[Q] Fully hardbricked x10, never seen like this before. - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well folks, my first question thread (Actually first thread started by me, ever). So first of all, sorry for any possible mistakes.I'll try to be as concise as I can, however it's hard with a situation as complicated as mine. I searched all around, and didn't find a case like this one. Well, I have this x10a, and after upgrading it to 2.1, it never booted again. SEUS reported a successful flash. It made it once to the homescreen, but rebooted soon after. Twice it stuck on the SE logo, now I only get the flashing red led. Phone charges the battery, and even with its own battery, charged either internally or with external charger, or other battery, it fails to boot. I can get to flashmode, but it seems to be stuck there. Sometimes it enters flashmode without pressing the back button However, it disconnects while flashtool or SEUS are trying to flash it. It flashes part of the .FTF and fails... I am no noob at this, and I've been pulling my hair over this phone for some 2 weeks...PC Companion recognizes it as a quite generic "Sony Ericsson Phone", and fails to start restoring it.
Help one desperate dude, please.
Thanks in advance

Do you have an unlocked bootloader?
As i understand you flashed with seus but it failed ...
This migth be a longshot but theres a forum thread in tjis Q&A stating that he could not fully flash (got inturupted)
But he solved it using wotan repair tool wich required a fee
Go find his thread and ask him for help if needed see if his problem relates to yours q

My phone is fully stock. Bootloader and ROM are (were?) the factory-installed ones.I didn't even get to root the thing! Tried tons of different FTFs already. Could it be my PC, maybe? I don't have another machine where to test. I can enter flashmode removing and reinserting battery, but phone fails to flash. SEUS once flashed it nearly until the end, but failed at around 90%...What makes me wonder what happened is the fact that the phone was bricked by an official update!
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda app-developers app

was something more to do with my laptop environment than the phone. Because the Wotan client came with it's own driver, which my device loaded and used when I connected it holding the back button, this seemed to make the phone stay in flash mode when connected.
From this experience I don't think holding the back button puts an X10 into flash mode, it merely asks the host 'can I be in flash mode?' and either the host says yes or no.
In the post i linked so i supposw it can be driver related.
An in that post it got it to STAY in flash mode ... try looking for drivers on seus webpage

1 more thing i found
- While this process is running, please don't disconnect your phone from PC. If you disconnect the phone or the battery power is dropped then the process will be interrupted..... causing your phone unbootable!!
But don't worry because you can repeat the step above to re-flash your phone until the process complete.
so let the phone charge for about an hour or two to make sure if you can not check its status
hope you get it running again!

Well, I left it charging. It won't get worse, since its dead as a brick already. When I arrive home i'll finish flashing LG O2X, then i'll give the x10 some attention.

Well, nothing worked... Seems i have a bad eMMC/NAND chip. Any other thoughts?

Where can i get the frf fw files... all are on megaupload

Google yields some results. Try also searching on xda.

[Q] x10i won't start

first of all let me say that i've don a lot of searching before posting this, and i know it seems pretty long but please try to help me.
i got an x10i from a friend few days a go. the reason i got it (for free) was because it's not working and he didnt want to mess with it anymore.
when i first got it, if i tried to turn it on, the led would flash red. once in a while it got turned on, the sony ericsson text appeared for a few seconds and went off again. now if i try to turn it on the led would flash green for a sec, there is a vibrate but thats it. screen wont turn on at all.
i'f i try to connect it in the SE PC suite it detects it, but fails installing it. i've managed to enter the repair tool, but it failed a few times. however, the last time i tried to repair it said that it was repaired succesfully. still, not turning on.
tried to flash a firmware via flashtool, seems like its going well all the way but in the end it says "error flashing. aborted".
i'm pretty much out of ideas now, so ill really be grateful if anyone could help me.
a little update:
i've manged to flash a firmware via flashtool and it finished without any error, but still it won't turn. only the quick green flash and vibration.
any help will be appreciated.
ok, big update:
the phone is starting, i get past the boot animation and see the main screen (!) but after a sec or 2 the screen freezes and the phone shut down and won't start again unless i replace the battery?
please? anyone? im feeling so close yet so far away. could be a battery issue? when the screen starts i see that the battery is almost empty (connecting it to the charger won't help)
Yesterday i had the same problem ... i had to flash the hole firmware with X10Flash-2.1 and then updating with seus.. after this it restarts and it boot correctly
Not sure if u tried this, try having the phone plugged into the charger and let it charge for a while and then try booting it up again. Firmware wise, I would try a stable 2.1 or the freex10 beta 2.2 for a start to ensure that the software installed are stable ones. Hope this help.
try to fix it with seus...
nothing else willing to work as it seems there is something wrong a little deeper than flashable files...
This is I believe 1000th thread about this.
1. run seus
2. run PCC
3. run flashtool
Done.
SEUS seems to be the most effective way of repairing this.. Although you might also want to try pulling the battery before it freezes, it can help to recalibrate the battery.

