Hello,
I have a question about product codes:
I have a Lumia 800 phone, which originally had the product code 059M3C1 (TIM IT).
I have downloaded with DPM the firmware "Nokia 800 RM-801 Country Variant RO Black V3" with product code 059P1Z4.
I have flashed with NCS Recovery (this is how: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457341) but now, in NCS i get 2 values for the product code, as shown in the attached screenshot.
I don't know why the "Basic product code" was changed to 059J2N6. I coudn't find this version in DPM.
Can somebody plese tell me why this 2 product codes appear in NCS? How can i change the product code correctly to 059P1Z4?
Thank you.

Yes, but the phone has since been flashed with it's original firmware again using NCS.
I can also not find any information on my basic product code. I do not know what the basic product code even does, as the regular one is what is used for update eligibility, etc. The fact that the two are similar but not the same makes me think it should be this way (at least in my case).
Removed PIC. See below.

No idea. I tried to check mine, but NCS can't read my product code from my phone. Maybe because I'm using Windows 8 Customer Preview. (There are any other wierd things as well in NCS. ) But I Googled your Product Code, and hasn't found anything about It! There is no region connected to that, but some of other users has the same case, that you have. Does It affect anything?

The regular product coded that is listed (059N599) is as it should be for Canadian Telus cyan model. Never had any troubles updating via Zune, etc. My father has the same phone but US country variant model, so I will connect his to the computer when he gets home and see if it is the same case.
Well here is a comparison. My dad's phone on the right has never had the firmware re-flashed, and has only been updated through Zune. So apparently it is normal for the product codes to be different.
Band Issue was fixed with the latest update....
****************************
I investigate more about it and the problem is only in VODAFONE DE hardware so far, so I can say is safe to do ---> Do not change from 821 to 820 your bands will get screw, always will show the LTE bands for the 820, even if you flash back to 821 pre-portico and portico. Now my phone is not working properly, every time I go in network search the phone reboot...any help from anyone will be appreciated?
****************************
I am going to explain in an easy way, assuming you have some basic knowledge to flash any other produces like 820 to another 820 or from 821 to another 821:
Case 1: Nokia Lumia 820 or Roger Product RM-820 to International Version RM-821
a. Do not connect the phone.
b. Download the FW that you like.
c. Create the folder in ….\Products\RM-820
d. Copy the files for the RM-821 FW that you previous download in that folder.
e. Open NCS, open product, select RM-820 and it will highlight the FW that you put in that folder.
f. Press start, the NCS will validate the FW and explain to press volume down + power and retry key to proceed to flash.
g. At this time with the phone off, press volume down + power and as soon the phone vibrate, connect to usb and press retry.
h. That is it. Your phone from RM-820 will be recognizing as RM-821.
Note: The original product code will always remain.
Case 2: Nokia Lumia International Version RM-821 to 820 or Roger Product RM-820 or any product converted before as RM-821
a. Do not connect the phone.
b. Download the FW that you like.
c. Create the folder in ….\Products\RM-821
d. Copy the files for the RM-820 FW that you previous download in that folder.
e. Open NCS, open product, select RM-821 and it will highlight the FW that you put in that folder.
f. Press start, the NCS will validate the FW and explain to press volume down + power and retry key to proceed to flash.
g. At this time with the phone off, press volume down + power and as soon the phone vibrate, connect to usb and press retry.
h. That is it. Your phone from RM-821 will be recognizing as RM-821.
Note: The original product code will always remain.
I hope that clarify how to do it and help others to enjoying flashing. A thanks click will be appreciated and I am not responsible for any damage caused by this procedure to any of you.

