[Q] Can I get the Lockscreen PIN without the OK button?

Is it possible for the lockscreen Pin to unlock my device automatically? Without the need for me to press okay?
My password is about 5 numbers long, and I hate pressing those, then pressing the OK button. Mainly because I can press those 5 buttons without looking at the screen, but I have to look to find the OK button.
IOS has it set like this (but only allows 4 numbers). Is there a way we can have something similar?
I believe Cyanogen mod has this as well :S
Thanks
I think widgetlocker has this option.

Just curious, what are you doing AFTER you unlock your phone, that you do not have to look at it? In other words, why is it a big deal that you have to glance at the screen to touch the "OK" button, when right after touching "OK", you'll most likely be looking at the screen anyway? I could understand if you were unlocking it to do something that didn't require you to look at the screen, but at the moment I can't think of anything that would accomodate that.

It's mainly that I'm in class, and I dont want to look down that often. So I can pretty much unlock it without looking, then just quickly text. Then look back up. I dont want to look down, wait for it to unlock, then text... It's a matter of seconds, but I hate getting caught

I've noticed with some lockscreen apps, you can simply press home or the back key to get out of them. Is this also the case with widgetlocker? Or is it secure?
And does it keep the sense lockscreen UI? or does it change it

From Android to Mango. Am I missing something?

I've been using Android for 2 years and just bought my Mango Titan past week. Having read many positive reviews, I had high hopes.
There are things that I had expected a normal user would expect to have. Things that really disappoints (or is there any app to solve these?):
1.No smart dialing. I found apps on Market to complement that but then those apps does smart dialing and nothing more. To see phone history, missed calls etc, I have to go back to the original phone app. Kind of strange to put two phone app tiles on main screen.
2. How to turn off notification sound at night automatically? My phone charges on my night desk and keeps beeping when emails come in in the the middle of the night. In Android we have the SoundManager app that can set daily time zones to turn on/off various rings/notifications.
3. Pressing on the live tiles will launch a program (say Facebook app). That's fine, but having pressed the Win button to go back to main screen and launch the same app again seems to launch the program from scratch (i.e. slow). It's very often that we hop among a few apps to do things. Long press on the "back" button could bring things back much more quickly.
4. Calendar. The calendar is the weakest thing I've used in the past few years (WM6, Android 1.5-2.3, iOS) It's basically useless in the month-view as I cannot read anything on it and there is no week-week. Calens\dar tile seems to only show tomorrow's events and nothing beyond een when the tile has lots of space left to show more stuff.
5. On-line status. Is there any way I don't sync status with all accounts? Right now when I say I'm on-line for MSN chat, it'll also show me on-line in Facebook...
6. No folder to aggregate various tiles/apps. My tile and app list is already growing so long that I find it cumbersome to scroll through it.
7. Hand writing Chinese recognition is so slow. Basically the stroke lags.
8. WhatsApp problem. Very often it says I have received new msg and the tile says so too. Yet when I go inside, nothing. May be this is WhatsApp only?
Am I the only one that is disappointed? Sadly the list seems to be growing...

Ok there is multitasking in WP 7.5 instead pressing back button each time U leave a app press the home button the middle one and then if you have more then one app that U opened up U can press and hold the back button the left one and it brings up all current running apps and it will instanly pick up where U left of.

Also when U have enoug apps on ur phone in the scrol menu will apear letters a b c on so forth where all Apps are listed when U press on the letter a for exsample a checker board comes up where U select letters a to z for fast app access also U can just do voice search. Also folders are available when you root your phone. It is a homebrew app.

