Which ROM would you recommend - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

As the title says, I am looking for a battery friendly rom and I don't know which of the roms are recommended and which arent.
It's for my dad's tf201, so if there are two good roms and one of them looks closer to asus' stock rom, I'd pick that one, just to make sure, he won't panic and to prevent issues with the belgian keyboard (AZERTY)
Thanks a million!

Androwook and Energy ROM are both stock base and fast, smooth, and stable.

Thanks! That certainly narrows it down! As opposed to my tablet, I can't keep on flashing ROMs on my dad's, that's why I asked for a stable and battery friendly rom, so I wouldn't have to update it all the time
If there are any other opinions, please do share them
By the way, are there any people with non-QWERTY keyboards that work fine with a non-stock based rom? Because I found that CM10 on my tf700 wasn't really optimised for non-qwerty keyboards yet
Thanks again.
(PS: I know roms are subjective, that's why I am not asking for the best rom (because that simply does not exist, I am asking for a daily driver that you'd recommend )

I agree. Currently, I'm running androwook hb 1.51 with the 1.7 clemsyn kernel.
The energy rom continues to improve at a rapid rate, and I might make the switch back after a bit more tweaking..

Another vote for Androwook here. It's based on the stock's design and gives you the option to install some of the stock apps as well, so it's not a big change to the interface like some other ROMs can force, but still updates the kernel, adds features, removes bloat, etc.

Thanks! So you'd say it close to the tf700's ClearRom series: meaning no bloatware (unless you want it to be there), initd scripts, ability to change dpi/kernels etc.
And which kernel would you recommend for non-power users?
thank you so much everyone, this info has been most helpful! :highfive:

+1 for Androwook - it's stable and fast and works great

Guide To Roms Xperia X8

There are many good Roms for our Xperia x8 in xda, But it is hard to determine which one is right for you,, when i first started i faced a lot of problems deciding on which rom to use,, eventually i found out that it depends on the user on what he wants in his rom and chose the appropriate rom accordingly, SO i am going to include all the roms i have used and give detailed information , so you can choose according to your needs
If your having a hard time finding the best kernel for your X8 as well , Check out my Guide To Kernels
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469464
But first Read these up if you don't know how to install a custom Rom also i have included a guide on how to install a custom kernel

