Hi guys,
I am extremely happy with my Xperia S battery life after updating to FW .75. I never had android phone (X10, ARC S) lasts 3 full days without charging. I have test it this time with less wifi use, no 3g, less music and I am really proud of my Xperia.
Thanks.

You are saying that your battery is holding tree days (72h)? Can you please post your battery graph? I'd like to see your usage pattern.

Why create a new thread ? There is already a battery life thread.
Mods please merge this with the main battery life thread.
I am sorry, if there is a thread for the same, but I didn't find it. Anyway, here is my phone battery graphics attached.

Your screen just says:
Hello im sxs and i did nothing the last 3 days, only sleeping.
You got 3 stripes for screen.
How many minutes screen on? 10?

ha ha, i was thinking that.
but to be fair, even if that's the case, 3 days is pretty good.
my current phone (wildfire s) even if it's left on standby most of the time, will only last around 26 hours MAX....that's with everything switched off and the phone basically sat idle for the whole time....
i've just ordered an xperia s though, so i'll be getting it tuesday
can't wait!

This is my first smartphone, and I'm suprised by stories of people that can't make a full day on a single charge I usually have >50% left with normal usage, and with heavy usage enough for a day.
If you are like me that are playing around with root and cusrom rom
If I start playing with it at 14.00 hours my battery goes dead in about 4-5 hours :-(
But for everyday use my sensation hold for Max one day ;-)
I am getting use to it. And it is one of the biggest dravdown of smartphones anno 2010 - 2012
Hope we are getting some new battery technology in the near future ;-)

Then check what is eating the battery, because that's not normal.
Settings->About phone->battery use
If you can't find what app is causing drain, do a clean fresh install and see how it goes on stock.
If stock goes ok, then your phone(from hardware side) is ok.

You are doing something really strange I'm afraid. Go back to basics and stock everything!
My on stock work fine...if charge it over night, after all day of clicking, and working om;em, in the evening is abouy 30-40...so it can works almoust 2 days if you power off at night
The battery drain issue cause by kernel version. FW .283 has the best kernel battery back-up, mix it with .62 ROM and baseband, = EPIC STOCK ROM.

Seeing gingerbread on this phone is already annoying enough but the battery life is completely useless.
Considering that it has sealed in battery, we're truly stuffed. Can't understand it at all. Don't they test these phones.
I went to bed last night with the battery at 98% and woke up to find it this morning at 63%. Just ridiculous.

It's just you
what firmware are you running? how long have you had the phone? If you are at .73 you should have no problems, even at update .67 its not too bad, so it's you... unless you sleep for 2 days .
Also, there's also a battery thread, which isn't even on the second page of this section yet. Or did you make this just to start a whine
thread?
Edit: Actually, its on the second page now, my bad
I'm on stock Rom the battery is pants, however I have used my desire charger, full charge from 40 percent in 15 mins, so it may be pants but it's ok ics should improve things

Hope moderators will merge the thread with the other one
I am running .73 firmaware & have no battery problem.. 16-17 hours with heavy use is more than enough when everything is on auto update.. In my sleep time, battery goes down just 3-4%.
.73 Firmware says otherwise
same here after update (.73) it lasted more than 8hrs (heavy usage). 7:00am unplugged and came back home around 7:00pm with 20% left. Standby during sleeping now takes around 3-4% in sleep mode compare to 30-35% on firmware .63 or .62 (i forgot)
4 days here and still 23percent left...

I know battery suck on .67. Even my Arc did better. But don't you cry, be optimistic, the Xperia S in still in development, and still needs to optimized by Sony. And in the future it does! Then post yourself a happy smile ok?

On .73 it's lasting longer than my Arc did, with even more background synch events.
The Xperia Ray had a awesome battery, on that note
Firmware does improve battery, gingerbread did wonders for the X10, but like everyone said the latest firmware does fix the battery, I had to charge midday when I first got my XS because the battery would drop very quick with heavy usage and half a day with moderate use, now it's last all day till bed time, thou it still can be improved.

