Dude, stop pushing people to buy an iPhone, I know you're using sarcasm but you got the update, and you have no reason to wait anymore and get worried, so you decided to mock every other user here that doesn't have verzion version of razr?
You don't feel the pain they feel, you should stop mocking people around.

I didn't feel one iota of pain before the update rolled out. I didn't buy a phone only to hate it and rage on the internet until it was updated to my satisfaction. My Razr was great new. It's been great. It is great. Before and after the update.

I'm sorry you feel that way. And I want to make amends. I will now review all your postings here on XDA
~snip~
OK, back! After reviewing your XDA activity, I cannot be certain you even own a Razr. All I have seen in your postings is a continual bashing of Motorola. In fact, from the steady stream of vitriolic content you've issued, one might conclude that you, sir, are the troll and have an agenda in play... and it's likely not simply wanting an update. Especially when said update is readily available to flash onto the phone you claim to own.
I also find it odd that your signature never says "sent from my Razr".

I do have posts when my razr mentioned in the end, I just usually use my tablet to surf on xda app.
No, I'm not a troll... I do feel a pain about Motorola's behavior, and that's why I'm so negative..
I love android cause its high level os with a lot of options and etc, and iphone not..
And I love my razr, and that's why I want to install -official- update on it, so it would have more options, supported apps and etc.
If you don't believe me that I have a razr, send me a pm and I would take a picture of my razr.
I had amount of some troll massages cause I lost my mind, like" omggg ios is out ", but I did try to make it look like a joke.
Usally when I complaining, I also insert a little joke on motorola, so it would not be such a threat.
And I'm playing here as a rebel who hates motorola after her many promises and disappointing, if I were hate my own device, I were always say" I would sell my phone if I won't get the update. ", so no, it isn't true, and I would not sell it even if motorola doesn't want to update us.
I'm enjoying my device, and I want to improve my phones abilities by upgrading into a new Android os, so I could enjoy my razr even more.
And I don't need a windows 8 phone/tablet, cause correctly I have it on my pc, the costumer preview, and I would not like to have a windows 8 on my tablet or phone.
I hope you readed it all, and won't call me a troll or someone who dislikes his own device... That's time, I even didn't rage just for you.

Fair enough. But just remember- ICS development is a very involved process and clearly the final development stages found some issue with the Euro release. I'm sure they're working hard to fix it rather than release something this major with a known problem.

can anybody erase this tread or at least close it, i dont think it fits on xdadevelopers i just loose my time to read something like that

I'm with the OP.
As an owner of a GSM RAZR for the last 6 months, I love the hardware, but the support from Moto is hopeless.
As an ex-Milestone owner I guess I should have known what I was letting myself in for, but I was suckered into the talk of ICS coming soon, way back in December 2011.
Sure, I could mess around and use a "leaked" ROM, but at the first sniff of a defect that requires warranty work, I'd be screwed by Motorola UK. They said Q2 2012, and that was a long enough wait, but they failed to deliver.
I'll keep my RAZR until my 12 month contract is up, then move on to something from another manufacturer - most likely Samsung. Motorola just aren't interested in the world outside the USA, and the very least the rest of the world can do is return the disinterest and stop buying their products.

[RUMOR] ICS coming to the Photon!

My friend works at a Sprint store and he just told me that the Motorola rep came in and told him that the Photon is getting ICS "Q2, April, May, or June". I know they haven't officially announced it but this is a good sign.

As a Sprint Employee for quite some time, I have learned to take what the manufacture reps' say with a grain of salt. As focused as they may come across, a lot of them seemed pumped with cocaine and talk to hear themselves! Hoping that this is true, I am still very happy with the CM9 development and how far it has come and dont see myself switching to any other ROM.
Also you have to take in consideration that motorola has **NEVER** kept their word about any update or any promise they make. they are always months to sometimes a year behind what they promise us. all with a smile on their face. i do know this phone will or should get ICS considering it is still one of the best phones on the market. i am actually about to get this phone in a few days when my tax money comes in. it was either this or the EVO 3D.
plan on a fully stable CM9 ICS rom before motorola decides to release their official version.
I dont want a bloated Moto sandwich. I'll wait out cm9.

while i could care less about getting official ics, it means we will get source and blobs we need for camera and hw acceleration... which leaves...? 4g?
and id really take that timeline with a grain of salt, i mean look at the razr ics leak.. our cm9 build has more working better, and tahts the device they promised updates to first :/ im thinking that all the manufactuers were thinking that ics would be a breeze and are finding out differently

Pretty much this. While I'm sure its possible that developers could rebuild the code necessary for camera and hw acceleration (I think they did this for the Incredible's ICS build) pulling from source would definitely be easier (this is how the Xoom builds got it).
That timeline is hilarious though. Vague as possible and completely useless due to Moto's rep with promises.

