So, my battery on Froyo MIUI, by the dearly missed Trip, was very very good.
Using CPU Spy (a great app, by the way), I could see that my phone was falling in Deep Sleep
almost immediately after turning off the screen, resulting in battery life of about 30-40 hours.
Also, in Spare Parts (or *#*#4636#*#*), battery history showed a Running percentage that was not more than 5-10% above the Screen On.
One day I was messing with my settings and changed some things and since then,
I noticed battery drain and CPU Spy indicated that my phone did not sleep half the time
and the Dialer* was keeping the phone awake 80-90% of the total uptime.
(*Actually the "Dialer" in this case has nothing to do with your dialer/contacts application.
It represents the internal process com.android.phone.)
I tried everything, I flashed different basebands, reinstalled ROM, wiped data, the result was exactly the same.
Until I figured out the culprit:
In Settings->Common->Call Settings in the Phone Calls section,
I had to disable Flip to silence, Grip to fade and Disable in darkness,
leaving only the Proximity sensor on.
That took care of my issues and the phone has gone back to an amazing battery life!
I believe this applies to all MIUI ROMs and probably CM too,
and every ROM that has these dialer functionalities.
I hope I've been of some help!
Cheers!
Thanks, I will disable these functions. I don't need them !

Yeah, they are "cool" features but don't deserve the battery drain, imho!

Cool features, and don't forget features for ''lazy'' or ''I want to impress friends'' people!
thanks for sharing
I always disable the first two anyway
about the third one instead of Disable in darkness I have Enforce the proximity sensor(?)

I just Download Z-Device test and everything is ticked apart from NFC (obviously) and Temperature sensor?
I was wondering why my Temperature Sensor had an X instead of a tick. Does this mean it's not working?
Can somebody else who uses this app confirm if they get the same results.
Thanks.
Maybe the software is not reading the hardware correctly.

That's why I wanted to know other peoples results to see if it was the app or my phone?
I just installed Z-Device myself and the temperature sensor test is crossed out for my to, I must just be a fault in the software, maybe you should report it, As i have seen the temperature sensor working fine in all the cpu apps i have downloaded.

Thankyou for checking, much appreciated.
What other apps are there that are similar?
Z-Device could be looking for an external temperature sensor that measures the temperature of the environment.
I use an app called elexir to chek all my sensors and 2 sensors are shown as not installed which is pressure and temperature sensors. so i assume those sensors are for ambient temp & pressure.

Hi simacca,
I'm part of the developers team of Z-DeviceTest .
Answering your question:
All models ussually comes with a temperature sensor for battery, due that a very high temperature (>80º Celsius) could provoque a battery degradation, even explosion in rare cases.
The sensor is used to minimice sensor & CPU usage in order to get the battery colder or even, automatic turn off the phone in overheat events.
Z-DeviceTest controlls this sensor that you could find in battery screen test as "Temperature:".
The temperature sensor showed on main screen, is an extra sensor always included on digital compass sensor, due that the physical principle used to measure magnetic fields (Hall effect) is higly temperature dependant.
Depending on the ROM you have instaled, the access to this temperature sensor is granted or not, and if the O.S., could access and read the sensor, we detect it and show the measure, or not.
I hope to have helped you with this issue.
Best Regards.

Thanks for the reply.
I am using the stock unbranded KE7 XEU rom.
Maybe when I get the new update that's due out any time it will fix the problem.
You are wellcome.
¿Could you please confirm back if you can read battery temperature trough the battery screen test of Z-DeviceTest?
Thanks in advanced.
Best regards.

Thank you again !
Is there an apk of z-test, I have no wifi or data access (so can't get it from the market) but need to check my wifi status as trying to turn it on just returns "error".
Thanks

Is there auto brightness for LG P500 ??
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App
Yes - if you manage to solder the needed sensor to PCB.
No light ambient sensor on LG Optimus One so NOPE!
Then is any application which will make brightness adjustment according to surrounding light intensity

Pardon me, but apparently you did not get the point?
An application needs a sensor to work with!!! You have no sensor -> the application is useless!

