flash problem
I unpacked the file and i put it in to PDA field and flashed it, but it gives me an error "fails" . Previously i flashed it with 4 files including pit file it flashed sucessfully "pass". But this time i don't have an pit file. Is it causing this matter I means the pit file?
What should i do to re flash my phone through odin?
Thank you friends

.pit file is ONLY for repartition, NOT for normal flashing!

What is the extension of the packed and upacked files?

Packed - zip, rar; unpacked - tar, md5; unpacked firmware file - img, no extension.

It's happened to me before and it's been a dodgy download try downloading it again might help

[Q] How to flash P7500 stock rom?

Hi, im new to Galaxy Tab 10.1
Yesterday I made a mistake and flashed a wrong kernel so I lost my 3G on my tab.
Now i have downloaded the european stock ROM from www.samfirmware.com for my tab and I don't know how to flash that files. In the downloaded zip file is a password protected tar file and in this there are some *.img files.
My problem is, with Odin i can't flash *.img files... How do i flash the stock ROM to my tab?
Thanks for your support.
re-stock
There is a very good guide and all the files you need located here: http://p7510.teamovercome.net/?page_id=18
Hope this helps.
Thanks man, you saved my life
You must just load Odin with default settings an load the .tar file on the PDA button. Then start flashing and everything is going right...

you unzipped/uncompressed one too many times. Before you get to zImage, this is the file you need to put into odin as PDA.
So I'm clear; the archive/zip file that CONTAINS zImage is the file you need to put into the PDA field of Odin.

Galaxy s3 Odin Pit for bricked device

Hi to all!
Yesterday i bricked my phone flashing a new rom. I was on philz recovery and wiped everything,boot,modem,etc... flashed the rom and after bootloader the phone was on black screen.
Fortunately i found a pit file for my s3 16gb. I placed it on odin with pda tar md5 and successfully got out of the brick.
My question is.
There are 2 sections in odin. Phone and csc. I didn't have such files. Did i need them because of the brick and because of using pit ?
Nope. Those are if you're going to flash the files independently from the *_HOME.tar.md5 from sammobile. You can ignore those check boxes. You just need the *.pit file, and the *_HOME.tar.md5 file you want to flash.
I thought because of the brick those 2 partitions were also corrupted. . In fact pit file re partitiones also modem but i didn't have one selected in odin.. strange it worked all finely. .

Need Help with a Softbricked Galaxy S3 i9300

Hi there,
I may have softbricked my i9300 S3 after failing to flash MIUI. I had the phone rooted already with custom recovery installed.
CWM 6.0.1.2. A friend recommended the recovery after he successfully installed it on his S3. I was running Android 4.1.2
so no Knox problems hopefully. I downloaded the latest MIUI rom for my phone directly from the official website and used the CWM
to try and flash it. My phone was already rooted at that stage and I had wiped cache and reset the phone prior to the flash attempt.
Unfortunately it gave me a Status 7 error. Even after I unrooted and rerooted my phone the error still remained. I read somewhere else
that this happens sometimes and so I edited the Updater-Script as suggested elsewhere and deleted the section pertaining to the
Verification process. I double checked I had the right ROM too and proceeded to wipe and flash again. It seemed to take and the phone
restarted and I was met with the MIUI language selection menu. However, when i tried to select English, the whole thing just froze and switched
off and restarted itself. But this time the screen went all weird and fuzzy and wouldnt boot back to MIUI interface. I tried to boot into recovery but with no luck. I have tried to reflash the recovery also with no luck. I have tried other versions of CWM alos without luck. Tried TWRP and also no luck. I have used both the 3.07 and the 1.85 version of ODIN with no luck. The flash would fail with either a PIT error or a COM port error. But I have all the necessary drivers installed. I have Kies but dont run it at the same time. The Emergency Firmware something also doesnt seem to work.
I have pictures of the various errors and such and can provide dropbox links if required
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks!
Original Firmware
If I were you, I would go to Download Mode and Flash the Original Firmware from Samsung. Download it from the Sammobile Website and after you successfully installed it try it again.
Like Tkkg1994 said above download the Samsung firmware and use Odin to install it through download mode.
You were having a "Status 7" error when initially flashing miui because your CWM recovery was not the latest...download the latest cwm recovery (6.48.something not sure??) Then flash miui and hopefully you shouldn't have any problems.

