It wont load up the new rom I just flashed. On HBOOT 1.5. I also flashed the boot.img from the zip file to get the stock kernal, but still no go. Help please.

Ag47ent, you have a GSM phone, not CDMA!!!! Please stay in HERE to avoid wrecking your phone forever!
NEVER mix CDMA phones with GSM ROMS or GSM with CDMA!!!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!
OP:
Do you do a factory reset when you wipe?
Yes, everything I could possibly do. I kept trying and trying, somehow it finally worked. I swear I wiped like 20 times of the SAME thing. Jesus.
Your sure you are flashing it right? HBoot 1.5 is a bit different than just flashing it in recovery I thought.

you must use fastboot method to flash a new kernel/rom. You just cant do it directly from recovery.
Else you could use flash image GUI to flash kernels then rom from recovery.
I have tried to flash both Mean ROM ICS and viperROM ICS, but all i get is bootloops. I get to the main screen but all it does is reboot and say Android is Upgrading. BTW: S-ON HBOOT:1.5 Recovery:4EXT Smartflash ON
This is how i flash a ROM
1)From Fastboot boot into 4ext Recovery
2) Install Modified_Superwipe
3)Install the ROM
4) GET BOOTLOOPS!
EDIT:SORRY MENT S-ON

Hm. Maybe just try manually wiping everything from recovery instead? I never use superwipes and as long as I factory data reset x2, wipe cache/dalvik x2, I never have issues. That's just how I've done it on all my phones and I never have issues.
I just flashed Newts One S RC3. It took me a while but I finally found a method that worked. I did it once and got through set-up and was in play store downloading apps when it went into boot loop. I tried the same method again and it didn't work. I messed around with different methods for a while before getting the following to work.
What I'm using:
HTC Unlock method
Hboot 1.5
S-on
cwm recovery 4.0.1.4
I used a computer to fastboot to recovery. Did factory data reset, wipe dalvik, and cache all x2. I installed the .zip rom file from SD card. And then installed the .zip anthrax ics RLS5 kernel file from SD card. Then I rebooted and so far everything is working fine. I've been running it for a couple hours now. I manually downloaded my apps one by one from the play store for fear of repeating what happened to me the first time. And I've just finished signing in to everything I use and haven't had an issue yet.
I hope this helps.

Yes i herd about this but have you tried charging or connecting your phone to a computer, many people can't charge or connect to computer via USB because of this kernel
Idk before I sent my phone in a had been using that kernel. I had no trouble charging/connecting. But really what it comes down to is every one of these phones is different, then you throw in the hboot and other key factors and it just gets worse.

Turn off smartflash if you are s-off you dont need it.
Then flash chads htc leak rls1 kernel, that stopped all the bootloops and problems for me its something about the stock kernel i am guessing. Everything worked fine after using that kernel. Anthrax rls5 says not to use it with sense 3.6, its right on androidfilehost. Chad said to use the leak rls1 instead for sense 3.6.
boot loop

In my case I can't get any ROM based on the leaked RUU to boot unless I changed the kernel, this applies to both 3.6 and 4.0 ROMs. I don't know if you're GSM or CDMA but I know the kernel from Shooter_Ice works for me which is a GSM ROM. I can flash that over just about any ROM and it works or I can install the ROM straight up and it works to. If you're GSM, try that, if you're CDMA then look for a similar ROM that isn't based on the HTC leak.

ICS ROMs bootloop if you are Hboot 1.5 S-On (which you are if you unlocked via HTC). I recommend you get S-off using the wire trick or downgrade to 1.4 S-off. See the stickies in the CDMA Development section (or GSM development) to find information and steps on how to do it.

+1, go s-off and you can flash anything you want
Loop FIX
Sometimes you will get boot loops even with 4ext.
One thing that I have found which works is flashing mean ROM 2.4 ICS as a base.
This ROM probably will not boot or will get stuck in a boot loop but that is fine in this case. From there on use 4ext to complete a "dirty install" of another ICS ROM. I recommend SOS De-Sensed Rom. Sometimes flashing a ICS ROM on top of another ICS ROM (booting or non booting) allows for install.
to bypass all the bs go straight to fastboot and flash 4ext recovery 1.00.5 and do the s off wiretrick and then try to flash the rom... when you get s off it releases more permissions for the kernel to flash to the rom without having to use flash image gui from joekrimz
try this
ok you need to flash the boot.img file trough the bootloader, if that doesnt work try flash image gui
Flash custom rom then pull out your battery, go to fastboot then try flash this boot.img with fastboot http://db.tt/kEUVhnvV

You have to flash the kernel for MeanRom ICS, since it can't use the stock GB kernel. I used Flash Image GUI(in the Play Store).
1) Open Flash Image GUI and go to your Mean Rom zip to flash the kernel.
2) Boot into recovery from Flash Image GUI.
3) Flash Mean Rom ICS and reboot.
Check out this video.

