Hello everyone,
Is there any way to see the popup before unlocking but without the screen going on? In other words, I do not want the lockscreen to be on after I send my SMS reply. Just a black screen. I have tried Go SMS and Handscent.
Thanks

What? You mean like the notifications going on the lock screen without lighting up the screen?

What I mean is, after my popup comes up and I send my reply, the lockscreen is there. Is there a way not to light up the lockscreen?
I believe chomp sms has something close to this with some configuration.

I use the stock sms with an app called SMS Popup. It works awesome. It's very customizable. Give it a shot, I think you'll like it.

But the thing with SMS popup is that it gives you multiple popups of the same message
If anyone is still looking for a reliable popup app...try Glowfly. I know its a weird name but trust me its a good app. So far...no multiple popups and better than SMS popup
Anyway to make my phone not wake up when I receive a text? I can't find it in the settings or anything. Im also on Jelly Beans.

this was the same way on the s3, as well as the note, not sure about other samsung devices. but the answer is no. they made it like an iphone, it will wake up no matter what unless you custom rom it with CM or something pure google like.
Ah, really? Well that sucks lol. Oh well, it's not a guge deal or anything.

There has to be a setting somewhere in the code that wakes the screen up for these texts. Has to be. It doesn't just do it because it does it.
Someone will find it, and make it bend to their will. Just give it time.

I decompiled it earlier to look at.
There is no bools.xml so its going to be in a method.
I'll know more once I locate it.
The method that ive been using is this:
Disable sms notification on the native app
Install sms popup
Uncheck the popup when recieved option on sms popup
Configure the rest of the settings
(500ms for light, 5000ms for off time)
???
Profit.

The solution I found that worked for me was to disable all the notifications in the stock messaging app and have light flow control the sound and led notification. I've had light flow on my other Samsung phones and it's proved to be a great investment. Now whenever I get a text i get my sound and my led lights up red and stays on. much better on battery.

A big reason I want it to not pop up, cause I feel that's why my light flow isn't working cause I have it set so screen on makes the notification go away. I don't always want to have to open the app, but want the light gone.

I too use this method of preventing screen flash on text. A little bit of screen time adds up when you are trying to milk your battery for all its got. Not much a huge deal on this phone though

I just simple replaced the secmms.apk all rebooted and when I get a text my screen doesn't turn on and I still get the notification light
Has anyone else noticed the Gmail notification stays in the bar after archiving from the drop down menu or is it just me?
On mine it stays for 30 sec or so then goes away.

Ditto. On mine it stays as long as the "Undo" option is in the notification pane after archiving. It's only about 5-10 seconds for me.

My Gmail force closes any time i try to click the "breadcrumb" back out of a message and go back to the inbox. If I click the back button, all is well, but if I click the icon in the top left, force close. Is this a known issue?

First question is... How can I get rid of the "Power saver off" in the notification bar? Super annoying, I haven't seen it in any of the options although I'm sure it's got to be there somewhere.
2nd question...and this is more of a general all across Android but maybe someone has an answer...why do I always have problems sending picture messages when I have good signal? I try canceling them and resending, restarting the phone, nothing. It just sits there trying to send. I've had this problem on every android phone I've had (ironically nothing but HTC since the G1). Sometimes it works fine, other times it doesn't work at all.
3rd question, I've had a custom rom on my HTC Sensation for a while w/ Android 4.2.2 Is the ability to have the power widgets in the notification bar only on 4.2? I know you can add it w/ apps but I liked it built in. Will that be my only option till we get 4.2 or am I missing that somewhere also?
Thanks for any help!

As far as I know, you can only get this with a custom ROM. I am using TrickDroid on my T-Mobile One and it's fantastic. It includes the power toggles.

Sweet. I never knew about this. It doesn't work for the Power Saver notification, but I was finally able to get rid of that darn WiFi notification! Will disabling the notification have any effect on the operation of the feature? I know I always get warnings from apps about it being more "active" with the notification turned on.
Like the other guy said, the option to disable it is grayed out. Sucks.
I do have one more question, maybe for another thread, but when someone sends a pic message, I'm not getting the full resolution, it's much worse. And the issue is not the persons phone sending it but my phone receiving it. My friend and I were both sent a pic and his phone received it on full resolution and mine was much lower. The sender was from an AT&T iPhone and my buddy that got the pic is on a Verizon android phone and I'm on the TMobile one. Is this a tmobile thing maybe?
If you're rooted, you can use the JMZ Power Saver Disabler app to get rid of the notification.

Does anyone know if the One has the option to see a preview of an email message in the notification pull down menu? I just bought this phone today and have not been able to find this setting? I thought it was a standard Jelly Bean option, but I could be mistaken.
Any thoughts?

I think you could just the 4.2.2 gmail apk and should work
Do you mean like this? I just sent myself a message. and that's how it looks in my notification bar. I do know that if it's a single line like WiFi TetherMod is, you drag it down using 2 fingers. So You'd drag WiFi Tether Mod down using 2 fingers and it would expand. (If the notification is capable)
EDIT: BTW, I'm using the stock Gmail app that comes out the market.

Does it look like this normally? If so, try dragging it with 2 fingers. I'm on Renovate. I don't think a ROM can add this feature. This feature is a JellyBean feature. I've had this feature on my Epic 4G Touch (GS2), as well.
The notification itself, if you drag it down with 2 fingers, it should expand. And you'd have more options and viewability. Like in my previous post.
I've also upload 2 more screenshots showing you a before and after of Google Music. It's a single bar, but if you drag it with 2 fingers it expands.
EDIT: Also it is not an option your turn on and off. By dragging, I mean the actual notification itself.

As you say, it might be in the next version. Getting this stuff early is a big reason folks root and use a custom Rom. I usually do, but just haven't felt the need with the One. It is meeting my needs right out of the box.

Any link for that? I'm not sure it would work over a stock rom, non rooted, but it is worth a try...
I'm interested. Do you have expandable notifications? I mean can you expand other notifications? I've always thought this was just a JellyBean feature and not something that could be taken out and added, or something of the sort.
I discovered that I won't get notifications unless auto sync is turned on. However, even with that on, I can't preview the notification.
I turned it back off because it also lights off the LED, which uses battery, and there is no way to turn that off separately.
I'd really rather save the battery than have constant notification of gmail messages.
The reason its not working for most of you is the battery saver notification. It is listed as a high priority/ongoing notification and essentially kills the auto expand. Expandable notifications have been in Android since 4.1 not 4.2

I'm still bone stock, no root, no mods, and I can expand my notifications (if they're expandable.) I have the notification for Power Saver, and this works whether it's toggled on or off.
You have to press and drag with TWO FINGERS to expand them. Not just one.

Sorry, you didn't say anything about "top notification" for "auto expand," what you said (or how it read) was that having the power saver notification in the notifications area was what was stopping folks from being able to expand notifications (with a two-finger swipe wasn't said, but seemed to be implied.) And I didn't think we were talking about "auto expand," but about being able to make them expand if they could...
I just did it on my stock ROM using the two finger method on the notification. I still have my Power saver notification showing also. I wish it would allow me to delete instead of archive.