Yes that's correct. Because of this I would do all things to get a normal S3 without root. That in download mode it shows Original and 0 flashs. Than I would download Philz latest Touch Recovery, clean to install a new rom, download the ROM again, maybe there is a fault, than install it again and root it later, not than.
Hope I could help
Thanks guys! I think that was the general consensus then. I'm trying to follow this guide here
http://unbrick.itcse.com/unbrick-soft-bricked-samsung-galaxy-s3-i9300/
But when I download the Original 4.1.2 ROMS they dont have all the mentioned csc files nor do they have any PIT files in them either.
The only file included in the ZIP was a MD5 file which i guess is the PDA file.
Regardless, I'll give it a go. I've found some newer CWM recoveries but they seem to be IMG files instead of ZIP or MD5.
Any idea how to convert it. I'm getting the file directly from the CWM ROM MANAGER website.
Thanks for all the help again!
Firmware
If you like to download the latest Firmware form Samsung, than I have a link for you:
HTML:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=33625
Creat a free account on sammobile, than download it. Flash it on Odin select AP (On Odin3) or PDA on Odin 1.85.
Hit thanks if I helped you
Thanks man but I live in Taiwan so selected Taiwan.
I downloaded this one
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=19112
and also another one but both did not have the PIT file.
When I try to use ODIN 3.09 it says fail due to THERE IS NO PIT PARTITION.
There is only one file thats supposed to be for PDA i guess.
I have tried older ODIN 1.85 too. NO PIT PARTITION ERROR
Help?

Extract the file inside the ZIP File. Than go to odin and on Odin3.09 select AP! Not PIT. This works!
Yes Sir Thanks but I was doing that before. When I unzip there is 2 files.
One is MD5 file and the other one is SS_DL.dll file
I loaded it in AP slot in ODIN 3.09 and ODIN 1.85
Still gives PIT Partition Error!
Is there any PIT file that I can use that wont brick my phone??
I really dont want to brick this phone!

You don't brike your phone this way. I never select the SS_DL.dll file. You just need the MD5 file and do this in AP. I do some research on that but it should work
Yes thanks man. Even Samsung Official readme says that I should do it that way but I still get PIT error when I load the .tar file in the zip.
If someone can link me a working .tar file with PIT as well I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you all!
Thinking about it....

Maybe flash a Philz Touch recovery first. Here is a link:
HTML:
https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9300/philz_touch_6.48.4-i9300.zip.md5/
After that try again with the md5 from Sammobile
Thanks man. That one failed too. Some kind of binary error. I tried numerous other versions from the site
https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9300/
Only the .tar ones load but when I start to flash it, the same PIT Partition error comes up.
I appreciate any and all help!

Those are the ones I have been downloading from Sammobile. I havent downloaded any of the 4.3 versions. I have tried many 4.1.2 versions
Unfortunately none of them have the PIT file included.
Thanks!
Any other suggestions??

Ah than try it with a 4.3 version!
Maybe this thread could help.
There is a download for a PIT file for GT-i9300 16GB version.

Thanks I did but it did not come with a PIT file and flashing it did not work.
UPDATE
Turns out that my S3 had a faulty eMMC chip and had to have the chip and the motherboard replaced.
NOTE TO OWNERS OF 2012 MODEL I9300 GALAXY S3:
I did not know this before I had the problem but there is apparently an APP on the PLAY STORE called eMMC Brickbug App.
That will apparently check your eMMC status. Since I was not aware of this app beforehand I cannot say for sure if this app
does or does not work. However I previously owned and since gave away a 2013 late model Galaxy S3 which had no issues
whatsoever. From all the details that I have read, it seems that most 2012 models of the i9300 are more susceptible to this kind
of problem. If you own a 2012 model please take extra care when flashing any type of software, even if its original from Samsung!
Finally thanks to all the Posters who have attempted to help me out. I'm sure that all of your suggestions would have fixed the issue had my
phone not been hard bricked in the first place.

PIT file for G850F PHN?

I tried to flash my girlfriends Galaxy Alpha and I bought this phone in the Netherlands, so I was assuming the firmware would be PHN like all my other Samsung phones.. Guess I was wrong.. It's a Spanish version with the PHE CSC.
Phone is softbricked now. And I want to move to the PHN firmware so does anyone have the PHN Pit file for the 32GB Galaxy Alpha?
Thnx in advance!
Anyone with a dutch PHN Alpha can extract the PIT file out of his phone.. I can provide a tutorial. It would help me so much!
Seemed not necessary. Extracted the hidden.img file from rom and flashed it after renaming it to hidden.img.tar with odin and the Phone booted normally. But Now smart switch won't initialize it anymore. Is this because of changing CSC?
