Best Screen Size In your opinion? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

In your opinion what is the optimum screen size?
Screen size of 3.5"
Screen size of 4"
Screen size of 4.3"
Screen size of 4.5"
Screen size > 4.5"

i voted 4", but would be fine with anything between 4 and 4.3.. but 4.3 is kinda like the max, unless of course the device comes with edge to edge screen, then maybe 4.5 is fine too

voted 4.3
Though screen size of the note would be nice

I understand the idea behind the thread but it doesn't really have anything to do with our device does it? Kind of odd to post it here and not the general forums

Voted 4.3
Small enough to comfortably fit in my pocket and large enough to be useful.

I posted it here because the Interest in users of the general forum specially for a topic like this is quite less. And I would like it know if 4.3" which is the i777 screen size is the most versatile size. Sorry if it caused even minor inconvenience.

100 inches

Taking into consideration how comfortably I can pocket the phone, the SGS2 4.3" screen and overall phone dimensions worked better for me than my Infuse (although the Infuse was still ok).
Future phones with the same dimensions as the SGS2 with a front that's all screen would be awesome.

5,5 like future Note2

Screen is way too big. Really have to wonder if they think it will sell well.
I found it hard getting use to 4.2 inches (4.0 with sgs was perfect).
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I will upgrade with pleasure . Don't think it is really that big . Think about what is inside of it. Think about it like it is a little computer with a phone function. Would you prefer to take your laptop or a little bit overgrown multimedia device that gives you so much? I love my SG2 and if it grows a little... Huh... So be it. There will be more to love ;-).
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
I'd probably wait for nexus prime next. The upgrade of this one is too incremental to worth a full upgrade from an already top of the line phone.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
If I get a refund for my S2 and if they upped the quality on the screen then I would get this instead.
its not really an upgrade is it?? it is just an lte version of the sgs2
i wont be rushing to buy it , there will always be better devices coming , the sgs2 is still a lot more powerfull then pretty much every phone on the market
imagine what will be coming in 6-12 months time?? thats when i would think about upgrading
quad core is just round the corner and it looks immense i wont be rushing out to buy another dual core when i already have a top of the range one and with tech moving so fast both will be outdated in 6 months when quad core hits the market
its just my opinion but unless you need a screen that is slightly bigger why would you bother ''upgrading'' to this???
Galaxy s was the perfect size for me..s2 is large enough for my taste..no way to buy a 4,5 screen size phone...
its 0.2" bigger. I dont think very much bigger. The rounded edges is going to give advantage and the size wont look more compared to Original SGS22..
It definitely looks much better than Original. Its designed like Glaxy S and I liked the shape of that one. The back cover looks the same as the original one. they didnt mention more about the Display, but battery wise its a big advantage too.
The good thing is that it would slash down the price of Original SGS2...
I thought this was supposed to be announced at IFA...
Too soon, would rather wait at least until Nexus Prime before upgrading.
No thank you, I don't need a tablet.
Meh, maybe if audio recording is better then on sgs2 (which shouldn't be too hard).
will wait next year. There will be LTE advanced Galaxy S3. Besides I have invested on accessories for S2.

So S2-Plus in Nov and S3 in Jan-Feb?
doesnt look as good as the sgs2 imo
It's just too soon. I plan to have SGS2 at least for 2 years.
But 4.5" ? I'm fine with that. I'm starting to feel my SGS2 is a bit small
Upgrade it no but consider to buy it for my wife

For me even 4.3" is a bit too big, so 100% no for 4,5" screens from me. I'd say 4" is a sweet spot for mobile phones.
Bigger screen ... . but most of the rumors seem to indicate that the resolution is still the same as for S2 at 800×480.

+1 on the big screen. Though I just bought a GNex, my note will remain my primary device solely because of its size. And I just got my mom a GS3, again, I would still pick my Note over that purely because of the screen. I won't jump ship to the Note 2, again because of the screen, that 16:9 ratio just isn't as appealing (yes I know my nexus is 16:9, but its a freaking nexus, as a backup/dev phone). Until Samsung gets back on track with the 16:10 for the future Note line, I will cherish this beast until it craps out a long time from now.
I also always enjoy showing people how great of phones Samsung makes. It's funny how many iPhone users are amazed by this thing. "Is that your phone? How do you like it? Does it fit in your pocket? Really, 720p? It has a stylus too? LTE speeds? And you can customize it that much? Damn." Then I tell them to hand me their phone for a second, and show them how the iPhone 4 fits completely within just the screen of my Note, and that's just the icing on the cake. They always end up thinking this phone is awesome.

The huge screen is why I've wanted it since it first came out & it's exactly as great as I thought it'd be, but now that I actually have the phone I'm incredibly impressed with the speed & smoothness of it, especially with ICS. The camera is fast & I don't get the annoying pink spot in the center of all my pics like with my GSII. Call quality is great too, everyone sounds so much clearer & people have been commenting on how much clearer I sound too(though that may be partly due to AT&T). And HOLY CRAP I love the stylus. Side note- I find it kind of funny how back when PDA phones first came out people used to ***** about the styluses, but now they're coming back into fashion. It's probably the best phone I've ever had

I still wish a company would make superphone w 4.3" screen

Gone are the days of 4.3 being big. Now its 4.7 or larger and while I enjoy that size a part of me finds the rezound to be almost perfect for me.
Kinda makes me wish HTC could throw out a 4.3 or 4.5 version of the butterfly out to the market.
I am very much sold on the new HTC coming to Verizon but for me, pocketablity wise the smaller with all the power would be perfect.
Anyone else?
I feel the same way. 4.3"-4.5" is perfect. 4.7" is a bit too big, and 5" is really pushing it.
Bigger the better IMO.

