I am fed up of using sony's stock ICS. I have also used the sony's stock based roms. All of them have the same problem.
I CANNOT PLAY HD or any high demanding GAMES. Phone reboots or hangs during gameplay.
I used the stock GB after buying the phone for like 5 months. Every single HD game I threw at it ran well. So guys, I am asking your opinion, GB OR ICS.
If GB, stock ROM OR custom rom?
Thanks in advance.

if u prefers continue playing games u can flash back to GB... ICS doesn't suppots HD games....
if gaming is more important than function n features ..
than you should go with clean n tweak stock gb ..
it's much more stable

I'd suggest PlayStation Vita.

Now i am pretty sure this is already a common problem, at least many of us have our phone ruin by the 2.1 update:
see this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831658
It seem that the 2.1 update cost some problem with those with defective motherboard by surfacing them.
Will this happen to gingerbread? assuming that gingerbread use more resources then 2.1 or since it is design for higher grade phones.
never know what type of problems might surface from this upgrade. I don't think SE even do that much testing before release these.
At worst the 2.3 update will fold space and time itself and cause the device to execute Ctrl-Alt-Kill the user.
Who know's maybe it's all just to meltdown the device for more sales.
Then again i am super paranoid.. so rather make the assumptions yourself.
The custom roms are faster that this. I've 2.2.1 moded wb rom by me and tuning by my, backstab without any lag and all other games to, dungeon efenders to. I never will update my phone to official 2.3. So lot of work with rom for games.
This not possible, the google owner say gingerbread no require great hardware, if you use froyo can use GB, this is tales from operators to sell more. Or deficients terminals.

I'm running MIUI Gingerbread on my phone, and it's even faster then 2.2.1! Just some little bugs, camera...

Why scrolling on ICS roms (sammy and aosp) are worse than on Gingerbread? It really sucks. I just don't get it since ICS is supposed to have hardware acceleration and all. It stutters a lot and is not as smooth as gb. I've been using paranoid rom for some time now and I've tried almost everything available on xda and while ICS has clear advantages over gb, scrolling is not one of them. I just went back to cm7 just to make sure (it'd been a long time since I'd used it and I didn't remember very well) and scrolling is waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy better. Isn't it possible to make ics scrolling better? Am I missing some config or tweak that fixes this?
ICS has only recently been shipped out, give Samsung some time and they'll iron out these things

I can only agree. The scrolling in ICS on Galaxy S2 is poor. It is stuttering and this makes it unpredictable and very unpleasant to look at. The latest (XWLPG) firmware doesn't help at all. In my view, ICS is a beta product due to this single flaw. It may be functional, but not as good as GB good.
I am therefore running GB again.

As they said - "TO EACH IS OWN". it really is a preference for the user if they want ICS or GB. Feature wise, ICS offers a lot more than GB. Stability wise, yes its GB. Just my two cents
Agreed. The scrolling sucks. Stutter, stu stu stutter...
I never knew how bad scrolling could be until these stock-based Samsung ICS ROMs came out. As you lift your finger off the screen, the tracking is way too sensitive and sometimes this causes the scrolling to go flinging off into the opposite direction, or too far in the same direction you were traveling before you lifted your finger. This isn't necessarily an ICS problem, because CM9 and AOKP based ROMs on the SGS2 don't suffer from this issue, so it's obviously something Samsung is doing. Changing kernels and playing around with different touch sensitivity / vitalij settings doesn't really help. I'll be curious to see if the stock-based ROMs on the SGS3 do the same thing.
I'm having the exact same problem. Tried everything from pure stripped down ICS ROMS to heavily customized ones and the scrolling sucks as compared to GB. It's a shame the UI experience is worse on ICS when it is the biggest factor in user experience. The SGS2 has very powerful hardware (even by today's standards) and shouldn't stutter while simply scrolling between homescreens or app menus. It really just ruins the experience for me.
Any new on the next android update? I hope they're not stopping at 4.0.4 cus there's a lot more to be done.

It has nothing to do with samsung. It's ICS itself. Using custom non-samsung ICS roms (even pure google ICS experience ones) stutters just as much.

I'm using XX series of ROMs and with exception of the first one (LPQ) scrolling is perfect, especially on XXLPW. I read somewhere on this forum that Samsung implemented different scrolling engine on ICS ROMs so actually we shouldn't much compare these two stock ROMs families. ICS was supposed to behave a little different from the beginning. Anyway, I've noticed the differences in scrolling mechanism on ICS but cannot say single bad word about its fluency nor speed.

Glad you liked! Funny thing is I never even used GB on my S2. Brought my used one home from the shop in early Jan, flashed an early version of CM9 and never looked back Now I'm a devout Slim ICS user. Highly recommended.

