[Q] Hisense T92 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear all
I have a Hisense T92 acquired in China. Now back in UK I would like to flash it to a rom which doesn't have chinese characters in half the apps on it and will work here.
But there seems to be very little information about this device out there (in English anyway).
The 'About phone' page says:
Model: HS-T92
Android version: 2.2.2
Baseband version: TTD_CP_01.06.053_P8:TTD_TVRTD_MSA_1.08.046_P2
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
Build version: T-92-eng 2.2.2 FRG83G eng.202011127.195056
Hardware version: V2.00
Software version: T536.6.01.03.00
Release date: Tue Dec 27 20:03:24 CST 2011
It has a 4" screen and I believe a Marvell 800mhz processor and 512 Mb + 512 Mb of ram (whatever that means).
I have managed to get the USB driver for it, and it is rooted (I ran unlockroot which reported it was rooted already, but I rooted it again for good measure).
One thing which seems unusual about this phone is it has an extendable antenna like for FM radio, but I didn't find an app in it which seems to use it.
Suggestions?
Thanks
Richard

Hisense T92
Hey richardmh
I recently bought the same kind of phone although I would say that it has applications that work well with the aerial. I have an application called mobile TV that works with the aerial. However I have noted that once this application is on the internet too is. Therefore I don't whether it is provided online or not. I had problems, I still have problems with connecting it to my laptop, I guess it's the usb driver thing that I don't seem to get. Is it possible you can tell me where to get it?
All in all I would think the best thing is to totally format the phone and reinstall the software again, is it what you are calling "flashing?". If you are successful please post the steps you used so that you can help me too. And you never know, if you install a radio or tv application that needs the aerial, it might actually work. By the way I initially thought it was a light pen since typing on this phone is not an easy thing to do.
Thanks
Kimlotte

I didn't try the tv apps, do they work with digital tv? We don't have analogue in UK any more.
The USB driver I found on a Chinese website (with help from Google translate) I can't remember where, but it is attached to this post. If it is too big or something tell me and I can make alternative arrangements for you to get it. It worked for me, but I guess the usual cautions about downloading anything from China apply....
I agree, best thing is to wipe the phone and start again. However.... I have done this to other phones but I am not an android expert and have always followed exact instructions I found somewhere online and it worked.... But if you don't know what you are doing it appears it is quite easy to convert your nice phone into a useless brick.
Trouble is - I didn't find any instructions how to do it to this phone yet. If you find something, please let me know.
Regards
Richard

[Q] Anyone know an appropriate rooting guide for GBT6?

So I bought this quirky tablet not realizing how quirky it really is. Problem is that no one seems to even own of the Gardner GoTab 6 Inch, much less heard of it. Googled gotab root guides and pretty much got nothing. Googled 4.0.4 guides, xda question came up and the guy was told to check the firmware version in settings and I don't have firmware info displayed. Its a sucky tablet much like I expected but I've bought plenty o apps on the playstore requiring root. From basically a few performance boosters and other system edits.
I know a gotab specific root guide is out of the question, however I'm hoping someone here has an appropriate guide suggestion for generic 4.0.4.
Here is the info in my about settings exacta:
Model Number: GOTAB
Android Version: 4.0.4

Anyone in this timezone have suggestions?
I recently discovered I can get to the recovery mode from my settings
I know someone knows... its just a matter of being on the front 2 pages at the same time they're browsing.
Anyways recov menu says its system recovery <3e> if that helps.
Has option to update from external storage, wipe data and cache, and apply update from cache.
How did you get into recovery on the device - Vol + or - with power doesnt help
This method is working fine for the spanish clone :

Archos 70b Cobalt 4.2.2 dev/root

I bought two of these new in a black friday sale on 29th nov, and have been playing with it these past few days. i can't find much information apart from the archos website, which doesn't say much. how do i figure out whether this is a gen8, gen9, or gen10 device? the firmware image provided by archos support is dated a year+ older than what i have on my tablet. so, i am a bit reluctant to trash it.
to do:
- stock backup [found stock rom, see post #7]
- custom recovery [???]
- root [solved] see post #4
the above 3 are what i need to figure out, and i will update my findings here. hopefully, we might gather a few more people with this (or similar) device, and pool some thoughts together.
archos official specs page, with links to faq, manual, etc.
http://archos.com/gb/products/tablets/cobalt/archos_70bcobalt/specs.html
firmware update available from archos support: ARCHOS 70 Cobalt OS v 20131025.184318
is this the correct one? seems to be a year older than what's on my device.
Settings -> About tablet:
Model number: Archos 70b Cobalt
Android version: 4.2.2
Kernel version: 3.0.36+ Wed Oct 15 19:54:02 CST 2014
Build number: V1.0.8..JDQ39.201400110.105106
Internal Storage: 8g advertised
Total space: 6.21g
is 1g+ is lost in some overheads?
debugging is hidden.
click 7x on "Build number" in Settings -> About tablet
this gives a new option called "{ } Developer options" in Settings
now we can turn this on, and enable usb debugging, etc.
edit: just needed to update adb. i can adb to this device now
root success!
i've finally managed to root this device!
i installed iRoot apk from http://mgyun.com/m/en, which correctly detected and rooted my device successfully. it didn't install on first attempt, but installed fine on the second try. thanks to those guys.
now that i got root i've started hacking this tablet.
battery drain is very noticeable! i'll probably remove most of the gapps bloatwares.. the older versions were so well behaved!
but first i need to know how to backup/restore the stock rom, just in case!

could you upload IRoot apk? I've tried multiple times (try again option) with the current version, but it failed to root my device.
I have rooted my 7ob cobalt but now want to "un-root" it. Is that possible?!

Unknown soft bricked MTK8382 7 inch tablet. I need help resuscitate it.

I found this bricked tablet, it's a generic chinese 7 inch tablet, it has the MTK8382 processor, single SIM, but I can't figure out anything else about it. Is there any kind of universal rom for these things? I tried to install some roms I found online for models with a similar shape but I ended up bricking it, now it just display lines on the display or a white screen when I turn it on, nothing else works. Should I just throw it away?
It's this generic model that can be found on alibaba if you want to buy in bulk and start your awful tablet company: http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/MTK8382-7-inch-alps-tablet-pc_60273334448.html
I managed to resuscitate it using a rom meant for a device called IKON 7 Tablet, also known as Royqueen MR706. I had flashed at least 20 roms for similar devices before I found this one. It works 100%, even the camera and the FM radio, so it must mean it's a clone of a clone of a clone with the same source hardware from the same crappy chinese factory. This rom is pretty decent too, moderately fast and only has a few crappy games preinstalled, no malware or weird stuff. It even comes with the google apps (still not giving it my google account), flash player, and office suite.
This is the info from MTK Droid Tools. Any other rom I can get for this device to make it a bit more useful?
Also, it seems like I lost the original IMEI of this device. Is there any way to recover it or give it a working IMEI?
I have the same tablet too!

Hi! I have the same tablet and in my case this ROM not worked.
My tablet is: Mediatek MT8312v. Was bricked, and I tried flash with ROM royqueen MR706D by rp_yonex (maybe you saw it out there) but not revived correctly... showed a IKON logo when it start but the display and touch function failed, the screen is misaligned or is seen as half, i don´t know how say, just not functioned correctly.
But i think that i'm not very away from solution.
Even though the screen does not work very well, I could get this data in the "settings/ about tablet" :
Model number: IK-TPC783
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband version: MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V18, 2013/11/29 20:10
Buil number: MT83x2_MR706_MR7063L1C2W1.2014031418
Custom build version: 1.19_20140125
Hardware info: MT8312
Please help!
I'm having an issue with a VERY similar device... It's an MR706, with zero markings indicating brand/manufacturer... The motherboard appears to be model K20-MB-V1.0 and there's a chip (not sure WHICH chip) with a brand called FORESEE on it. Anyway - I attempted to update the firmware using that royqueen scatter, and now the thing won't boot at all. Held the reset button, held all buttons, plugged in (it was at 96% battery before I flashed it) - nothing. Wondering if it's totally bricked or if there's some magic that someone can teach me...

