Ive got the computer for this Process finally I just need help in the process I need someon to type out some Simple steps to do this No Unkown forces steps dont help me there two detailed and plus there not easy
The first thing is do is make sure you have all the drivers installed, fastboot and adb. Then make sure you can boot linux/ubuntu. Then run unknownforces program in linux/ubuntu until it says waiting for device. If you can do that, all you need to do is brick.
Have you started the process yet, what have you done so far.
I know it seems intimidating but when you're done you'll see how simple it is.
Edit... Your signature says you're s-off, if that's the case then you don't need to use unknowns method.

If you're s-off then all you have to do is flash a pg86img of any other hboot. You do not have to do the downgrade method
You're cdma, right?
If you're cdma, ill hook you up with hboot 1.4 or 1.04 engineering hboot

I seem to be in an unusual state with my phone. I downgraded to hboot 1.4 with the software downgrade method, but I can't seem to get root or s-off now. I've tried revolutionary, and it says failed to get root (as I'd expect since I don't think it was made for 2.17) and I found and ran ControlBear, and it says I need root (I think ControlBear is for the wire s-off though). I can't seem to find any steps here though, and would appreciate any advice on where to go now. What step am I missing? I want to get root, and clockwork so I can install a custom rom or two.
Or would this belong in the Q&A thread?

you have to be htc unlocked with a stock rooted rom to run controlbear
But, I have hboot 1.4, would I be able to downgrade to 2.08?

Yes I think, when I followed unknownforce's guide to downgrade there was a step to run the 1.13 RUU.EXE ( version b4 2.08) and then use revolutionary...so the phone will have hboot 1.4 and software vertion 1.13....
My Device is with HBOOT 1.49.0018 unlocked through HTC Dev, with 4EXT recovery and rooted LeeDrOiD_3D_V5.4-Final-GB. I want to make S-Off because ICS roms are not working (after flashing the rom and rebooting the device nothing happens). If i want to use the Revolutionary Tool i have to downgrade the HBoot to 1.49.0008, the other way is the wire trick, which I think I could not do because the device is unlocked through HTC Dev.
My question is do I have any options except downgrading the HBOOT and if not - which method would be better for me. Is it safe to downgrade or something can go wrong?
Thank you in advance!
I personally would recommend the downgrade method. Flashmaniac's tool worked flawlessly for me. You can also do the wire trick, unlocking with htcdev doesnt make a difference. As always when you are flashing something on your phone theres a risk of things going wrong. Just read through the post and get to know what you are about to do before attempting it.
If you are attempting the downgrade method do make sure you have one of the CID's in the list
Ok, so i wanted to downgrade my hboot so i can get s-off using revolutionary's method.
I followed exactly the same steps listed on this website http://htcevohacks.com/htc-evo-3d-hacks/how-to-downgrade-to-hboot-1-49-0007-on-htc-evo-3d-gsm/ (You might already know this guy) and it didn't went really good to be honest..
It didn't downgrade my hboot and atm my phone is Relocked and i have no clue how to unlock it as it was before. Because of that i can't exit out of bootloader nor go to recovery.
Looking forward to your suggestions (My device was rooted and unlocked before i did this and i had hboot 1.53.0007)
Thats actually flashmaniacs tool which doesnt downgrade 1.53 hboot. your only option is to do the wire trick. follow the steps on this thread:

I have an Evo 3d with Virgin Mobile and I desperately want CyanogenMod 10.1
I am rooted, s-off, unlocked, and on hboot 1.57. To flash CM 10.1, you must be on an hboot version lower than 1.57. Is there a way to downgrade my hboot without reverting to s-on? because every link I find warns that you must be s-on, or you will irreversibly brick your phone.
I tried putting the PG86IMG.zip file with hboot 1.40 on my sd card and rebooting into bootloader, but I get an error message (see attached picture)
Please help, and Thank you in advance.

I'm on Sprint and by all means I'm no expert. I followed ramjet73's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438
and was able to switch between hboot's version. Download QADERSO-V2-VM.zip and unpack to C drive. Install HTCDriver3.0.0.007 then open command prompt and do "cd C:\QADERSO\Root"
Then follow this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32259533&postcount=60

Thanks for the reply. I tried that method too and it didn't give me an error message, but when I booted into bootloader it still showed 1.57. Do you remember if you were locked when you downgraded? I think I read somewhere that you had to be but I don't really want to try it because relocking my phone will wipe everything.
And thanks again

I'm not sure where you got the hboot you are trying to flash but it looks like it's only setup for the Sprint CID and not Virgin Mobile.
Since you are already S-OFF you can follow the procedure in this guide and the hboots linked from that post are setup for both Sprint and VM CID's.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It worked!!
I recently bought my new Evo 3D from eBay. As far as I can tell, it is in perfect shape. I was hoping to flash it to Page Plus and was dismayed when I realized how impossible the rooting process looked. I began with downgrading my 1.58 HBOOT to 1.40. Now I am attempting to flash the 1.13 RUU so I can finally move on in this process, but every time I attempt to flash it (or any other RUU), I get the error, "Error [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR." Now most fastboot commands do not work, and my phone bootloops with the stock ROM. Any idea how to fix it?
I used the juopunut bear wire trick for s-off so excuse me if I'm a little ignorant here with the downgrade method. Once you are down to hboot 1.40 (which sounds like you were successful with) can't you use the revolutionary s-off tool?
Once s-off you can easily run any ruu but I guess I don't understand why you need to downgrade even further to s-off, when revolutionary (I thought) works with hboot 1.40 and 1.30

As I understand I can't use Revolutionary without booting into Android (since it needs ADB), which is currently impossible because of the bootloop.
I should also point out that HTCDev unlock fails for me. On hboot 1.58 the fastboot commands are successful, but I am never presented with the unlock dialog on the phone. On hboot 1.4 most fastboot commands fail. Also, I can easily restore to stock by flashing a PG86IMG which includes hboot 1.58.

So far, in every case I've seen, running the latest RUU has solved the bootloader unlock issue for people. I would run the 1.58 RUU and see if you can unlock the bootloader. Then go from there.
Or as I saw mentioned in the other thread, use the PG86IMG version of the RUU or extract it yourself from the exe. Flashing through the bootloader does not perform a cid check.

So far, I have yet to have any success despite flashing many RUUs. I took a break for quite a while, but decided I may try again. I am downloading now the 2.08 RUU, which one thread suggested.

If I remember correctly, the HTCDev unlock doesnt work for the earlier bootloaders. It says so on the very first page when its walking you through the steps. I could be wrong but you may wanna keep that in mind
