Hello,
i recently made a Y cable from spare usb cables (solder them) and i connect power to one end of the Y and my keyboard to the other. well it works great, but the moment i switch out the keyboard to a HUB to get both keyboard and mouse i loose all functionality. I can only use the Y cable with 1 device that isnt the HUB any ideas why?
For the Y cable i split all the usb cables and solder them together. 3 Red, 3 black, 3 green, and 3 white.
i dont think my Y cable is the issue, but let me know if it is.
y-cable male to otg/y-cable male to usb hub & then plug the usb cable from the powered hub into the female end of your y-cable then try your hub again.
this is the OTG i purchased
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/micro-...er-cable-for-samsung-i9220-i9250-black-117597
but for some reason, it only works without the powered USB Hub. could this be a problem of a bad HUB?
How its connected and works

How I connect HUB and doesnt work
you need a powered hub that also has a micro to usb connection, this is the end you plug into the female y-cable to fully power your hub. (to hook up more than 1 usb device)
google , "REVTV - Home".... and scroll down and go to page 3 for video

added pic to last post,
the usb cable from the hub is what you plug into the y-cable to fully power all the usb ports on the hub.
.......you need a different hub.........
I appreciate your help. In the picture i posted it is not clear, but The Hub usb is indeed going to the Y-cable, i guess my hub isnt working correctly. I just bought it 2 days ago, and already threw out receipt and box.
thanks for the help!
im going to go buy another hub
you also need to plug the usb cable from the hub to the female end of the y-cable....
the hub is actually hooked up twice, male end of the y-cable into the hub and the usb cable from the hub to the female end of the y-cable...
check out the pic...all 3 usb ports in the pic are powered now.

Is there a cable for the prime for USB host? I want a USB port but so far I can only find cables for the Galaxy tab or for micro USB ports. I don't want the keyboard dock, I have my laptop for computing. I just want a cable for it. So far I can only find the Asus dongle for the TF101(compatible right? Same proprietary port?), but that's only for an SD card, not a USB-female port.
Do you mean this? If you need to hook up a usb device to the prime, you need a dongle like the one below.

That's exactly what I meant, thanks! And sorry about that, fixed.
No problem
Would something like this work with the charger/data cable that comes with it?

good question, i was looking at picking one of these up so i could use my ps3 controller with my prime's included charging cable.....
http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Female-5-Pin-Male-Adapter/dp/B002S7PS8M
USB female to mini-usb male.
would this work and do i really need to shell out for that box, i just don;t understand what exactly it does, i think for what i'm trying to do it should be fine, i could see the issues when trying to use a usb hdd as i could see more drivers needed to even access the data from the drive....i would think a ps3 controller would just show up....any suggestions or buying some extra box to carry around 100% necessary....

Bought this last week thinking the same thing.
Does not recognize devices. Something is weird about the dock cable.
I was trying to pair my PS3 controller, I ended up doing it with the keyboard port instead.
On a somewhat related note, I dont recommend you buy the item at that link. I ended up chucking mine out because it was too loose to hold the cables in... and its mustard yellow...eww
I've yet to confirm this myself, but I believe the dock connector uses different pins for "USB Host" (ex: plugging in a controller to the tablet) and "USB Device" (ex: plugging the tablet into a PC) modes. Using a USB Female-Female adapter, as others above have proven, will not work.
Wait...I spoke to soon, the link above is useless. It's backordered and I can't find it anywhere else. Anyone have an idea?
I got mine from microcenter, in tustin, ca. There might still be one there. And yea I first tried a female to female adapter on the usb charging cable it came with and no dice. However this adapter does work. Plugged my 360 controller in and played some shadowgun.
Any way to disable USB charging?
dafuk?? .....
Im guessing you use like an mhl cable or something in that nature where you need the data connectivity but not the power from the cable?
Then well strip the cable and remove the power lines. RED and BLACK and solder together.
Or manufacture a modul. Lets say you buy a usb extension cord. Break that cable and remove the power cable. Plug in the extension cord between the micro usb cable and mhl or whatever device you're using.
Or I dunno... I think you need to explain y u ask this question..

Yes, something like that (DAC/AMP)

Doing that won't break otg connectivity, since the 5th pin is also used for sync..?