I know this is discussion forum, just sayin is all because there are a numerous threads like this which degrade the overall quality of the forum.
I'll believe that the Photon is getting ICS when I see it in writing. Btw why would Moto reps be going to Sprint stores just to spread rumors?
To make the Sprint people spread said rumors and sell more phones.

Hi, a friendly question. How do we get "fully stable" (e. g. camera and 4G just to mention 2 very big ones) before a Moto release? Camera maybe from Atrix? But 4G has to come from a Sprint release it appears. "fully" is really broad and in some cases not achievable without official binaries - so, respectfully, be careful with that word my friend!
Tnx

I have done this lol Just grab any of the NFC apps from the play store and program a tag with your number. When the device reads it it will open up and display it. Better yet create a tag with a contact card in it complete with name and number
hahah thats what i want to do. just make it nice and pretty and run up on a girl and be like "aye bay bay, you got that NFC?"
... i swear this will be the way i meet my wife. hahaha
if a girl you are interested in knows what nfc is, has a phone with nfc, and is willing to take your info via your nfc card, you take her straight to the chapel. :good:

the idiocy would actually fall on you for not picking up the humor/sarcasm from other posts that have been madeand with that being said, i'll just break it down for you...
i WAS in fact making it a joke on the "current state of pop culture" by writing with the vernacular of people who use the term in their everyday vocabulary. the word SWAG is being used in a sense to describe the boost of confidence someone would feel by getting new clothes, a new haircut, car, phone, etc. the sarcasm was played on the approach in which one would hand out their number to a female in style, yet doing it in a geeky way. i wanted to still ask the question because i was curious to know, but thought it was something that was more humorous than serious. i think there would be a higher chance of someone like you (taking things on an internet forum more serious than they should be taken and bashing the person because he either just doesn't get it or just wants to feel superior by trying to correct someone) bashing the op (me) if i were to start a thread saying...
"is it possible to put my phone number on an NFC chip and let girls use their phones to get my contact instead of me doing it the old fashion way with a pen a paper"
so i decided to make it a joke, yet get a real answer.
so if you want to have the last word then go ahead and reply back, but i didn't start this thread to create an argument with someone i don't know over the internet about something that's really almost pointless. I'm not going to reply back and would much rather see this thread be closed/deleted because it's hard to watch something that could put a smirk on someones face be turned into an argument because someone just couldn't get the joke.

Not to sound mean or anything, but if you take a look around the threads that have been posted to this board, you're going to find A LOT of feedback about what people have to say about their purchase.
You're in an EVO 4g LTE forum.. You should totally go against everyone on here and get an SIII.
Never understood asking on here. Read the forum, watch reviews, go play with it at the Sprint store. You have a brain, don't make us choose.
Here's a good analogy... Do you ask random people on the street how well some underwear may fit? Nope, I sure as hell wouldn't. You're best course of action is to try it for yourself. Now... That said, you can't test drive underwear and bring it back if you don't like it within 14 days (well, maybe you get that option with Wal-Mart). But you can go to a Sprint store, try the phone out, even buy it and return it in 14 days if you don't like it.
As the person above said, don't let others make the decision for you.

I wanted to see how you guys felt with it on a day to day basis, but since some of you still have sand in that vag I guess there really is no point in asking without unecessary comments like yours.
I never asked for someone to choose for me.

I'd definitely browse these forums for issues people are having to see if any are dealbreakers for you. I'm enjoying this phone quite a bit, myself.
Great phone. Go get it.
Additional feedback can be found on the hundreds of threads in this forum.

Ummm, your thread title states "Should I buy this phone?"
Please tell me how this isn't asking for help with your choice?
What I was simply stating is that there's no need to create another discussion thread asking if YOU should buy a specific phone. You should definitely go and check it out in a store, read reviews online, watch review videos on YouTube, and read through the existing threads in the EVO 4G LTE General board. There's no need to create another thread basically asking if you should buy the phone or not.

