Hey, just wondering who has ghost touches on screen. I'm trying to see what the cause is and see some correlations. Please state Rom and any other info that will help.
My analysis so far:
I'm running the newts release 1 but have no experienced it with every Rom since I flashed the vm firmware. It doesn't seem to happen for a little bit after I flashed a rom. Within the developer options I found touch locations and pointer locations. I usually see one location with touch locations although two is not uncommon. If this has been solved I apologize but haven't seen a solution yet. Thanks!

I've never had this issue but I've read about it a few times, sounds like your digitizer is going bad. I did flash the VM fw.
I'm almost 100 percent sure its not the digitzer. It worked fine before the vm firmware and there have been others as well. It's almost like its a memory issue

I had the same problem with my friends thunderbolt. I unlocked and rooted it then a couple of hours later it started having ghost touches. I ended up going throught allot of crap to unroot and relock the bootloadet to find out that it was still having the same problem. I thought, no way could it be the digitizer because it worked fine before. He told me that he had a spair digitizer incase he ever dropped it a cracked the screen so I said what the hell I will give it a try. I was proven wrong because it was the digitizer.

What's weird is I had these ghost touches on gsm after first rooting and custom Rom. Couple weeks later, no more ghost scrolling or touches. :what:
Try twisting your phone, if you get touches ghost touches when your twisting it then its definitely your digitizer.

I got them right after flashing. Sprint replaced the digitizer though and I haven't had any issues. Could be a pure coincidence that it went out right when I flashed the VM firmware

Hi all,
Couldn't find a thread about this, sorry if it exists.
My EVO 3D has been experiencing what can best be described as phantom touches. I leave the phone alone with the screen on and it moves the home screens in a jittery fashion or randomly presses the screen. Approx middle, slightly to the left just below the centre of the screen and also closer to the home/menu soft keys. It's not a permanent issue, but it does go absolutely "mental" at times making the phone unusable until it settles down.
It also interferes with the lock screen, playing havoc with the pattern unlock.
Tried all the usual... factory reset etc etc but to no avail.
Has anybody else come across this?

I've had mine do that albeit, rarely. He home screen goes sporadic or the app drawer scrolling is messed up.

It used to do that for me when I had it plugged in to my car.
Video record it! Then take it to the sprint store and say that you're scared of your phone and get a new one. If it can work for my neighbor, it can work for you! âīšâ
Mine does this horribly when my phone is in cold air. My last 3d also had this issue and it was replaced when installing a new digitizer did not help.
It's getting more frequent.
I'm in the UK.. I'd have to be REALLY scared of it to go to Sprint in the US

Lol Yeah, that would be a long trip. You ever thought about rooting it and installing a new ROM?
My Atrix does that when I set it down in certain surfaces, like a mattress out pillow, or carpet, but as long as I am touching the case of the phone, it doesn't do that.

Yep, tried that too... well I went from stock to a rooted version of a more up to date stock ROM.

I took the screen protector (Martin Fields) off and was trouble free for two days. I suspect that was coincidence though as it's now worse than it was prior to that.

Mine doesn't do that but there are times when I unlock it and it automagically goes to what ever app is in the lower right side of the screen. My wifes has started doing it also. Even replacements that I have gotten have done it.
i actually just had mine swapped out for the same reason.
did it on ICS, MIUI, and warm.
I say take a chance at running the newer OTA update combo pack that Xhausx put out. It does include some sorry of touch panel firmware update I believe. It's worth a shot just for the hell of it.

Likewise. After a month of having my Evo 3D, the screen would act possessed. No matter what I flashed or did, nothing would make the slightest difference. It got so bad that I ended up returning it.
OP, return it. It's a common issue with these phones.
SAME PROBLEM! i have flashed viper, synergy, olympus, warm, and more im sure! Same problem every time ! Please let me know if anyone finds a fix without returning the phone! THANK YOU!
It is a hardware problem, changing the ROM isn't going to help.
My d1 did the same thing after a year or so. It actually still works as long as you can keep the phone at a certain temp, but as soon as it warms up from use it goes back to it.
My girlfriends started doing that today
downloaded touchscreen tester from the market and what do you know digitizer is jacked some spots show as multitouch with only one finger
ok that helps. so, do i have to actually return the phone to fix the problem? or can i get a touchscreen tester and find the problem and fix it? or is that not even worth the trouble?
Thanks for the help
Oddly I just started encountering the same issue two days ago and now can barely use this phone.
Bit of an update.
I did S-On and so far haven't had the issue reappear. Obviously since it is an intermittent problem, it's not definitely gone.
I'll give it a day or so and report back.

