SGS2 I9100 with Ressurection Remix ICS_v2.4_AOKP-B39-4.0.4
Device was working fine, battery was low (<5%) so i connected my charger; went to sleep, woke up and tried to turn display on - couldn't ... i thought that maybe phone was battery dead when i connected it so i long-press the power button to start it up but nothing was happening.
Disconnected the charger, took out the battery, waited 20s then put it back, connected charger and tried to power on => sgs2 splash screen .... .... ... showing desktop screen w/o icons and after 5-10s device shows "Shutting down" vibrates and shuts down.
Rebooted into CWM recovery, reinstalled ROM => no change
Rebooted into CWM, wipe data/factory reset => no change
Any ideeas what is going on? is the battery malfunctioning?
Try a new battery in the first instance. If it still happens once you've done that then we can look at other causes. Also, if you feel so inclined, do a clean install of stock & see if that fixes the issue to rule out something in your current setup (rom/kernel/etc) causing the problem.
thanks, been thinking the same about trying another battery but that is something i cannot do today

So here's a peculiar incident:
I have a CDMA TP with a stock ROM and a few basic apps I gathered from these forums and others. I've had it for less than a week.
Tonite, I went to check my text messages. Suddenly, the screen went black and the phone stopped responding. After pressing the power button and fiddling with the keys, I pulled out the stylus and did a soft reset. No response. Confused by this, I tried again, but still nothing. I removed the battery, and turned the phone back on. It froze at the "Touch Pro" screen with the rom/radio/etc info at the bottom. After repeating this a few times I decided to do a hard reset. So, I turn the device on and perform the hard reset. By this point the TP is only turning on SOME TIMES, and I have to take the battery out and put it back in often just to get it to start successfully. So, I finally get the device to boot up and it starts to configure WinMo. Suddenly, while configuring, it freezes. Now I try to turn it back on, and nothing happens.
Basically the device is stuck like this, shifting between not turning on at all and turning on but freezing at the "Touch Pro" screen.
So, my question is, what the heck is going on here? Has anyone else had this problem, or does this sound familiar to anyone? Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
p.s. Yes, the battery is fully charged.

Time to take it in and get a new one.....
Same problem here phone started b not coming out of lock mode. Backlight is on but no display on screen (if i tilt the screen left and right i can see light coming from behind) did about 6 hard resets and still same problem. also power button works whenever it wants to. this phone sucks @ss, i want my mogul back. on a second note my replacement will be here on wednesday.
Touch Pro stock rom purchased back in nov when it came out
yeah, i've had the same problem, i found if i hit my phone on the back or side and then batter pull and hit the soft reset while off, not the power button to turn it back on, it comes back on with color on the screen not just blank black screen with backlight, this works mostly every time, but when it doesn't, i just hold the power button down and do battery pull and hit the power button and it works, its like its got a combo of things you have to do before it works.. weird
Boot Up
I have also had similar problems. I for some reason sometimes have to remove my SD card and boot up without it for some reason. Not all the time, but every once in a blue moon. Not too sure how that affects anything, but you may try that too.
well i started a thread here ***help*** because i kinda have the same problem.
i downloaded some cabs, nothing fancy but i had some problems with a theme i downloaded. when i went to deleted i couldnt..... to make a story short, i took it to the sprint store where they tried to do a master reset/ hard reset and it wont take it. it wont do a thing... they say some important files are missing...
the phone works but not the way it should... the time on the home screen wont show up. and some other small things...
dont know how this happened but i would like to know... im worried about new programs to the phone now. ( getting a new one)

