I think to change rom from stock
Any suggestion ?
These rom better then stock ?
Because i know for exemple that samsung s1 and s2 with custom rom is much better , smoother etc...
Thanks!
AndroWook.
There is no other choice for me.
Also AndroWook, or AOKP. Wook amplifies and brings the Prime to what it should've been in the first place.

Yep what they said! :good:
Newest Version of Wookies...Its the best...
im very happy with AndroWook 2.0 with M's 3.05 kernel
Thanks ! ill try
If I'm on stock .28 I can root and unlock and install? Is there a thread that shows how to do this all of this ?
Thanks

AOKP, with Motleys kernel. Freaking awesome.
CM9 is making pretty good progress, but I think AOKP is still more developed.
Androwook
Any AOKP based rom, i recommend PCB as all the dock shortcut keys work, if you dont have a dock then AOKP b40, ive heard great things about androwook but havn had the chance to play with it
i think it's pretty obvious that there are two main roms that people use
aokp is the best rom if you want more customization
androwook is the best rom if you want more of a optimized stock experience
and motley's kernel regardless of which rom you use...
One more for team wookie..
Running androwook 2.0 revival. Best one yet, I like that you have options of how you want the rom set up as you install it
May I ask has anyone compared Androwook to Virtuous Prime? I'm running the latest version of Virtuous Prime and I'm very happy with how my Prime runs, however I'm curious if better performance is out there.

Virt and wookie are one of the better roms ive tried, i was very happy with my virt rom, and wookie is comparable to virt on stuff like performance and app compatibility
The stable versions of mr wookies roms are really good, i think wookie edges it slighly in the performance area
One of the reasons i switched to wookie was because i wanted to see if my prime could perform better, and because virts rom was'nt getting as many updates as say wookies rom.........i don think youll go wrong with wookie as long as you keep in mind that sometimes you might come across a bug in a very early release, untill its patched offcourse
So
Virt if you want something with decent performance and stability day in day out, or wookie for the many updates and implementations of newer things, mr wookie does alot of extra things with his rom offerings like
-providing a download that gives you a folder with all the apps he takes out of his minimal install, which you can then move individually into the zip he provides which can then be flashed via recovery
-With 2.0, in aroma installer you've got options in what you want to install, i.e. stock kernel, stable motley kernel, alpha motley kernel, and which heat script you'd like to go with them.....in hes next update, hes gonna give us the choice on whether we want to install the new sio schedular in his aroma installer
AndroWook Prime is fantastic and HIGHLY customizable when you install it (kernel, launcher, near stock or unbloated).

Hey guys, I've seen that lots of people have been having confusion between the ICS roms and whatnot.
1. TMOUS ICS LEAK
Stock Sense 3.6 with Ics 4.0.3
2. Android Revolution HD 2.x.x
Same as TMO Leak only with improved performance and battery. There are NO visual changes whatsoever in what I've seen. Completely stock look.
3. Energy ROM build April 27 and forward
Based on TMO Leak. April 27 build is much like Android Rev HD, only with some tweaks put in by NRG. New build that is on the way is themed and has more tweaks. If you haven't used the Energy ROM before, expect a heavily themed ROM just like the earlier GB builds of the ROM.
4. Speed Run 2.x.x
Currently in beta testing. A senseless ROM, with ICS lockscreen and Stock ICS look. If I'm not mistaken, Sense launcher/Rosie is removed and replaced by another launcher, more specifically, Trebuchet or Nova for example, which are built on the Stock ics launcher with more features.
5. RevolutionizedNonSense
Based on ARHD 2.1.0. Similar to Speed Run, with much of Sense removed. Rosie replaced by Apex.
Hope some people can make good use of it

Can someone please post AnTuTu scores of the different versions. I am probably going to flash one of these (Energy probably as I am used to his GB ROM) soon as I am tired of all the TMobile crap, and I need the quick settings that NRG has in his version.
I am currently on stock ICS, rooted with ext4 installed. AnTuTu has given me scores around 6500 (last run was 6558) and I have seen someone on AndroidRev has a score of 6666. If any of these ROMs are significantly faster, I will go with that option. Anyone on Energy, please? I cannot post in the Android Dev section because I have never posted much here. But I am absolutely loving ICS so far, and might even try and get into development since I have a little bit of coding skills.

I hope u don't base which rom to flash by antutu benchmarks. Honestly, it doesn't take but 10 min to do a backup and flash a rom. I always download each rom and make a backup so I can just switch between backups. It's always best to try a variety and see what u like best.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense, and what I would normally tell other people too. I just want to change to something with a high score for a few days, to see if it really feels any snappier, before flashing Energy for regular use .

