Dock clock - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I dont have my S3 yet (wait inpatiently here in the US). Im looking for a dock clock feature/app. Wanting the screen to turn into a clock when i put into dock charger.
Any recommendations on apps out there?

And yes i am aware that there is a ton of dock clocks in google play, but since i have never used one i dont know if they automatically turn into a clock when you set it in the charger dock.

It has the built in stock one which you have to activate yourself if thats any good?

The sg3's screen is prone to burn in due to it being amoled.
I don't think that it's a good idea to use these kinds of apps with this phone.
Just FYI.

Finally decided to get the Prime 64GB

Just picked up the 64GB Asus Transformer Prime 2 hours ago and so far really liking how fast this thing is! I got the keyboard as well, but as I am typing on the Prime, I keep accidentally hitting the track pad and keeps moving around. Will have to check for the settings if there is any. It does have Android 4.0.3.
Now will be selling my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Where did you get it from?

Fry's Electronic store. The website shows as zero instock, but I was in the area and stopped by and they had them in-stock. They actually have the Champagne 32GB as well.

And you don't have any issues with horizontal lines across your screen?
I decided to get breakfast this morning. It was pretty good, although I kept trying to eat my cornflakes with a fork.

So far no horizontal issues that I see. only seeing the GPS issue like others, and low WiFi signal.
Another thing I did notice is that I have the keyboard dock and when I docked the Prime, it was showing that the Prime tablet was at 100% and the dock at 90% and started to have some lock ups, I restarted and when it did, it showed the Prime tablet 89% and the dock 91% and doesn't show that it is charging the Prime tablet. Hmm... Not good for a $600 tablet.
Another thing I noticed is that the cursor jumps all over the screen when I am typing with the keyboard and I don't even touch the track pad. Another bad thing. I might try to exchange the keyboard dock for another and see if it is the keyboard.

gps fix seems to be released in the new OTA update tonight.
What version does it up date too? Running the System Firmware Update and keep getting "Failed to Connection" I will keep trying
Hopefully it does fix GPS as I would use this feature a lot since I would be traveling outside office everyday.

Try turning off the touchpad while you type. It's the 4th button from the left on the top row, if your keyboard is like the TF101's.

By the way keyboard works great with touchpad disabled.

Try toggling the key on the dock that enables/disables the touchpad?

Did you ensure the touchpad is turned on? It's the fourth button from the left of quick launch buttons

Do you have it on IPS+ mode all the time?
nope i leave it about 3/4 brightness on regular isp. It eventually goes away after using it for videos and other things. if i use it as my remote which i do alot with google tv and the harmony link...it burns and i have a grid of lines on the screen left over. i find it crazy that it can burn in so fast
If it goes away, it is not screen burn. It's image retention.

The space bar doesn't work on mine since the update

Exactly, also image retention will be worse the higher the screen brightness regardless the device.

Is there any kind of landscape dock for the flyer/view?

I'm looking into building a custom dock/stand to install it in my cars dash. I can't seem to find any kind of landscape dock. I know there's an official portrait one for the view but that's not going to work for what I want to do.
If anyone knows of any please let me know, I'm trying to stay way from using one of the available car mounts.
Sent from my Express using xda premium
Im also mounting mine in the dash of my car. I couldn't find a nice dock either so i've resorted to building it all from scratch using fiberglass.
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using XDA
I still haven't been able to find one for the view/flyer.
Though, I found one for the Samsung Galaxy tab 7+. I checked the dimensions for it and it looks like they are spot on the same length, the view is about 1/8th shorter. And that's nothing a but of epoxy and sanding can't fix. Im going to remove the 30 pin connector and replace it with the stock 12pin extmicro.
Still going to look for a more sutieable dock before I do all that.

Brightness flashing

OK I'm new to the tf201. Just got it after my tf101 and have tried searching for some answers but didn't find anything.
When I manually set my brightness and say watch a movie in the dark at night I can see my brightness clicking up and down. Anyone experienced this? I also have washed out colors ... but I think that's just my screen.
Thanks

I think I readed a while ago that the constrast is changing a bit. I would also want to disable that.
Sent from my sgs2 running cm9 using xda app
me too!!!
Omg this is SO ANNOYING. I emailed the asus tech guys but all thry said was to return it
Or to send it in for RMA
The contrast is changing? How do you fix (change) that?
Hum mm maybe I should send it back in....
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium HD app
It's a tegra 3 battery saving feature, automatic contrast. It's extremely annoying, but sadly no way to remove it... It's less visible if you up the brightness. Really wish Asus would make it so you could turn it off, at least in performance mode or something...

Question is where have you been scouting? instead of scouting try searching
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=31801814&pp=25&page=2
Thanks Guys,
I did trying searching it came back with Zero results, possibly didnt have the correct words.. thanks again
So i clicked the link, and no matches found
sorry to get this old thread back up.
I'm currently working on a keyboard backlight mod for my tf201.
I plan on using EL Panels for the light.Problem is, the needed inverter is too big for the case so I need do design an external "dongle" that gets power from the battery and feed high voltage for the EL panels back in. I'm thinking about using some sort of USB connector and a 3D printed case for the electronics.
The panels I ordered should arrive in the next 2 weeks and I'll start working (and documenting).
Use a strip led... then plug it into dock bbattery and add a switch into the dock for on off.... should be enough room...

nah, that's boring (also, I like EL Panels and discouraging people from using random found usb drives
I did it.
I succesfully modified my TF201 keyboard dock with some el panels and added a plug outside to connect the inverter. Power comes from the internal battery.

I'll write a detailed blog post with pictures during the next few days.
There we go
Complete documentation for the mod I did

enjoy
I think it's really cool! ...any chance there will be a future one that stays more internal? Just wondering...

I'm working on that
Problem with EL wire and panels are the inverters needed for the supply voltage and frequency. Since those conain a coil / transformer of sorts, they tend to be big. But there are inverters and parts for smaller panels. So maybe I can build something with that.

I may try this on the Asus 701 keyboard or my old tf201 keyboard ....( I also might scavenge the battery from the 201 board and make portable one.....
