Wi-fi Connectivity (Power Saving Mode) - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm refering to this connectivity issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26987997&postcount=80
This power saving mode is driving me insane! It keeps turning back on by itself.
Is there any toggle, rom, anything to make our lives easier other than having to go to service mode and manually turning it off all the time?

Bluetooth does not pick up after turning flight mode off

When you turn flight mode on and then later turn it back off, the bluetooth functionality doesn't appear to work. Its turned on, but when a call comes through it doesn't pick up. Does anyone else have thise problem with the XDA2? Is it yet another 'feature'?
Exactly the same on the MDA2.
BT is ON, but the BT headset mode remains disabled, so each time you switch off the flight mode, you have to turn on the headset mode. Really stupid IMHO.
I don't think this is a "problem" or a bug.
Turning on flight mode means there should not be any Radio activity. Therefore BT Radio will be turned off as well. It makes sense.
It remembers your last BT Radio selection though. So, when the flight mode is off, BT Radio mode will resume like it was before flight mode, that is either OFF, ON or DISCOERABLE. The only thing that it doesn't remember is which profile was enabled. So you'll have to enable it when flight mode is off.

This is exactly what we were talking about...or at least is what I was TRYING to explain...IMHO is very stupid that it does not remember the profile that was enables, this means that every time we have to turn on the profile again...
Is it that when Flight Mode(phone) is switched ON, the bluetooth won't work.

well i would suppose so since places like in planes and on some hospitals where they fear interfearence from wireless devices like cellphones they see bluetooth the same way
i suppose that it should turn wifi off aswell
but what they are talking about is that when you turn flight mode back on the bluetooth stack dont recall some of it's settings
Cheers for the reply, forgive me if this sounds stupid but to re-enable the bluetooth profile after switching flight mode back off, do you use Ultra Profile or is it done some other way?

[Q] Auto Airplane Mode

I don't know why does my phone go to airplane mode automatically when signal is poor? The problem is that It doesn't turn off airplane mode when signal becomes strong again.
Can anyone help me?

Options for automated airplane mode

I was going to try and post in devoper section, but I can't yet. I have an issue with battery usage, where I work, inside at least, the cell service is bad. I was wondering if anyone has heard of or can even make an app that would automate the airplane mode, while maintaining wifi.
I was thinking if there was no service for more than a certain time, it automatically enable airplane mode and re-enable the wifi, until it is manually turned off, maybe by a widget. If anyone has any knowledge of this, please give me an idea, I'm using 60% of my battery just searching for service.
I am rooted running hyperdrive rls14.
Airplane mode automatically disables all wireless services. Why don't you just disable mobile data when you get to work? You'll still be able to receive text messages.
Also, for future reference, the developer's section isn't for questions, but a place for developers to share their work. This thread should really be in Q&A.

I have a similar issue with where I work. However, I just turn on airplane mode and then turn on wifi. You can have wifi on while being in airplane mode. It is just two or three button presses, so I don't think it is that big of an issue. When you leave your job, just turn airplane mode off...
Phoneweaver
That's your answer. Set up a profile to turn on airplane mode and wifi at whatever time you want. Set up other profiles as you like. It will launch apps, toggle GPS (if you have secholeutils), mobile data on/off, volume levels, change ring tones, notification tones... pretty much anything you want.
You can always use NFC to trigger it too. I have a NFC tag on my desk at work the puts my phone into "work mode"

Wi-Fi can no longer connect after wake up

After the recent 148 update, my HAM2 Wi-Fi can no longer connect after wake up. The turn on button will suck for a while, then reset to off state. Only way to fix is turn on flight mode and then turn off.
Anyone has similar issue or just me?

mine does not connect (automatically) to WiFi after rebooting, even though WiFi is enabled in config.
I have to tap on WiFi button twice (disconnect and then connect again), after that HAM2 "restores" the WiFi connection.
Though, I don't have such problem after wake up (as in your case).
When my issue happens, can not turn on Wi-Fi at all, even after reboot. The only way to fix it is turn on flight mode and turn off.
Now I just change Wi-Fi sleep policy to never, this seems to be fine. But with some extra battery drain though.
