Connecting the streak to my flat screen? Can it be done?

Heres what I'm mostly confused about... When playing a video, I have a tab as I'm sure the rest of you do as well, that says HDMI. what does that mean? is there a cable that is sold to where I can hook up my phone to my tv and stream videos?
Go to the Dell website and your question will be answered. A Google search on Streak HDMI, would have gave you the answer, or search on XDA would have told you.
You need a hdmi converter to output hd video to you flat tv or pc screen, that converter is not included when you bought your phone,so you need to pay some extra money to get one.

Does this HDMI, just output the screen? Or is it just video?

im trying it right now but so far its laggy as hell
my upload speed is at .6 mb on a speed test i just did on my phone
not sure if that s the reason...maybe my router is messed up

If you have a samsung tv or a smartv it the tv itself might support certain apps that will work. Samsung has Swipe, and Allshare. Other tv's might support Allshare as well.
It doesn't sound like you have one though so I don't have a better solution for you
I just bought a smart TV and would love to use my phone wirelessly to my TV not just for streaming but for games and web surfing as well.
have not played with my new TV to much should there be some sort of app/store that i need to access on my TV to get these.

[Q] Android Connect to Apple TV

So I have a couple of friends who are real apple fan boys and yesterday they kept on braggin while sending photos and videos from their phones over to their TV using Apple TV.
Do we have a hack/mod/app that would allow me to make my Android Device connect to it and toss pictures up on the screen? I wanted to do the of Android Peeing on the Apple.
Thanks guys!
Buy one of these
Edit: I think doubleTwist will let you connect to an Apple TV. Just download that.
You can try AppleTV Media from the Play store, its the best way to control and share content with your AppleTV from an Android device. I have 2 AppleTV's at home and it works flawlessly
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS56YXBwb3R2YXBwbGUiXQ..
Definitely worth a try.
Using media share u can use DLNA compatible devices, I've used my ps3. Works well but I prefer hdmi as the quality is better. Hookup ur phone via hdmi and get 1080p and 5.1 audio if ur videos are encoded with it...ask if their iCrap can do that.
Also love hooking up via hdmi and using my ps3 controller for games, especially onlive. Do that and ur apple friends will be selling their junk on eBay.

Please tell me what rom and the steps you followed to get the evolte to play nice with the sixaxis controller. I have been going crazy for 3 days trying to get this bastard to work! Please PM me or something, It will be very appreciated
Haha! Thank you guys!
If you do this, have another device taking video of the footage of your friends' reaction to the android peeing on apple footage on their nice little AppleTV. Optional: wash, rinse, repeat for android awesomeness inception.

Converting your TV to an android pc through HDMI

Very interesting. Look at this product which can be plugged in to the HDMI input of your TV.
http://www.talkandroid.com/121158-ippea-tv-dongle-brings-ice-cream-sandwich-to-any-tv-for-50-video/
Seems like an interesting idea. I would give it a try, but I can already do close to the same running Android x86 on my computer and connecting that to my TV. Granted however, x86 does have a few limitations which a standard Android installation doesn't.
prefer to wait for ubuntu for android

using a mips processor will break anything thar requires arm libs or neon libs, as there are pretty nice arm based ones I dont see the point in this one.
btw why this thread is on evo 3d general?
How do you control it?

With a bluetooth mouse or a usb mouse.
There have been about 3 different ones on Engadget in the past few months. For 50 bucks or so, I think that's a GREAT idea. Great to keep in my briefcase to watch movies or browse the web at a hotel, or if I just want to show someone a youtube video an a tv.

Hi I intend to get one of the M5 Pr's but I have one question before doing that.
I come from a NVidia Shield K1 and so I'm used to have the Tab connected via HDMI for watching vids in Hotels.
So is it possible to use an USB-C -> HDMI adapter with the M5 Pro?
Thanks in advance.

Can you please post the used Adapter for it, if it works. I tried at the office with an LG 21:9 Display and am not sure, whether the resolution was too much, whether the adapter did not work, or whether it is not supported

I found an article on notebookcheck.com. They tested the normal M5 Pad and found that HDMI is not possible.
What was your outcome with the Pro Model?

Didn't get it to run as of yet. But I've another connector and an App installed. Will check this evening again. Am out in the sun at the moment.
Edit 04/23: sorry for being late on here. Didn't have the time to check yesterday, but promise that I will have this evening for sure.

Tried yesterday with USB-2-HDMI Adapter. Notebook is working. Huawei M5 8.4 is not giving any signal.
There is this line in the Vendor build.prop file:
ro.hdmi.service=false
Might be worth experimenting with.

thanks for your answer, but this would not help since amazon is not working with chromecast in offline mode. But it is similar to the answer someone gave on Android-Hilfe.de
Reading in other Huawei sections, seems no others support mhl or slimport. So I don't think it's capable of video output.
So what would be the options for outputting video to a TV screen? I've always used a micro HDMI cable on my current (old!) Tesco Hudl2 tablet, but if cabled connections aren't available, what is the wireless format to use? Miracast or Chromecast don't seem to support all video formats and I'm not sure the quality would be as good as HDMI cable.

I think Miracast (not sure if supported on M5) always work because it is mirror what is on the device screen to the big screen? But it drains your battery fast because the screen must be on at the same time.

Thank you. I've checked, and the M5 does support Miracast (Wifi Direct). I've been trying to test the quality of Miracast using my current phone (S7 Edge) and various receivers, and from what I've seen so far, it doesn't look good enough to play locally stored movies at 1080p or 720p without lag / stuttering.
Chromecast might be an alternative as this sends the compressed file data and not the screen, but as far as I can see this supports only limited container types and codecs. Most of my movie files are MKV, which isn't supported, and some have dolby audio which again isn't supported.
Disappointing, as a quality video out is the only thing missing from the M5 for my current use.
I just bought a Chromecast and I am thinking of returning it ...
I can mirror my desktop mode from the m5 Pro via "Connect" in winodws 10 to my computer but not to my Chromecast ...
what the f.....?? -.-

Return it, Miracast (M5, Windows) is not Chromecast (Google). If you want to cast it to a TV, you need something like this.
https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-us/products/adapters/wireless-display-adapter-2/p3q-00001
Already did so....
are you positive this definetly works?
DONT!!! Buy from good companies. Wifi problems, no android 10, no dark mode, no headphone jack ....
Hi guys -- I tired with the m5 version -- doesn't work! I personally have a Matebook x pro and a mate 20 --both worked on a projection! -- So lets hope the put in an update soon ?
