As an iOS ex-user, I miss lots of apps that I used in iOS. One of the most important of them is Tweetbot.
I've been searching for a great Tweetbot replacement and the only tolerable ones that I found are Plume, Boid and TweetDeck. But I am being forced to use the terrible official client because of the push notifications. Those clients have some sort of "placebo" push, which is slower and is less battery-efficient.
So, there's my question: can I use another app to push Twitter mentions to my device? Personally, I've got 2 ideas: an app like Boxcar (available for iOS, developers say that they are working on an Android app, but it feels abandoned) or some way to redirect official Twitter's notifications to Plume when I tap on them on Notification Center.
Thanks!

I need access to full gmail (not simple html) through web interface. Gmail app and html simple don't work for me, because they ruin the organization and order of messages when compared to desktop interface.
I have tried Skyfire and it does load full Gmail interface, but it is painfully slow, consumes enormous amount of memory and loads cpu to 100%. Pretty much unusable.
I'm not sure if ajax (or gmail in particular) on android wouldn't run any better or if it is just a matter of finding the right software and setting.
I don't have a direct solution, but have you tried the other versions of gmail, stock email, and Sense email apps?
I'm using the ICS 4.0 version of gmail, and I like it a lot.
Search google for the apk.
They may have the layout and options you want.
Thank you for suggestion. I have tried to find something that works, but other than Skyfire (not useable) and Remote Desktop (quite uncomfortable), I couldn't find anything so far.
Here is my problem. I receive ton of emails everyday, I use several workstations to access emails, I sort, label and read them, reply from different workstations. Works great having the same screen on all the machines, no matter where I am. I can start my work on one and finish on the other without loosing track of what I was doing.
I would love to work on my emails using Flyer the same way, but as of right now it is very uncomfortable for me, simply because my mail boxes don't look the same on android.
For example I have one of the mail boxes set up to show important and unread first, next emails marked with specific labels (might have several labels), then everything else (important read, unimportant unread etc). This simple thing saves me a lot of time and I know what to do next regardless of what workstation I access my email from.
When I use GMAIL app on my flyer, my mail box looks like a mess in comparison to desktop version. I get lost there so bad that I miss what needs to be done next. At this point I decided not to use GMAIL app to access work email at all.
I have tried to get to my emails through Web Browsers with desktop user agent string, but it loads in plain HTML, hence I loose the order again.
Only Skyfire browser loads the full version of gmail, but as I have said earlier is consumes more than 200mb of ram and loads CPU to 100% and makes it pretty much unusable. Not sure if it is a problem just on my Flyer or if it is how ajax is done in Skyfire.
I'm hoping to find solution (browser with good ajax?) that would allow me to access full web interface. I was just wondering if anybody knows if such thing or add-on exists. I hope maybe when CHROME browser comes out they have the good ajax support.
I only need Twitter and Facebook ( G+ would be a bonus )
So far every application I use, regardless if it's seesmic, hootsuite or tweakdeck, does not work well.
Seesmic and Hootsuite does not have a unified wall for all tweets and status update like tweetdeck does.
Tweetdeck (and the modified "Tweakdeck") does not support full Facebook functionality. Sometimes I would be missing notification for certain tweets or post as well.
Seesmic does not allow one to view who has "liked" your post.
It is issues like this that annoys me since at times I cannot respond to friends or other people. Every app has to lack something. I cannot find an app does function like Facebook + Twitter. Somebody SIMPLY has to take out certain features.
I'm hoping for someone on XDA to prove me wrong. Any suggestions for a better social networking application?
I hope I'm just being really dumb here, but I can't work out how to view friends' albums on Facebook on my prime (using the official app).
When I browse a profile on my phone using the same app, I get the - About - Friends - Photos - Likes thumbnails, but not on my Prime.
Anyone else noticed this?
facebook seems to update like every three days, honestly your better off making a shortcut in your web browser and using their mobile site, its touch oriented and works better than any app i have used. You can also get your notifications from facebook going to your email so you can get notifications when people message you or whatever in email instead of in the notification bar and it still takes you directly to the content.
Sure its an extra button press but thats what works well for me. YMMV.
Was kind of expecting a 'use the browser' response, which is fair enough I guess.
Just wondered why the feature was removed or if it's just hidden somewhere.
I prefer using apps to browsers.
I have question regarding your use of the Gmail app. I am a current ios user and have purchased a Note 2. I was about to reluctantly return it and get an iphone5 (sad choice, because I loved the Note 2), but since I use my smartphones for work and use emails constantly I need a slick and easy way to sync (IMAP idle/push) four email addresses to one app.
I tried k9 and hated it. No threading/conversation view. push not responsive and def not easy to use. No server search for email. On a good day, I'll get more than 100 emails to various addresses. I sometimes need to search for a specific one. and on K9 Im stuck with only the last 25. I could increase the number of saved emails, but that takes up lots of space. Sure its powerful, but I need the basic to work quickly and easily.
Its a big change for me, moving to Android that is. and I want to make it work. Can you tell me if you can use the Gmail app (which I like), and manage, read, write to and from all my account (one Gmail, 3 domain hosted addresses)?
Thanks for you help.
I use gMail & have my main gMail account grab my home & work eMail brought into their own label (which I set up on the desktop client). Once it's setup & verified I can send from any of my email addresses from my phone.