[Feature request] Pie usability enhancements

In 4.3 pie implementation user needs swipe precise from the center of one side to activate pie. On large screen this hamer usability because user needs to make thumb gimnastick to do that. Please add possibility to just swype from side to activate pie. It's much faster that way.
+1 And Also having the option to activate the controls in the bottom or in the sides at the same time.

well it is that or, long press on the switch apps button pops up a menu, a vertical list of rows of the most recently used apps, and you just swipe up or down to select the one that you want to multitask too. That would be faster.
thanks for implementing this

I tried it, and initially really liked the ability for it to translate my very, very crappy hand writing. I like the function of being able to write with the samsung keyboard/pen, but i hate the samsung autocorrect... the google keyboard in my opinion is far superior... correction wise.
But I did not want to jump to the top of the screen and have to pull down the notification bar, and then change my default keyboard every time i wanted to toggle back and forth. (The samsung keyboard is even worse... you have the pen out, and then the pen input pops out, and the only way to switch is to put the pen away and re-select the text box)
The quick way to toggle back and for with the Google keyboard and the handwriting is to press the "globe" looking icon next to the spacebar. Holding the space bar lets you pop back to the samy keyboard....but then you have to go the long way to change back . I might learn to love it.

To prove how good it is at detecting handwitting and autocorrections, this entire post has been written by pen and with no backspaces or edits. Any errors are from google and were not fixed. It looks to me like it has picked up everyword I have written without any issues,
I have purposly started to wo itefaster and pay less attention to the Quality of my handmitting and it doesn't seem to matter to the appa Not too bad, I would say much better than the samsung keyboard.
verdict.... Winner
The only issue I see is the emoji detection... I have no idea what to write to get the various emojito come up...And there is no guide that I kom of,

Direct Pen Input in Text Fields with Gboard?

Hi guys!
Background: I've been using a Sony Xperia z4 for a few years now for my job. I do a lot of public speaking - and Polaris Office deals with Word documents extremely well. The Xperia died unexpectedly, and I grabbed a Tab s3 - in good part because it was in stock locally, and I needed it for the next day. HOWEVER, I was also looking forward to using the pen to do some last minute editing in Polaris or sending some emails in Gmail. On purchase, the device immediately upgraded to Oreo. (Good ... I guess?)
Problem: As it turns out, I can only use direct pen input in most text fields if I use Samsung's own keyboard. If I switch to Gboard (which I vastly prefer), direct input works in certain fields (like Chrome URLs) - but it doesn't activate in the places I'd like to use it most. Like, when I'd like to edit the body of text in Polaris Office. This is SUPER annoying - makes the pen basically useless.
As best I can tell, I guy asked a similar question in this forum back in September, but didn't get any responses. Do you guys have any insight here?
Work-around
Hey mikesusangray,
Funny enough, I actually ran into the same problem as you since I too vastly prefer Gboard for the majority of text input, but like to use the S-pen when it comes to creative work such as using journey for journaling. After a bit of research, I finally settled on using the pro version of an app called simple keyboard switcher which is available in the play store. I chose this app over other keyboard switchers because the pro version unlocks a nifty feature to shake the device which causes the keyboard switcher to appear on the screen regardless of which app you're in. You can then press it once, select your keyboard, and simply swipe it away to dismiss it to switch keyboards. It's definitely not the best solution since I often find myself shaking my tab s3 like a pissed off infant with a rattle to get the app to activate sometimes when it's not working as flawlessly as it should lol but it works for me personally since it eliminates the hassle of having to dive into the settings menu or pull down the notification panel. As for using the Samsung keyboard for direct input with the pen, I'm currently trying to decide between the device's default keyboard and a discontinued app called "MyScript Stylus Beta" by the creators of the note-taking app Nebo which allows for better texting editing and an overall smoother writing experience in my opinion. If you're interested you can still grab the apk for MyScript Stylus Beta by doing a quick google search and installing it from the Swedish version of the google play store where the app is still live or by grabbing it off of apk mirror. Anyhoo, I hope you find this information helpful.
Cheers!

It turns out Gboard has handwriting built in now. It's just a bit of a hassle to set up first. Here's how to activate it.
How to set up handwriting input on Gboard:
1. Open the Gboard keyboard
2. Press and hold the spacebar until a menu comes up to change keyboard
3. Press "Language Settings"
4. Select your desired language and then choose handwriting as the layout
Done!
You can now switch between the QWERTY Keyboard and Handwriting input by holding down the spacebar on Gboard and selecting either or....I also noticed a PC and Morse code keyboard hidden in there haha you learn something new everyday xD.
Cheers!