For some reason there is no way to change a RM-820 ATT and RM-822 to RM-821. Everything else RM-820 can go RM-821 and vice versa.
Thanks for this tutorial...
I'd like to ask you something maybe you (or someone) know the answer for...
I have an unlocked Rogers 920 which I am not using on Rogers, but on an AWS carrier. It works fine mostly, but if I flash/reflash, I cannot restore any backup, since I cannot get data working until I set up the network access point app that someone found hiding in the store a while ago. But I cannot download it until I get connected to wi-fi, and I cannot connect until the phone is fully set up, at which point, I can no longer restore a backup... (thanks to MS for this, I guess)...
At this point, I have a few apps installed, some were even downloaded on special days that were free, so if I flash the standard way, I will lose them and will have to install them again...
Do you know (or can you guess) if once the DEV ROM is installed the phone does allow to connect to data without having to install the access point add-on from the Store? That way, I would be able to restore my backup...
Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Thanks for posting the tutorial. Do you have any information on how this may affect future OTA updates once NCS is shut down?
Not really known 100% at this point. When I flashed my ATT 920 to Rogers pre-portico rom, it let me do the OTA upgrade to the rogers portico rom. Not sure if this will still work if you change an RM-820 into an RM-821 but it seems like it will.
What exactly do I gain from installing an international version RM-821 onto my Rogers RM-820? To my understanding it would unbrand it (boot screen, pre-installed applications) and get tethering to work. Can anyone else confirm that? Anything else?
Also, you mention "Download the FW that you like.", where can we find firmware and how will we know that its compatible?

What exactly do I gain? Just fun installing other FW for diferents countries.
Can anyone else confirm that? You did mention.
Download the FW that you like? NaviFirm+ 1.7
how will we know that its compatible? 820 / 821 / 822 all are compatible.

The major thing is that if you have lost your AWS band, flashing the RM-821 euro dev rom will enable it again. It will also get rid of the boot logo and all preinstalled apps.

I test in every ways and I can flash from 821 to 820 to any FW without no problem and vice verse, you must be doing something wrong. Try to install the latest NCS 2013, this what i used.
for the ppl asking about tethering on ATT Lumia,
I have my ATT lumia 920 with stock ATT rom and I have tethering enabled on it, you need to download the "access point" app from the market and then tethering will be enabled on your device.
This is the link for the app, click on it from your cell phone:

Which version of NCS are you using? Can you give a link? I can't flash my AT&T to Rogers or Euro Dev
I believe the only way to get from ATT to Rogers and for that matter Euro DEV is to do ATT (pre or post protico) to Rogers pre-portico then update via OTA then Euro Dev. The way back to ATT is kinda unknown because... well why the hell would you want to go back to a restricted bloat filled turd like the ATT ROM. Anyways this was all covered and gone over in the other thread about the Euro Dev ROM and a little in the Lost Rogers AWS thread....
I want to flash rm-820 for ATT to firmware rm-821 but I have an error
0xFA001304: Platform ID check fails. Reason(s): The FFU file is not meant for this product. The platform ID of image does not match with platform ID of the device.

I just flashed ROGERS pre-portico on my AT&T 920 and installed Access Point. I'm able to tether .
Now I'm trying to get the unbranded Euro dev ROM installed, but if I can't get that, the Rogers ROM is good enough. No restrictions, gets updates when AT&T ROM does, and lets me tether. Might be best to stay on it, actually!
Edit: Can't seem to get LTE working on the Rogers ROM... Odd since they use the same LTE bands, don't they?

You can download the latest version in this thread over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605144
Uninstall the old version and install this, them update to latest version from the NCS.
So far to go from any 821 to 820 ATT “fail”, form any 821 to 820 Roger “work ok”, this happen with portico.
I am download the ATT pre-portico to try again If I get this successfully I will modify the post to explain how to go from 821 to 820 ATT and from 820 Roger to 820 ATT.
Stay tune…!
I updated Rogers to Portico and using the Access Point app and switching to 2G max then back to LTE max, my ATT 920 now is running Rogers ROM and lets me access LTE, but it's giving me the stupid call 611 message when I try to tether now. ****.
Flashed Euro Dev Portico ROM. No go on tethering with that, either. Going back to rogers portico now. I was able to enable tethering a few times with Rogers, but it started giving me that dumb message consistently. Damn AT&T.

