I am using a Tmobile Htc Radar 4G.
Its SPL screen reads.
PI060110
SPL-2.4.1600015
Radio-16.23.05.13_2
Is there a reason why I can't use DFT´s 2.05 SPL to downgrade my own SPL?
When the RUU processs begins from the SPL screen, it installs up to 4% and then gives me a [Vendor ID] Error.
Please include the Tmobile US version of the Radar in your 2nd Generation HSPL. Thank you DFT!
*Reserved
The reason it fails is because the RUU program installs a certain SPL (or something to that effect) thats exploitable, and its locked to a certain CID
just make a Y-cable ( Instructions here )and you can drop the RUU files on a SD card and install them right from the phone, after the RUU part run DFT's program and boom your all set
I did it for my T-Mo radar and it worked beautifully
I too have a T-mobile unlocked HTC Radar....It reads same as of the OP and hangs at 4 % and Vendor ID error !!!
I don't want to use goldcard method , is there any alternative or any hope of alternative?

Thanks for your response!
Ahh so the RUU is only compatible with european Radars. I am currently travelling abroad, and will be for some months, so really a working RUU is my best option. It shouldnt be too long before the HSPLSG2 is released! Unless someone else can come up with a way to downgrade the SPL on a US Radar. Maybe theres some program availabe fromHTC to revert to origional SPL?
Can anyone confirm that the problem is with installing the SPL 2.05 only and not with flashing the HSPL via RUU?
Just make the Y-cable. At the time, there is no current way for US T-Mobile users to downgrade our SPL without it.

This thread however is about the DFT Second Generation RUU. "DFT HSPL - US
Tmobile Radar - RUU"
I don't have access to those materials so I created a thread to discuss only the advancement of the SPL RUU for US HTC Radar. Thank you.
Have any TMOUS Radar Users succeded in flashing DFT SPL 2.05 vía RUU using a stock rom? I want to determine if its only the latest updated US radars that are incompatible with the DFT SPL RUU? Thanks!

get over it man...... YES, you NEED a dev-y cable and a goldcard if your cid is not supported by the spl you want to flash.
don't act up as if DFT or anyone else here owes you something, just because you don't want to buy such cable and create a goldcard.
be happy that they made it possible to install hspl on second gen (wich was no easy task for cotulla seriously)...

Dft themselves mentioned that if your cid isnt supported, to post all the spl and cid info of your radar so they know which ones to support in future builds. I think this thread is a good outlet for such post. Please try to read thread titles in the future and contribute to the subject at hand. Thanks as always.

this thread is not helpful at all since the dft hspl installer should actually work for your cid.
you have not posted your cid yet anyways (you only posted MID. i know your CID but do YOU know it too?).
the only reason why this thread exists is that you don't have a dev-y-cable and goldcard.
if you would have those two things, you would be able to install mfgspl (wich will lead to install hspl)!
IF you have mfgspl on your device and hspl install fails then.... then... we can talk about CID support of hspl....
what you mean is CID support of the initial mfgspl (wich is limited and that can't be changed for now).
Is there an easy way to determine ones CID, searching around I cant seem to find that answer?
I need to make a goldcard, and Im stuck on this

Boot Loader: Loader from the 1.34 cingular release
Radio BL: AFAIK you can't downgrade these so staying at 108

How I plan to get there:
take the .nbh form the 1.34 cingular package and use RUU to flash the device.
Questions and concersion:
I'm looking for input on possible incompatabilities and hang-ups with varios BL versions and what not.
comments / feedback on my plan would be greatly appreciated and I will build a monument in your name if you help .
This has been covered before...
But, since you're well on your way to brick-ville, I'll buy your phone off you for, say, $100? It'll be worth less after you brick it...
Read up on the W*I*K*I and Oli's 1.40.Olipro bootloader before you do something dumb.
I did read it.
And thats the plan I came up with.
I was looking more for a confirmation.
The wiki has a ton of great info but its laid out reall crappy and not very cohesive. So I figured I'd post what I've came up with after reading it to see if I missed something. And from there maybe get more specific input on where the issues/dependencies are..... or maybe not.