thanks to everyone who replied.
i've downloaded and installed on the phone the version by SEUS, but i still cant turn on the phone.
in PC companion nothing is happening. when i go to the support section to get the new version, it just connecting with the phone and then tells to disconnect the phone and turn it on (which of course don't happen).
i've tried to run a repair in PC suite but it fails.
i've also tried to flash a firmware in flashtool, but it also fails.
any ideas?

with the first and the third ones i get an error, but with the second i don't. however the device still won't turn on.
is there any chance that because i'm using win 7 64 bit it causes problems?
please?...

If i am not wrong windows 32/64 bit does not affect how ur phone is gonna be installed since the installer that is downloaded is for the phone only and the installation process will only be done by the phone itself.
Not sure if u tried a different software such as xrecovery to install the OS into ur x10, since xrecovery with freex10beta4 works for almost all of the users in here, it should work for u if ur x10 has no hardware faults. If all still fails, it might be most probably your x10 hardware has failed or something along those lines.
It work for me, then with the 1.6 you can after that update with seus to 2.1update 1. If your phone doesn't work anymore you have nothing to lose.

the original 1.6 is on this forum also... please make some commercials somewhere else... k thanks...
4 out of the 9 posts u made had something to do with this website... could you stop please?
@the win7 part... you could get problems if you dont got the right drivers but it would tell you or error out...
the only thing what you could do in my opinion that is is short the pins while battery has been removed
this should effect total emptied phone and hopefully also the memory.... maybe than you are capable to flash/start it...
now if this wont work.. im sorry but im out of ideas and u shud use it to make a new barn or house ;/ im sorry
Didn't know the 1.6 was on the forum, thanks for the cue. I won't talk about that anymore.

x10i wont start up

Hey guys,
I have an x10i that just went dead one day, I thought it needed a software re-install so I did it. Now it wont turn on and I just get a quick green blink and a vibrate when I turn it on. Ive flashed it 10 times via sony update too and pc companion and flash tools. I dont know what to do, any help would me much appreciated.
Download SEUS from Sony and flash. Make sure it is fully charged and make sure you are using the right USB cable and try using several different USB ports on your computer if the first one doesn't work.

Thanks for the response, I have a fully charged battery and just re-flashed with still no luck. What did you mean about the "right usb cord" ?
Thanks again.
I mean reflashed with SEUS (not PC Companion) and by right USB cord, I mean the one that came with the phone. Or if you have the possibility, try another one.
Tried with 2 different usb cords and on 2 different cpus. I think Im S.O.L
One more question, after a flash how long does it take for the xperia to boot up?
During a flash with SEUS it tells you when the phone is rebooting....same with the Flashtool.
Screen turns on...still black...then Sony logo, then your bootlogo followed by desktop.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmX-IYNYqL8
Is it successfully flashing using SEUS or flashtool? Does it actually flash and then not boot? What does it say when you flahs using the flashtool?
But again, if the flashtool isn't working, you are going to have to use SEUS to get back to scratch. Run it as Admin...let it boot up and do nothing to the phone for at least 2 minutes. Do not swipe or move a thing....let it settle down.
Some of you people who ask for help really don't provide much information at all.
To me it looks like a wrong firmware problem... version you have installed isn't the same as kernel.
I would flashtool....root....turn off phone....SEUS full reflash....