Try to manually set up the APN, or if you can reset your phone using the Euro Dev ROM with your SIM in the phone to allow ADC to run. What is happening is when you switch to LTE it pulls ATT's settings (which include the tethering block) from pre-defined APN's stored on the phone, not from the SIM itself. Although under the Euro Dev ROM you probably won't get LTE because I believe the bands are set differently than what is needed for ATT but you should still be able to tether via 3G(H) or 4G(H+)

hello everyone,
a friend has recently bought a Sony xperia z2 for me from china and the model i got is the china unicom model (l50u)
the phone is censored on the stock rom it has, cannot use any applications that aren't Chinese government approved i guess (no google play, gmail, etc and you can only download Chinese apps through sony select which is in Chinese and cannot be changed)
this phone model is physically different than the rest of the sony xperia z2 (2.2mm taller, no mic holes, different slot locations )
anyway i unlocked the bootloader (before i really knew what it means, i wanted to root the phone) and then i flashed it with some other official roms using flashtool
when the phone runs on a different rom, everything works great except for the sim not working (the phone is supposedly simfree as it recognizes my not-china-unicom sim) and when its on the stock rom only the sim works and the phone is pretty much useless to me but a weird camera
before i started noobing around the device i updated its firmware through Sony's pc program which gave me the files to create the ftf file from and some more TA files in which one of the is called simlock.ta
i tried installing Emma and see if the phone is registered as simlocked but i couldn't get it to work (it seem like it is no longer for non-sony employees people)
so i ask you. is there any way for me to use this phone with a different official rom and make the sim work with it? is there anything i should know about? any help is appriciated as im new to this community (which i enjoyed lurking around in the past) and to this area in android devices (as i was quite pleased with the Os as is on previous devices)

today i solved this problem with the help of Olberd and Chesterr
First i flashed to Generic Euro Rom from this thread
using Flashtool
then i rooted the phone using EasyRoot V8(check if your device works with it in it's current state)
then i installed SuperSU
then i installed Nut's Dual Recovery(locked) [you can probably check for a newer version and or change to an unlocked bootloader version]
then i flashed the radio drivers:
for the L50t (given to me by Olberd): Here
for the L50u (made by me using Olberd's files as a base*): Here
(put the driver zip on the root folder of the phone, restart and press the volume down button when the phone vibrates, untill the blue led lights, navigate to "flash zip.." and choose the driver zip)
now both the phone and the sim work, so far everything works fine ill update if there are any issues with the phone.
thanks everyone for your time and help!
*: take any of these 2 zip files and put your current original firmware's radio drivers - i used a root browser on the original firmware to get the radio drivers (copied them to a folder i can access normally on the phone) [search for the files you see in the zip].
NOTE : Use the drivers suitable for your phone, although they work on both phones they cause weird shutting down issues when installed on the wrong phone
Update : i checked all the links and wrote notes about EasyRoot , Nut's Duel Recovery and how to make the flashable zip file . i'm sorry but i cannot help with newer problems because i dont have this phone anymore as i posted before. i got some PMs and emails from sony support forum and im redirecting people here.
Update 2: apparently the google drive link became locked due to some google's change, so i updated the link so its downloadable again.

If your z2 is 2.2mm taller then it is the L50t China Mobile Model, The L50t uses TD LTE for 4G, the 3G is locked to China Mobile, but roaming with China Mobile Sim card is fine, it means you can only use China Mobile Sim card if you travel outside China. You can try to buy a unlock code, but only 3G will work, 4G LTE will never work unless you are in China.

Emma actually works. You need to copy the customization file when you initially extracted the zip, into the installation directory.
It was something that I actually missed too and there is a guide on Sony which tells you that. Once you copy that, Emma will work.