I really appreciate the feedback. At least you're letting me know my plan wont work. Which will prevent me from trying it. But it would be kick ass if you could be more specific about what in the wiki i missed like :
-you can't flash the entire .nbh file cause it will try to replace your boot load and break it.
or
- Re-read the THREADS about 1.40 SPL because *something useful here*
Either way I'm still thankful cause I know my plan is a **** sandwich.
Very good.. You're getting there! It's nice to see someone read some directions..
You have it mostly right.. Flash the HardSPLv6 first. Then, grab the .nbh from the cingular rom and combine it with CustomRUU. Choose 'Autodetect' (we're looking for a hard-spl flash)..
Then, once that's done, you'll have the right radio, OS, splash, etc.. The only thing left would be to down-grade the bootloader, which I would advise against.. But, you can do it.. There is a seperate thread on HOW to do that, as it isn't just a one-step process.. Search and ye shall find.
Thank MAn!!! That kicks ass.
I need to send my phone back because the radio dies every 5 mintes.
So I want to get it as close to factory as possible.
So after I downgrade the BL i won't be doing anymore flashing to that phone.
Sometimes when I soft reset the phone is says "No GSM" even when sim is there. Soft reset it again and the radio is detected.
Very irritating.
Check out:
http://www.mrvanx.org/hermes_guide/
Flash HardSPL-1.40
Create NBH containing your provider's 2xSplashScreen + ExtROM + OS & flash it
Flash 1.16 radio
Flash-HardSPL-1.10
Flash your original IPL & SPL versions.
F-ya! That last part about down grading the BL is the part I was having trouble pinning down.
One last question:
Can I use the cingular NBH or will it try to flash the RBL and crash because you can't down grade the RBL
the the new mrvanx page is dope. found the donwgrade guide.

Pof,
I did it this way but after flashing the radio rom I get no GSM and then I'm stuck in the Windows Mobile Screen.
I have looked in the Wiki but how can I actually unbrick?
My SPL is still 1.40 Oli. But I can't get activesync to work.
Should I flash the new radio via SD card or any other way (mtty?)
I would be very gratefull for any help,
Cheers,

Any suggestions?
Or is there a way to bypass this? I have IPL 1.01 and SPL 1.40 Olipro.
I now got a Connection Error 264 but the bootloader gives usb and I can reach the hermes bij MTTY.exe.....
What is going wrong?
@hellejoep: close all programs including mtty before u run ruuwraper. Make sure you're using the latest version (v4.2) and activesync is not enabled.

I have been there mrvanx guide. but he don't have the solution to this problem. Just to downgrade the rom to wm5 not the SPL.
mysharif i think we have to shout again.
Help us anybody there we are stuck here.
OK guys the SPL downgrade can be done by downgrading to SPL 1.10.oli then flash any ROM with SPL 1.04 in it.
The only reason i can see that you wish to downgrade to 1.04 is because of a warranty issue. What is the problem with your devices??
You are great. I hope it will work for my Imate JasJam. Last night I was flashing my ROM with the original ROM but modified with NBH decomplie too by dutty. Before that I wrecked my device as I used the flashing of ROM using the latest sensation of loading the SSPL to RAM by des. That was my mistake that I used the original ROM. Then I removed the USB cable as it was taking too much time and because of danger to my imate I did that. Anyhow I got the NO GSM error but then I ran the Dutty's WM6v2 cooked ROM and it fixes all the things I am using it now.
The reason for my Imate JasJam degrade is my jog is not working according to its function. You know jumping from field to field. I didn't found any of that problem solution till the page of 30 in threads and posts. I am searching but if anybody knows the link. Kindly help me. So that I will save a trip to see the warranty people. (here we don't have ladies receptionists )
Sorry for the stupid question, how do I downgrade from Oli 2.10 to Oli 1.10
Il write a guide on it...too many PMs about this.

I have the same problem. My touchscreen is dud and Softbank is very anal about the bootloader and warranty. im stuck with Olipro 2.10 and tried flashing the latest softbank rom. When i try via USB/Windows it gives me error 260.
Flashing with MicroSD works, but after a few attempts, its still Olipro bootloader...any ideas?