Not to whore out my rom but.. well wait, I kinda am.
You can add RevolutionizedNonsense to the list- it is based on Android Revolution HD(which has a ton of tweaks you should note on the OP) but has all of the sense removed, and uses aosp(Lockscreen,Browser, mms, gallery, email, calendar, etc) a lot like the speed run does(I just chose a better name )
But so far it has been super smooth, everything works.. and because it was built on top of mike1986's Android Revolution it is snappy as hell, and so far really good on battery life.
Really, I couldn't ask for a better rom unless I made it myself.. which I did.

This is my fifth prime bought the first when it was first released and bought and sold a few more since then I picked one up a few days ago for a crazy price i am now running virtuous prime and performance mode at 1.8 ghz and my galaxy note is still much faster with everything i don't understand this, i think the prime is the best 10 inch tablet i guess i just thought it would be faster when overclocked with a custom rom
for starters wrong section, should've been in QnA section. Second, you could've just posted that in one of the many existing complaint threads.

if you running a custom rom and overclocked it should easily run faster than what you claim. you must not of did something right. I'm stock, rooted, and overclocked n my prime runs circles around my Ipad n phone.
try a different rom and make sure its flashed correctly. virtuous is more of a stock base rom built for stability. you want performance, use AOKP or WSG rom or maybe even new gummy one. lots of different roms to try out. even still, virtuous overclocked should be running great.
OK thanks I will try another room btw my note is rooted running rocket rom lpy so it is not not stock, but it is faster then my current set up on my prime but i will take your advice and try another room thanks
Also remember that different chip setups use different speed tweaks. Are you running a third-party launcher? Any monitoring apps? What kind of widgets? What background services are running? I had virtuous with OC and it was great, but I changed to AOKP with OC and is much faster running the same apps.

Im runnin a custom ICS Rom on my Galaxy S2...Its overclocked at 1.5...And its pretty damn close side by side when I bring up stuff...I too am runnin the Gummy on performance 1.8...But its fast enuff for me...
And I just luv the view of a 10.1 compared to my 4.6 screen on the Epic 4 Touch...
why is my honda civic faster than a 18 wheeler? the 18 wheeler has a much larger engine and a lot more power!
The prime easialy outpowers the note however other things have to come into consideration: What kernel / rom is running on both devices, what device specific optimizations have been made for the specific hardware. What different chipsets, GPU's, screen resolutions, animations, versions of android, etc are there?
There are so many problems with this thread i dont even know where to start. As far as tablets go, the prime has the best HARDWARE. This does not mean, by default, the software will run faster. The same way that 18 wheeler has a much larger and more powerfull engine does not mean it will go faster than my honda civic with its 4 cylinder engine.
My suggestion is go on google and do some research on how android actually works. Learn about the hardware you complain about and maybe you might learn your answer for yourself.
Both are running ics 4.0.3. Both are running adw ex launcher and the same apps don't get me wrong the prime is great I am just surprised that my note loads webpages twice as fast on the same wifi network even on demand at 1400 MHz on the note vs 1800mhz performance on the prime - anyway I was just curious no big deal
lol im not surprised, wifi on the tablet sucks. try loading up some graphic intense games and see which has the fastest loading times. Its no secret the primes wifi sucks try a test that compares other things like the GPU or CPU.
And even if both devices have android 4.0.3 unless its stock google 4.0.3 they have been tweaked in one way or another. load AOSP on each and give er another shot.
just loaded up the gummy v1.2.3 and now it is as about as fast as my note on the internet - of course the prime has more power and gpu but i was more concerned with everyday apps like internet, etc. i currently dont play any games on the prime
i think i wil put an aosp rom on the note and see how it compares - thanks to everyone for their advice
btw i picked up this prime to test out the unlocked bootloader / customs roms, it was pretty scratched up when i bought it used but i put on a zagg screen protector and it covers up all the scratches on the screen and then i bought a nice leather case as well not bad for $100 total !!
As the title says, I am looking for a battery friendly rom and I don't know which of the roms are recommended and which arent.
It's for my dad's tf201, so if there are two good roms and one of them looks closer to asus' stock rom, I'd pick that one, just to make sure, he won't panic and to prevent issues with the belgian keyboard (AZERTY)
Thanks a million!