Hi XDA
So I have been lurking around here for the past 6 months, but now finally I found a problem I that was needed for me to make a question myself, thus making a profile.
(The following is a tale of me and my phone)
I recently had an xperia Arc, which i was so very much in love with, but as it goes in all love stories (of my life), love doesn’t last forever... I had my Arc running Doomkernel with KA16 rom. Oh how i loved it, just up to the moment when Chelsea and Bayern München were playing second half of the Champion League final... At some point during my drunken haze I dropped the phone and the screen (display and glass) broke off.
I took it to my dealer 3, who had it examined by Sony. They declared that the phone had been a faulty model, as the glue that held the screen was solid and not stretchy (as it should be).
3 therefore gave me the following offer: Pick one of the following phones, Xperia S or HTC one S.
Now I’m in bit of a dilemma. Because honestly I love Sony, I am a Sony fanboy with: Tv, radio, audio system, computers, home entertainment, tablets and a dead phone, so help me god.
However I have been checking up on the two, and while the XS does win on specs. The users seem to be a bit disappointed with the XS, especially with the power consumption and the matte finish being rubbed off.
So first of all: Do we have any positive confirmation that ICS, will improve battery drain?
And secondly: Would you buy a SX again if you could repick?
If you where here for 6 months and you read all the users reports... so its up to you to choose

Thanks glad to hear that.
I'm just a bit concerned with the flaws that the XS seems to have.
My main concern is defo the battery, but the finish of the cover and the yellow tint on the display seems to be pretty widespread in some regions :/
The battery is not a problem.

I have not seen anything about ICS and improved battery. No problems with the battery here. I get 12/24h depending on the use.
Sure, it would allways be nice with a improvement, but i would be happy if ICS could keep the current usage.
Yes, i would prob. choose XS again, mostly due to the design. In my book, the design of nature, a flying cow or a bike on fire just dont turn me on.
Yes, you can get more powerfull phones like the HoX or S3, and even with ICS. But to me the design are just to borring and mainstream.
I can't say that battery is any worse that the HTC Desire & Desire S I had before it.
As others have said, one of the deciding factors was the design - it's a very striking design and stands out from the crowd.
It's not a perfect phone for sure, but no regrets here!

Data always on, often with WiFi though, about 30 minutes call time and a lot of screen on time (ebooks) plus Gmail and stuff syncing in the background. I can get about 20 hours.
xperia s of course.
but dont leave the store until you test it thoroughly.. the display, the bottom cap, etc.
and dont forget to give it a case. there are lot of case that'll make the XS even cooler.
and the battery seems fine if u dont play games a lot. though mine is only last for about 10 hours (3G only, syncing, im, email), around 7-8 hours with some games, and around 4-6 hours with continuous games
but i dont mind. this beauty's only need around 1 hr and 30 minutes to fully charged!
The battery last for 1-2 days and the matte on the back didn't rub itself .. mine looks like new, and I use my phone alot sometimes I charge it 2-3 times a day ! 3g + games all the time!
--
But mine has the yellow tint problem . So be carefull what you buy !
My dad's Xperia U used to last around 4-5 days with a bit of Wi-Fi, 40% brightness and a call a day. Battery would go down to 15-20%.
Now as you unplug the charger it goes from 100% to 96% instantly. After using it for half a second the battery went down to 93%. Wi-Fi is off, brightness is set to 30% and Auto-Sync is OFF. What do I do? It's not rooted and it's running Stock Gingerbread 2.3.7
Quick replies will be appreciated.
Additional Info: The phone is under warranty and it was purchased about 2 months ago.

In my opinion its good to send it to repair center mate, it can be a battery problem.
same thing happened on my Samsung Galaxy Y, so i disregarded battery full indication, when battery showed full i restarted. left to charge and did it again if problem persisted. problem disappeared gradually.

Question
Hi to all
My xperia u does something quite weird. I can't get my battery to last more than one day. I tried different roms, kernels with governors and my battery seems to drain and the main consumer is my screen _ about 65 % while any other process doesn't pass over 15%. Has anybody conflicted with this problem?
How do I get it fixed? Do I need to buy another battery?
PS: I don't have warranty hence the unlocked bootloader

Decrease your brightness and turn of Mobile Bravia Engine if you don't need it. I have three Xperia U's in my house and two of them used to have the problem. Turned the brightness down to 30% and it resolved it. Also I charge it to 100% and kill it down to complete 0% by heavy usage. Try this. Works with laptops and phones.

Hey guys, yes its true! I sold my xperia z ultra
It was a good phone apart from the endless problems I had for example
Battery life was terrible even with stamina mode on ( got around 3.5hours Max )
Power button went in, and wasn't as robust or stiff
Froze a couple of times
And it was actually a little too big, I tried to fight it as much as possible but now having the Z2 which is just perfect in the hand and I get over 6 hours screen on time ( see picture )
Although I'll miss this beast of a phablet I will also miss the guys in this forum. You've been great. Thanks for helping out on every question I had to ask !

Hahah, exactly.. I'm getting a minimum of 4 hours of screen time on each charge. I've gotten 6 hours in the past week, and the battery is 7 months old. The only battery at this age and calibration that is this good is a HTC battery that is still good after 3 years (Desire HD). My old Samsung battery died after 18 months.
It says a lot about OEM battery quality.
