Boot into Recovery and wipe cache partition, dalvik cache and battery stats. Then flash the new version via Recovery. Then re-wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions.

The latest version is 1.4a. Always fix permissions just to make sure you run into no problems.
Also make sure you re-install the gapps-hydrid.zip again aswell or you wont get access to play store.
Also re-install the gapps through cwm aswell.
Hope this helps

[Q] Problems applying a new ROM

Hi there I am having some problems with flashing the latest Liquid Smooth Rom 3.0 on my HTC Thunderbolt. A few months ago I rooted and installed an earlier version of the Liquid Smooth Rom without encounter any problems. Today I tried to update to the newer version, on the mod’s side I downloaded the relevant items listed starting with the IMOSEYON Kernel, renamed the zip “update”, and installed it in ClockworkMod Recovery. Restarted, mounted the ROM installed I got a little Liquid Smooth ascii logo saying it installed but after that my phone just restarts hanging on the HTC load screen. I have been through the “noob starter guide” sticky on this forum and repeated part 3 a few times now as well as tried #4 and #6 in the part 11 trouble shooting but still getting the HTC load screen hang. Does anyone have any suggestions to get the ROM working?
Did you install the sense or asop version of the kernel?
Did you wipe davlik cache before flashing the kernel?
What version of recovery are you using?
Did you wipe data/cache before updating to new Rom?
Answer those and I will attempt to help you out.
If I helped you in any way please use the thank you button.

Steps to go from ICS to GB -custom ROM's

Hi there!
As i have try to find info about downgrading ROM's with no success. (It's big forum indeed).
I have installed ICS XXLPH. Rooted and CWM-ed with Chainfire kernel.
If i want to install custom GB ROM's with CWM are there some precautions that has to be taken prior to go from ICS to GB?
Thanks a lot!
Brgds,
M.
You can just flash immediately from CWM with no problems, there are no actual precautions. However, you will need to wipe all of your data, cache and dalvik COMPLETELY before flashing because any ICS data will not be compatible with GB (otherwise, you'll just have non-stop crashing and force close issues)
Step 1 - use the search button

I DID!!!! But haven't found what i was looking for ( Thanks!
Reboot into cwm, wipe everything (data, cache, dalvik), flash zip - rom and reboot.

So i guess no big deal to jump from ICS to GB. Thanks guys!

There is no automatic update, you need to download 27.2 and flash it.

Ok, Thanks for the answer
Does that apply to all roms? For example Cyanogenmod or Checkrom EvoHD ?
I´ve been thinking about trying them anywayz so this might be a fine excuse to do so
Kinda been trying to way them up against each other but not found enough about them to be able to decide...

you can install it over 27.1 because it's no-wipe rom.
but if the rom says that you need to Full wipe your device, you need to factory reset your phone to be able to flash full wipe rom.just nerdy words, hope this helps.

Installing a ROM

hi guys.
still noob about android and have some questions about installing a new ROM..
If i am on a 4.1.1 version with Omega now, can i just flash a new ROM when its based on 4.2.1 for an example?
I am a little bit confused, because i think it is like an iphone, where you cant install a higher version..
hope you guys understand me
Thanks...
If you wipe from cmw (recovery) everything (Data, cache, dalvik cache)
than you can flash rom without bricking, but if not, you may end up on a bootlop or brick your device, which is no good. So always if coming from another rom (doesn't matter which version) wipe everything.

[Q] Unroot For Selling.

Hey guys,
Im having some questions.
Got a new phone and i am going to sell my S II to my uncle but he want it as it comes in the box.
-I am running Slimbean+Dorimanx and it has some reboot issues.
-Now i understand that i need to flash an original rom (and kernel?).
If you have to flash an original kernel also do you do that first or first the ROM?
-Is it possible to go back to ICS, or is this risky to brick the phone?
-And last will the reboot issues automatically be fixed with original ROM?
I've searched alot of post but can't find answers to these questions.

I do not help people who sell their S II.
---------- Post added at 06:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:25 PM ----------
kidding, get a stock rom from sammy and let the flash begin.
Try not to flash a 4.0.4 tho, that's some nasty kernel.
you could also flash jb leak (don't tell him it's a leak), just tell him that is the latest SO for Samsung Galaxy S II and the newest devices fresh outta the box's got it. If he goes for it you can pump the price up and I'll get my 10%...lol

Flash the ROM first. Your phone will restart, but will be stuck on the galaxy SII logo. Turn off phone. Reboot into recovery (which will be the stock 3e one), and do a factory reset. No need to wipe caches, dalvik or fix permissions.
Edit: You can also boot into recovery from your preset custom ROM, before flashing the stock ROM via odin and perform a factory reset. It doesn't matter when you do it.
Also, please remember to keep re-partiton unticked and DO NOT use the .pit file if it is there.
