it's already on

It mounts as removable storage from TWRP, so it's a CM9 problem

USB Drive not reading?

I am running TnTLite 4.4 which I am absolutely enjoying but I was unable to get the USB slot to read a thumb drive. Is there a work around for this?

I found that re-booting, with the usb device already attached, usually fixs it or, going into file explorer and issuing a 'refresh' command.
what if format for USB drive. Try formatting as FAT32. Tab does not like NTFS

Thanks for all your suggestions. I will give it a try.
Did you enable USB access on the gtab? I know I had to do that on the Vegan rom. The usb will detect but you still need to enable it for use.
How do you enable it? Or do you mean turning on usb debugging.
Can't get my seagate ntfs 350gb to be recognized... gonna try reformat

[Q] SD card will not mount

my SD card has not mounted since I installed HTC sync on my computer. i was told i needed to download it in order to get my SD card to mount when i flashed gingeritis. several ROMs later it's becoming a pain to not have my phone mount. i've been using ADB to push stuff to my SD card, but in order to set up isyncr i need access to my SD card. thinking HTC sync was the problem, i uninstalled it but that has not helped.
i did an XDA and google search but none of the threads solutions helped me. i appreciate your response ;p

When you connect your phone to Computer, click on Internet Pass Through and let drivers install. Wait 15 seconds. And then click Disk Drive. See if that works.

i should have mentioned this, i am on CM7 and as far as i know there is no internet pass through option
I believe this is what you need...
Google search usbdeview. Uninstall any HTC Android driver that is on your pc through usbdeview with the phone connected. Then unplug and reconnect the phone and let it install the drivers. You should be good to go.
thank you, i will try this when i get home
usbdeview worked perfectly, thank you.

First HTC sync is garbage. Uninstall it. Second all media needs to be on root of sd card in folders like this (Music) (Pictures) (Video) , If you have ADB drivers installed thats why HTC sync isnt working. ADB and HTC sync do not mix. ADB drivers should be enough to do a normal mount to the puter. Something else to try is Trying to mount it via Recovery. You will see the mount USB storage in the partition menu. If that doesnt work you have a driver issue. uninstall your drivers while device is plugged in. unplug it plug it back in and reinstall correct drivers. GL

You could try re-installing the drivers (if you already have them; if not, then install them).

[Q] TWRP...how do I mount storage? Can I?

Sitting here in TWRP and can't for the life of me find out how to mount the storage for copying ROM's over. Is this something I have to do in the OS? Can I not mount anything within TWRP?

Twrp auto mounts your sdcard, just browse to where you want to go when you go to install, otherwise hit Mount and select what you want mounted.

I do this! OK, I have the USB plugged in...go to Mount and it says "Select Partition to Mount". Cache and Data are selected. Nothing happens.
I check System and nothing happens.
USB OTG can't be checked and when I tap "Storage: Internal Storage (8545 MB)" it gives me "Internal Storage" and "USB-OTG"...again can't select USB-OTG.
I really can't do anything, Mount is completely useless to me. My PC recognizes that something is plugged in (get the connect/disconnect sound) but nothing pops up as far as storage and all that goes.
Soooo...anymore ideas? Am I missing something?

Sounds like you're trying to use your PC as a USB device? Not the way it works, that's for USB flash drive type devices, not pulling stuff from your PC. Either place the ROM on the SD card, use a USB drive on an OTG cable, or use adb sideload while connected to the oc to flash from the PC storage instead of the SD card.
Putting the ROM on the SD card will probably be best.

OOOOOOOK...so direct connection isn't possible? Got OTG to work with my OTG cable and flash drive. Worked perfectly. Not as convenient but it works. Thanks!

You can do adb sideload from the PC for a direct connection.

Meh, which ever works. Either way I got the problem solved, thanks to you!
I really love how easy it is to use TWRP with an OTG USB drive. Makes backing up and flashing very nice on a phone with limited storage.
I think he was saying he wanted to copy from his PC to internal storage while he was on TWRP...
Yes?

[Q] usb storage unavailable please help

So my dna's USB storage is unavailable after I did a factory reset from hboot. I read the FAQ about this and it just says to format the storage as fat32. Sounds simple. However under device manager it only shows up under portable devices as the model number. Nothing under removable storage or similar. Can someone please help me here? Is there a command I can run from terminal emulator on the phone? Or any other way to get the computer to recognize it needs formatting?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated as its making the camera horribly laggy
Again thanks in advance

Format your stick in the computer not the device. Go to My computer with the stick plugged in, right click and select format

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think you misunderstood my problem?
My phone's internal USB storage (under settings>storage-usb storage at the bottom) says unavailable. And is greyed out

Your device does NOT have internal USB storage. Connect a USB device via an OTG cable and it will be recognized.

OK I guess I misunderstood the meaning of it then.
I had done a factory reset through hboot and the camera is pretty laggy and I thought that was the reason why.
Now I need to figure why that is. Thanks for turning me off my wild goose chase though