"adjustment according to surrounding light intensity" No. But you can manually increase and decrease by adding Power Management Widget on your home screen. That's the best thing you can do and I do the same Hope this helped!

Also check Elixir... pretty cool. The brightness steps can be completely customized there.
It does exist an app that acts as a light sensor... its called "Ambient Light Sensor"
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.pbxes.light2
It uses back camera to adjust brightness... it doesnt drains battery because it only perform checks when the phone screen is turned on (ie. after unlock)
Altough it doesnt work as well as advertised... sometimes works and sometimes it simply doesnt do his job.
YMMV
I recall using v1.6 and its wierd because it worked better than the new one, but it was more prone to crashes
good luck

That must have amazing functionality with the "high quality" P500 camera. I guess it sets brightness to 0% at night and to 100% for the rest of the time.

BTW, i find P500 camera very good ( for being an 3.2MPX snapper)( since i changed to LGCamera APP or Camera360), it takes good shots, very good color representing and little noise... its just 3.2MPX, but i'm not a pro photographer and i just dont need a 32432432x123213 pics.... just my 0.02

well... the auto bright could be based on hour... when day is full bright, when night low bright...

Or you were gifted with mistical-uknown magical powered eyes ... congratz!! hahahhah [ps: lets get back to the topic if you're kind enough]
@ lostsoul_msh: good suggestion!!! I used to do this, nowadays i just keep my brightness at minimum, i think i'm used to it now ... dunno if this will be harmful for my eyes, [OT ]maybe doktornotor is right after all, who knows....... [OT]
EDIT1: After rooting and installing franco.kernel i can confirm the last version is working like a charm, and tested in many environments with different light conditions... CAN O1 haz ambient light sensor, yes WE Can...

so... that's a good question: is there any app that can change the brightness according to time? for example: 7-9AM = 25%; 10-12AM = 50%; 13-17PM = 75%; 18-20PM = 50%; 21-23PM = 25%; 0-6AM = 10% ... i think that's an oportunity for developers to create an app to solve this problem! what do you think? peace!

Instead you can just reduce the brightness yourself as per your needs using the power widget. Suppose you're using an app as you mentioned and you're in a very bright place at around 9 AM (it is pretty bright at even 7 AM here in India). Then the brightness would be 25% and the sunlight visibilty of your phone would be pathetic. You may need to again manually increase the brightness. So there is almost no point for an app like that, IMHO.

In CM7 you can just slide your finger over notification bar and change brightness accordingly in a heart beat. No need for widget.

Use gsam battery minor monitor and click apps, view sensor usage, and click android system.
For the amount of time you phone has been discharged, the pressure sensor has been on and active 99 - 100% of the time.
Now, I've tried to find ways to doable this useless pressure sensor (also know as barometer), but to no hope.
I wonder if we can work out how to disable this useless sensor..
The pressure sensor model is BMP180: http://www.bosch-sensortec.com/content/language1/downloads/Flyer_BMP180_v5_032011_web.pdf

You are 100% wrong. I don't feel like digging around on the Web for 20 minutes to find the links, but I did do so a few months ago and found that the hardware for both a barometer and FM radio are both definitely present in all RAZRs, just not implemented in software.

As OP contains no development
I've been looking at this as well the last few weeks as a possible cause for my reduced battery drain. Ignore the pressure, it's the accelerometer on all the time that I'm curious about. In gsam you'll notice that accelerometer and pressure are listed, also, accelerometers can be used for pressure also. (currently doing that at work ) However looking at the datasheet and current draw, you would hardly notice the drain from the sensor.
I have noticed that keeping the facebook app to update every hour BUT with all the push stuff switched off in notifications, ie messages, wall alerts etc has reduced my current consumption by around 30mA. I'm currently keeping my eye on this.
I have high battery drain because of the Gestures & Motions app that constantly uses the proximity sensor.
How can I fix this issue?
Device is a Oneplus Nord 2 5G with latest A.16 OxygenOS.
Thanks!
