Galaxy SII - Error after Rooting - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I Rooted my Brazilian Galaxy SII ICS 4.0.3, following a video tutorial, from this guy on youtube (cant post links cause its my first thread):
/watch?v=6KFgwqE4yoE
Im having a yellow triangle at start screen (Cause its Rooted), but the problem is that I cant install anything on my phone now cause of errors in SDCARD, few games were uninstalled automatically (when i try to run them it appears "The application is not installed on the phone")
The firmware the guy used in the video is different from mine (saw that after rooting :crying: )
I found how to fix, but i cant find my firmware ANYWHERE! Here it is:
3.0.15-I9100XXLPQ-CL223505

Here i can see how to fix, but i need my firmware.
Is there anyway I can get it? I bought here in Brazil, in google I can only find foreign ones...
Appreciate any help,
Vitor.

Hi,
thats the Kernel not the Firmware
you should be able to flash any Firmware - maybe try it again or follow the xda Guides (try search)

That was fast..
Im gonna search, if i can fix i will reply here.
Thanks,

I searched a bit but how do I flash it? I found few fix like unmounting sdcard, but always see that "flash" thing...
Sorry for stupid question :O
Thanks,
Vitor.

Just click the link - theres a guide
If you are not rooted you flash it via Odin , its quite simple just follow the instructions
Just reflash any stock rom (maybe one nearby your location - just for language issues xD) and look if the problem is still there
Remove the triange via Triangle Away from ChainFire (just apears if you flash a custom rom or kernel, stock s doesnt increase the flash counter)

Yay
Appreciate ur support, I followed the link and fixed!
Working perfectly now
Clicked on that thanks button for u.
Thanks,
Vitor

[Q] BOOTLOOP after CF-ROOT

hey guys,
i connected my SII in download mode with my pc , started odin , select PDA the CF-root insecure.tar and pressed Start..
it completed with any error message and i thought that the phone would be restart.
But the phone is still in the boot loop..
i can't get into recovery mode, but into download..
What should i do ?
thx,
Maxomix
Do it the traditional way using the XWKDD insecure kernel and SuperOneClick if you have any problems. Link in my signature.
For now, flash back a stock rom using Odin and do the traditional rooting method for SGS2, it's guaranteed to work as I did it on random 5 devices I was given by friends. Works with any firmware, but slower than CF-Root, but gets the job done.

first, thank you so much that you have answered !
i have done it with the traditional way, but it completed and then it is hanging in bootloop, i haven't done the second step with super one click because the tutorial(And then there was root!) says me that i have to do this when the phone is completely restarted? .. Where can i download the stock rom ?
Download a stock rom from Intratech's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Choose one appropriate for your version.
I hope you have the GT-I9100, cuz if you flashed the wrong ROM, you're in big trouble.
You can also follow Intratech's method on rooting.

[Q] Wrong kernel flashed

Hi all, I have a brand new galaxy SII bought in Belgium. I wanted to root it but something went wrong. I used this guide:
http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2-i9100-icsandroid-4-0/
Now I think I know what went wrong, the guide is only for a device already on ICS (i think) which was not the case. Trouble is that I do not know which kernel version was on the device before the flash and now he doesn't boot anymore. I just see the galaxy S2 logo with triangle and that's it.
Can you please help me? I'm sorry, I know I was really not careful enough...
If you can get into download mode, follow the guide here to root your phone & consider yourself lucky.
If you can't get into download or recovery mode, you're probably boned. Try a jig before you send it to a service center or have it JTAG repaired by a 3rd party.

