for the advice, but I think I have a handle on this stuff...