I'm the same, I returned my galaxy nexus and eventually got a rezound. The only thing I miss from the galaxy nexus (other than it being a nexus device) was the larger screen size. I could type fast on it in portrait mode, but I'm always mistyping on the rezound. I don't even have big hands.

Jumbo phones
I think that cell phones in history have taken a weird turn - started out like holding a brick to your face, then they got smaller and smaller, but now all the high end phones are jumbo phones.
Not much you can do when it's packing a quad core processor, etc.
Honestly I think my LGOG is the largest I'd go. SG3 maybe is easier to hold, but is taller. I really like iPhone 5 form factor, but screen too narrow.
I went to local ATTs and played with each until I was sure.
If you told me I would be using 4.7 inch back when I had my iPhone I wouldn't believe you

I had the Inspire for a long time and loved the size of the screen.
After I got the OG, I was like, Damn that's small..
This is pretty perfect. Other phones too massive for me.
As far as my normal everyday phone use goes, I'm maxed out with the OG. Honestly, it's mainly because I can't fit anything bigger in my pocket without worrying I'll snap it in half. I have and old Galaxy Tab that I love for watching movies, reading, etc when waiting in line somewhere. And a Xoom for certain situations at work

If not, what phone do you have lol. And what made you come here if you're fine with it? :x
my nex7 fits in my pocket......
I moved from a Samsung Captivate to the LGOG. I "tolerate" the LGOG size for the features and better screen, though I prefer the Captivate for pocketability. I wouldn't go any bigger than the LGOG regardless of features.
I think its 4.7' for me. I don't see a reason for any bigger really. I have a tablet, a laptop, and a 55 inch TV so if I ever need a bigger screen, I have it.
Nexus One
The 3.7 inch screen on the Nexus One was personally my favorite size.
Optimus G is the biggest I'm willing to go. I can't see myself going any bigger.
Don't think I can handle anything bigger than the LGOG E970 due to arthritic fingers. This phone size is still comfortable even though I use 2 hands a lot. Love the screen size due to eyesight, etc. I have 7", 8.9", & 10" screen tablets for bigger screen needs.
With smartphones, started off with 4", then went to 4.3", then to this LG. No bigger for me.

I jumped from an iPhone 4 to our device and I still don't believe how comfortable I am with such a larger size. That said, I absolutely love it and wouldn't even trade for the Nexus 4 at this point!
To answer the original question, I'd say the largest I'd go is probably around 5 inches, maybe 5.5 if I had a chance to hold it before I bought it. I have huge hands, and so it's more a question of what will fit in my pocket!

Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
The camera on the One seems a little less reliable (im getting more out of focus or slightly blurry shots) but people have said an update is coming that fixes it. The design of the One makes Samsung look like a bunch of amateurs. The screen is much better too. I'm not sure why, but no one ever mentions how poor amoled displays are out in sunlight. You can't even read them! But the One is nice and clear just like other IPS displays. Battery life is enough to make it through a day easily and I'm really liking the boomsound speakers.

I just wish it had the same battery life. I'm not complaining about HTC's battery life but it's just not as good as the Note 2 but understandably so.

Personally, I'm glad to shed a little bit of screen size in favor of a more manageable, attractive device. The Note 2 is great, no doubt about it, but the HTC One is better. There's no other way to say it.
I like the screen on this device vs my note 2. Also the screen size for this is much more manageable to hold and use rather than the note 2. I miss using one hand. Lol

i miss the screen size when i'm reading emails, text messaging or surfing the web. it's not to the point that i can't/won't adjust to a smaller screen. battery life so far has been in line with my expectations, meaning it's been enough to get me through my normal workday. i knew going into my "trial run" that the One could not compete on the battery front. yes, the One is easier to maneuver vs. the Note II but not so much that it would sway me away from the Note II. one thing is for sure, the One is one sexy a$$ kit that works well and has not let me down relative to the hype. my decision is which one will get used most often... right now, my Note II has temporarily replaced my laptop (UltraXPS) on flights to/from client sites and when attending meetings (which averages about 4-5 hours every day). the One is being used as my business phone. my plans now are to keep both devices.

This is exactly how I feel! I really, really love the Note II, and it's only been a couple of days with the One, but I definitely still "feel" like I'm missing something or leaving features behind. It's some combination of the removable battery, the screen size, the S-Pen (used infrequently, but cool when I do) and yes... a few of those gimmicky "kitchen sink" features Samsung throws in that are actually useful.
The One is clearly an awesome device, so I'm giving it time. This is a trial run for me as well, and I feel like I'm right back where I was last year with the One X+ vs. the Note II. It still boils down to a "beauty" vs "the beast" choice, and I'm not quite sure where I fall this year.