Thank you for the very quick answer I can get to the download mode without a problem so I think its repairable. Also thank you for the link, problem is that I do not know which version of the insecure kernel i need since the phone doen't boot anymore and I can't see the about phone page... Any tips on that? Or will it be a trial and error game to see with which kernel the phone boots?
Thank you very much for your help!
OK. Being able to get into download mode is good. Now, finding the kernel that came with the phone...
I probably wouldn't go down the trial & error route, have a look at this thread . Don't worry about the links, what you need to do is find the matching kernel for your carrier & country. Then you can look for the matching insecure kernel in the CFRoot thread I linked you to in the previous post.
Edit to add - Linked to wrong thread in first instance, OP, make sure the link you click on takes you to 'Official I9100 Carrier Branded Firmwares'.
Thank you very much. You really are a great help I will try it tommorow morning when I have a bit more time (I don't want to screw it up again ).
No probs ;-) If you have any dramas, post in this thread again. Important thing is to make sure you find the right kernel in that carrier branded firmware thread in the 2nd post, then in the CFRoot kernel thread find the closest match.
For example, if your original kernel is --KF2, you would try and find a matching CFRoot kernel. If there is a KF2 CFRoot kernel, good. You use that. But, if there wasn't a KF2 CFRoot kernel but there was a KF1 or KF3, you could use either of those. Again, this is just an example but should give you an idea of what to look for.
I just booted succesfully. No data lost, everything just fine I did exactly what you said and it worked like a charm. I cannot thank you enough Just wanted to let you know
Really ? Got the phone rooted & all working well ? Very good No probs, glad it worked out well for you/no data loss & most importantly no borked phone
Yep all working fine now. I even put ressurection ics on it without a single problem very glad you were so helpful!
It was so unfortunate that I'm now in this position, a stuck galaxy s 2 logo with triangle on it.
Earlier today, I rooted an SGS2 of my friend on 2.3.4 using XW_NEE_KI4-42: 2.3.4, CF-Root v4.2, SU 3.0, "insecure" to correspond with the 'KI4' code. After that I flashed it with CM9 and all went well.
Seeing the success, another friend wanted me to do the same to his device. I gladly picked up the phone (which was using an official ICS ROM) and simply rooted it using the same file as above via Odin. That is the part where I did wrong. So this phone won't boot and now I have no idea what the 'code' was. Still, odin mode is accessible.
So, where do I go from here?
Should I make new thread for this? Or is the solution provided here is applicable?
The sgs2 was unbranded aka international version.
Thanks in advance.
Flash a stock rom via Odin. That will give you a 'clean slate'. Search Intratech's firmware thread, if the links don't work search Samfirmware.com for the stock firmware you need.
Alternatively, you can get the latest firmware for the phone model/carrier/country with the PC version of Checkfus (search for it on here/Google). The firmware package you download can be flashed in Odin following the instructions in Intratech's thread.
you were the one who solved OP problems n now here you are again to help me out. Seriously, thanks.. I'll definitely will give it a try soon when i got back n I'll report back.
Thanks man.

1. Don't panic!!
Well if your unsure which version it is you may have to try them all
download them here from chainfires post .. i'd probably start at lpq ??

I seem to be following you around lol not on purpose
I'd wouldn't flash a stock rom "straight off the bat" .. Only I would do that as a last resort!
Flashing the correct kernel will make the phone boot up with NO LOSS of data and all will be back to normal
Flashing a stock ROM will mean you have to start all over again.. (like we do anyway when we flash different custom roms)
So I'm not saying your wrong, just saying try a different kernel first!
Thanks Eudemony, I'll try kernel first. So it seems like there are 2 LPBs and 2 LPQs and all of them about 17 different kernels for ICS. Alright, I'll try LPQ first. But, is it okay to keep on flashing/Odin-ing each and every single of it? Any bad consequences of that? Or side effects? hehe, sounded like i'm trying out new drugs.

If it is the wrong kernel .. you know the result as you have just done that..
and thats what you are trying to fix
If its the right kernel .. everything should "magically" load back up

Seems like you're 'downgrade' your friend's S2... If AP unit then take a look at your friend's S2 box any IMEI or Warranty Card which can identified the phone origin region.. My phone AP unit no problem flashing latest open europe firmware from samfirmware website... Already rooted and no annoying yellow triangle... flash counter zero... thanks triangle away.. In your case once your friend's phone region is identified then download accordingly.. flash the correct firmware via odin... deal with triangle later.. most important ensure your friend's phone working and please avoid softbrick..
IMEI will identify aprox build date and area of release .
Try this checker

Seriously? I didnt know that. Actually, before upgrading his phone (lets call him Z), Y asked me to flash CM9 but then since his phone wasn't yet rooted with 2.3.4 on top, I decided to update using kies to see whats it like to have an official ics (youtube isnt enough, hehe) but to no avail. Kies told me the phones having the latest firmware even though I've updated kies to latest version.. hmmm..

If your problems are related to some apps misbehavior you could just try to delete data related to those apps, before you consider changing firmware. I was running LPQ and had some initial problem related to Swype (sky high CPU) and another app I just uninstalled. After that just running nice and well.
If this don't help you might want to re-flash old firmware or better flash a never ICS and do a wipe. In order to do so ... read ... some of the threads written about basic things like rooting and flashing

Here is one way to obtain what you want:
- First get root (search XDA to find out how)
- Second buy Odin Mobile from Google Play Google Play Odin Mobile
- Next register and download Samsung official firmware from http://www.sammobile.com.
- Unzip and copy file with extension MD5 to your mobiles internal SDcard.
- Use Odin Mobile to flash keeping default settings (if you don't want to keep root, un-check EverRoot option).
If you use this method (and stay rooted) you can keep flashing new Samsung stock firmwares from within your mobile when ever you want. Read this thread about Odin Mobile
Personally I'ill never use KIES anymore...
Thats it

And when your done with rereading the section MistahBungle was talking about please fix the title of your thread This will help others having the same issue.