#Custom Kernel Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17384177&postcount=3
#1. Froyobread : This Rom is a great choice for beginners, its stable and fast. it's core cm6. Android 2.2, a great upgrade if you are still using the 2.1 stock eclair this is the best upgrade,, many hail this as the best stable ROM there is, its full of features, it delivers smooth performance, and i have found it to be very stable. so if your new just use this, you will be satisfied
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079463
Pros : Still considered the most stable Rom, Fast and Smooth Performance, Good app Performance, android 2.2 has greater app support, most features work without any problems, little or no bugs, one of the most famous rom so if you have any problem lot of people out there to help you
Cons: Android 2.2 has become old many people prefer Android 2.3 over it. Not as Smooth as gdx when it comes to scrooling, according to some people Wifi does not work(it worked for me though)
#2.Hackdroid: A decent rom, flashy and stylish, sometimes laggy. but overall a very good room. great for starters, however many people stated this one to be a little unstable , but it really depends on what apps you run if you are looking for a good looking rom with visual features this one is a pretty good choice
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914513
Pros: Very Customizable, Decent Performance, Stable if you stick to normal apps, Has more features than most Roms
Cons: A little Laggy, Sometimes Unstable, Many people have Reported bugs in this rom. Other Roms Offer Superior Performance
#3.KuyaDroid: This one is an awesome rom, solid and stable, fast performance smooth menu and everything is decent. Its a good rom if your into gaming as it has built in Overclock, Undervolt, and gesture.(note these features can be manually added on other roms too). One more noticable thing about this rom is that it's core is cm7, and android version 2.3( a big update from the stock 2.1)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109563
Pros: Very fast app performance, Smooth Scrooling, Android 2.3, Wide Range of Users so you will easily find solutions if you face any problems, Overall Solid CM7 Rom.
Cons: Lacks Features that are available on Gingerdx, Some Reported Bugs, some apps force closes
#4.GingerDX: This is A cm6 - cm7 update of the Famous Froyobread, So far its fast and stable although a few bugs have been reported but its one of the most stable and working cm7 , android 2.3 roms around. its definitely worth a try if you want a fast and smooth working rom. also it has some pretty good features more than most roms out there to exact. Many people state this is the best Cm7 rom out there
Pros: One of the Smoothest CM7 Rom i have used, Full of features, Customizable, Most apps work without any problem, Regularly Updater, Wide range of users so you will easily find solutions if you do face any problem, Upgraded Camera
Cons: People claim it to be stable but not fast(A custom kernel helps in that case), Some minor bugs still needs to be fixed, Some features and still needs to be more polished and stable, updates have recently slowed down
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188486
#5.BehradGH: this one is a light and simple rom, not a bad choice for newbies but it does not have as much customizable features as the other roms, its a good rom for starters,, so if your looking for a simple rom and an upgrade from your stock rom you should try this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=955467
Pros: Light Rom, Good for Average Daily apps, Simple rom without complications. Simple Upgrade from the Stock Rom
Cons: Powerful Games Such As Nova, MC Sandstorm often Force closes, Some Reported Bugs, A little unstable while Performing Certain Operations
#6.GingerCruzt: Just tested this Rom Recently , And boy was i surprised , good performance and good looks, which is something very hard to get in one rom. in some cases better than GDX, but not as stable when running apps, but for normal daily use this one beats most of the roms out there. also it has a very similar look to the stock android. so if your into stock looks, try this out. also its android 2.3 /Cm7.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101691
Pros: New and fresh, Decent Performance and Features, Not bad for daily use, most apps work without problem, Android 2.3. the new look is unique(gc 8.1 and after)
Cons: The Creator of the Rom is not really Co operative since he is not really active on XDA, Minor bugs, Is not updated as regularly as other Roms, Lacks advanced Features that available on other Cm7 Roms
#7.Krauser-SROM: Recently Tested this Rom, this uses a lot of Froyobreads Features, Its fast and stable , not a bad choice if you want try something other than those famous roms, i found it to be really decent rom. Not bad for daily normal usage
Pros: Simple Lightweight Rom, Most apps work, Stable and Smooth
Cons: Some FC on apps, Community of its users is not as big as Froyobread, Android 2.2, Doesn't have much features as some of the other roms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184735
#8.GingerXperia: This rom is pretty good, and i actually find it to be even faster than gdx,Yes it lacks the features which gdx offers but if you can make do without those advanced features this is the rom for you, its also reported to be stable and smooth , its not bugfree though but hopefully it will be fixed on future updates
Pros: Very fast, Simple Rom, Light weight, Good app performance, Stable Rom,
Cons: Lacks some Features, some bugs, New so the community is still small, got worse with recent updates, the rom's creator used a lot of contents from other roms without taking permission from them(The issue seems to be resolved after V017)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373679
#9.Fd xperience: One of the better new roms, it has a stock look which is sure to attract many people, if you want to upgrade but do not want tolose your stock looks and yet have a stable upgraded rom this is the rom for you, its smooth and fast better than most roms out there, But it has some bugs and support issues, and i got some fc when playing games on it , other than that its very stable and fast
Pros:Fast,Stock look, Stock apps, good app performance, Smooth scrooling,
Cons: The contacts app is very slow, The music player lacks features, Some 3d games FC, the new updates boasted looks but slowed down performance
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089690
#10.Stornmix: This is a very recent rom, It has the looks. The framework is beautiful, However the visuals in my opinion has been given more importance than speed in this which makes it slow, and many people i asked said that it really lags when playing hd games. Otherwise the rom is reported to be stable soo far. very few bugs, and if your not into gaming this rom may be a good choice
Pros: Looks Awesome, Fresh Look, Unique framework, Stable, Not many Bugs, Pretty Fast for daily use
Cons: laggy for gaming, Very small community of people using, not as much customization as other famous roms, Still needs more work, camera doesnt work properly, Contact numbers are not visible
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339823
#11.GingerXperiaRay: Another recent edition to X8 roms, Frankly i like this rom, stable, good performance, not many bugs, It's a good rom for gaming soo far i was able to run some hd games pretty well in it. The rom is smooth and maybe a good choice if your into gaming
Pros: Fast and stable, Built in ICS TRANSITIONS, Good app performance, Light
Cons: Needs custom kernel to fully work(Hopefully will be fixed soon), Needs more testing, Very new and very little users
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393520
#12:LinuXperia: This is a good rom, the creator has worked a lot and improved it from what it was, however many people have reported some problems and bugs. and there are some doubt about it being fully compatible with the stock kernel
Pros:Fast rom. good gaming performance, Stable(Many said that previous versions are more stable)
Cons: According to many people the update affected its overall performance, Not as customizable as Famous roms, Needs Custom kernel to work well
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363033
If anyone wants their Rom added in this thread just let me know
#13.AtiFroyo: This is Based On Minicm6,,so yeah it uses a little older version. As with all froyo roms, this one provides good gaming performance. But again as it uses older version you won't get as much functionality as Gingerbread roms
Pros: Fast Gaming Performance, Light weight smooth Ui, Stable, One of the few Froyo roms that are still updated (Mainly because it fairly new)
Cons:Quite a few bugs, According to some there are better froyo roms, lets face it Froyo is oudated
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447607
#14.Mini CM: This is another Classic Xperia X8 rom , Similiar to gingerdx its very Good. One of the fastest rom out there. It provides a pretty good performance when combined with Its own custom kernel. In my opinion it provides one of the best gingerbread Experience
Pros: Fast and Smoot, Great Gaming Peformance, All apps work without any problem, Light Framework, Huge community of people to discuss probs with
Cons: Needs Custom kernel, Some people claim it to be unstable
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362585
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1222348
#15. Android Prime HD: Created By Haka(Who had a great amount of influence when it comes to improving Our X8) This rom is pretty good so far, the 2d and 3d performance is really good, Its new and so far it seems to be pretty stable, whatever bugs it used to have Haka is working hard and have fixed most of it, a must try for those want a clean rom
Pros: Simple and Light, Decent Fps In Games, Clean interface, improved performance, Regularly updated
Cons: OC Bug, Doesn't work with stock kernel anymore, Led notification bug, FC when multitasking