+1 on this.
Now I know it's not me being crazy. I've always had random apps opening up after preforming an action even though I was sure I never touched that app.
Hi,
The past few months I have an very irritating issue:
I unlock phone but can't type anything for my pin or at least a part of it. When I lock and unlock my device it often works again. This also happens while typing in WA and using the browser. It happens about everywhere. I use a screenprotector and this issue is not due to the because I had this on 3 totally different roms. Anyone has any idea?

I had this issue, and couldn't seem to find a solution besides a new digitizer. It only got progressively worse, to the point where I switched to an older phone. Flashing to stock didn't do a thing either. I guess it's pretty common for the digitizer to fail on these phones.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yeah I thought about the same. Did you eventually fixed it by replacing the digitizer?

My original Rezound i had flashed several different roms to it back and forth and started developing and issue with the vibrator in the phone. It would become sooooo weak that I couldn't even feel it anymore. I thought I messed something up internally, so i flashed it back to stock, and warrantied it. New one is worlds better and has been for many months. I've left it completely stock the whole time, and suddenly the last few weeks i've noticed the same issue. The vibrate function is getting weaker and weaker. Am I the only person experiencing this problem?

Switching the rom had nothing to do with it, sounds like you just got another defective phone.
I figured it wasn't a rom issue, just crappy that i got the same issue again with another phone. Was hoping this was something that I wasn't experiencing alone.
Time to call and see if they'll send me another!

Mine is having the same problem but I'm out of warranty by about two months. Ugh.

Has anyone else been experiencing weak or unresponsive home and back keys. My home key does not always work. Just trying to see if mine is faulty or others experience this issue.

I have the same issue and it has been pissing me off. I have read the OTA has fixed this issue for some. I am still waiting for my OTA to come through.
Screen off/screen on seems to kick it back into gear most of the time for me.
I had the same problem. Unlocked bootloader and put TrickDroid on, and this problem is gone. Not that it should be the solution, but it seems the move to the international update fixed that problem.
I also had the problem on stock AT&T ROM. Flashed ARHD and the problem is gone

I had the problem after i installed a screen protector. I cut around the buttons and now the problem it's gone.

I just installed a screen protector and noticed the buttons are a little finicky. Just dealing with it for now.

Doubt it. Sounds completely independent of software.

I flashed international Rom and it's alot better I have two ones that I use and there's s big difference between stock att and international imo

Stock ATT rom here and there are times I have to hit the home button a few times. Gonna unlock bootloader tonight and see about installing a rom.
Mine definitely require very accurate taps. I am getting used to it, but I am hoping a software update will improve the responsiveness.

Seems to be the case more with our (ATT) software. Flashing the international or one of the international ROMs seems to make it much more responsive. Hopefully our phones will get the update soon!
I loaded an international Rom and I still occasionally get buttons that don't work and I have to lock and unlock the screen.

Some say it's the screen protectors some say it's not. I did notice before I out one on it wasn't so bad. But once I out it in was constantly smashing the buttons and where the are so flipping close to the screen I would open unwanted apps. Anyway I too a straight edge and an exacto knife and cut the protector off right where the screen ends and the black capacitive area begins. Did it last night and haven't had to press anything more than once. Just a thought from a guy

Compared to my One X, neither of the buttons are precise at all, even without a screen protector on the AT&T Rom.

I agree. A screen protector shouldn't make a difference. Never did with ny One X either.

Even when I didn't have the screen protector installed it was also very finicky. It seems like you have to press down exactly on the buttons for them to register the action. Even then, one of the buttons will sometimes wig out on me while the other one will continue working. It seems like the problem resolves itself within fifteen seconds most of the time, but its annoying nonetheless.
What's funny is that I thought it was a software problem at first, but even after switching over to the newest CM nightlies it still happens every now and then.
Yea but basing that in cm10 is irrelevant
Because so much is patched and ported but agreed this thing sucks sometimes

As nice as of a device as it is the home and back button lack the touch sensitivity needed to function correctly, with the correct amount if sensitivity i'm sure most of us are used to.
I seen there was a update with the sprint variant that fixed it.
It's like when u touch them it takes 10 times to get them to respond almost acting like a phone that's 5 years old and glitchy...
Is this a known issue or an issue being looked into ?

I cut the tip of my thumb off when I worked in a kitchen so they all suck but I haven't notice anything worse than normal

common issue, but its funny as I didn't notice this until I started to see threads about this. If you have a screen protector, it will make it worse, its so bad, it happens to me everytime I use it and I don't hink T-Mobile will ever update it