Have you tried re flashing the ROM?
it wasnt HTC's fault for your phone's not booting...thats what happens when u try to mess with the hardware too much and you dont know what your doing
Would you want to sell???
Reboot Brick HTC process
****DOn't take battery out after hard boot***
1.just watch videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk56olMkCtU and do what they do but dont take battery out. LEAVE phone STUCK on BOOT screen. Nothign else will move or work but you want phone just like that.
2. connect usb cable to active sync. (this may not link up but leave usb connected anyhow) Do not delete phone profile.
3.use rom like Download MightyROM6_Herman.exe avail at: http://www.lilrico.com/Mighty/mightyromblog/?p=454
4 although active sync is still attatched but may not be connecting. It will connect thru usb anyway when you run the rom software. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fV2I2WAFkg4&NR=1
This worked and kept phone from cutting on and off. and restored ROM. don't know about original htc boot. but your phone will work under this rom for now and you can go from there.
hey thanks plain ole dumb, it works now.
man I thought it was over.
thanks again
samsung fascinate frimware 2.2.1 its the super freakin clean rom ebo1 for baseband and build number ....the phone just shuts off randomly and i either have to do a battery pull or reboot with the poweer and volume buttons held in originally i thought it was a hardware issue so i got a new fascinate and this one is doing the same thing someone please help me
This typically stems from not wiping data as well as cache prior to flash...
Sounds like you have a rogue app locking the phone up while it's sleeping. I would do a factory reset, then install your apps one at a time until you figure out what's causing it. Allow the phone to sit idle, and maybe even reboot between installs. Allow the phone to settle down and enter sleep between each install and then try to wake the phone after it has been idle for a minute or two.
The other way would be to try looking at logcat with your phone connected to your computer when the screen is on, then when the display turns off and the phone sleeps. Odds are, whatever is causing the problem will be the last thing displayed if logcat stops giving you output. Otherwise, it should just repeat the same thing over and over (I'd assume so anyway) when it's trying to wake up from sleep.
My friend was having a similar problem so he flashed from SC 2.9 to the Deoxed eb01, wiped all the data on his SD card, and reflashed to SC 2.9, he hasn't had that problem since.
Here is the problem...
Both when long pressing power button - and short pressing + taping on a POWER OFF button - the phone doesn't turn off It just shuts down, vibrates and then restarts. Didnt have this problem before - just noticed it today.
I use official I9100XXKE4 rom - never rooted the phone and never used any custom ROMs.
Any idea what causes the problem ?

Both when long pressing power button - YES thats how you reboot SGS.
Short press = screen off
Hold power button down OFF screen displays
You can always try factory reset and wipe data if you think you have a problem .

Just hard formated the phone using *2767*3855# method
(WARNING - THIS CODE FORMATS YOUR PHONE AND ERASES ALL DATA)
... and nothing still reboots instead of turning off.
I just long press the power button - wait for the menu to appear - the tap on a POWER OFF text - the phone informs me that this will Turn Off the phone - I tap on OK - and ... it doesn't turn off - but jus restarts.
Very strange I am on a train right now - and wanted to save sme battery for the final part of the trip - but looks like because of this problem - I am not able to turn off the device. OK - i phisically removed the battery - but it's not the solution of the problem for future I guess
Return to seller its not normal .