Thinks To consider Before Flashing A custom Rom: If you have doubts about anything gain more knowledge about it by asking people in Xda. If you want to install roms that requiere Custom Kernels Make sure you know how to unlock your bootloader
Warning: If you do anything without being sure about it you might end up with a bricked phone, and Hard bricks cannot be fixed on your own

don't forget about GingerCruzt, the last version add xperia active launcher
well, then let`s not forget either miniCM7-2.0.6, which, by the way, I personally like a lot, since I first tried it, I`m stuck on it!!
i posted it because many people look on the Development section,, and this thread is specially for beginners, those threads are a way more advanced and may look confusing to beginners
What would be useful is a list of pros and cons (or a list of what doesn't work) for each one.
For instance - i really like GingerCruzt, but can't get MMS to work on it.
GingerDX is an all rounder - but maybe has some battery drain issues (although Doixanh is really really improving it).
Just a thought
(and if anyone knows why MMS won't work on GingerCruzt, but works on my phone in GingerDX, please let me know!)
I have two propositions:
- tomek3pl H_Stock ROM. Has bloatware removed and contains good additions (App2SD e.g.) and a lot of people like stock
- HAKA's GingerFroyo, which is very careful with the battery.
How about SROM?
I havent really tried S rom,, i will add it after i have tested it
No ROM will beat GingerDX
Fast Stable. No bugs for me . no wifi bugs no battery drain.
i use'd this since v003 and now im running v013 it's fast run's great game's like NFS SHIFT and PES 2011 great customisation;
only thing i dont like is stock launcher (launcher pro) i much more like Go Launcher more customisations more fun bit faster and more stable
Please listen
if you got an x8. get GingerDX v013 Get OCv004 put the module in
Overclock to 729Mhz
You Will NEVER be happy with another rom once you try GDX ! ! !
Even Dox admitted there are some bugs in his roms ,, Gdx one of the best rom but still there are lot of other good roms like MINI CM7 AND GC
I was using gdx till v14. Agree with many - a great rom overall.
But since last 7 days I have used Fd v1.0.0 It has been an absolutely amazing experience. Fast, zippy, stable and I love the active launcher. I have not found a single bug, except one inconvenience that when you open contacts, sometimes it can take a little lag before opening; gardly a deal breaker !
Other than that my congrats and kudos to the developer on this amazing achievement.
P.S,: I have used maps while walking navigation last night in central london, phone was searching for signal in underground trains for 1 hour, used wi-fi and web browsing for 45 mins or so, fiddled with settings (ultrabrightness ticked), and still have got 40% left after 24 hours !
you have posted the same thing in multiple threads,, plz don't spam the same thing
hi.
sorry, i might be posting in wrong thread...
if i root my X8 and put custom ROM - will i be able to put original ROM back and unroot it?
asking cause my phone was given to me by my company and i might have to return it someday
well you should make a backup before flashing you phone with a custom rom, that ensures that if nedded you can go back to its default rom,, Use Xrecovery to do that, Just in case you havent backed up your previous data but want the default rom and kernel back, just download the newest se kernel and flash it using flashtool..
Please share a link to it
the one i found here is only for 2.3 as it states there