When the flash finishes up it says to turn on the device and the start up may take some time, Ive let it sit for hours and still nothing. IDK what the hell is wrong with it.
K well I give up. Ive tried 3 more times using a cpu with xp and still the same thing.
If any one else has had this problem please let me know.
looks like the faulty motherboard issue to me, some users are experiencing this problem, if you have warranty get a new phone if don't then i don't know what else can you do :/
Great. I have no warenty so looks like I'm screwed.

Is there any way to fix the mother board issue ?
Dont mean to beat a dead horse but....... HELP!!!!

Flashmode/flashtool problems.

Okay, so, ive never had problems with flashing things with flashtool until recently. My phone dosent stay in flashmode for more than 30 seconds and I frequently get flashing errors whenever my phone does stay in flashmode. Its getting really fustrating and I dont know if its the phone, computer or flashtool thats the problem.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Sounds like the phone's USB port?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
It mounts perfectly fine and easily transfers stuff to and from the phone. its just flashmode that it dosent want to stay connected.
it might be ur computer anti-virus stuff or like firewall thing, try turn it off and flash it again. like my case, it did happen before, i thought i brick my lovely x10i, but somehow i figure out, it is nothing to do with the software, just because my usb port suddenly not working in the middle of flashing process. u can try restart ur pc, then everything should be ok. though they recommend not to close the flash tool if not completed the process yet.
I dont have antivirus. At all.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
OK, so I tried rooting again;
The log went something like this:
Found xperia, no busybox installed
Preparing files for flashing
Searching xperia...
ERROR: USB/0xhsxuy and stuff
FOUND XPERIA USB/0xdgby
Flashing.... (time when phone exits flashmode.,)
ERROR FLASHING ABORTED..
God I hate this.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I had an issue where it kept aborting my flashes.
I fixed this by hitting flash first, and THEN connecting my phone (When i had it already plugged in in Flash mode, it aborted it).
Allright. Ill try this in the morning.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
okay, so that didnt work at all. it did the same thing as before. it starts the flashing sequence then it immediately aborts flashing and my phone is out of flash mode. wtf.
Can anyone help?

Super bricked SE Neo

I tried to update my Xperia Neo, but someone managed to pull out the Usb cable when the phone began to flash. Now i'm facing a bricked phone, imposible to enter in Flash mode or Fastboot mode as I did before(no green led, no blue led, nothing). I pulled out the battery for 1 hour, rom prepared everything, but after I insert the usb cable by holding the back button, instead of flash mode, a "Sony Ericsson" screen apears without the green logo. I cant shut down the phone from the on/off button, cant flash, cant do nothing to get it back to live. When the "Sony Ericsson" screen apears, the pc makes that hardware connecting sound, and pc companion pops out telling me: "phone connected" and shows furter steps...but I can see only the "se" screen, no flashing or updating program can connect my phone no more. Please help me with a solution to be able to flash (repair) phone. I've tried: wotan, flash tool, FlashTool_0.2.9.1_FOTAUnbrick, Octopus suite, Omnius for SE, Se update, PC Companion, Seus, no results (can't connect into Flash mode, the phone cant be seen). I respected all the steps, flashed it succesfull several times. Thank you in advance, and have a great day! Sorry for long post and bad english.

Hardbricked X10 mini?

Hey I've got an old X10 mini, where I've tried to unlock the bootloader.
I used SpyderX's "big guide of bootloader unlocking" p) and in the end I realized that the run "msm7227_semc.cmd" -step should be run while having the phone turned on :S
It worked and I got to flash nAa's kernel.
That's where everything went south.
It would show the nAa kernel's loading screen, then just black screen forever.
I then went into recovery"mode" and wiped userdata (I think).
Then it restarted.. or rather it shut down and did nothing.
Now it isn't recognized by seus or anything and I can't get into recovery mode.
The only thing it does is that little charging indicator is blinking red when pressing power, and also when plugging it in the PC.
I'm not too fuzzed about it, but I'd just like to know if it's totally bricked or there's anything that can be done to recover it without sending it to service.
Thx in advance

You could try to repair it using PC Companion of SEUE. It doesn't sound it's all that dead to me. You just forgot to install a custom ROM after you flashed the kernel, and the stock rom won't boot on nAa's kernel, that's why it did nothing.