There are other ways of course like going to S-off, but since you are S-on, this should work.

What kernel did you end up going with?
get 4ext recovery, it has smart flash so you won't be having to use guiflash or fastboot.. and boot loops are common with 1.5 hboot
For the future i would recomend installing 4ext recovery its a recovery biult for evo 3d on s-on. It lets you upload difrent roms. You could by that app at the playstore. You shold really check it out.
OK here's what I have have/have done:
HBOOT 1.50, S-ON
I used fastboot to flash 4ext 1.0.0.5 RC5 to the recovery so I wouldn't have to fastboot every time.
I also flashed "AnthraX-htcleak-rls1.zip" (within 4ext) which supposedly fixes reboot loops.
I would perform a "factory wipe" then turn on SmartFlash and then flash an ICS ROM (MeanROM 2.4, Clean ROM ICS RC2, Derp ROM BDM4.1, viperROM B3) and they all rebooted in one of three ways: as soon as I went to unlock, after sitting on the lock screen for about 5 seconds, or without the lock screen ever loading.
I got CleanROM Reborn (gingerbread) to load and I'm using that for now.

First off, doing a factory wipe ins't enough generally. Grab superwipe from the first post of MeanROM ICS and flash that first. Do it multiple times to make sure everything gets clean. Then flash the ROM, and finally the AnthraX kernel.
1. superwipe
2. flash ROM
3. flash kernel
It your still have issues after this then you need to get your 3D s-off. Some just have trouble properly flashing the kernel with s-on on an ICS ROM

OK, so here's what I ended up doing to get it to work:
Unlock the bootloader with the HTC tool
Flash the recovery using fastboot.exe with 4EXT 1.0.0.5 RC5 (I had actually downloaded this on my phone prio to doing anything so I had the zip file with the .img file in it)
Boot in to 4EXT recovery and turn on SmartFlash
Flash the superwipe zip first
Flash the ICS ROM (in this case MeanROM)
Flash the Anthrax zip file
Reboot the phone and let it go through the setup and it was all set!
So the most frustrating part was unlocking the bootloader, because I misread some instructions at first, and it took me a while to realize I could flash 4EXT to recovery to I wouldn't have to keep booting to it through my PC, but it all worked out in the end. I'm now running ICS on my phone and it was still less of a headache than waiting for Sprint.
A lot has changed in the last year and a half or so since I rooted my EVO 4G. Thanks everyone!
I have the CDMA Evo 3D
*** UNLOCKED ***
SHOOTER XC SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.50.0000
eMMC-boot
It is Rooted and running the Sprint 2.17 odex ROM 2.3.4 Gingerbread
With TWRP Recovery.
I've been reading forums for three weeks. No one has given me a clear answer.
What I want to do is get ICS. Now before you all facepalm and say "Use the wire trick noob" It's not that simple.
My phone was flashed to Boost Mobile. I didn't flash it and I have not the slightest Idea how to flash and according to support at http://www.unlimited.io The wire trick will clear my flash. So the wire trick is a no no.
Now there was a method where you flash the boot.img using fastboot
"fastboot flash boot boot.img"
It pushes it and says success.
Then I reboot into recovery (vol down and power button)
and flash the ROM. It bootloops every single time.
I've been looking for a way to S-Off safely with no luck, so now I'm determined to master the flash process. All i want is One working ICS ROM for my device.
Thanks in advance for the help, Nova.

Why don't you just flash a stock gingerbread ROM them stock recovery and relock your bootloader then take the ota update , let it install then unlock via HTC Dev again...
from what I learned from being S-ON with 1.5 unlocked, you have to:
flash the boot.img file BEFORE flashing the ROM. extract it from the ROM push it via fastboot, enter recovery via fastboot then wipe wipe WIPE everything except your SD card 3X, flash ROM, enjoy ICS goodness

If you are booting recovery via fast boot and then flashing a ROM, there is no need to flash boot.img separately. The recovery will work as if you are s-off. And there is no logic in wiping partitions 3x.....
Or you can directly flash a ROM from recovery without booting recovery via fast boot, and then flash boot.img via fast boot.
Or use 4ext recovery and turn smart flash on, and flash ROMs directly without using fast boot.