If you just wanna try a different ROM, yes you can use xrecovery to make a back up of your actual ROM and install a new one, but
1.- it is not necessary that you flash any kernel, since there are already a lot of roms to try with no risk involved, such as unlocking bootloader etc.....
2.- at any given moment that you want to return to a brand new factory stock ROM, you just plug your phone with PC companion or SEUS and choose repair and you are done, this will unroot your phone and reset it at factory settings, any doubt just let me know

Which Rom You Have

I think to change rom from stock
Any suggestion ?
These rom better then stock ?
Because i know for exemple that samsung s1 and s2 with custom rom is much better , smoother etc...
Thanks!
AndroWook.
There is no other choice for me.
Also AndroWook, or AOKP. Wook amplifies and brings the Prime to what it should've been in the first place.

AOKP, with Motleys kernel. Freaking awesome.
CM9 is making pretty good progress, but I think AOKP is still more developed.
Androwook
Any AOKP based rom, i recommend PCB as all the dock shortcut keys work, if you dont have a dock then AOKP b40, ive heard great things about androwook but havn had the chance to play with it
i think it's pretty obvious that there are two main roms that people use
aokp is the best rom if you want more customization
androwook is the best rom if you want more of a optimized stock experience
and motley's kernel regardless of which rom you use...
One more for team wookie..
Running androwook 2.0 revival. Best one yet, I like that you have options of how you want the rom set up as you install it
May I ask has anyone compared Androwook to Virtuous Prime? I'm running the latest version of Virtuous Prime and I'm very happy with how my Prime runs, however I'm curious if better performance is out there.

Virt and wookie are one of the better roms ive tried, i was very happy with my virt rom, and wookie is comparable to virt on stuff like performance and app compatibility
The stable versions of mr wookies roms are really good, i think wookie edges it slighly in the performance area
One of the reasons i switched to wookie was because i wanted to see if my prime could perform better, and because virts rom was'nt getting as many updates as say wookies rom.........i don think youll go wrong with wookie as long as you keep in mind that sometimes you might come across a bug in a very early release, untill its patched offcourse
So
Virt if you want something with decent performance and stability day in day out, or wookie for the many updates and implementations of newer things, mr wookie does alot of extra things with his rom offerings like
-providing a download that gives you a folder with all the apps he takes out of his minimal install, which you can then move individually into the zip he provides which can then be flashed via recovery
-With 2.0, in aroma installer you've got options in what you want to install, i.e. stock kernel, stable motley kernel, alpha motley kernel, and which heat script you'd like to go with them.....in hes next update, hes gonna give us the choice on whether we want to install the new sio schedular in his aroma installer
AndroWook Prime is fantastic and HIGHLY customizable when you install it (kernel, launcher, near stock or unbloated).