Have you found an uncensored firmware which works on the L50U yet?
BTW, its not the SIM that is disabled, its the whole GSM/UMTS/LTE radio functionality that gets disabled. My phone keeps telling me its in Airplane mode when its not. Also its confused about where the covers are for SIM/charger/microSD and keeps telling me I've left one open when I haven't.
Does anyone have the blob_fs files from C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony Mobile\Update Service\db\13740270\blob_fs starting FILE_ which you would get if you upgraded a real model D6503 to 17.1.1.A.0.402 as I'd like to try rebuilding the FTF but specifying model L50U in the build process to see if that would work?
If you have the blob_fs files for building the Generic FTF, then please post them here?
TIA

yea, the sim is unlocked by all means but it wont work on any other rom (i flashed a few : RU and UK unbranded ) both work fine except the SIM. (as far as i noticed everything else worked fine)
i posted on sony's support forum and got no help really.

i got the "official" rom for l50u from when i updated it, i just have really bad upload rate and i saw no interest in it - i can upload it for you but it may take some time.(i also still has the FILEs )
i also tried flashing combination of roms (excluding things on the list) but that didn't work, and the new easy easy root didn't work on the l50u as well
i figured the only thing i could do is customize a rom like CyanogenMod using this? (their link is broken but if you change "other" to "copylefts" it works)
but i currently don't have the knowledge and more importantly the time and patience : |
a friend also took it to an official sony retailer but he couldn't do anything about it and also said the warranty is voided as i unlocked the boot loader before there was a way to back up the drm keys)
so tell me what you think and need from me and ill upload it for you.
thanks for your time and have a great weekend.
I am having the same issue with l50t phone, I was unable to get google apps to work on the china rom, and reading the forms they say it needed to be rooted to make changes to the host file.
I use doomlords "Z2_DooMLoRD_AdvStkKernel_FW-438-v05" after unlocking the bootloader, but that stopped my wifi from working. Mobile network still worked though.
Then I tried using cyanogenmod but had no service.
Finally I flashed it using "Canada - unbranded - 1281-9709" (I didn't back up the original) and still no service.
I have checked the IMEI number and it is still there.
Have you or anyone out there have an answer? Please and thank you

Unfortunately, I need help from those millions of people with a standard D6503 model, not us few who have the L50u and L50t models.
*YOU* reading this with a D6503 model - Please can you go to re-upgrade your working 17.1.1.A.0.402 firmware (no need to go ahead with the upgrade in reality) and send us the blob_fs files from C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony Mobile\Update Service\db ?
I'd really like to know if Flashtool can decrypt your D6503 blob_fs files and make a working L50u FTF from them.
Thanks.
Maybe someone can help me get going to get the SIM working.
What I've found is that the radio is turned off.
Dialed *#*#4636#*#*, but am unable to turn on the radio or select radio band (get "set [usa band] unsuccessful")
Also could not select preferred network type. I also can't change this under network mode in mobile network settings.
Please help me to figure how I can get network service.

Hi Pitzmans, how did you solve it?
Have you got the radio to work with a non-Chinese flash? or have you found a way to unlock the Chinese OS so we can get apps from Google Play store?
TIA Banjo

well yes, you can read the issue i had in the quote on the first post.
when i flashed to other roms Google services worked (search, gmail, play store and i guess the rest too but i don't use them) but the sim did not.
so this method flashes a stock rom and installs the radios drivers basically.
Help needed !

Hi, I have the same problem as you. I follow your instructions to flash but it says "drivers need to be installed". See attached picture. I am using windows 8.1.

you need to install drivers for your device :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830
install the fastboot and flashtool drivers along with the z2 drivers
i will post the original l50u radio drivers tommorow or later today so if you got the l50u model you should wait.

Hi. I manage to install and flash successfully. But now I have another problem. My phone now is unable to have any signals. I am using China UniCom SIM card. I guess I need the L50U radio drivers files. And also instructions on how to flash the radio drivers files. Thanks.

Several months ago, I followed the process many on these forums did of developer unlocking my Nokia Lumia 920 via the Canada Rogers ROM. For a while it was great, but I would like to now return it to the AT&T ROM, as all the updates I believe are caught up. Some of my apps, including some Nokia ones, seem to not play well with this developer ROM, and my WiFi is hit or miss at home now, possibly due to this ROM. Is there any way to un-developer unlock my phone?

