[Q] Typing on the Galaxy SIII - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
How is the overall typing on the Galaxy SIII? It it smooth, spaced, or bulky? Is the keyboard different from the galaxy S II?
Looking to buy a Galaxy S III and a spaced keyboard (similar to the G SII) is a must for me.
Thanks

Agreed. I swore by the ice cream sandwich keyboard but thought I'd try out swiftkey and I think my typing speed has improved a lot with it!

Im using the swype beta for ics

i am also using swype beta but just in case, the stock sammy keyboard also comes with a swype feature.

I hate all Android keyboards except the HTC one which for ICS is tied to sense frameworks. Teh Stock vanilla ones I cannot get along with. Same with the Sammy one.
I've tested all the major 3rd party keyboards and only one comes close to HTC for me which is Smart Keyboard. I couldnt get along with any others. Swift Key was alright but the calibration on Smart works great for me.

It works perfect on the MoPho...I actually prefer the stock multi touch keyboard as the letters are bigger and I have sausage fingers...but it displays no smaller than most other keyboards.

I've been running it the past couple days and it works good. The keys are the same exact size as the gingerbread keyboard I was using.

SlideIT Keyboard

I would like to recommend a nice keyboard replacement for the Note.

I had actually purchased this keyboard for a Dell Streak 7 I owned. I sold the Streak and had forgotten about this great keyboard until I was going through my email's and ran across the link / activation from where I had purchased it.
Anyway long story short, the version is now up to 4.5, it's skinnable and has many free skins to choose from. Also hand writing recognition like Samsung's keyboard. You can also set your own landscape / portrait layouts as well.
There is a 15 day free trial to see if it suits you, just thought I might recommend this, my old activation key worked with the newest version, if any of you guys have used it on previous devices your license will transfer fine.
Try it out and leave your comments here.
You like it better than swype?

Nope!

I do but then again that's just me, if you look at the memory footprint it uses less than swype, has as many features and seems faster, but then again, my opinions are my own, just sharing knowledge I find.

I like the spacebar being offset to the right so i dont type.and.hit.the.period.button.all.the.time.
I've tried this as well as SwiftKey as alternatives to Swype. So far, Swype is still my #1.

+1 Swype is still best. Swift is a good alternative to a stock keyboard, but not close to Swype in my opinion.

Used this for a while on my Captivate. It was slow compared to Swype so I haven't touched it again.

I to have grown fond of Swype, so fast and fluid.

Good Free Keyboards for the Rezound?

Im having a hard time finding a decent keyboard for the Rezound. Here is the issue, I really don't like the standard HTC keyboard. The buttons are backwards as far as Im concerned.
Problem is when I try a different one, ICS keyboard from the market, swype etc they are way too small because of the Rezound screen. Also when I say too small I mean the width in addition to the height.
Ive seen a few keyboards where you can actually mod the height but not the width, which I honestly dont get. Well my primary problem is hitting the letter next to the one I actually want because the keys aren't wide enough.
Is there any keyboard out there thats basically the standard ASOP keyboard, but the same size as the HTC one, that would be perfect for me. I cant seem to find one.
Swiftkey Beta 3 is free for now. Best keyboard I've used to date.
Try A.I.type keyboard

Here's a link to it: Swiftkey 3 Beta
The link is from Droid-Life in case anyone is worried. I don't know if it is the newest version of the beta, but it's a pretty good build.

I quite like GO Keyboard
I seriously need a new keyboard too. I loved swype on the incredible. It was beast mode, I could text and type as fast as typing on my computer. I can't find a decent keyboard on this thing. I can't use swype because it breaks and can't swype no where near as fast as I could on the incredible. I tried swiftkey and didn't really like that either. I currently use the trace on the HTCkeyboard and I can't stand it either. It's no where near as accurate as swype.
Does anyone know of some swypelike keyboards that don't break on the Rezound?

Ohhh. I thought you were talking about my post. I tried swiftkey, and it's nice to use, definitely a lot better than most. But I think swype spoiled me cause I can't stand doing anything else.

Do they not break in long swipes and can you swype really fast? I have a normal sized one, that wasn't my issue with swype.

SwiftKey FLOW beta

Anybody else have the opportunity to try this new SwiftKey out?
Super cool and pretty..
Just installed and it is more lagged than SwiftKey 3 was.. Surely slower than the JB keyboard..
The thing I liked most about 3 was that it seemed real responsive...
OF course i understand it is still beta..
Okay update:
*I don't work for SwiftKey or anything Btw.
But I made SwiftKey A system app and did a reboot. Now **** is moving smooth..
Love it. Very close call with the Android 4.2 keyboard.. Love them both..
Sent from my Amaze 4G using xda app-developers app
Never had to convert it to a system app, it is smooth and fast enough for me. I'm loving this keyboard! I will for sure be purchasing when it gets an official release. I haven't used swype in a long time but this feels much better.
Sent from my Amaze
It's okay, I don't know swype is still best at what it does. All swift key needs is multiple options to pick from, it only gives you one option.

Keyboard Choices

I boifht Swiftkey on my S3 and for m u tablet. The tablet edition. I haven't set it up yet on my mew S4. Is it recommend on the S4 or use the stock keyboard? I juat can decide. I like how it auto corrects the words. Help me if you can please.
Sent from my Rooted Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 using xda premium
Personally, I use Swiftkey with Flow (Swiftkey's version of Swype) enabled. I prefer it over the stock keyboard and haven't seen any issues with it yet. I'd say it's a personal preference thing.
That's what I've been using on my tablet. I purchased both versions. It was good on the S3 so I think I'll set it up on my S4.

Tried the swiftkey trial and immediately purchased it. It's so much better than the stock Samsung keyboard for me.