Hello,
To resolve the wifi problem, I put with Odin
First Kernel_I9100XXLPQ insecure
after I put Kernel_I9100XXLPQ secure
Now, I have wifi, access to root, no triangle.
The last problem is CWM, when I opened it I have this message: This version of CWM manager should be used with CF-root v5.0 or newer
CWM opens but I havn't restore and backup menu.
Do I root again with The kernel :
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5

the cwm issue is because u have reflashed the stock kernel after Cf-rooting ur phone, now ur phone even though rooted is having limited access to root
so i would suggest u to dwnld the latest siyah kernel .zip file and flash the same thro recovery to get the latest full wrking CWM with touch recovery
link for siyah kernel http://www.gokhanmoral.com/
ps- remember the latest one for S2 is v3.3.3d dwnld the same not the one above it which is meant for S3

It seems you finally managed to mess up your system .
I do really not intend to be biting but seriously: at this point (reviewing the history of what happened) I can only suggest you restart from scratch by installing stock firmware. Rooting with CF-root is usually just one step without any side effects, assuming you follow all the good advices given by Chainfire.

I'm sorry, it is not a question orf chaired or another. I was looking how to do to resolve problem,
in google, when I searched for wifi problem there was a post indicating that.
So, to have a phone working, if I well understand, I have to flash with Odin the stock firmare (it means I will loose everything?), whre can I find this stock firm.
After, I rooted with Cf-root for LPF (the one that you have indicated it to me)
I'm really sorry and appreciated you help
Thanks for your reply
Marc

Hello for all,
first, I would thank you tor the big work that you are doing.
I Have a Galaxy SII, rooted with a rom arabic and french ICS4.0. All was good, just the phone was hot when speaking.
Yesterday I have received an update to ICS 4.0.3., so the phone is no more rooting.
I used the speed way to root in your forum with recovery mode indicated in you forum
I can have super user, but with the application autostars, I have a message that phone is not rooted.
with the kernel that I have battery is more spending.
Can I have a kernel that resolve this problem of rooting and the battery. I would like to continue to use french and arabic.
If I can not install a rom, it is avoid me to loose all data.
My Samsung is
I9100XXLPX
version: 3.0.5.15-I9100JPLPF

Root/CWM Question

Hello there guys, I just rooted my Galaxy S2, after downloading Odin3, insecure kernel JPKJ2, as I also used Samsung quick root, everything seems ok, I didnt brick my phone, but the only prob is that I couldnt find CWM after the phone rebooted, the only app I found was SuperSU, did I skip something while rooting ? can you guys please suggest how I can fix this issue ?
Thank You.

Probably yes!
Please post your Rom details.
I used a similar method to root my sgs2 for the first time a long time ago...anyway i had the same problem, what happened was that it only rooted the phone for me and for cwm i had to flash cwm 4(latest at the time) as a .tar file so maybe that will fix it...try it!

Hey bud, If you want to check if you are properly rooted or not try updating script in su or download a root only app like titanium backup & run it. If it comes up with a permission request then all good you're rooted. As for the cwm app, many people including myself avoid it like the plague as it can have incompatibility problems with "cwm recovery" which is different to the "cwm app". If you must have it you can download from the playstore, but make sure you flash zips through recovery not the app.
CWM is part of the kernel, so if you want it you must flash such one like CF-Root or Siyah.

Thank you for the link.
I found "I9100XWLPI_I9100DBTLP6_DBT.zip" and hope this is the right one for my smartphone. I am not sure what the difference between "Germany-MBC" and "Germany-DBT" is...
Can anyone confirm me that i have the right one ?

The DBT one is for the carrier Deutsche Bundespost Telekom. I don't know the other one, but yes, that is the correct one!
Thank you.
And where can i a "original stock kernel" for a german Galaxy SII (IML74K.XWLPI) ?
Thanks for ur helpful replies, I was able to download CWM and reflash it using Odin, however when I tried installing new ROMs using CWM recovery mode, the phone wouldnt start, although that when I finish installing the .zip file everything seems to be done correctly, but my phone just wouldnt launch, when I turn it on I get the Samsung GT-i9100 and the yellow ( ! ) mark cause I didnt flash a secure kernel yet, then its gets stuck on the resurrection remix loading phase
Any inputs guys ? regarding I was able to restore the stock rom and launch the phone regularly, but now I can not :crying:
Can you get to recovery or download mode?
You can find at http://androidfirmwares.net/
U can check root by root checker app at play store.