What is you Hardware Product Code?
The Hardware Product Code is generally inscribed physically on/in the drawer of the SIM card or on/in one MicroSD card), 059.......
I wasn't able to find any numbers on my SIM tray, and my phone is a Nokia Lumia 920, so I do not have a Micro SD slot. Is there any other way to find this number? I was also unable to find it in the "About Phone" section under Settings.

Extra+info:
Value of Manufacturer Name?
RM-820_nam_canada_246
That is the ROM I put on there about a year ago in an attempt to update early. It was originally an AT&T Lumia 920.

I was wrong, the value is that of the current rom, not the Hardware Product Code. But it does not matter.
Normally your Hardware Product Code is ATT U.S.
So just re-flash the present Hardware Product Code, with Nokia Software Recovery Tool ou Nokia Care Suite (Software Updater Module !).
Nokia Software Recovery Tool does not recognize my phone. If I connect my phone after opening the program, it says it was unable to connect with my phone. If I select that my phone is unresponsive, it asks that I reset the phone via VolDown and Power, and try again. This also does not work. Is the Other option, Nokia Care Suite, my only option? It seems intimidating, but I can try it.

For Nokia Care Suite, you have two options:
- Either you do not fully follow the tutorial and you go directly to the Software Updater module.
- Either you fully follow the tutorial (in having taken the right Product Type and the right Product Code).
There isn't a way to do it, I've tried flashing pre and post portico ATT roms, but once you flash a Rogers RM-820_nam_canada_246 you're stuck with it.
I have not however, after moving to 8.1 tried any of the new roms, or know if they are available, but might be worth a try.
OK assuming Etaduck is right, and I have no way of returning to AT&T's ROM, what am I missing out on?

I have T-Mobile in the US, and they recently got rid of one of the bands my phone was relying heavily on, so I want to be able to do calls over wi-fi and VoLTE which is not currently a feature with the international firmware I have. Since the Z5 Compact hardware technically has the capability to do this with other carriers using the EE firmware, and the XZ1 Compact is specifically able to do this with T-Mobile with the US firmware, is there a way to either flash just the bits I need or root and install the whole XZ1 Compact ROM on my Z5 Compact?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, I've been reading about how folks buying the XZ1 Compact are flashing bits and pieces to get wi-fi calling and VoLTE working with the fingerprint reader (normally disabled in the US version), and thought if there's a trick I can do with my existing phone it might save me $500.
Z5 Compact stock rom already have VoLTE and VoWiFi function, but the option only appear if the network supports it, but probably not on the us firmware?

I have Hong Kong firmware that came with the phone. T-Mobile doesn't support the phone here in the US, but I did notice that there are firmware versions (Czech, Austrian, a couple others) that are T-Mobile branded. Is it worth a try to flash one of those (assuming it does include VoLTE), or for this purpose, would T-Mobile in another country be considered another carrier?
T-Mobile here in the US seems to be heading toward 100% VoLTE with only one 2G band left in my area. However, at least in the US, T-Mobile has not certified the Z5 Compact for VoLTE. I think the only Sony phone they've certified is the new XZ1 Compact. Does that mean I'm out of luck, or is there some kind of work-around?
I also have this issue, but I'm more of a noob to this than most people here, including the OP. I have a few fundamental (probably stupid) questions:

1.) How do you know this? How do you track what band(s) your phone is using?

2.) How can I check exactly what firmware I have? I got an international version when I ordered it from Amazon, so I didn't even have to flash anything to enable the fingerprint sensor. I also know it was from a Spanish country because everything was in Spanish when I booted it for the first time. But how do I know verify which version it is exactly?
Also, OP, did you ever resolve this?
I don't use forums too much, so I have a feeling I'm going to be commenting here within the quote. Sorry about that. I hope this is helpful.

I called T-mobile, and this is what they told me. In fact, it was so bad for their customers in my area that they were offering a special deal on new phones just to people in my service area.
How do you track what band(s) your phone is using?
I can't remember the code I used, but google "hidden codes xz1 compact" and you'll find a service code to see the settings. Be careful not to use one that will reset the phone.
1.a.) Again, how do you know that there's only that one band left?
Both through speaking with their tech support and reading their press releases online.