Then I believe it won't be functioning as otg anymore.
Overall - that's why I wanted on/off hack to turn this on demand only (night charging...).
Yes you are right. Looking at this photo the ground is being actively used for turning regular cable into OTG with pin 4 to pin 5

What you could try and the only thing you really can do here. Is to cut the vcc (red) cable and solder on a switch. Perhaps buy a box to feed the cable through. Drill a hole for the switch. Solder on the vcc cable from the usb cable.
A switch like this, or a screw on model.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/5Pcs-Black-...908?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27fe925acc
A box
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Junction-Ad...961?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33a3085b49
Or you could buy a ready made kit
http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-380V-10A...0&pid=100005&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=330789747574&rt=nc
Flip the switch before u go to bed and turn it off when its done.
From looking at the first picture in theory cutting the vcc cable and turning it from nc to no would just stop the device from charging. But I am not sure. Because there is as you say data actively being fed for the OTG interface.
The two things that can happen is
1: The device stops charging
2: The device loses OTG connection and stops charging
So yeah.. If you have some spare time to take in. Try it and see what happens.
I have several external hdd and ssd, all of them use Micro B port, can I simply get a micro b to type c cable and link my 6T to an external hdd or ssd as otg or I will need an otg adapter?
I ordered type c to micro b cable and backup to harddisk works fine. First time I tested like that picture with mixed parts and it works fine

Bought a cheap mini usb b to usb c adapter while waiting for a more serious otg order from aliexpress, it didn't work with both usb memory and ssd to op6t, they didn't light up at all. I enabled otg in settings but it didn't change a thing. Is there another option to enable like extra usb power?
Try with USB 3.1 hub + charger. But I test my OP6T with 1Tb harddisk 2.5" + my picture mixed cable and it's working fine. Probably it depends how much harddisk drain power from phone.
It had to be USB 3.0 cable otherwise it will not work, because current is not enough to support harddisk getting to operate

I had it working by rebooting my phone! I had a bug with whatsapp calls so I rebooted my 6t and said to myself "what if otg was bugged too before the reboot" so I gave it a try again and it worked with my ssd, hdd and memory stick.
I could transfer my previous TB folder without the need of my PC.
Now I am searching for a mini micro sd reader to usb c
I got my cable. Also sdcard reader
I tested all the ports while connected to a Tab S4 and they all work including plugging in an ethernet adapter. This hub does not give the error "Close cover to run DeX" so the Tab S4 tablet does not need a keyboard or book cover to operate with this hub.
I have two ethernet adapters, both work when directly plugged into the S4 however only the 10/100 adapter works when plugged into the hub, the 1000g adapter lights up but does not work. I assume that the faster adapter requires more power than the Samsung adapter can provide.
Is there a Samsung certified power adapter with more capacity than the one that comes with the Tab?
USB C Hub HDMI 4K,7-in-1 Type-C Hub,with Power Pass Through,4K HDMI Output,TF SD Card Reader,3 USB 3.0 Ports,Aplomb Type c Splitter Adapter
Here is my DeX setup and everything used is listed in this thread aside from the monitor
As stated above, here is the compatible hub. USB C Hub HDMI 4K,7-in-1 Type-C Hub,with Power Pass Through,4K HDMI Output,TF SD Card Reader,3 USB 3.0 Ports,Aplomb Type c Splitter Adapter
Ordered this Ethernet adapter and it works great with the above hub. Anker 1g Enet adapter
I just received this stand for $10 on Amazon, great quality stand and much better than I expected. I decided to put the tablet on a stand for three reasons. First, it takes up less space this way, second, it allowed for a stree-free USB connection, and lastly, because I have DeX set up to extend my mouse off the right side of my monitor onto the left side of the tablet so I can use my mouse on the tablet as well.
I'm using a Logitech keyboard that I had, it's the 2.4ghz kind and the Logitech Unifying receiver is plugged into the hub.
The mouse is a Microsoft Surface Arc mouse that I bought for use with my Galaxy Bool.
The tablet is a Galaxy Tab S4.
It all works great but I don't know how much use this setup will get once the newness wears off

Has anyone tried the desktop mode on the V60, or at least confirm that it has one? I've seen demonstrations on the V50 when it got the Android 10 update and that would do me.

Thanks so much for that, I've asked in a few places and this is the first answer I've had. I guessed a desktop mode would have there but you never know.
The V60 looks like a good replacement for my Note9 later in the year. I just need to be able to buy one in the UK.

It's the same as the V50 & G8X, so a proper desktop mode but not as advanced as DeX. I have a NexDock 2 and use it with Samsung DeX and Huawei Easy Projection all the time. Looking at videos of LGs desktop mode it will do a reasonable job, which is all I need. Once Linux on DeX went away and Samsung dropped the 3.5mm headphone port I realised that I needed something different for my next device.
Can someone give a short how to?
I used a USB-c hub that has HDMI. I connected the hub to the USB-c port, and the monitor the the HDMI. It does not work with the magnetic port, it seems. (Though the magnetic port does support connecting to a computer with USB). You get a desktop, and can use the phone itself as a trackpad. If the hub has power in, you can keep the phone powered.
It is really too bad about the magnetic port, since I like to keep the phone in the dual case, and am afraid that too much in and out of the case will damage the UCR port of the phone...

So I have the same concern and never take mine out of the dual screen case. Could it be the cable used doesn't have all the pins needed internally and this may work? I can't see how it would work to a computer and not a TV.

never mind. USB-C is 22 active pins. That explains why the 12 pin magnetic connector doesn't work for HDMI.