As far as I know, both unknownforce's, and the wire trick to downgrade the bootloader to hboot 1.4 will erase your flash to boost... Ask me how I know...lol!
Have you tried the app flash image GUI? When I was s on, I used this app to flash the kernel, then I went to recovery, and flashed the Rom, and all worked as long as the kernel was compatible with the specific Rom I was flashing, maybe you can try flashing the VM leak kernel, then an ics Rom

That's just the way its ever worked for me so I found it was worth giving out my way at least as an opinion I know once you boot into recovery via fastboot is SUPPOSED to work that way, never did for me hence my weird method. Wiping partitions may not have any logic to you sir, but to some of us it does back from the OG EVO days, that's what devs there used to post, that's what I've gone with as a routine for myself.
I've known peeps who attempt the ROM first boot then reflash boot.img after- endless powercycle. Never happened when I tried it but eh
4EXT wasn't always around so I guess I'm still trying to get used to easier flashin on this phone. I enver used smart flash on this one because when I was S-ON I did it the fastboot method, then the Unknown Force method came to be and I never had a need for it.
Evo 3D on Boost S-off but problems with ICS ROMs
Background:
EVO 3D (CDMA) flashed to Boost Mobile. Sept 2011
Rooted HTC Method Oct 2011
ROMs ROMs ROMs until about 6 months ago (currently using Eternity Infected Rom 1.4.2)
Tried to go to ICS and had problems so did S-off wire trick Aug 2012 (Lost Boost Mobile flash) Had to reflash to Boost.
Now:
****Unlocked****
Shooter XC Ship S-OFF RL
HBOOT 1.50.0000
baseband 97.10.0808
I'm in a quandry at this point of what to do next.
I'm not able to successfully load any of the new ROMs. I tried just upgrading to Infected ROM 2.0 but it also always has issues like it forces me to use skype or email won't open. I'm guessing it is because I load my old data from Titanium backup and it isn't compatible. I tried Mean ROM and it works and changes my kernel but I don't like it as it is full of Sprint Bloatware which does me no good on Boost. I've tried to load the latest Viper ICS ROM and it just stays stuck on the HTC screen.

Flashing a cdma boot.img on a gsm and vice versa can brick your phone if i'm correct.. That's why some flashable kernels have shooter and shooteru files.
As I've read, shooteru is the GSM version isn't it? By the way, I'm SURE the boot is correct, because I take it directly from the ROM I'm going to flash, that is exactly for my device

Shooteru i gsm yes, if you take the boot.img from the rom it shouldn´t hurt.. since flashing the rom itself is doing the same. It's just a kernel.
I'm doing it, let's see if it works
that why i included the OR its either cdma or gsm. different devices as far as the kernel is concerned

Wifi not working in stock kernel means that the stock kernel isnt compatible with the rom you are trying to run. You could look for a kernel with the most stockish setting. I think anryl, coolexe and "the other one" all can be set up to behave mostly like the stock htc kernel. Just have to tweak it right

I just want to point out to the op that anything you flash on your phone has the potential to damage your phone and worst case scenario: bricking your phone. Just make sure you research and do a lot of reading. But I'm pretty sure you already knew that.

Hope you guys can help me...n sorry for my broken english...THANKS
S off or s on? Your phone comes s on, with s off you dont.need fastboot flash. Full wipe in.recovery > wipe all user data + dalvik and cache.
First flash the rom, then flash.kernel

full wipe, install rom, then flash boot.img,
Assuming you have a custom recovery installed, you will have an option to do a full-wipe.. It wipes a few partitions on your device and I believe cache from your phone... It does not wipe your personal data on the sd (other than apps installed on phone) card so don't worry about that. He meant install the rom first then fastboot flash boot boot.img in fastboot.

Hi guys,
I'm getting a little problem installing the cyanogenmod 9 on my device, so I founded that I have to "fastboot flash boot boot.img" when i flash cyano.

If you are using fastboot to flash the boot.img, why not just start your recovery with fastboot using the following command:
fastboot boot recovery.img (where "recovery.img" is the name of the recovery file you flashed)
That will put your recovery in a mode where it can flash boot.img as part of the ROM or kernel zip and then you won't have to extract it to flash it separately. You also need to disable SmartFlash (S-ON) in the tools menu if you are using 4EXT recovery when using the fastboot method.