[Q] Stable and Lag-Free Rom

whats the best stable, lag free, and fast rom for the fascinate? is their any ROM that has JB/Kk? also, i need a rom with lots of internal space.
honestly i've been most satisfied with EH03, the verizon stock ROM. i've tried every version of CyanogenMod and nothing has come close to the fluidity and speed of good ol gingybread.
although if you absolutely can not stand touchwiz for some reason, CM9 is ok but it has a couple of issues (no native wifi tethering, weird texts from blank numbers, sometimes it just freezes and reboots itself).
also i use imoseyon's lean kernel along with a couple of other mods.. if you want them let me know. it kinda looks like touchwiz 4 for me.
using the stock verizon build too, debloated, debinged, rooted. all the links to EH03-based ROMs are dead unfortunately.

And it's so subjective,,, what works for one another despises...
I loved 'baked blackbean 6' it was 4.1.x jellybean (course i heavily tweaked it to my personal liking),,, and then came Slim ROM 4.2.2 ,,,
hellybean was good too,,,
Of course running the devil kennel from hellybean on these was the ticket too.
you just gotta be willing to take the plunge and try some different ones out till you find the one that trips your trigger the best
actually, based on prior experience, CM7 is the best non-TW GB ROM (although i'm content with my gutted out modded to hell EH03), ICS i just don't recommend because it gives excellent performance and is solid but the devs never fixed a few issues that are kinda big. JB just always lagged and stuttered too much but i remember Helly being a halfway decent rom

Any smooth and fast ROM?

Hi. Sorry for my bad English.
Can someone tell me his experience with Roms? (Please) I'm lookin for a good, fast, stable and smooth ROM. I don't care the version. It can be GB, ICS, JB or KK. I want it faster and stable. I have tried carbon, slim, smooth, miui.... And others.... And all of them turns lag after a week of use. I'm on MIUI right now and its eye candy but very lag.
Will be useful to make a pool or a category list of fast roms to lag but eyecandy. We love Roms with a lot of new stuff and features but we really need a stable and daily driver rom and the stock ROM is lag too.
Thank you!

For JB, my go to....try the Aviator series: http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...or-aokp-v104-061613-200-test-available-071013 There are actually 3 ROMS AOKP, Cyanogen and Gummy. I like the AOKP as Gapps is built in. I have this as a backup on my DD.

If al of your ROMS start getting 'laggy' after about a week of use, maybe you should look into Greenify, or not downloading some apps. You might have a lot of processes running in the background that might be making it 'laggy' because our phones only have 1gig of memory (which actually isn't a bad thing, but still).
Of all KK ROMS that I've been using in the past 3-4 months, I haven't had any issues with lagging. Maybe some FCing, but from my own mistake of trying to tinker with them too much (kernel settings). I would look into cleaning up your PHONE first, THEN look into finding your 'perfect' ROM because everybody is going to have their own opinion on what ROM is best. I, too, have used Carbon (now), Slim, LS, Cyan, Axxiom, and a few others, and they all work great (IMHO). Do your reading. Look at what people are saying. Support your favorite dev.
I'm using ParanoidAndroid for 2-3 months. I didn't do clean install only in the begginning. Installed stable OTAs, and some beta OTAs too. I didn't notice any lag or problem.
There were some problems with some versions, but if you wait 3-4 days after every release and check the forums for any complains, you skip the problematic version and you will be fine.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I'm using axiom and like it, it's fast and smooth. I'll try greenify too. Really liked miui but it's so lag. I don't want to tweak kernel, I'm afraid with that going to try this ROM for a while and I'll let you know what happens. Thank you.

It also looks very nice with Crimson Mode
Axxion works great. I've updated to 1.60 and feels good. I have a question.... Why Google play store looks different on MIUI ROM? I like it. Anyway thanks @siracuervo and @ThatKawaiiGuy for your great work!

[Q] Which ROM to get a responsive TF201?

Hi there.
Months ago I abandoned stock ROM and installed CM11-unofficial. Now, I feel the device is pretty "slow" and "laggy"... Thus my question: which ROM would you suggest to have a responsive device back?
Thanks,
F.
I've found Crombi-KK really responsive once loaded, it's worth making sure you're on the latest firmware. Apps like Greenify also do a great job of keeping memory footprint of apps under control
I'm using Zombi with F2FS and ROM2SD. Feels faster than Crombi for me.

For me best is HairyBean v2.31. The ROM is fast, stable, fsf2 support, bravia engine, best kernel what i ever use on TF201 with performance profile.apk and a lot more stuff.
