Wifi not working - HTC One X+

Hi all,
I have an AT&T HOX+ rooted running a stock ROM. All of a sudden the last few days my phone will connect to both my home networks (2.4 and 5GHz) but won't actually connect to the internet. This is incredibly odd. It was working fine until a few days ago.
Based on a search around the internet, I tried setting up a static IP address to no avail. Any ideas?

Not enough info given... reset your router and phone, failing that reset settings back to stock or call your isp/router oem for support.

I've tried all that. The issue is clearly not the router, since every other device, WiFi or Wired in my house is working fine. The issue is clearly with the phone.

[Q] Getting logged out of Google Talk constantly?

My wife's phone has had this issue on both UnNamed (gingerbread) and now ShoStock (ICS).
Her phone will randomly disconnect from Google Talk. I'll pick it up after it has been in standby for 10-20 (or longer) minutes, I'll open gTalk, and she will be logged out. After a few seconds it logs her back in.
The annoying thing, is that when this happens, push email to her native Gmail app seems to suspend until she is logged back into gTalk. So, it seems that she is being disconnected from all google services when the phone goes to sleep.
Strangely, her work Exchange emails continue to come in using Touchdown, so she definitely still has a data connection. It just seems that her connection to google services (namely, gTalk and Gmail app) get interrupted.
Anybody seen anything similar or know a fix? EXACTLY the same thing happens to me on my HTC One X. I never had these problems with a Droid Eris, Droid Incredible, or Xperia Ray.
Thanks.
Edited to add: Wifi sleep policy is set to "always on," so wifi never goes off. But this does not happen when she is on wifi. Only happens when connected to AT&T (but we have a very strong signal at our house, so I do not think the connection is dropping -- plus, it happens everywhere, not just at home).
is her wifi set to disable when the screen is off? maybe its disconnecting when it switches data connections and never turns back on.

maybe try a new modem? I'm just fishing for solutions, here.
U don't have any apps on the phone to conserve data or power , maybe turn things off automatically for u? If not, I would try clearing cache and flashing a new modem as stated above

nope no power management apps or anything like that. Already tried clearing cache and such. Might try a new modem this weekend.

Struggling with this at the moment! Tried stacks of different modems, but no change!
Found something interesting, tho. When I use one of my APNs (Optus) the issue is present, but when i change over to a subnetwork of theirs (Virgin Mobile) the issue is gone!
Any ideas?

I'm not too sure what i'm supposed to do with that link, since it is for AT&T, and I live in Australia with the Optus network!

Oh. Well then. Lol. Didn't realize. Well, maybe try Googling different APN settings for ur carrier? Sorry not too familiar with this subject, I've never traveled abroad with my mobile.

I'm having the exact same issue, although it's on a Samsung Galaxy S (The First), on the Optus network in Australia, both stock before rooting the phone and then after rooting and reflashing to ICSSGS. I spent a few hours on the phone with their tech guys and they decided it was a handset issue, not a network problem. I don't think they actually understood the issue, so take that with a grain of salt..
Guess it doesn't help this thread at all except identify another affected user

Me too :/ galaxy s2 on CheckRom. Optus Network. Had this phone for a year now never had this problem, until the last couple of days.Did not change anything on my phone in those days.. Any fixes out there? Considering Gtalk is really important for me.
The issue goes away while on WIFI
So without even realising it until now, i've just found out that it's not only the google services that are being connected, but my data connection entirely!

Wifi will not connect on Wireless N

Hey guys not sure if this is the right area for this question. So I just got my new HTC DNA phone and it won't connect via my wireless N network, it will talk on G though. I originally had my WiFi set only to transmit on N, but now I have to leave it set for mixed mode. I have told it to forget my network and set it up several times. Nothing will get it to talk on N. I even tried old B and it would talk there.
My router is a Linksys by Cisco WRT310N v1 with Firmware Version: v1.0.10 (newest). I have even tried to power it off and back on again, no change. I even tried to reboot my phone several times in the process too.
For a bit yesterday when messing with this I showed connected to WiFi and to 4G at the same time.
Thoughts?
Updates:
- SSD is broadcast, otherwise my none of my phone's see the network.
- Tried a factory reset, no change.
- Router only broadcasts on 2.4GHz freq.
I can connect to my 'N' at home no issues. I am broadcasting the SSID, not sure if it works with it hidden. I had some issues with that on a prior device / custom ROM.

Good to hear that yours works! I am also broadcasting the SSID, as I also had issues with my Incredible and Incredible 2 not connecting. Also when I am transmitting just N, my phone does see it but just won't connect.
I can connect to my N at home too. Can connect on both the 2.4 and 5GHz as well.

Thanks for the info. It seems my router only broadcasts on the 2.4GHz freq, don't see anyway to set it to 5GHz.
I also just did a factory reset to see if that makes any difference, which it does not. I'm going to swing by a Verizon store today and see what they can do about swapping my phone out with another new one. If they can't or won't I'll just stick with the phone, as I don't want to play the refurbished game again.