My friend i am going through the same problem - I was *just* about to post my thread when I saw this.
I'm not going to thread jack - but below is what I was going to send - this is particularly the same problem you are facing and more over, I dont get all my sub folders and the emails dont zoom out to the max...
The Samsung Galaxy Note II is my first android device so I would require some help from you guys. I've owned iphone 2g and iphone 4 and now I thought that android had matured enough that I should jump this droid boat. Not to mention that the note 2's s-pen is a real innovation compared to other stuff android fanboys and iphone fanboys boast about.
I'm still getting used to a lot of functions about the androids and loving every moment of it. But im not particularly here to talk about that - I need some help on one thing I rely most upon...
EMAILS
iOS - email app has ALL my mailboxes (some pushing while others fetch) including their folders and sub-folders, all nicely laid out. Also whenever I open an email on the iOS device the email is zoomed out to the max and I can zoom in to my satisfaction.
Pics:
Folders of my work email & Default (max) zoomed out email - kindly check attachment
Problem - I can not get this done on the android. The following pics are from the stock email app but I tried K9, the gmail app (doesnt support exchange) but none of them could provide me the maxed zoomed out layout of the email. Niether are folders easy to access.
Pics:
Folders of my work email (missing all subfolders of the inbox) & Default (max) zoomed out email - cant zoom out any further at all!
kindly check attachment
SOLUTION? I need to know if there is an app that could work like the iOS email app?! I really want to switch to the note 2 but I still end up carrying my iphone with me and I hate it cuz one of the major reasons to switch to android and note 2 was the productivity, and yet I still end up relying on the iphone...

Little Trick!
In order to receive more notifications than the 5 you set yourself, you have the option of loading the Blackberry Hub+ and the associated services from the PlayStore. You can manage many accounts there. works perfectlyfor me!

Isn't it just a notification 'watcher'? Those apps would still need to show notifications to appear in the Blackberry Hub+ inbox???

No, the hub accesses the accounts directly, not the system.
Is like your mail program that accesses your mail account.
Look on Screenshot, it is Not the Gmail icon at the top.
I can't see a way to configure WhatsApp for example - surely it requires me to approve access or hook it up somehow?
I must look and test it, the N is not my daily driver.
WA is at the time on iPhone.....
Most of the chat apps (WhatsApp, Line...) Have auto-start set by default (without being one of the 5 custom auto-start apps), and therefore notifications will show, and be 'captured' by the Blackberry Hub. But for example, I just added Google Chat, which DOESN'T have auto-start set, and it doesn't show in Blackberry Hub, because there are no notifications...
I'm not sure I like the solution or workaround of yet another app to deal with notifications that should be a standard solution, aka OS and base UI API, from Google AndroidOS itself.
I'm fully aware of BlackBerry and its history, yet how up to date is this BlackBerry Hub and what's the official word from BlackBerry update future updates? If nothing official this would be a temporary solution.
Is Oppo taking user feedback on all channels (aka official support forums, support email/phone, twitter, etc)? They already have a global 'Ambassador' program to help launch and sales of the Find N2 Flip.

CN ROM have limitations because Chinese app developers are garbage that stuffs apps full of offer notifications auto start and push for more monetization.. if u seen the china app market, it's 90% junk apps there that ask for every single permission possible to harvest ur data and sell openly to the big firms..
I tried this on my Find N2 (fold) no luck in getting other apps configured to receive notifications - the only one I could get to work was GMAIL..
Anyone else have any luck in getting other apps working using the Blackberry HUB such as Facebook etc?
Cheers FROSTY
