Stock Battery mv when full - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

As the title days. I bought the spare battery and wall charger from sprint for $41 and after 2 min after I turned on the battery I decided to check what mv it was at. Was at 4255mv. I bought it cause I usr phone constant especially on my bike rides and coming from the Evo I know now that batteries Def have so many charges till battery performance goes down.this way I van go from 100รท till phone dies swap out and out fresh one in. Every time you hook up the charger even for a sec its a battery charge cycle.

[Q] Battery Discharges After Full Charge

So I have an odd problem I've never seen on any of my cell phones before. I charged my phone today using the charging cable and USB wall adapter that came with my EVO 3D. I noticed that once it got to 100%, it started to discharge while still plugged in. The notification light stayed green, and under Settings > About Phone > Battery, the Battery status showed fully charged. So I went under SetCPU about an hour later and went into Info > Battery, and the battery level had dropped down to 94% even though plugged in. So what's up with this? The only things I can think of is that either I have a defective device (which I want to return anyway for the dead pixels), a bad charging cable, a bad or uncalibrated battery, or somehow my device was consuming more power than what was being supplied to it by the charger.
Anybody else have this issue before? I'm really thinking about swapping out my phone for another one before my 30 days are up. And by the way, do you think I'd have to pay a restocking fee if I want to get a replacement phone? I have all the original packaging still.
The charger just isn't charging after it hits 100%. Which saves your battery from overcharging. If you connect the cable again after taking it off it will continue charging. This has not negatively affected my battery life. Which is sitting at 50% after 15 hours.

This is normal behavior on Evo 4g and Evo 3d. Supposedly prolongs battery life...
It drops down to about 95 percent then charges to 100 then down to 95 and so on. Its bad for the battery to charge after it has reached 100 percent. so it has to drain a little before being charged again.

So, say I leave my phone plugged in all day, will it continuously drop down and then recharge itself after it reaches a certain point?
Yeah... helps keep the cells even within the battery

How far down will it drain before recharging? VintageSin said his phone is at 50% after sitting plugged in for 15 hours. I'm wondering if it's possible to bring the battery down to 0%.
You misunderstood his post.hes saying the charging method has not affected his phone as its still at 50% after 15hrs.

Im assuming the phone is unplugged because the phone starts to recharge the battery at 95%.I have also noticed this cycling.

It drops to about 95% before charging again. The 50% you seen mentioned was only on battery power.

Hmm... interesting. That would explain why my battery is down between 95% to 100% whenever I wake up in the morning after leaving my phone plugged in overnight.

I think I might have been screwed

I got an Evo 3d off craigslist. It is 1.5hboot
How long should it take to charge? My last HTC phone the inspire charged in an hr or so. My last phone before this was the samsung epic 4g. I thought HTC charged faster? Right now it charges at the same rate 3hrs
Should I ask for refund or take it to sprint store?
mine doesn't even charge in three hours lol.

It depends on how you are charging it. If its completely dead and your charging it using a laptop or computer it will take longer than charging it using a wall outlet.
The evo had a larger battery and there is no way it will charge from dead to fully charged in an hour ..just be patient ..wait for the green light
I just use a separate battery charger and cycle 3 batteries. So I always have a fresh one waiting.

The 1.5hboot is the only thing you got screwed for
But yeah, the battery does take pretty long to charge. Also if you didn't know, when it gets to 100% it depletes automatically to 95% and then charges again to 100% and keeps doing that till you take it out the charger.
From completely dead, using the wall charger, it takes about 3.5 to 4 hours for mine. This was before I bought the 2 Anker battery + external charger combo. Now I rarely have to plug in my phone except to top off the remaining 10% on the OEM battery that the external charger doesn't charge.
Thanks guys
Can you post a link to those anker batteries?
I don't even know how long mine takes I just keep it on the charger while sleeping, and when I wake up, it's full.

My phone takes about 6 hours to charge completely ... but then again.... I have an uber battery
from what others have said its normal mine takes about 3 hrs from 1%
i use batter indicator widget (paid) and it shows how long it will take to charge usually is correct too.
From dead to full mine take about 2 hours from the outlet... So i guess it varys....
EVO3D seems to charge diffrent then other phones. Mine will get to 90 percent ish in 90-120mins, that other 10 percent seems to take an eternity to get to. I think as the phone gets full the charging slows down to a very low trickle charge.

Charging Time

How long does it take before your batteries are fully charged?
First, need to start by stating it seems the charger that came with my S3 may need replacing, as the phone doesnt charge when I connect it. I connected my Note's charger though and it started charging.
I let my battery drain to 1% and started charging, its been 2 and a half hours and its at 47%.
Does that sound normal? My Note gets fully charged in about 3 and a half hours.

Have you tried the original charger & cable again after you got a little juice in the battery from Note's charger? Also to determine if its charging slowly, were you using the phone for various things while it was charging??? How long has your screen been on while charging, because that is the biggest battery sucker on a Samsung device.
Just tried using the original charger and no luck. Weird thing is the S3 seems to think it.is just connected via USB as the USB connection prompt appears whenever I try to use that charger, but still doesnt charge.
Im using the Note's charger now and it is charging again.
The entire time the phone was sleeping, screen was not on.

Sounds like either a defective charger, or a defective battery/phone. If you have a warranty, I advise exchanging your device through that method.
Thanks went to Samsung and turns out the cable is defective.
How long does it take for your S3s to fully charge coming from little to no charge?

I never leave mine till 1%. Usually at around 20% and it takes 4-5 hours. Is it better to leave till 1%?
Also how fast are you depleting a? Had a galaxy s and a iphone 4 before and the s3 seems too deplete a little faster.

Spare Batteries and Holding Charge.

Have always wondered this about smart phones and batteries. If I buy a spare battery and charge it fully then take it out of the phone. Does it dissipate at all? And if so at what sort of rate? Cheers
Eventually.

Li-ion batteries will hold a charge for quite some time. I have 2 spares for my fone and I use a dock to charge them.. generally only use 2 a day but sometimes the 3 on a busy day and always got 100% showing when I change the battery out.. you can Google the battery university there is a link on here but I can't remember where it is. That explains a lot of stuff .. hope this helps

I use two battery's and never have problem with it losing charge sometimes I don't use the spare battery for 3-4 days and still get 100% battery when I swap them over.
Hope that helps.
Pretty much will start to loose change the moment you take them out of the charger but still still have a lot of juice in them weeks later. Normally when you buy a battery it has about 50 or 60% charge already and think about how long that has been away from a charger ... shipping time, time in a warehouse, then in the shop etc.
No worth worrying about unless you aren't going too charge them for 6+ months. In fact I had a spare for my sensation which sat in a drawer for 3 months and it still had over 90% charge from full.
Then again I got a cheap tablet which the store owner said had been in the shop for a year and that battery was almost flat, like 3%.
It would have left the factory some time before that with around 60% charge so it will have taken far more than a year, maybe as much as 18 months, to go completely flat. Also remember it would have been a new battery which hasn't been thru a few charge cycle to reach maximum efficiency.

How to check stock battery charge cycles?

Been using it since August last year. How long will it last?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Depends how you use it and how you charge it, keep it cool and recharge outside the phone when it gets to 10%, don't leave it fully charged for long periods - it might last a year before you lose 20% capacity.
You can't test it, other than roughly measuring charge & discharge times. If in doubt, replace it - or buy a spare to swap over with a desk charger.
Anyway, what percentage should I store it if I don't plan to use it for awhile?