I really like this phone. I came from the EVO 3d as well and also had the OG EVO. I have to say that I am happy with ICS and sense 4.0. Now I am rooted running Rejuvenated ROM which is just a modified stock ROM and I am happier with stock modified than aroma installer and crazy roms from the 3D. My buddy has the SGIII and its a nice phone as well but I like Sense a little better and the feel of this phone. Its nice and solid and the screen looks crisp with the Super LCD. I hope that helps! Go to Sprint and get a hold of the phones and I think it will help you make your decision.

Thank you man, this is what I was wondering for. How's the battery life for ya?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
Battery life is a huge improvement over any iteration of other evos and most phones period..the removable battery complaint is not an issue for me..unless it dies .then ill just get a new phone..the phone is everything you want it to be..but be warned multitasking is broken ..that is my only hatred for.this device..other than that the camera , screen speed etc are great and the build.quality is top of the line
Im loving the phone I would say yes over the S3. I seen the S3 at the store and it just didn't seem like that big of a upgrade. If u can do some trading ya but not enough to use $200 on. Also don't worry about others, some act like they invented cellphones and every thread posted in XDA they have to chime in and tell you you're wrong like they own this forum. Some take it personal if they don't like the thread. Hope you get a new Evo soon!

You can get feedback by reading threads. There's tons of threads with opinions, facts, specs, etc. There's no need to create another thread asking someone to give you direct feedback. Just seems pretty lazy. You'd rather read a thread you create that's not necessary, and hope someone actually feels like giving you their opinion, instead of just spending a little time reading one of the hundreds of threads about the EVO 4G LTE. This is literally the most useless type of thread to create...
Not to mention, I wasn't being hostile. I was giving you pointers on the best way to reach a decision. You're the one that wanted to respond back like you did:

You all know your getting ICS right?
GSM just got official ICS 2 weeks ago...
Given, sprint will take a month to "sprintify" the new update, a few more weeks seems reasonable.
Yes. Of course. We are getting ics. It's just that they've said Early 2012. The. May. Then June. And now its July. And due to people making bull**** statements and making up rumors without any source. Like this guy who said they would give us an LTE and not give our EVO 3D ics.
So that's why whenever someone says CDMA, EVO 3D and ICS in the same sentence. You will get flamed.

Comments Withdrawn
I'll mention that I emailed [email protected] about 3 weeks ago with a VERY extensive wording for my frustration with their lack of response to this update. It's easier if I just put it in here:
To whom it may concern,
I know this isn't going directly to the office of Dan Hesse, CEO of Sprint. But my intentions are to make it go as far as I can to get some sort of results. I purchased the EVO 3D via pre-order through my local Sprint retailer, and was at the store the morning it was released before the store even opened to pick it up. It was a great device. I've been a fan of HTC for a very long time, and definitely enjoyed the features it had to offer. However, the luster eventually wore off as soon as Google had announced the Android 4.0 operating system. Hope was quickly restored when it was announced that my phone would be among the current phones out to get this new update.
I guess where I'm going with this is that, it's been enough time now. I've bit the bullet and purchased a new phone anyways because I had an upgrade available. I ended up purchasing the EVO 4G LTE, and have since given my wife my EVO 3D. It's still, to this day, not updated to Ice Cream Sandwich, and it's disappointing to think that I've purchased a phone, and not received any updates to its operating system, just security patches. And that the device was EOL'd so soon makes the taste even more bitter. To make matters worse, your Virgin Mobile pre-paid customers have now been passed down the phone from your post-paid customers, and it's been delivered with the Android 4.0 right out of the box.
I've been a long time customer of Sprint (Probably closer to 13 years now), and this isn't the first time I've been let down by updates to my phone. I know that you can only do as much as what HTC can let you do, but I know your development division has the update at this point, they're just adding the applications and doing testing (whatever that entails).
Anyways, this was just a message to say that this has been a continued let down not only to me, but the entire user base of the EVO 3D.
Thank you for your time.

Ha ha this is funny on Sprint's part...how can they avoid a "launch failure" at this point, they are coming in dropshot last, with a 2 week window to deliver what the REST of the world already has. If they deliver awesome, maybe we can get some new updates on the ICS ROMs that are already running so sweet. Don't oops this one Sprint, you're already looking like chumps.
Sprint has always been horrible with updates. Last time they had any credibility was with the Evo 4g and GB update so fast. That was only cause of the wild popularity with the phone and 4g itself, not anything else. We will get it when they think we should get it. Not before
I might end up with a new phone before this update. Is July and still no official ics yet, might as well forget ics and go straight to jb.