You must be sure the exact model to the chip (the big one usually). In my case it's "MediaTek ARM MT8312v". You can search a compatible ROM to flash with the SP Flash Tools.
Or check if this help (mytabletguru.com/how-to-find-chinese-tablet-firmware)

While I'm a fairly seasoned technician, I'll fully/freely admit to this being the first Android tablet I've taken apart. Here's a picture of the innards - help? The only chip with writing/markings is on the top-left - and there's nothing with MediaTek, ARM, or MT - though there is a number that's been popping up in my searches (8382)...

PLEASE HELP ME
I just noticed these new posts in my thread. Unfortunately I'm not able to help any of you because I literally fixed mine via trial and error. Like I said I kept flashing rom after rom until one worked. I bricked it in several ways before getting the right rom, it had all kinds of issues from not booting at all, showing a boot logo and then bootlooping, showing lines on the screen, and so on. I found it by googling for devices with similar hardware.
But honestly, it wasn't worth it to fix this p.o.s.
If you have a similar device you're better off getting rid of it and buying a new one.

Quite nice fake iPhone 6s with a crappy ROM

My stepdad got scammed (he sadly doesnt know too much about gadgets) and bought a fake Iphone 6s. It was really cheap (around 100 bucks) so not a big deal and it looks like a quite good phone for the price. The build quality is not that bad and it works pretty well. The cameras are like VGA but other than that (and the fingerprint sensor) it works pretty well.
The only real problem is the ROM. It's what you would expect from a good fake iOS. It really looks and works like one but here and there you find the android inside . I could use it for browsing and some basic stuff, but I'm quite limited by it. There are lots of addware that I cannot uninstal, therefore i cannot install other apps becouse theres not enough space on the phone. The "iPhone-ified" apps like Safari (that i think is a modified firefox ) or the App store loking Play store do kind of work but they are really bad. Long story short I'd love to make use of this thing and do some modding. Installing a better rom in the best case. I'd appreciate anything that could help me make something usefull out of this thing.
I'm not much of a modder so I'll try to provide as many info about the phone as i can.
Opened the "Factory Mode" by holding down the power and vol- button and after some translation from chinese I found the device info:
BB Chip: MT6589
MS Board.: Apple
Modem Ver.: MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V15, 2014/09/16 14:20
Build Time: 2015 04 07 14:04:64 CST

In "Factory Mode" there's some hardware tests and a clear flash button. That's it.
With power and vol+ button I got into recovery that looks even better than it looked on my HTC OneX. It shows these:
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from sdcard
apply update from sdcard2
apply update from cache
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
backup user data
restore user data

I'd post some pictures and screenshots but since it's my first time here, I cant.
Anyway, I hope you guys know some tricks I could do with this thing. Thanks in advance!

Well well it looks like you have now entered the Mediatek (MTK) devices territory. How can I tell? From the factory info you provided you have an MT6589 device which is usually how these chips are branded. Having a MTK device means now some things will be different (backing up,flashing) but that's no problem as there are a lot of seasoned MTK modders and developers out there who can assist you.
If you would like to get a new ROM then the first thing you or anyone for that matter should do when planning to mod their phone is to make a backup. To do that you would need to first install the correct drivers for your phone and download a few other programs (see below).
MTK Preloader drivers for Win 7- https://thebroodle.com/microsoft/wi...tk65xx-preloader-usb-vcom-drivers-in-windows/
MTK Preloader drivers for Win 10- http://laurentiumihet.ro/windows-10...-for-32-64-bit-drivers-installation-tutorial/
How to create a scatter file- https://androidmtk.com/create-scatter-file-for-mtk-devices
How to make a backup of your phone/ROM- https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-526.html
All you have to do now that you're new (I'm assuming) to MTK devices is to read everything before proceeding.
P.S. Sorry if my response wasn't detailed explaining some stuff...