Did you check if your dba could connect to another router ? It could just be some type of incopatibility issue with the DNA and your specific router. Also double check the routers firmware is up to date

So far I haven't had the chance to get to another router. I'm going over to my in-laws later today, so I'll give it a shot there. So if it works, then I know it's my router, which is only about 2-3 years old, but hey ya never know...
I checked the router firmware yesterday, it's the newest one out there for it.
Not sure if the Verizon store has the capabilities to reflash phone firmware, but I'm going to ask them when I stop by later today.
So when I tested my phone at my in-laws with their WiFi it connected to their Wireless N network. So turns out my phone doesn't like my router's Wireless N setup. I'll try a factory reset on my router to see if that makes any difference.

WiFi not staying connected

Well while writing this post my phone had its first crash but besides that I noticed while trying to run my cable providers brighthouse app my phone doesn't stay connected to WiFi. I'm only rooted an I only notices this one since I'm always on data

Read thru the other WiFi issue thread seems like att hotspot might be the problem. I am going to BB tomorrow to claim my Bluetooth headset might just switch it there while I'm at it

Do you have "avoid poor WiFi connections" and "connection priority mode enabled"? If so, un-check them. It works for me.
I actually just disabled the att WiFi thru the app I guess it puts it I. Sleep mode. I am not too worried looking to ROM out soon just wanted to get familiar with LG. Since this is my first. Just got a ill worried that the phone froze earlier while trying to write post.

not sure if this is the same as your issue, but some of us have noticed that the LGOG doesn't seem to toggle between networks (ie: from LTE to wifi or vise versa). toggling airplane mode or rebooting seems to correct it.

Read the thread but doesn't seem to be the same problem I'm experiencing. I was always use to having my phone auto connect to my wifi whenever i got home but that doesnt seem the case with the OG.

Sounds similar to my experience. I'll pick up the phone from time to time and notice that WIFI icon is off and it's on 4G. When I go to the Networks menu it shows my router but says "poor signal". Oh really? it's 18 inches away and every other wireless device stays connected rock solid. I've tried toggling Wireless off/on and Airplane mode off/on and the only way to get it to reconnect is a full reboot. I'm hoping this new release fixes it - if not, it's going back to ATT.

Rooted? Unlocked? ROM or kernel changed?
I just started having this same issue about a week ago not long after I flashed theBase 7.3, and kernelSk8 2.2.
I had this exact issue until I read somewhere on here about using the att smart WiFi app. It connects instantly when get home, haven't had a problem since.

I'm at a loss

I switched over to T-Mobile last week. Picked up an HTC One and absolutely love the phone. Except for one thing. No matter what I do, I cannot get any device to connect to it's hot spot. I am on my second phone and this phone has the same issue. I also just got off the phone with T-Mobile support and was told I was speaking with their highest level of Tech Support. Ultimately the guy said you have already trouble shooted everything I would have you do so I'm not sure what else to do.
Here is exactly what is happening. I get one of two errors.
Error 1 - Authentication Error
Error 2 - Signal is too weak to connect to network. However, my phone is testing at 9mbps on speedtest
The other odd thing is that I just tried to dload a 28mb app and it took 47min via the play store even though I tested at 9mbps.
Any suggestions?
I have now tried to connect 5 devices, unsuccessfully.

It would be helpful to know what kind of troubleshooting you've already worked through. Without knowing that, I'll suggest the first thing that comes to mind.
For the authentication error, have you tried completely clearing and re-typing the SSID and WPA key in the One's Hotspot Config screen? Perhaps there's an extra space or something at the end of the network name or password that isn't visible. I've done that myself a time or two. Then delete the network association on the other devices and try to re-join them.
As for the 9mb download speed, that's actually pretty good for HSPA, though a bit slow for LTE. I usually get 7-9mbps on HSPA and about 20-25mbps on LTE.
I'm In a "4G" market, not LTE so that's why the speeds are as they are. And yes, I have renamed the network several times. I've tried it on WPA2, WPA, WEP and also no security. I've changed the password too.
I also tried to connect via bluetooth. I was really surprised that the T-Mobile "highest level of support had no further suggestions".

In the Hotspot settings, at the bottom there's a Manage Users, tap on it and check if you have Allowed Users Only selected.
Yes I have done that... I've tried it both ways. I've even changed the password and the name of the network. I have also noticed that my notification bar icon will turn pink and say "connected" even though the other device is not connected.

What does the data plan say you have used so far?
Issue resolved... Not sure which one worked but I did 2 things. First I "reset" the hotshot app. Second I used my IMEI as my password and suddenly it works flawlessly.

WiFi and data connection not working properly

Hey guys
I've had my Z2 for two months and I have a problem with the WiFi not connecting properly. The connection is established, but there's just no Internet. I have to turn on and off flight mode, and then it works for a couple of hours.
When I leave the house the phone should use the data connection to connect to the Web. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Again I have to turn on and off flight mode. Or maybe even restart the phone.
The issue was there when I was on stock rom, so I rooted and flashed Monxdified rom. But the issue is still there.
Have any of you experienced this problem or know how to fix it?

I thought so too, so I changed my router settings, but it didn't change a damn thing. And when connecting to other networks, at friends or family, I still get no connection, although the phone tells me everything is fine.
I'll be flashing eXistenZ Ultimate 2.0.0 later, and hope that it will make it better.

Well, that didn't go as planned. I'm now stuck at the SONY logo. Crap.
I got the rom flashed, and I haven't had any problems for almost 24 hours.
Maybe it was a kernel-issue?
