I still wish a company would make superphone w 4.3" screen - HTC Rezound

Gone are the days of 4.3 being big. Now its 4.7 or larger and while I enjoy that size a part of me finds the rezound to be almost perfect for me.
Kinda makes me wish HTC could throw out a 4.3 or 4.5 version of the butterfly out to the market.
I am very much sold on the new HTC coming to Verizon but for me, pocketablity wise the smaller with all the power would be perfect.
Anyone else?

I feel the same way. 4.3"-4.5" is perfect. 4.7" is a bit too big, and 5" is really pushing it.

Bigger the better IMO.

My thumbs are too big for the keyboard on a 4.3"..... Too many times I have to go back and correct spelling or auto-correct word choice.

This is true for me too. Maybe that's why I like big phones cause I have big hands and a huge d...well that doesn't really apply to the topic.

Being Italian myself, much like you I also have a huge d..............................esire to not have to constantly fix errors in my texts.

I had an iPhone for a weekish and the small keyboard is abysmal and always enjoyed the 4.3. I can palm basketballs so its not so much the size just more being able to slide the thing in my pocket. I love the note 2...in theory. I'm sure my perception will change just for me 4 is too small. 4.3 is happy medium. I liked my nexus at 4.65. I dunno lol

I'm the same, I returned my galaxy nexus and eventually got a rezound. The only thing I miss from the galaxy nexus (other than it being a nexus device) was the larger screen size. I could type fast on it in portrait mode, but I'm always mistyping on the rezound. I don't even have big hands.

This thing is TINY

so, compared to the 4G, this thing is tiny!
i didnt think the thinner screen would make this much of a difference but to me it's really quite noticeable.
im unsure if i like it better. it's definitely easier to hold but i really do miss the extra screen width of the 4G.
the high resolution is nice though...although it adds to the feeling of it being smaller.
i think this size can bring the potential customers that were unsure if they could handle a phone the size of the evo 4g.
what do you guys think?

Evo is 15:9, Evo3D is 16:9, bezel is nearly identical.
i'm talking about the perceived size.
DDiaz, i know yours got delivered today, are u saying you dont think the 3D feels and looks smaller? or have you not got to play around with the phone yet?
The Evo 4G is wider by about 1/4" to 3/8"
For me its about the same size as my Hero. But the screen will cover most of that space.
For those coming from an Evo 4G it is a noticeable difference. Didn't people already know this.

Aside from the bootloader this has been my only concern...and after holding (the mockup) in my hand I must say that I am even more concerned now...and that suuuuuucks.
I really, really really really really hated it....but, we'll see once I get to play with it....but...i can imagine web browsing sucking a lot, though the resolution will still ensure I get MORE information on the page....but I was looking forward to simply having smoother fonts of the same size, but that would render my webpages completely effed up in portrait, and completely irritating in landscape...
...very very close to a deal breaker, but, I'll keep an open mind for a few weeks....but I'm getting heartbroken...I love my monster.

My favorite feature is the remote control

So far not blown away by this device. Blink is a bit limited. I think I prefer flipboard or scope. Havent really played with the camera yet, will do this weekend. Performance is really not much better than the hox. I'll use this for the week I guess and see comparisons between this and the sgs4. This screen is smaller than the nexus 4 also, some apps look smaller. I think the sgs4 will have a bigger screen and similar remote control? Anyone else not super impressed thus far?

Yea nexus 4 screen isnt its weakest con. I think the battery and camera are worse. But I'm surprised how good the remote control worked better than my 3 remote controls I usually have to use. the phone is great but i feel that sense slows it down =/ i got my phone today renewed my contract with an early upgrade paid almost 500, and now im slightly regretting it.
Shouldn't be stuck on stock Sense for long. I think once someone gets an AOSP-based 4.2 ROM up and running smoothly the One will be good to go.
Here's to hoping the so-called bootloader blunder will continue for a while to attract some good developers. If HTC shuts it down then this device will more or less suck compared to Nexus 4. ( just my opinion, AOSP > all OEM skins and is more important (to me) than hardware specs)

I'm thinking about it. What are your views?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
The camera on the One seems a little less reliable (im getting more out of focus or slightly blurry shots) but people have said an update is coming that fixes it. The design of the One makes Samsung look like a bunch of amateurs. The screen is much better too. I'm not sure why, but no one ever mentions how poor amoled displays are out in sunlight. You can't even read them! But the One is nice and clear just like other IPS displays. Battery life is enough to make it through a day easily and I'm really liking the boomsound speakers.