I know exactly what you mean. I had this issue amongst a list of others and it was really ****ing me off. After i updated to ke7 it was still the same. I have a bluteooth issue so installed Villain ROM 1.1 - That sorted the problem. The phone turns off and on like normal but still have the bluetooth issue.
I dont think you should return it until the new firmware is out
soved
Hi, I had the same problem too, the details:
1. I have never used a different ROM than the original.
2. I haven’t upgraded the original firmware.
3. When the problem happened I haven’t installed any software (recently)
4. This is not a software problem definitely
5. The problem began when I have finished charging the phone (the phone was turned off), I disconnected it from the AC Charger and it began to show the battery icon like if it was charging and a yellow triangle advertising that the charger doesn’t have the sufficient power to charge. Then I tried turning on the phone (it was really difficult to turn it on), when I finally turned it on I noticed some problems with the data network (really annoying), when I tried to turn off the phone, it begun to restart instead turning off.
6. I have been goggling since then, only one thing solved the problem is to clean the USB PHONE connector (I used a small clip to clean), there is something unclean (I can´t see, it’s something very little) yet but the problem has gone, all is normal now.
7. In a youtube video, someone has a comment that says: “I had to turn it in to the local samsung service location. They told me that it was corrosion in the USB port due to water damage. They charged me €70, and I'll pick it up tommorow.” This confirms the problem.
I am thinking that the USB connectors come with this problem, so we have to be very careful at the moment of charging the phone, maybe we should plug the charger to the phone before connecting it to the AC power.
Sorry for my english (it's not good)
freddysalazar:
first post. i rarely post, but wow, that solved it. it must be hardware related. i took a cotton cleaner(or what it is called) and cleaned it and it solved the problem. will not have the charger by my bedroom windows during snowy winter anymore. moved it to my dry livingroom
Hi everyone, if I had the chance to post this problem on the original FXP CM10' post I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be posting this right here, butttttttt....XDa doesn't allow me to reply that original post so I guess I have to post here a few time so I can go to the original post (Lemme know if I'm wrong of what I think about this of posting in Developer's section)
How I was saying, I just installed FXP 149, MB66 Extended ROM and I modified some brightness values (attenuate value from 20 (default) to 10), cus brightness was very high and I was trying to test if I can save some battery. Anyway the main problem came after when my device (Xperia Mini Pro) was USB conected to my PC cus I was transfering some music and I was charging in the meanwhile. The screen turned off after a min (like I confugured it) and then when I tried to turn it on pressing Home button it never turned on, NEVER. I had to remove battery to try restarting it and see if it was a random problem, but nothing happened; the device seeme dto start normally and then when the bootanimation ended it went black again but responding to my attempts to unluck it! Like if the device was runnning normally but with the scren turned off! Real weird stuff. Then I tried rebooting a few times more, nothing happened, tried to resintall ROM; again nothing happened. Then I tried wiping everything (factory reset, caché partition, dalvik caché) and then it turn on again and it booted normally. Now i'm trying to set the attenuate value from 20 to 12 to see if that was the problem or it was a random case of malfunction of undervolt... (cus the ROm is undervolted or the kernel, one of both. The thing is that there is undervolt to extend battery life).
Well, hope I get some support or opinnions or I don´t know
I'm newbie so please be patient with me See you!
problem with attenuate from 20 to 12 persists...only did full wipe and it's back running normally. I won't touch attenuate values again...hope it runs normally from now on
So I rooted my International Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 about 8 months ago with CWM and started running CM 13 on it. Went smooth till about a few days ago, when I was taking some pictures using CamScanner and my phone just turns off. No message, nothing. Just goes blank instantly. Since then, it's stuck in a bootloop whenever I turn it on. I can get into both download mode and recovery currently. No nandroid backup (Extremely stupid of me, I know). And for some reason, my PC doesn't recognize my phone both in recovery and in Odin/Download mode. Thinking that it might be a bug in the ROM, I did a factory reset and flashed CM14.
PS : Couple of bits of info, dunno whether relevant, but anyway :
1. Very weak battery - Percentage fluctuates wildly.
2. I've been running Xposed for quite a while now, however, I had just installed Greenify and set most apps to force hibernate.
3. I've already wiped the cache and Dalvik cache.
4. I already had the drivers installed on my PC; I regularly used to connect my phone to it.
5.I had USB Debugging enabled when the phone went off.
6. A couple of times after the phone went off, I was able to switch it on if the charger was connected, but switched off immediately when I disconnected the charger; it was like a pc going off when you cut off the power supply - no message, nothing at all - just went blank.
7. Dunno why, but my phone refuses to charge unless I use a particular cable and hold it at a particular angle.
I've been trying to find a solution for this for the last one week, but this seems to be a unique case. Please help!
Issue resolved. Turns out, it was a battery issue