This is going to be in one of those service codes.

I ended up buying an XZ1 Compact and flashed the firmware for the international version with one portion using the US firmware. What I originally wanted to do couldn't be done with the old phone.
I made myself a file of notes back the first time I was taking care of all of this. These are not my words, but direct quotes from various forums, but I didn't keep all the sources so I'm afraid I'm unable to cite them properly. However, before embarking on this process, I should tell you that I haven't had any push updates since I did this over a year ago, and I haven't figured out how to repeat the process to update with new firmware. Good luck!
You can probably try googling some phrases from these in quotes to find the original sources:
I tried just those two files and didn't have any luck.
ETA - man, am I dumb! I accidentally was flashing the system_X-FLASH-ALL-C93B.sin and vendor_X-FLASH-ALL-C93B.sin files from the US firmware instead of the CE firmware! Once I used the correct files, it worked perfectly.
So to summarize (and definitely do at your own risk!)
0) I backed everything up.
1) I didn't load drivers because I had them.
2) I followed the directions at the link below to get xperifirm and newflasher, then used xperifirm to download the Xperia XZ1 poplar roms for G8432 Central Europe 1
3) I copied the two files listed above to my newflasher directory.
4) I shut down the phone, waited 5 seconds, then held down the volume down key and plugged it into my PC using a USB A to C cord.
5) I ran newflasher as administrator, and chose N when it asked if I wanted to load a driver
6) When newflasher told me I was done, I unplugged the phone and started it up.
The fingerprint scanner works, group texting works, and my system is showing the same signal strength!
See my screens in the prior 2 posts. It's really much easier than what you are describing. Download the Customized UK firmware from Xperifirm. Download the Customized US firmware from Xperifirm. Copy the system sin file and vendor sin file from UK firmware and replace the files in US firmware with the copied files. Flash the modified US firmware using newflasher tool. Bingo!
So I decided to take the plunge on this with the XZ1 Compact at least. Not only do I have the fingerprint sensor working, but also WiFi Calling and VoLTE on T-Mobile US.
I took the oem_X-FLASH-ALL-C93B.sin from the US Customized version, and overwrote the one included with the UK (Device is UK Model) version, and then proceeded to flash with Newflasher.
Everything seems to be working without issue. I couldn't possibly enjoy this phone more now.
I am being a bit lazy and will refer you to XZ1 Compact thread. pbarrette has done amazing job with figuring out all the bits and writing out how stuff works
Start reading from this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...9&postcount=35
Most informative post is here https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...&postcount=105
In summary, oem.sin from XZ1 Compact "Customized US" should be used to flash XZ1. All other *.sin etc files should be from XZ1 firmware (can use other region for fingerprint reader support).
Create folder caled 'partition', extract partition.zip into that folder and it will get flashed.
To put the phone in flash mode, you need to:
1] Power the phone off.
2] Press and hold the Volume Down Button.
3] While doing #2, plug the phone into your computer.
Device Manager should show an Unknown or Other device. Quite possibly the one above what you think is the right one.
It will have a device descriptor like this USB\VID_0FCE&PID_B00B in the "Details" tab.
Run newflasher and answer Y to the GordonGate driver.
It will exit after having dumped a zip file into the newflasher directory.
Unzip and install that driver for the device described above.
---
I know userdata.sin and fota-reset.ta is responsible for wiping userdata so its safe to delete these two files in case you need to keep userdata, but cust-reset.ta and master-reset.ta somebody need to try and let us know if these two files is also responsible for wiping userdata. The rest of ta files is ALWAYS recommended for flashing, don't skip it! Simlock.ta is by default skipped so you no need to delete it.

A quick update since my last reply:
I mentioned not being able to repeat the process. Turns out, it's because I didn't have the driver installed, which is basically step one. So user error, not related to any risk or issue with having flashed the custom rom to the phone.
