By the front facing camera there are two other holes/sensors what are these for? Sometimes at night I can see a faint red light from the far left sensor.

So recently I was getting a close look at my vibrant. If you look about 1/4th of an inch to the left of the edge of the ear piece you will see two dots of what look like a front facing camera and an IR diode. So what are they?

Peep holes for your landlord.
They are proximity sensors, so the screen can turn off when your phone is next to your face while on a call.

On my tablet, my front camera is very dark under a light. If there is no artificial light, it works fine. Does anyone know how to fix this?

If you're in a bright room or outside and it's sunny they won't light up. If you're in a dark room or outside and it's dark they should light up. If they are not then I recommend you reset your phone, if it's not ok after reset then you should return the phone and try another one.
Ok I'll keep an eye on it thank you for the help

Cover your light sensor in the top left to test if the lights are working

HTC is notorious for having poor performance of those lights on their phones. The Thunderbolt did the same thing, but since the sensor was on top of a black background, a good trick was to cover the sensor with electrical tape so the lights would stay on all the time.
They never seem to come on when they should and they always seem to be on when it's not needed. :silly:
What's the best way to check the proximity sensor ?
Wave over the device while it's asleep air preview uses the proximity sensor