I loved my Note 2, but this has been a welcomed change. For me, the Note 2 was just a little too big and I think that this is the sweet spot.
I can honestly say that I've never used a phone that is this close to the complete package. I don't think you will regret it if you switch, the HTC One is flat out superb.

I will miss the deep AMOLED blacks when I'm browsing at night (as well as the battery efficiency), but I'm tired of people making a comment about how big my Note II is every time I need to check an email 4.7" is the perfect size for me.

Personally, I'm glad to shed a little bit of screen size in favor of a more manageable, attractive device. The Note 2 is great, no doubt about it, but the HTC One is better. There's no other way to say it.
I like the screen on this device vs my note 2. Also the screen size for this is much more manageable to hold and use rather than the note 2. I miss using one hand. Lol

i miss the screen size when i'm reading emails, text messaging or surfing the web. it's not to the point that i can't/won't adjust to a smaller screen. battery life so far has been in line with my expectations, meaning it's been enough to get me through my normal workday. i knew going into my "trial run" that the One could not compete on the battery front. yes, the One is easier to maneuver vs. the Note II but not so much that it would sway me away from the Note II. one thing is for sure, the One is one sexy a$$ kit that works well and has not let me down relative to the hype. my decision is which one will get used most often... right now, my Note II has temporarily replaced my laptop (UltraXPS) on flights to/from client sites and when attending meetings (which averages about 4-5 hours every day). the One is being used as my business phone. my plans now are to keep both devices.

This is exactly how I feel! I really, really love the Note II, and it's only been a couple of days with the One, but I definitely still "feel" like I'm missing something or leaving features behind. It's some combination of the removable battery, the screen size, the S-Pen (used infrequently, but cool when I do) and yes... a few of those gimmicky "kitchen sink" features Samsung throws in that are actually useful.
The One is clearly an awesome device, so I'm giving it time. This is a trial run for me as well, and I feel like I'm right back where I was last year with the One X+ vs. the Note II. It still boils down to a "beauty" vs "the beast" choice, and I'm not quite sure where I fall this year.

HTC ONE OR S4 take a look

hey guys just want to tell you guys my experience with both devices. I have both now for some time and compared them very deeply.
First of all: im not a fan boy of any device! Im neutral! Hope my experience helps deciding witch device.
HTC ONE AND GALAXY S4 (1.9 ghz Canadian model)
now that I used both devices for sometime I can tell you guys they are very different. No question that the ONE is better build and looks better.
The speakers in the front makes truly some big differences. For example if you are on speaker, its more clear and laud compared to the s4. Me my self I don't care that much for looks because I have to wear a case on it anyways because of my job. So if you do, then I can tell you the ONE feels better in the hand, looks better and sad to say it is really sexy. The S4 on the other hand feels not to bad too, its light and a good size, but plastic and it feels cheap. The display on both are great high ppi and look great. I personally have to give this one to the ONE. It just looks more real compared to the S4 that looks more cartoonish. The Cameras on both are really great. The 4 ultra on the one and the 13 mp on the s4 are for sure both very good. In low light it goes to the one and in day light to the s4. There is not really much difference. Now I come to the UI and this made my decision up between these both devices! The S4 with touch wiz is not that much different than the UI on the S3. The crazy thing about it is that it takes almost freaking 8GB of the internal storage. But yes you can use a sd card. Sense 5 is something new to the htc its very simple and in my opinion a little bit too basic. So for me the most important thing is that a device runs fluent without lag and fast! Exactly that point wins clearly THE ONE! it is smoother and more fluent. The s4 runs great don't get me wrong but it just dosnt feel any faster scrolling around then the S3. I probably will get something else to hear from s4 users now BUT I have both devices and use both for quiet some time now!
Im up for any question please ask I have both devices in front of me!
Thanks for the write up. Only question I have is whether you find your apps constantly refreshing or is multitasking working well ?