Ofcourse...because flashing an original RUU it doesnt recognise the new bootloader (Hence your 260 error), and HArdSPL doesnt allow itself to be overwritten by a retail RUU. IF you read through the HArdSPL threads you would know this.

Hmmm, just yesterday (Thursday) I was asked by a VP at our company if that could be done. I was reluctant to say yes, but mrvanx comes thru with a fix.
The VP is in fact worried about having to return some devices to Vodafone, and he want to make them look "original" when they go back.

Just flash SPL 1.10.oli.......................then flash a vodaphone ROM, dont use 'force SSPL', just use autodetect.
well to get spl 1.04 all u have to do is take rom koch and the wm5 rom u are downgrading to. first downgrade os. then take that rom and using rom koch split it into parts and just take the spl and make it into a nbh and use the custom ruu on here. select force sspl and itll make ur spl 1.04. this is a quick guide and do this at own risk. using this method i got my first 8525 to aku 3.5 att and original spl. if marvanx comfirms i didnt make any mistakes i can make a new thread with pics and all so we cna add this to resources and stop the questions.

Hi mrvanx, some input to go into your guide (in case you havent come across this yet).
While flashing 1.10Oli under Vista, users may run into a problem where after loading SSPL and the phone goes into (SSPL) bootloader mode, the RUU program cannot detect the phone and returns an error.
This is due to the Vista drivers for HTC USB Sync. The driver needs to be manually "updated" just like in your Vista flashing guide. In this case, while the phone is in SSPL bootloader mode, go into device manager, replace the default HTC USB Sync driver with the USBAS one from your Vista flashing guide.
Then soft reset the phone, and try again. Worked for me.
For some reason, SSPL bootloader may appear as a different device to Windows than the hard/standard bootloader, so even if the Vista procedure has been performed before, it looks like it needs to be done also for SSPL.
I have been reading all across the forums how to CID unlock, upgrade etc. However, I am not able to find the ways to do seeminly essential homework before trying to upgrade. These for me are:-
* Finding a way to completely backup all the stuff from original tytn. Like ROM, SPL, IPL, Radio, CIDlock etc. I feel that this is important as if ever I feel like going to the tried old one I should be able to and to preserve the warranty also. Also, the method to roll back if needed. This should be covering re CID locking the phone etc.
It makes sense to create a way to bring the phone to its completlely original shape if we need it
Thanks

You do not need to back up your spl, ipl, etc. because if you need to roll back you can just reflash them on, and they can be found around here and in the wiki.
You cannot un-CIDunlock, but if you use hardspl v7 it will "trick" your phone into thinking it is (when in reality it isnt) so that you do not have to actually unlock it. If you ever need to send it in you can just flash the old spl over it.

HardSPL does not CID unlock. pof's Free Unlocker (a sticky thread) does the SIM and CID unlocking. HardSPL is a new set of bootloaders allowing upgrade utilities to access and read/write to the phone. The most important aspect of this (besides bypassing the CID check) is the security - it has some overwrite protection built in to prevent you from accidentally corrupting the bootloader area, rendering your phone a brick. HardSPL is a safety measure.
If you check THE WIKI here on xda for the Hermes, you will find some stuff on extracting. It is most probable that it will be FAR easier to find new versions of everything you have, rather than trying to back up and restore. The wiki contains MANY shipped ROMs to allow you to restore back to basically the original condition. LOOK HERE for MW5 shipped ROMs and LOOK HERE for WM6 shipped ROMs.

Thanks a lot for the reply, I appreciate the time you spent in expaining this to me and providing these links.
I was wondering if HARDSPL is like shelltool where it will only allow upgrade or flashing of OS part. So, once I use the HARDSPL and flash say HTC official WM6 release or Dopod WM6, will I be ableto to get the bundled radio and SPL and IPL upgrades from these ROMS? and if yes then will HARDSPL get replaced by these SPLs and IPLs built into the ROMS? One more thing, will an upgrade like that can brick the phone as if I rum the official ROM it will try to upgrade the SPL and IPL (I am not sure).
What is the preferred way of upgrading ? unlocking CID by the tool or HARDSPL ?
I have read somewhere that lockwiz tool used for Wizard can save CID also and some tool and put it back also but I dont know how and if the same tool can do it for hermes?

