Hi There!
Can I completely reset wireless on a GS3 (as opposed to a factory reset). I am having no end of Wireless Issues and the other GS3 I have is working fine so I know it's not the WAP.
Cheers
Is it just one wap? If so you could forget the network with long press.

I'm running the latest ota (verizon), lost root and haven't restored it. My problem is the constantly dropping wifi. It's always done it, but now it's forgetting my password every couple of days. Anybody else or anybody know if a solution?

I had same issues with the password after flashing the ICS GSM T-Mobile leak .it reminded me that i had same problems with my hd2 and solved it by seting my AP encyption from TKIP to AES. Still have rare data drops but no more password loss.
I've only ran into this issue once or twice using Wifi buddy beta and Juice defender. Uninstalled the latter and seems to work fine. But I'm also on BW ICS.

I'm having the same problem. I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with Tier 2 tech support with no solution. He said he would open a ticket in my name. The problem is Verizon will say this is a Motorola problem and respectfully no offer that much help.
Searching around the Verizon forums I found this:
If your Droid's network traffic stalls/freezes while you are on wifi, check your wireless router for the WMM (Wi-Fi Multimedia) option. Disable it and see if that fixes your problem. On my router it was under the QoS Setup (Quality of Service) tab. Netgear WNDR3700. My wifi is very stable now that I've turned that off.

I'll try changing a few settings on my router but I really think this is a Motorola problem.

I think it is too. Backup assistant has never worked on mine and Verizon opened a ticket, closed it two weeks later without ever resolving the problem.

Try turning wifi, then manually deleting the saved profile for your wifi network(s).
Oh, and [email protected]#$ Backup Assistant. That is all. :-D

You are right about that, i'm just lazy and didn't want to manually input the contacts since I never added them to google.

My WiFi issue was fixed by switching to the Eclipse ROM and haven't had an issue at all. If you're rooted, give that a go.
My phone doesn't even detect my neighbours connection.
My xperia x10 could detect my entire street
Did anyone solve this problem yet. I should have to put a rom on my phone just to fix this issue. Its been twice today that I have lost my home wifi connection. I am on att uverse and I dont have the password memorized. Any help would be appreciated.
The solution that I found is to switch between channels...
Although again wifi strength is much poorer than my previous 3 year old phone..

Hey guys not sure if this is the right area for this question. So I just got my new HTC DNA phone and it won't connect via my wireless N network, it will talk on G though. I originally had my WiFi set only to transmit on N, but now I have to leave it set for mixed mode. I have told it to forget my network and set it up several times. Nothing will get it to talk on N. I even tried old B and it would talk there.
My router is a Linksys by Cisco WRT310N v1 with Firmware Version: v1.0.10 (newest). I have even tried to power it off and back on again, no change. I even tried to reboot my phone several times in the process too.
For a bit yesterday when messing with this I showed connected to WiFi and to 4G at the same time.
Thoughts?
Updates:
- SSD is broadcast, otherwise my none of my phone's see the network.
- Tried a factory reset, no change.
- Router only broadcasts on 2.4GHz freq.
I can connect to my 'N' at home no issues. I am broadcasting the SSID, not sure if it works with it hidden. I had some issues with that on a prior device / custom ROM.

Good to hear that yours works! I am also broadcasting the SSID, as I also had issues with my Incredible and Incredible 2 not connecting. Also when I am transmitting just N, my phone does see it but just won't connect.
I can connect to my N at home too. Can connect on both the 2.4 and 5GHz as well.

Thanks for the info. It seems my router only broadcasts on the 2.4GHz freq, don't see anyway to set it to 5GHz.
I also just did a factory reset to see if that makes any difference, which it does not. I'm going to swing by a Verizon store today and see what they can do about swapping my phone out with another new one. If they can't or won't I'll just stick with the phone, as I don't want to play the refurbished game again.

