So, my problem is following, I have few shortcut contacts on my phones desktop and as I press the contact it gives me a list of to call, send sms or email that person.
Now, as I installed Whatsapp it added it's own shortcut at the end of that list, the problem is that I need to scroll the list in order to see it. So is it possible to modify these quicklaunches and for example remove the Gmail shortcut so that the Whatsapp fits in the same window?
My wife's phone has a strange problem of not showing the Whatspp quicklaunch for some contacts even though others work just fine and in the Whatsapps own contact list it shows everybody normally, any idea what could be the reason?

just like to check their statuses on the phonebook like we used to see on 1.6

Open your phone book, open a contact, press edit at the top, press the menu button (silver one at x10 bottom), select "join", select the facebook account you want to add, done!!
Some notes
1. Login and setup the facebook app, the sony phone book requires this
2. I also recommened setting up facebook on timescape
3. This last one annoyed me. On 1.6 you could add any facebook contact to any contact name on the phone, but not anymore. ex. My friends name in the phone book is "John", but his facebook profile name is "Alex". If I try to add "Alex" to "John", it won't even show up in the list of facebook profiles to choose from, I had to rename "John" in my phone book to "Alex", then I could see "Alex" in the selection list. This is really annoying as I have most of my friends set up with nicknames, but they use their real names on facebook, thus forcing me to rename a few on my phone book. Anyone have a solution for this?

There is show all contacts menu item.
this is really painfull. i cannot add the contact because i using nickname in phonebook. is there some application which it does?

In the top left corner of the phone book there's a filter button, click it and have it display facebook contacts as well. Then start merging contacts. If the names are off ie. alex and john, it seems to keep the name of the contact that you started with.
*Facebook app needs to be installed.
*Also as akila87 mentioned if the names are not the same there is show all contacts bar when merging them.
Edit- Actually naming appears to be completely random.... =/
I have synched my contact list with Facebook, but when someone rings me their picture is really poor and pixelated. Is there a setting or something I need to change to display it properly? Does anyone else have this problem?

Working workaround: create contact with name and photo only on phone then connect to facebook/google contact. Works but you must delete image from google contact (i didn't found option to choose[\b] account photo source).
Really I'd like to know is there a real cure for this.
I had this problem to. You can't see the pics if you sync it with the Facebook app. Instead I sync my contact (only) with Samsung's Social Hub and then manually join any contacts which the phone can't find automatically. Then I see all the pics, and they also get updated.
NOTE: I can also see the contact pics in LP People widget

I have the same problem, the pictures are really pixelated, both when you get a call and when you have them as a buddy widget on one of your homescreens!

Yeah, sure
1. You can install the Facebook app, but don't sync the contacts.
2. Open Samsung's Social Hub. Click on the menu button and then "add account". Choose "Facebook" and add enter your username and password. Choose to sync your contacts (and also the calendar and events too if you want).
Now you should see your Facebook contacts in your phone book (if you don't you need to enable it in the phone book's options).
The phonebook might be able to join your normal contacts with the Facebook contact, but on mine in didn't match too many.
To join them manually, long press on a contact and choose "join contact" - now choose their Facebook profile and they should now be joined.
When that person call's you should also see their status update on your screen.
If the pics on the widget come up blurry then press the widget and it should automatically adjust the image.

does anyone have issues with messaging when adding a recipient the names are showing double? So basically seeing 2 contacts for everyone on my list.
Not sure what you mean - but maybe its caused by having facebook app installed and also a facebook account set up in Accounts in settings. I you have booth the Samsung and the official facebook then you might see things double.
It could also be caused by having both contacts in Gmail/Google and Facebook/Samsung/Exchange etc.
Try and explain the problem a bit more.
in 1.5, i didnt have this issue. I had facebook and gmail accounts under 'Accounts and sync'.
Try this.
Go to Messaging icon -> Click on the top right envelope -> Click on the top right portrait icon
This will now show you a list in your contacts. My list is coming up with 2 of everyone
In my contacts icon, i only see 1 entry for each person. So i am not sure what is going on
edit: Deleted all my contacts from my contact icons. Went to messaging icon and i see only 1 of all my contacts. So does this mean its reading my sim card? I cant find any settings to disable it and read phone only
ye i got the same problem..also...when i go into the application menu and rotate my phone horizontally the icons all cluster into one and it only clears up once i touch the screen..is it just me?

I love Go SMS, in my opinion it beats ChompSMS (which has the same problem) and HandCent (Which doesnt have the problem, but it looks like crap). But the problem is that it simply cant show facebook contacts.. When composing an sms it won't show anyone who is a facebook contact and where as in the standard messaging app i can see the name and photo of a contact who sent me an sms, in Go SMS it just shows the phone number.
Is there anything that can be done or is it entirely up to the Go SMS developer? 90% of my contacts are just facebook people, i can't be arsed to manually create them all as normal contacts

Just found this thread via Google, I can't believe how much time I've wasted messing around with Google Contacts/FB Sync for this issue.
My suggestion is file a bug report on GoSMS and hope the devs can fix it. It shouldn't even be that difficult - just a specific case for handling Facebook contacts. They've demonstrated they're willing to deal with FB-specific issues as shown by their new 'import FB photo' feature.
Do let me know if you figure out a workaround? Like you, I know Handcent does it fine, but it looks like arse.

You have to have a rooted phone.
Rebuild the contact database or install a custom rom with that feature installed.

Running Litening Rom 6 and standard Kernel but think this is a general question
When I go into view the contacts I have the contacts are not duplicated. However when I go to send a text using GoSms or the standard messaging and select a contact they are duplicated?
Not sure how to remove these and if the phone is picking up names from both the sim and the phone for SMS messages. Checked the settings and cannot determine why names are duplicating?
Anyone got any way to remove this duplication or set it up that phone picks up contacts from just phone or sim?

Fiddle around with the Sim/Phone/Google contacts settings and see if that helps....
Tried everything and still no joy? Updated to Litening Rom 6.1 and changed the kernel.
Removed Go SMS pro and then reinstalled and its seems to be picking up the names from phone and SMS. However on the contacts names are not duplicating. The display options show only contacts with phone option ticked also under select contacts to display under phone all other contacts is ticked and under Sim nothing is ticked?
Getting annoying trying to find names when texting and cannot even delete duplicate contacts under Go SMS
Anyone have any other options ?

I had this problem. The SMS application was displaying both the phone contacts and SIM contacts. The actual contacts list was set to only display phone contacts, the sms app obviously ignores this and displays both.
I deleted the SIM contacts and that cured the problem.