Alber

Most cooked roms are os only, but a few have a radio, etc. included. If its os only, flashing will only change the os. You can separately flash radio.
Hardspl is the best because its reversible. Well thats not the best word to describe it....id say because its not permanent. But u know what i mean

Mcorrie1121 is right. I will add a couple of things.
1. HardSPL is not *necessary* for flashing anything, it only makes it safer and allows you to flash ROMs with CIDs that do not match your device without CID unlocking. Your ROM is basically a few parts - OS, Radio, IPL, SPL, ExtROM, MainSplash and SubSplash. The HardSPL will replace the SPL only. Most non-carrier ROM releases are OS only. Most carrier ROMs (as you pointed out) have ALL of these things. As Mcorrie1121 pointed out, you can easily find a radio - check the wiki, search, etc.
2. Once you have upgraded to a cooked ROM (and HardSPL), you will still be able to upgrade to a Shipped Official ROM. You may need to "unpack" it and use the CustomRUU instead of the shipped updater. That is OK though.
3. HardSPL will not allow overwriting of the IPL/SPL except by another HardSPL (see mrvanx.org downgrade guides). You will not have a problem. It will keep your bootloader zone safe.
4. I don't think there is a preferred way. Some people unlock CID, others do not. There is no reason to *not* unlock it, unless you plan to send it back - and I have never heard of someone getting service rejected for this reason. Wring ROM, yes. CID unlocked, no. That said, maybe try without CID unlocking first and then if you find you need to do it for some reason, then do it. You really do not have to do it, since the Custom Updater bypasses the CID check anyway.
5. Regarding the 0108 Radio BL issue, don't worry much about that - it is an old problem. Just don't go below whatever version you have now.

Dear, please help me with one thing-I am terribly confused about the procedure to upgrade my JASJAM to WM6. I understand that one way is to CIS unlock it and install on it the official and dopod releases of WM6. I wanted to know how can I do the same using the HARDspl. I know that I can install the HARDSPL but after that what ??? Can I then run the offcial RUU from HTC or Dopod or I am supposed to do it some other way as I am afraid that it may contain the SPL and IPL and can break by phone OR I have to use some customRUU (I dont know) OR I am supposed to extract the OS from these official releases (I dont know how) OR ..
Can you please clear these confusion??
I have:-
* I-Mate JASJAM, CID locked i suppose as when I run official HTC or dopod it says this update utility is not for this
*I really wanted to save my devices complete state and a way to revert it to the way it was like SPL, IPL, OS, Radio, CID lock etc.
PLS pls help
Regards,
Alber

CLICK THIS LINK
There are upgrade guides there and guides to put it back the way it was (OS, Radio, IPL, SPL, MainSplash and SubSplash) - it is all covered.
The upgrade guides will get you through the upgrade process. The only thing you need to do after that to use an official upgrade is to unrar (using winrar or something) the executable file and take the nbh and us it with the CustomRUU, which can be found HERE .
The seller said it is unlocked. How can I verify it?
I read CID Unlocking and Sim Unlocking. How can I confirm both.
Also, how can I tell which version of the radio?
and which version of SPL (3.5 or 1.2)?
Or is there any great tutorial I can setup for the AP4?
I am starting to get confused.
the seller probably was not lying as it is easy to do (thanks to olipro - cmonex/olinex) but if you want to check, press and hold your camera button, whilst doing that press the reset button, and tell us the details on the rainbow screen.
this will also tell you if it is SPL 1.1-1.2 or 3.5
when your done just press reset again
LOCKing is related to SPL. SPL is a part of the "bios" (just to use the PC paradign IPL and SPL are "extended bios" ), then you have the RADIO section of the rom and the OS (WMxx)
Other part of the rom are the EXTENDED ROM (where the file needed for operator customizzation during first install are stored) and splash screens (a FULL ROM means IPL,SPL, SPLASH 1, SPLASH 2, RADIO, OS, EXTENDED ROM).
This "bios" , called SPL can receive commands from RUU (Rom Update Utility, the sw used to flash the rom file). ROM info are "wrapped" in a .nbf file and the RUU, interacting with SPL with some batch commands, flash into the device memory the ROM parts (Splash are flashed in their locations, os, radio, ....) RUU opens the .nbf file, read abatch command file, and send the commands to the SPL to flash the rom sections
Now you can understand how a custom ROM is done: using a "kicken" you can prepare a .nbf file containing the data and the batch command file used by RUU to flash it in the right location of your ROM (SPL, RADIO, OS, SPLASH, or all together) SPL is a KEY part for this process.
With the stock RUU IPL and SPL some controls are done before flashing, first of all device's language and vendor ID, so called CID. If they doesn't mach with the ROM file you will have an error and RUU exits: wrong language, wrong vendor, ....
Flashing a custom SPL you avoid this check (or it sets the CID to "supercid", it means I accept every language and vendor ID)
The SIM unlock (phone working with all SIM card) needs something more complex. In the ATHENA FORUM whe have ATHENA UNLOCKER, from OLIPRO, for SIM Unlock and CID Unlock and ATHENA WRAPPER, just for CID unlock. They will update the HTC SPL to OLIPRO 1.2
Hi sergiopi,
Your post is so concise. You told us the whole theory it may take me more than a day to find. You have the potential to be a book author. Thanks anyway.
Questions:
1. How can I tell whether the sim is unlocked?
2. How can I tell whether the cid is unlocked? Or it is no harm to run the ATHENA UNLOCKER again?
3. What is the different btw SPL 3.5 and 1.2? Should I update it? I am planning to run the AP4.
Thanks again!
Did you completely miss my previous post, if you follow the simple instructions. I gave you earlier, we will be able to answer all your questions.

To check if your Athena is SIM Unlocked take a SIM from your friend's phone who is in another network and put it in your Athena. If it refuses to accept the SIM then it is locked and you have to unlock it. If it accepts the SIM and lets you place a call, it is SIM unlocked and most probably CID Unlocked. To check if it is CID unlocked just do what ice_coffe says.
I didn't miss the post from ice_coffee. My Athena is still in shipping. I just want to get more info first. Besides testing with a real sim card, is there any method we can run from the machine?

Listen Alui. The question numbr 3 shows of your post shows that you are realy a noobie. So if you are still waiting for your new device, do not waste your time but start reading. If you already decided that you want to go for AP4, then did you realy read the AP4 thread from first post? I am almost sure, you didn't.
So please remember, if you do not know what you are doing then you have a big chance to convert your super device into a brick.
And once more, if you browse this forum, you can see how many threads is there, and how many post is in each thread. If you see this you should be sure that you are not the first person here who just got his new device. All your questions were answered many times here so just read and read and after a week of reading start to plan what to do next.

Bent battery pin? Check carefully
Also, your spl (2.08.0000) is only stock for tmous hd2, not regular,, what did you flash? Full details and step by step list of your actions please.

i cant tell anything because my friend do it with me, but he download everything, but he is on holiday now so im no abble to say anythink.... ccan u provide me link to correct ruu??
Ps. battery pin r ok and battery is charged.
"Correct ruu ' depends on the network you got the phone from and if they rom locked it and also the region, so for example an o2 UK phone requires an o2 UK rom UNLESS it came from o2s second batch of hd2s which were rom unlocked but region locked so they use wwe unbranded roms. My point being that it's not as simple as me saying "that one"
However, you could ......
Use hspl4 to apply 3.03.hspl
Flash any 3.14 rom over USB
Re run hspl4 select 3.03.0000
ok,so i flash hspl succesfully like u ask me to do, but when i try to install ruu i get error message all the time, i dont know wich ryuu is correct for my htc. i biught it on ebay unlocked...

What does spl line say In bootloader?
If hspl is really installed, it doesn't matter what ruu you use, that's the point of hspl
spl line

the spl line say: SPL-3.03.0000 XE
So that's not hspl then, , , if it ends 0000 its a stock spl.
Proves the pointlesness of non specific statements like " I flashed hspl successfully ", , , no you didn't, you USED the hspl program to successfully set the STOCK spl of 3.03.0000
into bootloader
re-run hspl4
choose 3.03.hspl NOT 3.03.0000 and you'll be good to go.