Did you check if your dba could connect to another router ? It could just be some type of incopatibility issue with the DNA and your specific router. Also double check the routers firmware is up to date

So far I haven't had the chance to get to another router. I'm going over to my in-laws later today, so I'll give it a shot there. So if it works, then I know it's my router, which is only about 2-3 years old, but hey ya never know...
I checked the router firmware yesterday, it's the newest one out there for it.
Not sure if the Verizon store has the capabilities to reflash phone firmware, but I'm going to ask them when I stop by later today.
So when I tested my phone at my in-laws with their WiFi it connected to their Wireless N network. So turns out my phone doesn't like my router's Wireless N setup. I'll try a factory reset on my router to see if that makes any difference.
Hi all,
I have an AT&T HOX+ rooted running a stock ROM. All of a sudden the last few days my phone will connect to both my home networks (2.4 and 5GHz) but won't actually connect to the internet. This is incredibly odd. It was working fine until a few days ago.
Based on a search around the internet, I tried setting up a static IP address to no avail. Any ideas?
Not enough info given... reset your router and phone, failing that reset settings back to stock or call your isp/router oem for support.

I've tried all that. The issue is clearly not the router, since every other device, WiFi or Wired in my house is working fine. The issue is clearly with the phone.
Ever since about May when Verizon pushed an update out, my WiFi functionality has gone completely down the ****ter. I will describe my symptoms to you.
If I connect to a known WiFi network, I can connect to it if I am in the same room. However, the moment I step into a different room I loose my WiFi icon on the status bar and if you go into your WiFi settings it will say "Authentication error". When you tap it to reconnect to it, sometimes it will bring up the password entry page and presume to say "Authentication error", sometimes it will do nothing.
The moment you walk back into the same room again, though, you have to open the WiFi settings but once you do it will connect back and say so at the bottom of the screen.
I have read that lots of people experience this only after a certain Verizon update, like me. I have gone as far as to load the original factory .tar file that Verizon first used, before any OTA updates applied.
There are numerous accounts of this problem relating to my specific model, multiple responses from Verizon reps on the Verizon forums, Samsung responses on there forums, and I have still not seen any kind of actual fix.
Is there some sort of remedy for this? I want to sell this phone soon, but not in this condition.

I also have a weird issue. I can't connect to any 2.4GHz networks at all. I have no problems connecting to 5GHz networks though.

It's crazy man. When did it start for you?

I just noticed a few weeks ago when I tried connecting to someone's wifi and it just wouldn't. I did notice when I first got my phone that the speed on my 2.4GHz network on the phone was very slow, so I just used my 5GHz network. But now it won't even connect to any 2.4GHz networks at all. It sees the networks but just won't connect. It is a verizon refurbished so probably gonna have to unroot, return to stock, call and get another refurbished unit. Just didn't want to go through the hassle of there was a fix for it.

It's a known issue with the Note 2. I restored my phone back to stock, unrooted, did a factory reset, and still had the issue. So I called verizon and they said it's a known issue that lots of people have called in about. They are sending me a replacement, which I should receive tomorrow. I'd recommend doing the same.
I had to do the same just yesterday, so my replacement should get here in two days.

Got my replacement today and connected no problem!

Man you guys are lucky. I'm wondering if it's a hardware issue.... Maybe my wireless is just ****ed. It really sucks because my warranty is expired and it didn't happen until after that...

You might be able to add the monthly warranty and swap it out

Total Equipment Protection I think it's called. Like $10 a month or so

I just noticed this issue recently. My phone refuses to connect to any 2.4GHz wifi networks. I've tried to connect to several different networks with different security settings and no luck at all. It sees the networks but refuses to connect. It will however connect to any 5GHz networks flawlessly! My phone is a verizon refurbished unit. I did notice when I first got it that the speeds on the 2.4GHz networks were very slow, so I just used the 5GHz network from there on. I am currently running jellybeans 22, tried connecting to a 2.4GHz network on a clean install of Nephilim.Note2.ROM.v3.5-R3Ds today and still no luck!

Yeah looks like I have to call verizon. Restoring to stock right now.
