[q] Tablet storage getting low, Internal Storage practically unused - HTC Jetstream

The problem is the "Tablet Storage"(Total space 16.12gb) or the storage that comes up in USB mass storage is almost full while the Internal Storage(11.81gb) still has around 8gb left.
I already moved all apps into Internal but I guess the real problem is that most android apps downloads extra data into the sdcard while the apps themselves are very small in size.
Hmm I guess I answered my own question. Any thoughts?

i think that is too stupid from htc to use more than half of 32 gb storage for applications, to fill it, we must install more than 1000 apps :silly::silly:
but i also think that it can be solved by re-partition of sd card and we must only ask custom rom maker to provide it in next version

try installing some of these apps to delete junk files
Experienced the same problem so I installed root explorer and manually searched for unwanted files and then freed allmsot 2 GBs of space. A lot of work though.
good luck

question about Storage on the note

hi guys,
So i got the 16 GB Note. However, i dont understand where all the apps are being saved.
when i go into storage it shows usb storage total 10.84 GB and available 9.51
and then system storage now shows 1.37 GB
what is system storage? and why is USB storage only showing 10.84gb
when i go into the applications > manage applications - it lists all the apps and below it shows system storage 588mb used and 1.4GB free
someone can correct me but I believe apps are probably being loaded into system storage via default and the related application data such as music/photos/etc on the usb storage.
The NOTE is sold as having 16GB internal memory which is made up of 2GB system memory (some call it phone memory) and USB Storage (/sdcard) of about 11GB. What is using the other 3GB left of the 16GB??? Don't really know but probably data w/the preloaded apps?
how can i check if thats the case?
or how can i change that?
the system storage is very limited.
I see system apps in system/data/apps......now in sd card there is a extension with the da_g kernel I noticed...where when pluged in...all recovery backups go to into a folder named clockwork...and I see a download folder where my new downloads are going...so I have 2 folders now of clockwork and dcim and download.....but the sd is through a folder named external sd ...its almost like its backwards.....messed up I know....

actually the system storage of 2GB is more than enough as it is just used to store the applications themselves.

Error low memory

I have 500 Mb of free space on internal storage and when install or update any app sent me a error notification of low memory internal storage.
I try to wipe cache and dalvik cache and reflashing the rom but don't work.
Help me please!
Thanks

Get rid of some huge apps or files (movies, audio, ...) on the internal storage.
Alternatively move them to the external SD card.

Samsung or Google in their wisdom have decided to not allow Google Play apps to be moved to the micro-SD card.
http://www.chainfire.eu/articles/113/Is_Google_blocking_apps_writing_to_SD_cards_/
I was talking about movies/music since (at least for me) that's what eats up all the disk capacity =)
If you're rooted you can bypass the App2Sd restriction by using the app "Directory Bind"
By the way; App2SD was implemented to be able to move apps from the app-specific storage (/data/) to the internal storage (/sdcard) since the first one was far smaller. Since the S3 shares the SDcard-Storage with the app-storage capacity, it's no longer needed. Or so they thought.

Forgive me. When you wrote, "huge apps or files (movies, audio, ...) " and wrote move "them", I had incorrectly assumed you meant move "huge apps or files (movies, audio, ...) " to the SD card
if you rooted, install lucky patcher (google it), then run it. it will automatically delete unused odex file in our system.

[Q] Storage - How much is used by the OS

I just bought a Nexus 4 with 16GB internal storage. In Settings, it shows that I have approximately 13GB available. Am I correct in assuming that the OS is using the other 5GB?
The reason why I am curious about this is because I am considering buying the Zopo ZP900, which comes with only 4GB of internal memory for Ice Cream Sandwich. Although I've done quite a bit of research on the ZP900, I'm unable to find any resource that documents the size of the "Device memory" and "USB storage" partitions; looks like I might have to actually buy the phone just to find out! I really disklike the idea of buying a phone only to learn that there's minimal available memory.
I've noticed a few user comments on GizChina where users have complained about phones with only 30MB of available internal memory. Yes, the memory can be expanded with an SD card, but some applications require installation to the internal memory.
I searched the forum for an existing thread on this issue, but couldn't find one; please forgive me if this post is re-hahsing an old issue. Thanks.

16-13 = 3. (not 5) and that part of memory taken up by system includes space for installing apps and stuff. Just get a 16 or 32 gb SD. (not for nexus4, I know) yeah some apps go into internal memory. Keep the unmovable ones on internal and move others to SD. mine has 8 gb internal memory. 4gb taken up by system.
yes the cut off space is used by the os and dedicated internal space for installation of apps n games. I think u cant install apps in your remaining internal memory. apps can installed only in dedicated internal memory or sdcard. if can also use ur remaining internal memory as sdcard by the help of rooting.

System Data on Internal storage

I asked this question in the Samsung note forum but didnt get a response so I was hoping I would have more luck here...
Was just reviewing what is using up my storage space on my internal memory card using DiskUsage and the majority of it is System Data. I thought that the reason that Samsung reserved about 5-6GB of the internal storage was for all of the operating system and any future add ons they wish to add etc. If that is that case, what is the system data that is using 3.5GB of the remaining 10GB of available internal storage on my device?
Not been able to find a clear answer on this.
There are lot of answers saying something to the effect of "durrrr, its your system data, of course its going to take up space otherwise you wont be able to use your android device". But clearly the OS is reserved in a seperate partition of the internal SD. As well as this many people have shown that there System data is in the MBs no GBs. As such I still haven't gotten any closer to figuring out what my System Data is and how I go about reducing it.
My device has 16gb internal storage and 64gb micro SD. I use FolderMount and have about 25-30GB of apps installed. I thought this may be whats driving the large System Data usage but I dont know why.

[Q] [YP-G70][CM11]Storage issues

Hello,
I know this may have been covered already, but I'm somewhat confused.
I have cm11 installed on my SGP5 and it runs fine. However, I'm up to my storage
limit on the internal storage (~1.5GB) even though most of my apps are on USB
storage, and USB storage still has a couple of GB available. What are my options?
I've tried to digest references to Link2SD but I wonder whether I have to format
and partition the external SD first. I have quite a bit of data on the external SD card,
so I don't want to format, if possible. I have also seen references to flipping internal
and external storage or joining both. They confuse me even more!
Is there any way to access that free 2GB of USB storage? Can I resize any of the internal partitions?
I do have experience with partitioning tools on Windows.
Thank you,

Has anyone used the app System Cleaner Root? I tried it, and it freed hundreds of MB
on my internal storage. Could someone explain exactly how it works. I did a search
on Google Play for "dalvik cache" and this app led the list!
Thanks