Thanks! That certainly narrows it down! As opposed to my tablet, I can't keep on flashing ROMs on my dad's, that's why I asked for a stable and battery friendly rom, so I wouldn't have to update it all the time
If there are any other opinions, please do share them
By the way, are there any people with non-QWERTY keyboards that work fine with a non-stock based rom? Because I found that CM10 on my tf700 wasn't really optimised for non-qwerty keyboards yet
Thanks again.
(PS: I know roms are subjective, that's why I am not asking for the best rom (because that simply does not exist, I am asking for a daily driver that you'd recommend )

I agree. Currently, I'm running androwook hb 1.51 with the 1.7 clemsyn kernel.
The energy rom continues to improve at a rapid rate, and I might make the switch back after a bit more tweaking..
Another vote for Androwook here. It's based on the stock's design and gives you the option to install some of the stock apps as well, so it's not a big change to the interface like some other ROMs can force, but still updates the kernel, adds features, removes bloat, etc.

Thanks! So you'd say it close to the tf700's ClearRom series: meaning no bloatware (unless you want it to be there), initd scripts, ability to change dpi/kernels etc.
And which kernel would you recommend for non-power users?
thank you so much everyone, this info has been most helpful! :highfive:

Wookie 1.51 with the built-in Clemsyn kernel that disables Fsync. It is a fully functional stock ROM that alleviates some of the issues with our crappy internal storage. This setup actually makes the tablet usable. You will not see any improvement in battery life, and weak GPS and Wifi are hardware/design faults so no ROM will improve that. I have tried CM and Paranoid, but they ran like crap.

Yes, at least somewhat. I have not seen any ANRs since. But the key is not the ROM but a kernel that disables Fsync. Either way, you need to be unlocked. I will not get into the potential issues with disabling Fsync, as that has been discussed, only to say that it can cause data corruption. But I have not seen it yet, and the tablet is actually usable. AndroWook 1.51 with the included Clemsyn kernel does just that. Void your warranty, Asus warranty is useless anyway.
+1 to Androwook. Battery isn't made any better as the rom encourages overclocking and WiFI/GPS won't be improved further because those are hardware flaws. Otherwise its an improvement in every way.

Mine overclocks stably to 1.7 Ghz and gives me the same quadrant scores as my stock dual-core Galaxy S3. Otherwise, battery life on this tablet was always crap, but I can't say that overclocking made it significantly worse. The display eats a lot of juice, so watch the brightness.

What quadrant score do you get? Cleanrom 3.4.2 with Clemsys 1.5-1.8 kernel gives me approx 6300 in performance Mode
And FSync is not disabled. Look at the quadrant scores in topp of thread at the Cleanrom thread with and with out FSync
I assuming Browser2Ram helps a lot?

I'm loving AndroWook too. Been on Hairy Bean 1.51 for a while with the Clemsyn kernel. No issues. Just started using 2.2 (which is still at RC stage) and really liking it. Got a 6360 score on Quadrant earlier.
I've been following the Androwook thread for a while now but have yet to take the plunge. I'm wondering if I do that now or wait a bit... being pretty new to ROM-ing, I'm uncertain as to how difficult it would be to upgrade the rom when a new version comes out (say we finally get 4.2 for the 201, so Androwook switches from using the tf300 firmware as a base to using the tf201 firmware as a base). I have no concept of how much time (something I don't have enough of these days) it might consume to do a full wipe and upgrade, and get everything back to the way it was.
If you have Titanium Backup it's pretty straightforward. You do need to do a factory reset, so that involves backing up your personal data before you do it. I've got pretty practised at that now and it didn't take long.
It's best to get Titanium to back up all your apps' data before you do it; I only backed up the most recent apps, so lost a little inessential stuff: recent files on RepliGo and so on. If you have the Pro version restoring's very fast.
I'm using Nova Launcher and it even restored all the shortcuts on the home screen, which was pretty neat.

One thing I will add to this is if installing a 2.x version is to make sure these backups are created on the External SD as the Internal SD is going to be wiped completely by the bootloader upgrade.
asking for a "good" rom is against the rules, so stop.
try them yourself
As the above said.
We do not allow such threads here, the often spark fights over the 'best' rom, when really it all just comes down to your own personal views.

Hi there.
Months ago I abandoned stock ROM and installed CM11-unofficial. Now, I feel the device is pretty "slow" and "laggy"... Thus my question: which ROM would you suggest to have a responsive device back?
Thanks,
F.
I've found Crombi-KK really responsive once loaded, it's worth making sure you're on the latest firmware. Apps like Greenify also do a great job of keeping memory footprint of apps under control
I'm using Zombi with F2FS and ROM2SD. Feels faster than Crombi for me.