I have only used official samsung roms and ICS stutters a lot. Use GB and ICS next to each other and you can't help thinking ICS is a step back when it comes to scrolling.
I bought I9100G few weeks back and its working great. Upgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.6 and now i have No lagsand all great games like NOVA 3, shadowgun and other heavy games are working flawlessly. Plus i am getting great backup times as well.
But the two questions that are in my head nowadays is that
1) Is it worth flashing (Indian) ICS 4.0.3 on my S2G ? will it give me benefits like better battery backup, better 3D game performances and others? can someone provide with the changelog or the features that anyone noticed when they upgraded to 4.0.3?
2) Will flashing void my warranty?
Waiting for replies .. Thanks

If you are happy with gb then stay with it. Many users including me are facing 3d performance problems with ics and many other problems.
Even cm9 is having problems with cam and 3d performance.
So u should stay with gb. Ics is nothing. You can easily having ics UI by using launchers on Google play .
Again, gb is good enough for u to stick with it.
PS : flashing it won't void your warranty.

In gb : I have no problem at all.
Games like mc3, nova 3, asphalt work well. HD video played very smooth.
In stock ics : bad 3d performance, heating up easily, drop signal, some lag but acceptable when play HD video.
In cm 9 : normal 3d performance. Sometime heats up. Drop signal sometimes. A lots problem with camera like focus .... HD video is very laggy, can't watch it.
But in cm9, UI is smoother and you have horse power kernel to play with. U can oc CPU and gpu ....
Your decision to flash it or not.

Just wait for a rooted stock rim. Besides drop is already set to create an update based in official sprint firmware.

What's the ROM scene like right now? I've been out of the loop for a while. I currently have a ICS rom installed running ADW launcher and it's a bit laggy that I remember the gingerbread roms to be. Any recommendations for an ICS that runs as well as gingerbread?

All of the ICS roms based on the VM leak run perfectly, for me at least. Killer battery life. I haven't seen any roms based on the Sprint release yet, but there really shouldn't be much difference.

Compared to the GB ROMs, the ICS ones are all a little slow. They are definitely quicker than stock, but lag compared to GB. They are getting better though.

I noticed how RR3 was incompatible with the Razr (I tried the jellybean leak, and cm10.1 (4.2.2)) so i got this .apk from another phone.
Requirements:
File manager, if not downloaded from phone
Approximately 1.7GB of free space, as listed on Playstore. (I'll be safe and go for 2GB)
Root not needed
Setup:
Simply download .apk, install the .apk, and download content.
(You may have to restart your device if you face graphics issues, such as transparent cars)
If you do not know how to install an apk. watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UOAw124y1s
Any issues please reply
P.S. I installed and downloaded content on cm10.1 (4.2.2)
I can also confirm it works, just did like you some days ago (I was on D-Wiz 3.0.2 ROM at that time).

RR2 did cost money but RR3 is free. RR3 is a freemium game so its based of off in game purchases, so lets say after racing for a while my oil needs to be changed i either wait 5 minutes or buy the RR3 currency with real money.
Omg, this is just so addictive that it makes me whanna spend 500 bucks to get all the cars.... Not!
But Still, this game rock! Ty op!

I had this problem, but was solved using D-Wiz rom (JBX 2.0.3). I guess it was due to the max frequency been to low, so the phone couldn´t handle the graphics and downsampled specs.
It works with stock JB

Works, but
It works in official VZW JB 4.1.2 software, but there is a problem; Sound and image quality.
Ive always got an sound echo while playing. It really confused me.
My english is bad....Or even worse than bad....
A freakin question.. haha
I got an annoynig thing that, randomly, when the game's loading a track it CLOSES itself.. and i need to keep trying to get that track to load properly. And i also got these hiccups (sound)on stock 4.1.2! I use the RR3 Graphics to set the gfx to low to make the game running uber smooth.

I swear that i'm looking for some infos about using th D-Wiz rom plus the JBX kernel but i still have this doubt:
- I am on stock JB 4.1.2 (LATAM) plus root and BMM. If i backup my kernel via bmm i could restore it later? Cuz i dont know if the D-Wiz plus the JBX kernel will work straight after the flash process. And the last time that i tried changing the rom (from ICS to European JB) i almost bricked my device.
I am really looking forward using the D-Wiz ROM plus the JBX kernel, but i read on the D-Wiz topic that this ROM is meant only for people with ICS Kernel!
i download all data
when i start the game after 1 sec i got push out
i think rr3 dont match with xt910
playing real Racing 3 for long time , good