If you are in this forum, that fact by itself will make you choose the One.
It's just amazing how much thought was put into this phone. I do wish it had a microsd slot though. HTC could have placed it in the same slot as the SIM card.

I guess I'm going over that cliff with you. I'm loving the One, but I use my phone in my left hand and it's definitely not a one-handed phone for me. I can deal with it, but the buttons all seem reversed for me. Not really a complaint but an observation. Different strokes for different folks.

I'm assuming you're missing the point designgears was making on that "Please Drive Off a Cliff" comment to colts187.

Maybe colts187 and designgears were just messing around, in which case my comment is null lol
But yeah, saying a phone is better because its easier on a person to use it while driving is as smart as pouring milk on a bowl of thumbtacks and thinking it's cheerios.

galaxy s4 active vs. Htc One

I know the screen of the S4 Active has changed to TFT. How is that compared to the screen on HTC One?
I'm going to look at and possibly purchase the Active today. I will report back with my findings.
So I went to look at it... it took me less than 2 minutes before I decided I had to have it. So I bought it. It is a REALLY nice device, and the screen is nicer than the regular S4's. Compared to the One, the screen is just a hint brighter on full brightness, and pretty much on par with colors. I think the One might be just a tad richer, but that's about it. No doubt, the Active has a gorgeous display. It seems more responsive than the One as well. Definitely happy with my decision.

How is the Active already in stores? I thought they just announced it on the news a couple days ago

I really want one. You can even tear it down and spray the internals and make it super safe under water.....

It was released yesterday. Walked into an AT&T store in Kansas and walked out with it.

It's awesome. I like it better than the One believe it or not. It's noticeably more responsive, the screen is amazing, and it doesn't feel anywhere near as fragile as the One. The hard buttons are nice, but will take some time to get used to. The only thing about it is the dialer, man is it hideous.

Thanks! I got the urban grey one. The dive blue is slick as hell but I think had I gotten it, a month from now I would regret not getting the grey.
As far as what's wrong with the dialer.... you tell me:
Wow, that is pretty hideous. AOSP based rom can't come soon enough!

You're telling me. How anyone can say they prefer the look of Touchwiz over Sense is beyond me. It's really a joke, there is no comparison.

I don't know of who actually likes the look of TouchWiz, but as a Samsung owner myself, I do agree its more ergonomic and has better controls/options than Sense, but Sense is a much better looking UI

That I can agree with. As much as I love HTC phones, the Epic 4G Touch is still my all time favorite Android phone. Being back on a high end Samsung device is nice, reminds me of the glory days

Screen is nice and on par. Battery I have found to be not only better than the HTC one but also the original s4 as well.
That's without using any power saving apps or settings. I'm going to take some photos with both and compare them. I may post them here if anyone is interested however it's cloudy and raining today.

So, it seems thats "4ultra pixel" looks about the same as 8mp active camera, save for the zoom in detail loss.
The charging port bump and the front physical buttons are a definite NO.

That's how it's waterproofed. Good luck doing that on the HTC

Ever heard of the Sony Xperia Z? Hideous buttons on a High-end phone? No thank you. However, the TFT screen does look pretty nice. I'm sure if HTC wanted to make a water resistant device, it would be on par with the Xperia Z and wayyyy nicer than the S4 active.

Selling my One
The screen on the Active is sick. I think it looks better than the One. I might sell my HTC One or keeping it. I'm falling for Samsung once again until the Note 3 comes out in fall.
Just got my S4 Active today...
I really like it much more than the "original" S4...
It just feels much more solid and the screen is beautiful... used it for about 30 min then I sold my HTC ONE