I hope HTC releases source codes soon after!
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
At this point how about we all just send them an email and tell them skip the update. Tell them we don't need no stinkin' ics, we'll just do it ourselves. The lack of support from the arse clowns at sprint is a joke, and i grow tired of begging for help from these idiots. If they just come through with the network vision updates is all we can hope for.
You are all misunderstood. We don't need anything from Sprint at this point. What we are waiting for is kernel source. That's it. And again we don't get that from Sprint. Another useless thread about an update that only stock users would care about... If your stock.. why are you even here?

[RANT] Growing slightly impatient....and realizing my mistake.

Buying Moto was a big mistake. Yes. I think I will now admit it. Literally NO updates and they treat you like Sh*T. Good going Moto. Not to mention the fact that the devs give it a miss. I don't blame them at all. When other major corps (HTC at least) have listened to their customers and unlocked their boot loaders and released their source code, what makes Moto so special and not follow suit. A while back they were nearly non-existent. Until Google bought 'em.
I am growing impatient as I slowly see the world progress towards faster and newer OSes and inspite of paying a bomb and buying killer hardware, have to be stuck with MotoBla and am at the mercy of Motorola. Hmmm...*checks if the logo behind isn't a bitten apple*
As if this wasn't enough, add to it CDMA/GSM confusion. Some really awesome ROMs out there for CDMA and we, the GSM lot, just helplessly watch as a third world country. No doubt the devs are working day and night on patches and ROMs...but the progress is visibly slow (for GSM that is).
On the other hand whatever brighter side is left, yes, the hardware and looks are killer. But now I think it's pointless.
Never again Moto. YES sir.
Comments welcome, positive criticism welcome too.
But if you are gonna reply, "Oh one more thread about bla bla..." I suggest you simply hit the back button and go help some noob.
This is my perspective on being with a Moto phone for less than a year.

Although all the repliers in this thread have valid points I have to agree with the op. I like the RAZR. Its got great build quality and features. The screen sucks balls and support from moto is disappointing. I am waiting until I can afford it and swapping to something else. Depending on what I can afford, anything from a nexus s to galaxy s3.
All this and I had a dell streak that I would happily have instead.

Joke mode off
I can understand op point of view, while the rar is amazing from the hw point of view, the part of being motorola is the one that lower it's value.
Probably my next phone will be not a motorola, unless they change their behavior. Maybe losing in a quarter almost what they lost in a year can make change their idea a bit
We can only hope. My view is that they won't change. I was victim of their dext update fail and they say once bitten, twice shy. I'll change that to twice bitten, never buy.

I understand the aggravation, but I don't understand why people find it necessary to post rants here. Xda is a development forum for developers, essentially your going to get a nod of agreement or flamed for littering the threads, why waste your energy? Why not voice your disappointment to the company that caused your grief. If Motorola and verizon's forums, Facebook, etc. we're filled with as many post with customer complaints as xda is they might do something about it just to shut us up.

Have you guys had phones like the DROID charge where you are left in the dust with crickets and barren desert for a dev scene and no updates at all?
You don't know how good you have it with this phone.
The phone you want is not available and it is a RAZR HD Nexus model.
I am extremely content with this phone.
Used to flash anything that came out for my Samsung phones to try and eek out a little extra performance. This phone doesn't need that.
SHVR MAXX
I have Epsilon V4 running on my gsm Razr. I have friends who have Galaxy and Nexus devices, among other premium devices. They care little about benchmarks and ROMs. They (We) worry more about email, some photo apps, social networking, some games, and business related apps. Hell I had to talk them into rooting and such. One thing they do care about is the "feel" that my razor has; its uniqueness, they grab it, fondle it, leet it rest on their hands and stare at the kevlar.
That being said, I don't think I want to buy a plastic telephone that develops cracks for no apparent reason. Furthermore, if time and business allow I am considering learning the related stuff to Android development. Not just for the challenge and fun, but for the very principle "If you want something done your way, you get to it."
Nobody forced me, or any adult for that matter, to obtain and keep this phone. If anybody is that unhappy with their device, I'd say it will be quite simple to sell it and get something one wants.
:good:
