[Q] CM9 Deep Sleep Issue - Motorola Droid X2

I have installed CM9 on my DX2, and while everything is running smoothly and the battery life is acceptable, I have noticed that deep sleep is not working. CPU Spy reports that it spends most time at 216 MHz, and deep sleep is not even used.
Has anybody else noticed this? Maybe deep sleep isn't implemented yet like it was in CM7?
Deep sleep would allow us to save a little more battery I would assume. I would post this on the development topic but I am not allowed yet, being a new member. Thanks.

I have found that "bluesleep" is causing a wake lock. A simple work around for this is starting Bluetooth on a reboot, and then turning it off. This will allow deep sleep until the next reboot.
I will try to figure out how to get a logcat for dragonzkiller, so he can come up with a fix.

In case you missed it in the development thread:
dragonzkiller said:
CM9 doesn't go into deep sleep yes. Looking at my battery usage and the usage of others there appears to be a background process that keeps on running. From what I've seen it might be the service that controls the automatic brightness levels. It keeps looping over and over again saying that the index is out of bounds of the array. Which is weird and it shouldn't say that, but looks like I have to go in and fix it. That can also be why the battery is a little bad on CM9. Okay, I wouldn't say "bad" but "not as good as it should be."

And in case you missed the original post he was saying this IS preventing a sleep, and that hes going to let dkz know about it

Couple of screen shots, same deep sleep issues that have been confirmed by Dragonzkiller, my battery life is great though with moderate.

Here is a screenshot of my phone in deep sleep after a permissions fix and a reboot. I then started up Bluetooth and then turn it off. Deep sleep is fine until the next reboot.

Link to a logcat of a reboot, screen off with no deep sleep and then Bluetooth started then entering deep aleep:
http://pastebin.com/Nyu41Sit
It seems to be related to a permission with Bluetooth and a bug on reboot.
Hope this helps us. How can I get this to dragonzkiller? I cannot post on the dev thread yet...

reliable cm9?
I have my epic 4g running flawlessly on cm9 and I was trying to put it on a friends droid x2. From reading the rom thread it looks like cm9 still has a ton of issues for the x2. Have the video and other issues been fixed?

TON? I'd say only a gram of issues. VIdeo is not fixed yet depending on what you mean.

i just called them up, my phone was still in warranty, so i had one free replacement, just give support a call, let them know your having battery issues and you should be able to get one
Yep, this phone rules. Love the fact that it works so good as a PHONE too, the way they all should. Motorola has it down. My best since the latest update was over 40 hours, with a few hours worth of phone calls.
Wow that's awesome. Now did you do anything else special like turning off data etc.

I use custom data saver mode set to turn off data automatically after 15 min all day and night. That way I don't have to bother switching data on and off manually. Plus, it comes on very fast when I turn the screen on. I do keep BT and WIFI off when not in use, brightness at 25%. I also use the built in task killer to auto kill a few apps that want to keep running, like Facebook. I'm locked, but rooted running stock rom, and I used battery calibrator app after the update which helped. Although, before the update I was getting pretty much the same battery life.
And with me, believe it or not, I have the brightness all the way down, (you'd be surprised how bright the screen still is!!!!!) That's my only real secret to even better battery life

I did the same thing with moto, except i was getting great battery life to begin with. I just wanted a second battery.
One thing that I don't get though is why the phone always wakes up on it's own. My heroc and Evo 3D didn't do that, with the same apps installed. It kinda concerns me.

Just wanted to post new battery settings:
- Running Skinny ROM, unlocked, rooted
- Actually stopped overclocking the phone - max is 1000 Mhz
- Undervolt @ -75mV
- Juice Defender - Customized Settings (wondering if Aggressive is better)
- I did go through two nights on Airplane mode 14hrs
- Alarm I hear is what causes the phone to be "awake" at night...
Well, I'd say it's been pretty impressive...though I didn't text much and wasn't on too many phone calls, I'd say 24 hours of use w/ 10% left isn't too shabby. I could have probably gotten another couple of hours.

Battery drain when sleeping

I went to sleep with my phone having about 80%, but my phone becomes 30% 8 hours later.
That's like 50% drain over 8 hours with screen off.

Even with the phone running at 200mhz with the screen off it shouldn't drain 50% in 8 hours.

Have you used sixaxiscontroller by any chance?
The only people I know of that have had long bt_wake wakelocks were certain CM7 releases, and people who use sixaxiscontroller (it somehow causes a permanent bluetooth wakelock until you turn bluetooth off/on).
Something Bluetooth-related is flaking out on you.
Sir, your phone.. Is being raped at night. That is all.

Yeah I do use sixaxiscontroller
That's probably the main reason I guess
Should I uninstall it or is there a specific setting to prevent the drain?

I forget the exact trick, but I think if you toggle Bluetooth off then on after shutting it down, it will fix the problem.
I think there may be a way to make sixaxiscontroller shut down cleanly too, but I'm not sure.
There was some trick involving disabling things in the right order when you were done with it that worked, I forget the exact order - might want to search here for sixaxiscontroller.

Twitter can fix the 2.3.6 battery issue

We all need to tweet our concern about the battery life after the 2.3.6 Update. Be specific about 2.3.6 Update and Galaxy S2 I777.
Use @SamsungMobileUS and be sure to use the hashtag #DudeYoureABarista (this is their current marketing crap hashtag)
3 tweets won't get this done.

Also, with hardly no screen time, your phone is awake quite a bit.

Possible Resolution to battery Drain Issue
I called Samsung Support and they helped me to change the wifi sleep policy from "never" to "when screen turns off". This resulted in using up less than 10% of my battery last night from 11PM to 7AM.
Action Taken:
1. Settings
2. Wireless and Network
3. Wifi Settings
4. Click Menu Button (next to Home Button) and Select Advanced
5. Select Wi-Fi sleep policy
6. Change it from "Never" to either "Never when plugged in" or "When Screen turns off".
7. One person reported success rebooting their phone after making these changes. For me I did not have to reboot.
I also thought that this may increase my hspa+ data usage, but it was hardly noticeable last night.
Yea...you're actually getting terrible battery life smarty pants

my battery drainage varries based on the rom I'm running... best battery has come from UnNamed and SHOStock.
I got a full day on 2.3.4 no way I'm switching to 2.3.6.

This happens with custom roms too. It is the wifi bug that Entropy512 noted in the other thread.
I'm getting around 20 hours on unnamed ROM with the mentioned wifi sleep policy setting. Is this good? I read my rss feeds like 5-6 times a day, make about 1 hour of phone calls, read autoguide forums like 5-6 times as well. I think it's ok?

[Q] Android OS bug on ICS ROMs?

I'm loosing my mind! Almost every ROM/Kernel i've tried so far is seeing some serious battery drain due to the Android OS service @ 50%+.
Is this normal?!?! I don't use my phone much but I keep having to charge it twice daily. I've also calibrated the battery using the unlimited amount of guides and apps, but no go.
So far i'm trying all the AOKP ROMs and they all do the same thing, even with different kernels, different CPU scaling governor like ondemand, smartassv2 and hydra.
I think i'm going crazy,

Your phone isnt going into deep sleep. You see it on the blue line under the discharging graph.
Are you using live wallpaper?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
I bought batterystats and just not sure how to read it. I've created a dump file from it and attached here.
I'm not using any live wallpapers, and have downloaded very few programs such as doubletwist, chrome beta, battery calibration, dropbox, fasterfix, go launcher, team viewer and titanium backup. But even without those apps I was still seeing battery drain.
Delete all contents on usb storage except for music and videos.Wipe cache and dalvik.Restart phone.Let it settle for a couple of minutes.Should be ok.
I did that and now I wait. I'll report back tomorrow hopefully with good news.
I noticed that with CPU Spy shows that one of the Unused CPU states is Deep Sleep before so I'll check that out after this.

You have got same crazy apps running in the background. If your not hitting deep sleep you have a serious problem. Another thing to clear is media storage .
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
After running the kernel cleaner script, wiping data/cache/dalvik etc, I installed Wanam's newest ROM JHLP9, and now no more Android OS keeping the phone up from deep sleep.
It seems to me that all of the AOKP ROMs have some serious battery drain issues, or just bad luck.

Why is my phone awake so much.

This is bone stock with no apps. Just got the phone yesterday. I unplugged it at 100% and went to bed.

Think so? I don't remember my last phone waking up so many times. It looks like each wakeup was short but a lot of them. I well ill see how it lasts throughout the day.

Maybe..... Because you had wifi on and have yet to tone down the sync settings. And since wifi is on its waking to since pretty often.
But the real problem probably is that the phone is brand new it takes a few days for battery reporting to calibrate properly. After a few days im sure you'll be fine.
